thank god that's over
An upgrade from another popular show adapted from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's work, Love Between Fairy and Devil, but only barely so. If you've seen Love Between Fairy and Devil, you've seen this. Obviously the specifics are different, but the amount of times where I was like "oh this plot development is like that plot development in LBFAD" was. actually insane. Anyway let me talk about BFTB in detail lol.Given how central the romance is, let's start there. Tianyao realizes that Yanhui has the Heart Protection Scale (one of the many parts of his body that he is trying to recollect) and so he decides he wants to gain her trust so she will give it back. To do this he kidnaps her and then a few days later he stabs her to reawaken his powers. So...... not the best start to a romance, but I'm no stranger to romances that start with murder attempts (and technically he didn't try to kill her, he needed her blood for a ritual, but still he *could* have explained and it would have made that whole situation less painful for both of them lmfao). She, understandably, wants nothing to do with him after he stabs her, and he relentlessly follows her to try to convince her to help him in his quest to recollect his bones. Because of his weakened state, she manages to escape from him, but then — thanks to the Heart Protection Scale — she can sense when he's in danger and she feels guilty and comes to his rescue. She then agrees to help him, which annoyed me A LOT. She does not owe him anything. He kidnapped her, his village forced them into getting married, he stabbed her (even if he technically had a "good" reason for it and she was fine afterwards), and then he basically wore her down into agreeing to help. Then we get to what might be the arc I hated the most (and something I haven't seen anyone on here criticize????) — Yanhui being given a love potion where she will fall in love with the first person she touches; that person of course being Tianyao. Yanhui is then extremely enamored with Tianyao. Just can't focus on anything when they're in close proximity bc how downbad she is. It was deeply uncomfortable to watch her autonomy be taken away by a magic spell and have it be treated as haha funny. And as soon as it's finally reversed, now Yanhui is apparently Stockholm Syndrome'd into liking Tianyao. 🤢 Like it's just so painfully forced! Tianyao's feelings also seem to come out of nowhere as he goes from being very closed off and emotionally repressed to randomly being jealous of her spending time with a man she does not like but that she knows likes her. Like....... how did we get here? (Also, tangent, sorry, but the show stresses that Tianyao knows Yanhui deeply, but how is he confident about that given he must've thought he knew Su Ying deeply since he was going to marry her, but then she tried to kill him on their wedding day. Like, how would he ever feel confidently about a Taoist being genuine with him?)
Anyway, whatever, the romance — as I already said — felt super forced and so I didn't really care about watching them grow "closer." Sure, there were some moments I thought were cute and I appreciated them — I liked how attentive he was to her when she was affected by the dark aura and letting her bite him LOL — but bc the foundation felt so damn flimsy, I didn't feel anything about them as a ship. THEN there's the development that a lot of the more negative skewed reviews have an issue with — Tianyao stabbing Yanhui to get the Heart Protection Scale back. Honestly, if the show wasn't pushing this dynamic as a romance, I might've been able to get over this, but because the narrative is so aggressively insisting that these two are meant to be, I can't get past it. Yes, he did it to save those Dragon Valley kids, but he stabbed her and, as far as the audience knew for 10 EPISODES, he left her for dead. And yes, I understand that he was retraumatized by Su Ying kidnapping the kids after the massacre she committed in Dragon Valley 20 years earlier, but come on, if he is mentally present enough to tell Yanhui "I'm sorry," he is mentally present enough to tell her "I have to do it to save them." (ALSO GIVEN HOW THE SHOW HAS STRESSED YANHUI'S PROTECTIVE NATURE AND KINDNESS UP UNTIL THIS POINT, IF HE HAD GIVEN ANY SORT OF EXPLANATION, I'M WILLING TO BET SHE WOULD HAVE TOLD HIM TO STAB HER AND TAKE THE SCALE.) The show tries to gloss over this horrifying action (which, yes, was made under duress, but that doesn't change how Yanhui experiences it!) by telling us later that Tianyao had done something called the Life Swapping Spell so that if someone were to ever fatally harm Yanhui, he would be the one to die instead. But.......... he was perfectly fine when he went to kill Su Ying and upon returning to Dragon Valley he says that Yanhui will die in 3 days without the Heart Protection Scale so............... which is it?????????? Anyway, what I honestly find even more unforgivable than the stabbing is Tianyao's absolute refusal to leave Yanhui alone afterwards. Tianyao spends weeks? months? searching for Yanhui. Upon finding her, she has a panic attack and vanishes with Bai Xiaosheng, the character who saved her life by taking her to the Lord of Dark Aura. Tianyao SEES her terror, has unmistakable proof that she does not want to see him or be near him (which he had even pondered in voiceover while he was trying to find her), AND YET he continuously searches for her, determined to make her listen to his explanation. When she (RIGHTFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) refuses to listen to him BECAUSE SHE OWES HIM NOTHING, another character who knows Tianyao's reasoning for the stabbing relays it to her, and her resolve starts to soften a little. Tianyao then continues following her to "make sure she stays safe" which like........................ again, if he's set the Life Swapping Spell in motion, then he knows she won't die so... he shouldn't be that worried about her being in danger lol. Tianyao, Yanhui, and Bai Xiaosheng then get trapped in this contraption where Yanhui makes Tianyao write up a pact saying that he will leave her alone and, well, knowing that Yanhui/Tianyao is The Romance™️, I knew that shit wasn't going to last, so I couldn't feel any relief about him finally agreeing to respect her boundaries. The three of them are then in Qianqiu — Yanhui and Bai Xiaosheng are looking for a book on a certain cultivation technique, Tianyao wants to make sure Yanhui gets said book and also he's friends with the ruler of Qianqiu. When Yanhui and Bai Xiaosheng run into difficulties in getting the book, of course Tianyao inserts himself into the situation, even though he signed the pact to leave Yanhui alone. 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Of course them getting thru this ordeal together is the start of Yanhui forgiving him. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 Yanhui and Tianyao successfully getting thru this trial together then leads to an old man insisting they get married 🤢 Yanhui initially fights against this but caves because the show prioritizes Tianyao's feelings lol. Yanhui then completely forgives him upon 1) him defending her and becoming an enemy of Qianqiu by standing by her and 2) learning about the Life Swapping Spell but like....... I've already talked about how this feels like a retcon to soften the betrayal of The Stabbing™️to the viewer, and it does nothing to assuage the issue of him bulldozing her boundaries repeatedly before she was open to being around him. Once she forgives him, there isn't anything I would consider red flag worthy, but it's impossible to overlook everything leading up to this, so I just spent all of their romantic scenes afterwards rolling my eyes.
Beyond the mediocre romance, I also want to (briefly) complain about how weak the writing is. One of the negative reviews on here complained about how people's powers were inconsistent and OH BOY yeah that was super frustrating with the last 10 episodes. At one point the Lord of Dark Aura has captured Bai Xiaosheng, and he very clearly overpowers Bai Xiaosheng and then somehow — literally it is never explained — somehow Bai Xiaosheng escapes and somehow he knows exactly where Yanhui and Tianyao are and somehow he knows exactly what is happening when he arrives and in 30 seconds manages to do the exact thing that saves both of them. HUH? The main villain's goal seems to be that he just doesn't want anyone to be powerful enough to kill him I guess????? The show really does not do a good job making it clear but like.... he wanted to kill Tianyao solely bc Tianyao could kill him...... He wanted that book on the cultivation method to destroy it and keep anyone from learning it...... Like is that really it???? Also apparently he's the personification of everyone's negative feelings????? Like the amount of times the last 10 episodes had me literally saying OUT LOUD "sure, I guess this might as well happen" because it was just getting so absurd that I could barely process the exposition dumps....... like lmao.........
Anyways this show would have been literally unwatchable if it weren't for Bai Xiaosheng and I will never watch any other adaptation of Jiu Lu Fei Xiang's writing bc all that woman writes is abuse apologia and I'm f*cking sick of it.

When a Servant Dares to Love a Prince..A Forbidden Romance Destined to Break Hearts Has Arrived ?
My most anticipated Thai historical BL of 2026 has finally arrived, and Episode 1 completely exceeded my expectations. There is something irresistible about forbidden love stories, but when you place them within a royal historical setting filled with duty, sacrifice, hierarchy, and impossible choices, the emotions become even more powerful. The Edge of Horizon understands exactly what makes this genre so captivating and delivers it beautifully from the very first scene.
The story follows two childhood companions, a prince and a servant's son, whose bond is tested when fate reunites them years later. Caught between love, duty, and a kingdom that would never accept them, they must navigate political intrigue, social barriers, and impossible choices.
This is my second time watching Ongsa after The Cursed Love and Inn after The Wicked Game, and I am so glad the producers chose to create a completely fresh pairing instead of repeating old ships. Sometimes the most unexpected pairings create the strongest chemistry, and that is exactly what happened here.
Ongsa is absolutely breathtaking as Prince Tin. He perfectly captures the elegance, vulnerability, and emotional burden of royal status. Inn is equally impressive as Phob, bringing strength, loyalty, and quiet devotion to the role. Together, they create a dynamic that immediately pulls you in. Their chemistry feels natural, heartfelt, and impossible not to root for. You can already see how deeply they care for each other, and knowing what is coming from the trailer makes the anticipation even more intense. Once these two finally confess their feelings, it is going to be explosive.
I was also excited to see Pond cast as Prince Chat. After watching him play so many protagonists, seeing him step into a villain role feels refreshing. Episode 1 already hints that he could become the biggest obstacle standing between Prince Tin and Phob, and I cannot wait to see how his character develops.
The production quality is exceptional. Every costume, historical residence, palace interior, and sweeping landscape helps create a truly immersive world. The cinematography feels grand and cinematic, making the kingdom itself feel like a character within the story.
What impressed me most is how quickly the show established its emotional stakes. Within a single episode, I was already fully invested in the characters, their struggles, and the impossible situation they find themselves trapped in. The tension between love and duty is present in every scene, creating the kind of slow burn emotional conflict that makes forbidden romances so addictive.
If you love historical dramas, childhood sweethearts, forbidden love, political intrigue, protective male leads, emotional storytelling, BL romance, and stunning cinematography, this series deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist.
My only small critique so far is something I've noticed in several One31 productions, including The Wicked Game and now The Edge of Horizon. Some of the yelling and emotional outbursts are mixed extremely loud, to the point where they can feel a little jarring while watching on TV. I wish the volume were balanced better, or that background music was used more effectively during those scenes to soften the impact.
Because of that, I'm deducting 0.5 points from my initial score. Of course, this is only based on the first episode, and my rating could easily change as the remaining nine episodes air.
For me, The Edge of Horizon is already shaping up to be the defining forbidden romance Thai BL of 2026.
9.5/10 First Impression

An insult to the amazing actors in this drama
I would always see this drama come up, so I really wanted to watch it because I thought it would be great, but this is the only drama I ever dropped as soon as I finished the first episode - the characters couldn't be more problematic, I couldn't stand it. It honestly concerns me that people could watch the second episode and even think this drama was good. There are so many amazing actors in this - it was an insult to them and a waste of their talent. I usually put up with dramas, series and films until the end because I feel like I have to finish what I've started, so it's extremely rare for me to drop anything, especially after the first episode - I think that tells you everything you need to know about how I feel about this drama.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
"Fun and Entertaining Joseon to Modern Day Rom com Kdrama"
My Royal Nemesis successfully revitalizes the familiar time-travel genre into a brilliantly chaotic and addictive fantasy romantic comedy. The series thrives on a perfectly paced enemies-to-lovers trope, blending modern corporate corruption with tragic Joseon palace intrigue.
Instead of taking itself too seriously, the drama shines by leaning into self-aware humor, unhinged physical comedy, and sharp wit.
The narrative keeps viewers thoroughly hooked with strong subplots that satirise the entertainment business and explore the mysteries of reincarnation.
While it proudly relies on a compilation of classic K-drama tropes, it executes them with a playful confidence that never drags.
Lim Ji-yeon delivers a magnificent performance, She masterfully balances subtle micro-expressions of icy intensity with deep vulnerability and impeccable comedic timing.
Heo Nam-jun excels in his breakout lead role, transforming a typically cold, arrogant chaebol archetype into someone deeply multi-layered.
He displays exceptional screen presence, nailing the transitions between severe irritation and unexpected tenderness.Their fiery, combative on-screen chemistry forms the true emotional anchor that elevates the overall series Average rom-com.

Incredible.
🎭 acting: 10/10
📖 plot: 10/10
🪷 overall rating: 10/10
🧡 favorite character: DUANG. , i literally never related to anyone so much in my life.
📝 review: oh this is ginna be so long.
Im not biased, I actually started with such low expectations. Duang with you was my first approach to Thai Bl and honestly I would've never expected that I'd fall in love with this series, more than the series I fell in love with the story.
I can't find the words to describe how good they handles such a heart warming plot in just 12 episodes, The whole pacing was comfortable, slow but giving you satisfaction, I loved how healthy the relationship were, between friends , duangs family, the warrior tiger trio ❤️ and ofc, duangqin. This is a story of two people choosing eachother , accepting the other flaws and helping each other in difficult times giving space, comfort and most imortantly , choices. The whole cast was insanely good. The acting made me feel really close to the characters, it was full of laughs and silliness but also gave space to more complicated emotions like jealousy, regret, hesitation, childhood trauma and abuse. The music, sigh. The osts really convey all the characters feelings , every song was very well played and inserted at the best of times, the lyrics helped you understand what the characters thought, their fears, their worries and their love. I honestly can't explain how close to my earth duang with you has been, and will be for a long time, even if I'll move on from this, I'll always keep Duang With You in a very special place in my heart 🩵
extra: I'm really proud of teeteepor, they came so far and will keep to make our hearts throb 🩵 keep it up angels.

Untapped potential for a longer story
Soul connection is the cure for a body swap. This is another short but charming mini-series with enough potential to be developed into a full-length drama. I’m not usually a fan of body-swap plots since the concept has been used repeatedly over the past few decades, but this drama makes the most of its limited runtime and budget to deliver a decent and entertaining show.
Both lead actors are incredibly handsome and charismatic. What impressed me the most, however, was how convincingly they adapted to each other’s personalities after the body swap. It takes talented actors to portray more than one character effectively within a single series, and both of them pulled it off remarkably well. They truly captured and reflected each other’s mannerisms and personalities.
The kissing scenes were decent, although I would have liked to see more intimate moments between them, especially since the chemistry was built up so well throughout the story. For such a short series, it managed to provide enough emotional depth and character development to keep the plot engaging and the audience invested.
While the drama is enjoyable, it’s clear that the concept could have supported a much larger story. Overall, it’s a fun watch that delivers a satisfying and entertaining BL experience. The ending was also amusing, introducing new victims of the body-swap phenomenon caused by the combination of magic and electricity.

Do yourself a favour and watch this!
Watch this if you want to laugh the entire time! Maybe you'll cry a little bit too, haha. The only reason I'm not giving this a 10/10 is because of how stupid the way they made Yuna act at a certain point was, but that's it, that was literally the only flaw. Everyone is an amazing actor and all the characters were great as well. I'd rewatch this millions of times if I could! The story is THAT good, and so is the song.
Donggu was everything, and Joonki was awesome too. I love how there are so many lines from this drama that stay with you!
Bonus points for being perfect in length at 20 episodes and duration at 1H.

Script ✔️ Acting ✔️ Producing ?
While I like the two leads individually and they have good chemistry together, the script was just no. There were also so many post/pre-production errors that were noticeable and took away from the actual enjoyment of the show. There were at least 2 if not 3 Wardrobes inconsistencies within scenes and just her stomach sizing was inconsistent throughout the show. A pregnancy progresses (meaning gets larger in nature) not has a tiny bump depending on which outfit the actress was wearing. If the actresses looks were such an issue perhaps it would have been a better idea to skip the whole twins storyline. I have never heard of a woman with a flat belly pregnant with twins at 5 months. It's not medically possible, I mean you can deliver and save the babies at that point.... Moving on-ish: what woman hell-bent on keeping her babies goes drinking and dancing in a club? Again, at about 5 months pregnancy with TWINS?! I'm convinced that no one in the writing, editing, or production team has ever been pregnant, known someone pregnant, or read a basic book on pregnancy. The random fainting due to blood sugar? No. She's pregnant. Rant over. The FL and MLs friends were both great. I wish there was a way to find out the actors information. Overall, I have seen this storyline almost a dozen times and while not my favorite (entirely due to writing/production and this version of the characters) they did a great job.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Great Cast & Stunning Action, But Extremely Boring Story
I started watching this drama purely because of Yang Yang and Zhang Ruonan. I’m a big fan of both, so I had quite high expectations. To be honest, I was very disappointed. Star power alone cannot compensate for the weaknesses in the storytelling. The three main actors all performed well and their chemistry together is excellent. Zhang Ruonan looks absolutely stunning in this role and has incredible charisma. The fight scenes are spectacular — truly top-tier — and the visuals are beautiful overall. But that’s pretty much it.The pacing is very slow and drags a lot, to the point of being boring. Especially in the middle of the series, where it frequently takes long detours to tell the backstories of supporting characters. This makes the main plot progress extremely slowly. The backgrounds and motivations of many characters are not clearly explained or developed deeply enough. Then the ending feels rushed, with everything being resolved too quickly in one go. It comes across as incomplete and lacking impact.
Overall, while the action sequences are excellent, the story itself is genuinely boring and poorly executed. It failed to keep me engaged despite the strong cast and beautiful visuals.

Trust me on this: only watch the parts that include Song Jaerim
To be honest, I never thought this drama would be so bad. I can't write a review without spoilers, but if you ask me, you won't regret reading this before watching. There was zero chemistry between Yiyoung and Dohun, it never even felt like they were a couple, and honestly it would've been a lot better if they had been just friends, because what were the writers thinking making Dohun date someone he thought had dated and maybe killed his brother?! Seriously, who even wrote this?! There were so many things that didn't make sense, it seemed like someone wrote the script in five minutes without thinking about they were doing.
Shiwon's performance was terrible, she had literally one facial expression and everything sounded and looked fake - she was actually the right person to play Yiyoung's cousin, because Sejeong's acting is almost the exact same, except Sejeong's is even worse; let's say I'd give Shiwon's acting 2 stars, and Sejeong's 1 star, because, yes, they're that terrible, and it's honestly ironic how the story included a character that was going to get into a University to study music without being talented, while these two actresses were in this drama. This was insulting to all the great actors who had to work with them. I'm rating the acting a 4/10 because I had to rate it and didn't know what to choose, since I didn't want to be unfair to the good actors who were in this (several of whom I already knew and admired), but at the same time I didn't want to choose too high of a rating because the bad actresses don't deserve to benefit from it. Sejeong is a great singer and a great dancer, she should stick to that.
If the story had been properly written, I would've liked to see Jaerim and Seunghee as the main characters / couple - Seunghee is a great actress and I was sad we rarely got to see her in this drama, but then again, the way this was written, it wouldn't have made a big difference.
Everything was predictable, boring because it felt like nothing was happening almost 100% of the time, and the drama was full of cringey clichés, such as Yiyoung tripping and falling into Dohun's arms a million times - even once would've been a cliché, let alone several times.
Song Jaerim carried this drama on his back, the only parts I'd rewatch and recommend watching to first time watchers are the ones that include his character - do that and you'll be able to put up with this without rolling your eyes.
On another note, all the songs were absolutely amazing - definitely one of the best, if not the best, drama OSTs I've heard, so I highly recommend listening to it, especially '눈부신 날' by Song Jieun!

What a show!
Damn! One of the greatest dramas I've binge watch in a long time, I mean for the 6 episodes, it’s definitely easy to finish the show in one sitting. I genuinely love this kind of K dramas the action, the gore, the mystery thriller in someway although it was kind of predictable at some parts it definitely brought the dark comedy that I have been wanting to watch. Everyon’s acting was so good and I cannot wait for the second season to come. I hope the story lives up to its novelty because it wasn’t brought up from an original source it was really thought of by the screenwriter and everyone involved.I have a feeling that maybe yeonsu thought of this plan and imprinted it in her own mind seemingly brain hijacking herself.

Heart-wrenching emotional depth
Spoilers below! He Xiangyong has a lot of emotional depth that I relate to, especially regarding his father. They have misunderstandings with each other in large part because Xiangyong looks down on himself and puts too much weight on other people's opinions, thinking they were putting pressure on him that he couldn't overcome nor amount to. I actually enjoyed how Xiangyong and his father indirectly worked out their issues as the son took on a new identity and was forced to face his inner turmoil. I was most interested in their relationship mending. I genuinely felt sadness when everyone completely forgot who Xiangyong was, 100% just thinking of how he was losing his family.
The epilogue scenes made me feel nostalgic and emotional.... easily my favorite parts of each episode. I think I would've cared more about Haowei's part if they added a little more depth to his story, like his family and work life, as we really only see his connection to Xiangyong. But honestly I only really started feeling that way toward the beginning of the end. I still wanted them to have a happy ending.
Like everyone else, I thought the second couple was very sweet. I enjoyed their storyline and that they began a relationship even without the wish because of Wanzhe's efforts.
The only part of the show I genuinely felt any sort of actual dissatisfaction was the last 30 mins of episode 12. They DEFINITELY needed to have the father and son have a reunion as soon as that Xiangyong regained his identity. Like wtf? So many times throughout the show it was "when I see my son again" and we don't see the moment they reconnect? They understood each other INDIRECTLY throughout the show because his father was speaking to Xiaoyou, not Xiangyong. By the time there was 10 minutes left in the show I was thinking "ARE WE SERIOUSLY NOT ADDRESSING THE FATHER?" I liked the scene that we got, but they could've had that PLUS a reunion after Xiangyong was able to see Haowei.
I definitely think the show went a little awry with the supernatural occurrences. If I were Xiangyong in episodes 11-12 I definitely would be having a bigger existential crisis about human life LMAO. I'm also ignoring Haowei drowning for that rock.... like girl wtf was that. Xixi's role was somehow the least strange among the supernatural elements. Her sudden appearance was a bit off-putting and confusing, but we get the gist of her character as the show went on. Soooo I'm mostly ignoring the supernatural aspects of the show because it was a little much without real explanation but it didn't impact my opinion too heavily.
I enjoyed like 90% of my watch and am glad I gave it a chance. Some people seemed to have a hard time getting into it, but I never felt bored. I was most intrigued by the epilogue scenes from when Xiangyong and Haowei were classmates and Xiangyong's introspection throughout the show. After the ending of the epilogue parts, I cared most about how the father and son would reach an understanding (which is why I'm SO disappointed they didn't have a reunion).
Overall, the moments of Xiangyong's desperation were heart-wrenching and kept me watching more than the romance, which was definitely intriguing for the first half of the show but by the second half I cared more about the father! Like why was that shit making me tear up fr. I can definitely see myself rewatching parts of this show for inspiration, definitely got my emotions flowing!
