I simply loved it
It honestly was so refreshing to watch. I love zombie movies and it has been so long since i've seen one that keeps me thrilled till the end. I wish they make a second season ✨. I have train to busan in my to rewatch list and i might as well add this one too~Was this review helpful to you?

Purest form of love, insane chemistry, loose writing (vague spoilers)
I suppose I shouldn't be so harsh on a drama that I thoroughly enjoyed and invested emotion in till episode 25 but the taste of disappointment of a show that could have been a masterpiece but was held back because of lazy writing in the last few episodes--is far too bitter. I have absolutely no qualms from the cast and the chemistry, everyone gave their best performance and made me feel every bit of emotion their character was bringing to the table.Especially Song Weilong-this man utterly charmed me with his rough edges but softest portrayal and most intense gaze of a complex character like Chen Yi, not once did I feel disconnected or wanted to look away when he was on screen. Zhang Jingyi, my girl, you are an utter diva who made an absolute fan out of me- this was my first drama of her's. She was so bold, fierce, made me feel for her even when Miao Jing was being an absolute menace. Their chemistry was off the charts yet it was so organic- like an actual couple who had found each other after 6 years of separation, every moment was tense and crackling. Their kisses were absolutely lethal and passionate, and their hugs charged with emotion. They got every phase so right: that enemies to lovers adolescent one, that slow spark at teenage, that connection of caring in crisis, being together against the world, found family when utterly alone, and developing insane attraction for that special person as hormones rage. The adult phase too was so good: the angst, the bitterness, the raw tension and heated gazes, but also the yearning and selflessness from both sides. These two loved each other their entire lives almost and always chose the other over the self only to realise that that very care was getting int he way: IMAGINE THE SELFLESSNESS. The cinematography was so well done with the scenes being shown, I am never forgetting that one of Miao Jing in the rain with umbrella while Chen Yi scourged the heap of garbage for her lost earrings, getting soaked while sheltering her---that WAS EVERYTHING TO ME!!
Now comes to the part which I have issues with and why I was left feeling so angry with the last couple episodes despite being an absolute fan of it for 20 episodes or so. I am so so so disappointed with the way they blended the past story and cut it abruptly to give leap- it was disruptive but I kept calm thinking we would get flashbacks which WE DIDNT! THIS WAS THE MOST INFURIATING PART OF THE SHOW FOR ME: they gave ONE flashback and it came at the worst possible time (towards the final episodes) by which point I no longer cared about the past and was too invested in my Yi JIng's present and future. They turned one of the most anticipated sequences (first fire and second fire) into ones I skipped through because the emotions fell flat. The writers forgot that they had given us a tease of break up scene pre-leap and never showed it which made the story feel so broken. We got them talking about the future and everyday domesticity but never GOT TO SEE THE ACTUAL REWARDING MOMENTS of Chen Yi showing Miao Jing his new pool hall or proposing to her. The ending was so bland that I FELT NOTHING WHEN IT ENDED! They could have given us everything IF THEY HAD CUT OUT excessive scenes of auditing, case investigations, and Zhang Bin which I HAD NO INTEREST IN because this story was emotion and character driven! I am still seething with rage BECAUSE MY CHEN YI AND MIAO JING DESERVED BETTER, THEIR CHEMISTRY DESERVED MORE!
We got the purest journey of love, domestic bliss, insane chemistry, hottest kisses and makeout session, complex characters but the production team screwed up the final 6 episodes! So yes I would come to rewatch this but skip aggressively epi 25 onwards every single time!

Is it good? Yes, but 8 episodes weren't enough to make it work.
Decent script without the typical romance, but the hype around the ugly Cookie Monster proves people always need something cute because the story isn't important!The story:
I don't want to delve deep into this because it really isn't that complicated. Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang have to save the King and the palace from ghosts, but later you find out the ghosts are not as scary as real people. This is how I can describe the plot without any spoilers.
The story itself isn't anything special that you've never seen before. There are multiple things I didn't like. For example, I'm all for open endings and not punishing villains. If they want to make another season, I'm okay with this, but without that, you're just left hanging there waiting for an explanation. Even if you want an open ending, some questions still have to be answered.
Some parts actually surprised me, and that's not an easy thing to do.
The romance:
If you want your typical romcom, you better not hit "Play" because this isn't a romance story. The two main characters obviously care for each other and go above and beyond for each other, that's all you're going to see. The chemistry between the actors is good enough to carry the whole drama.
The acting:
Nam Joo Hyuk was good, but he wasn't outstanding. I watched multiple dramas with him, but his acting always feels similar. The only difference is the role itself. To be fair, this melodramatic, sad boy image suits him. His fight scenes were good, and I liked the banter with Saeng Gang. They balanced each other out well.
As for Roh Yoon Seo, she's still a rookie, but she was still the most outstanding part of the drama. Not only as a character but as an actor as well. Obviously the senior actors were great, but as a lead actress, she carried the drama. I know many people criticized her acting, but I'm not surprised. Kdrama fans and people in general don't know much about acting, and most of them only focus on the romance. Her acting didn't get better over time, her character just got more interesting and developed, that's all. That's why she did a great job, and this is how acting works.
The OST:
We need to talk about this, because it's rare when a Kdrama only has an original score without any songs, but one of the best parts of the drama was the score! It's top-tier!
The visuals:
In the world of AI slop, where people are too lazy to create something new and interesting, "The East Palace" was a nice surprise because you can tell it was normal VFX because it was obvious when the visuals weren't always high quality, like in the first episode, for example. You can tell what part was real and what's VFX but still looked good most of the time. Even with some minor visual flaws, it was never bad enough to care about it for a second.
The directing and the cinematography were also great. The action scenes didn't feel jarring or too much. Maybe that one last fight scene in the finale was too anime-like, but I didn't mind it at all. I've seen much worse.
Overall:
This drama is definitely worth your time, but as I said above, we need more to complete the story properly. I feel like the journey just began.

i kept waiting for this show to capture my attention, but unfortunately it did not.The characters of the villans weren't well fleshed out, so i had no reason to be interested in them getting their lick back. i found the story very lacking and honestly i also did not feel any chemistry between the main leads. The secrets in the drama were apparently also being kept from us the viewers and the wait for the full story to be told, stretched too far that i eventually lost interest. Crime meets BL
A really good story especially for those who love their crime shows, good to follow the case, although the villain wasn't really a surprise. Acting was great, good chemistry and they all worked well together, i just think the pacing needed some improvements with the episodes being so short, especially the final which needed at least another episode to round everything off, its a complete story but needed a little bit more room to grow in that episode.One of my biggest pet peeves for shows is medical inaccuracies and miraculous injury recovery, this takes me out of the story and there were a few scenes throughout that broke the emotion due to how these were cut together, at least for me, especially when a hospital monitor shows a pulse ox of 100% but 0 pulse/heart rate, this isn't a spoiler of a death, this is a medical scene with a very inaccurate reading, made me snort, not the reaction you want to have in an emotional scene.
Honestly, great show overall though, and the intro is visually brilliant and the music on point. Highly recommend watching

Solid and gripping plot, and a General who ACTUALLY fights many battles
This drama has a gripping plot right from the start till the finale. If you think you finally got to breathe a little in one episode, then that is a warning sign on an insane reverse Uno plot twist incoming. There are zero loose ends. Not only is the plot solid, but the action scenes are epic. We finally get to see a General who actually fight many battles, living up to all those legends about him. Honestly, I usually get distracted by Hou Minghao's facecard whenever he plays a gentle playful character, but I was taken aback by his little bit of crazy personality time and again. Xiao WuYi is such a complex character, that we will have quite a long time figuring out whether he is a black-red-gray-green flag. He is war weathered, super smart, sly like a fox and has a phenomenal vision and foresight. This is a perfect example of how looks can be deceiving. Hou Minghao is indeed an amazing actor. Ai Mi too has done such a phenomenal job as a smart woman who is also a mechanical engineer. Her character is so well written and she has totally aced it. There are hardly any damsel in distress scenes (which I hate) and cringe cute acts (which I cannot tolerate even one bit) . Such a power couple. Another thing which is very impressive about this drama is, all of the women are very intelligent and equally powerful. Not only that, they all stand for each other - queens who straighten each other's crowns ❤️ . Especially Yan Yue - one of Xiao WuYi's personal bodyguards. Her martial arts skills are very impressive.Special mention is also needed about the great acting by Peter Ho who plays the role of grand tutor Xie. I also love how the male lead always acknowledges that women are individuals with their own thoughts and dreams and never imposes his authority over the woman he loves, even when his love is unrequited. Mad respect. I don't know why IQIYI listed it as a romantic drama. I guess people will be disappointed if they watch it expecting romance. It is rather a political action thriller. Romance is hardly 10 percent. My only complaint is that, they could have just added 5 more episodes so that the viewers can sit back and relax a little in between that sizzling plot twists 🤭 . A word about the amazing OST too - all of the songs are amazing. It matches the epicness of the drama so perfectly.My favourite one - Blazing light. Funny and cute!
it's so cute, I love the chemestry so much and I love that they play in such a funny series together. it shows such a different and silly side of the actors and I like that it is slow burning. it is really funny to watch and I can't wait for more. Everything is so bright and colorful and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I also love how it shows the gaming world in different ways mobile or PC, and consoles while highlighting the friendship that forms because of the gaming and the excitement and fear of competitive gaming. family-friendly
tbh this is a great binge watch series you could even watch with your family and friends. It's a solid 9 (still gonna rate it 10 tho)Also that small creature is soo cute and da real mvp.
If someone is wondering if this is a romance, well they definitely feel something for each other, but there are no kiss scenes or adult scenes.
For me this series is just purely them trying to save each other the entire time. (not a bad aspect I am pointing here)
Does this need a season 2? Not really. Would I watch it if there was a second season? Definitely yes!
Bonus: seeing the actors Lee Hong Nae from The Legend of Kitchen Soldier and Kwak Dong Yeon from Vincenzo and Big Mouth literally made my day, Like I was soo happy to see them- especially for Dong Yeon as it has been a long time since I have seen him in a drama.

When GMMTV announced a full-blown vampire BL starring Joss Way-ar and Gawin Caskey, we knew we were in for something ridiculous, but My Golden Blood delivered an absolute feast. Watching Mark (Joss), a 200-year-old, brooding, morally gray vampire, try to fight his urge to literally devour Tong (Gawin)—the rare, delicious human with "golden blood"—was peak supernatural BL angst.
🔥 1. JossGawin’s Chemistry is Feral
Can we talk about how insanely well-matched these two are?! Joss was practically born to play a dark, dangerous vampire prince. The sharp jawline, the towering presence, the way he looks at Gawin like he’s both a sacred treasure and a five-course meal—it was constant, suffocating tension.
And Gawin? Absolutely phenomenal. Tong wasn't just a helpless damsel waiting to be bitten; Gawin brought so much heart, warmth, and quiet strength to the role. The dynamic of "I want to protect you" vs. "My literal instincts are telling me to rip your neck open" made every single touch feel high-stakes.
📏 2. The Height Difference & Physicality
Gawin is 6’0” (183cm), which usually makes him the taller, dominant lead in most series. But standing next to Joss (who is a literal giant), Gawin looked almost soft—and the visual contrast was everything. Watching Gawin actually having to reach up or tilt his head just to kiss Joss was ridiculously cute and made every romantic scene 10x more impactful.
🩸 3. The Bloodlust vs. Love Tension
The "Golden Blood" concept added such a good layer of angst:
The Scent: Every time Tong got a tiny paper cut or bled, Mark’s whole world went into slow motion and his eyes flared up. The sheer self-control Mark had to pull off was wild.
The Conflict: Knowing that loving Tong meant constantly putting Tong’s life in danger from other vampires who wanted that Golden Blood power gave the whole show a heavy, ride-or-die atmosphere.
The OST: Gawin singing on the soundtrack elevated every single emotional climax. Whenever his voice kicked in during a dramatic scene, the goosebumps were real.
⚠️ 4. Where It Lost 1.5 Points
While it was a total ride, it wasn't quite a 10/10 for two minor reasons:
Vampire Rules/Lore: Sometimes the vampire politics and side-villain motivations got a little messy or took a backseat to the romance (which, fair, we were here for JossGawin anyway!).
Pacing in the Middle: A few episodes in the middle arc felt a bit repetitive with the "I must push you away to protect you" cycle before we finally got to the epic final confrontation.
🏆 The Verdict
My Golden Blood gave us dark romance, high-budget supernatural vibes, incredible visuals, and a top-tier main couple with unmatched chemistry. It completely proved that GMMTV can hit the mark when they dip into full-on fantasy/horror elements!
Favorite Scene: Any time Mark loses his composure, his eyes change color, and he traps Tong against a wall while fighting his own fangs. 10/10 cinema! 😭❤️

What makes Double Helix unforgettable is that its greatest conflicts are never external. The characters aren't defeated by fate, coincidence, or a conveniently cruel world. More often than not, they're defeated by the parts of themselves they cannot yet recognize.That idea runs through every layer of the story. Each character believes they're acting out of love, loyalty, or responsibility, yet they remain blind to how fear quietly shapes those same decisions. The tragedy isn't that they don't care enough. It's that they don't fully understand themselves, and because of that, they struggle to truly understand the people standing in front of them.
I found the writing remarkably confident in its approach. Rather than forcing emotional revelations, it allows self-awareness to emerge gradually through failure, regret, and reflection. Characters aren't transformed by a single life-changing speech. They change because reality slowly dismantles the beliefs they've carried for years. That gradual evolution feels earned, making every emotional breakthrough resonate all the more.
One of my favorite aspects of the drama is how carefully it avoids reducing people to simple motivations. Nobody acts from love alone, or fear alone, or pride alone. Every important decision is influenced by several emotions pulling in different directions at once. That complexity gives the relationships a sense of unpredictability while remaining completely believable. Even when I disagreed with a choice, I could always understand the emotional path that led there.
The storytelling also deserves praise for its subtlety. It rarely tells the audience exactly what to think. Instead, it leaves room for interpretation, trusting us to notice the significance of a quiet pause, an unfinished sentence, or the changing emotional distance between two characters. It respects silence as much as dialogue, and that restraint makes the emotional moments feel all the more powerful.
What ultimately moved me was that Double Helix never suggests that love is measured by intensity. Instead, it suggests that love matures through honesty, accountability, and the willingness to challenge the stories we've been telling ourselves for years. That's a far more nuanced and rewarding perspective than the idea that love alone can solve every problem.
By the end, I wasn't left with the feeling that I had simply watched a romance. I felt like I had watched people slowly learn to see themselves clearly for the first time, and only then begin to see each other with the same honesty. That emotional journey is what stayed with me far more than any single scene or dramatic moment.
For me, Double Helix is a rare example of storytelling that values introspection as much as emotion. It trusts its audience to engage with complicated people instead of easy archetypes, and it builds every relationship on psychological truth rather than convenience. Thoughtful, layered, and deeply human, it's the kind of drama that becomes even richer every time you revisit it. A wholehearted 10/10.

Very disappointed because I have booked for a long time and waited for a long time
1. With a budget that's quite high drama, but the production is chaotic.2. The star-studded cast and their usually okay acting felt off because of the camera work which was all over the place and sometimes missed the right close-ups. When it was important, the camera cut elsewhere, and when it wasn't important, it zoomed in, wasting the acting.
3. With that pace and some lost acting, the vibes are similar to a soap opera. If only the production team had chosen a slightly more slow-burn approach and slightly reduced the brightness and overacting, it would have been really good, capturing that classic dimmed, vintage vibe. Instead, it's like B612.
4. The cinematography and transitions, the transitions and camera work made my eyes dizzy, the cinematography was very rough and sometimes there were disturbing blur effects.

Disappointing
I wached the first 3 episodes to find childish scene by lead female actor, then later in another episode they speeded up a certain scene by this time it spoil it for me.Hou minghao is very talented in his acting but Ai mi isnt ready for a lead role due to her acting skills are not quite there. I would have carried on watching if it wasnt for these factors.

Emotions
I dont really write reviews on here but this will be my first one.This show makes you feel every emotion under the sun, from comfort to heartbreak to anger to loss. I dont have the words to describe how much I enjoyed this drama. I cried and laughed throughout. From the heartwarming villagers to the villains, every character makes you feel a different emotion. The acting can get corny at times but that only serves to emphasise the charm of this show, please watch this.

Be my Player two flips the script
I reall enjoy this lighthearted series, right know there are alot of „dark romance“ our „time travel“ series, which I also enjoy but I also like to switch it up fron time to time! I think it is funny how here Maxky is a silly and outgion character who is totally in to gaming (compared to him being a Mafia like rich kid who is mainly working) and how Bas is a shy young man with soical anxiety and only two close friends, who only started gaming and streaming becuse his friends wanted him to get out of his comfort zone (compared to him being an outgoing and loud person who likes to fight and is friends with everyone)! As gaming is as popular as it is today (compared to my childhood where it was seen as childish or for „nerds“) I also think it fits perfectly in todays world, espacially with more and more female gamers! Key to The Phoenix Heart is a must watch drama
Story : I have watched so many cdrama but this drama is really good perhaps bcos the script was given fully to the actors since the beginning n there was minor changes so there was no unimportant characters which usually annoying and usually will make the main lead becoming dumb in the middle or at almost the end of the story.The plot is solid, a lot of plot twist which we cant guess, the pace is fast so there is no boring episode and we really cant skip or fast forward while watching cos we would be lost since the story was so packed. All the characters are important and they have a back stories and all characters have their shining moments, even the horse have its shining moment and back stories.
Acting : I have to give an applause to Hou Minghao, he really is a very talented actor. He nailed it, potraying Xiao Wuyi. His micro expression, eye acting, body movement was well done, so for us audience even he didnt say any words but we could really feel his sadness, anger, frustrations, happiness only by looking at his gesture and this is very rare cos from what i have experienced only a few actors can do that. Cos mostly cdrama only relying on good looks only, traffic actors with high popularity even though their acting mostly are not good so thats why cdrama become boring. I have tried to watch several new drama with traffic actor or actress as main lead but i dropped it after 1 or 2 episode bcos of their bad acting. Hou Minghao also done all the action scene, and gave an input to the director to make the story more realistic. He really is so talented. For other actors, they are all also good in potraying their characters.
Note : for the people who are hesitate to watch because the FL was still minor when this drama was made, no need to worry this drama is well written, the story is not focusing on love story anyway, there is no kissing scene but we can still feel the tense. For me its more beautiful than just relying on kissing scene for romance drama.
