A lovely slice of life series.

As you read reviews, you consistently see Park Bo Gum mentioned. Well the series does feature his name. But it is so much more than that. Lee Sang-Yi and Kwak Dong Yeon are involved completely as well. The three of them together shows such sweet and caring brotherhood. Lee Sang-Yi is wonderful with the elders, particularly with Ms. Ra Ok Ja. She adores him and so enthralled with hem, she can’t even recall the other brothers names. Kwak Dong Yeon is such a sweetheart. The way he includes Seon Hee in cooking and is so proud that they enjoy his food, makes me smile with every interaction. Ms Eo spoiled him and he adores her. And, Park Bo Gum. He was so touched by Da In’s letter. His nature is so thoughtful. The children the teenagers, the elders, they all liked that he was there. Going beyond duty and going to Ms. Sun Hee’s home to do her hair because she wasn’t able to come to the shop. Her gift of the perilla oil was so precious to him. That wasn’t acting, that was life at a sweet moment, creating a memory. The part-timers were all cute. I really liked Chef Yun Nam No. I wish he had more time there for he and Kwak Dong Yeon to showcase their delicious food.
I am pleased they are doing a second season. But the one thing that impressed me most; the three brothers visited the village again when the peach blossoms were blooming. No fanfare. No cameras, no filming, just friends returning to visit those they miss. That! That speaks volumes about their character. Aigoo! Excellent show.

Fast-Paced and Thrilling, but Lacking a Standout Lead

Honestly, I think Duty After School is one of the better survival/monster-themed Korean series I’ve watched compared to others in the same genre.

What stood out the most to me was the pacing and storyline. I’ve watched many Korean survival dramas where the characters spend too much time talking, and the tension ends up feeling weak. But in Duty After School, the story moves quickly and includes a lot of action, which makes it genuinely exciting to watch. The comedic moments added throughout the series also helped balance the tension nicely.

Another major strength is the CGI—it’s surprisingly good and makes the monster scenes much more immersive and believable.

I also appreciate the characters in this drama. Unlike many survival series where the cast can be frustratingly weak, selfish, or simply a burden, the characters here are actually competent and brave. They feel capable, useful, and much less annoying than what I usually see in this genre.

However, my biggest issue with the drama is its character focus.

Even though the show technically has many main roles and supporting roles, the screen time feels distributed almost equally among everyone. If I hadn’t looked it up online, I honestly wouldn’t know who the actual leads were.

Because of that, no single character feels properly highlighted. What frustrated me even more is that some of the most impactful and important scenes are often given to supporting characters instead of the supposed main leads, which makes the main characters feel less significant.

On top of that, the “main leads” are constantly grouped together with supporting characters rather than being given their own distinct focus, so the spotlight feels too scattered. As a viewer, it becomes hard to know who I’m really supposed to care most about.

Usually in survival dramas, there’s at least one standout character I become attached to—but here, I couldn’t connect strongly with anyone because no one was given enough individual prominence.

Overall, Duty After School excels in pacing, action, tension, CGI, and competent characters, making it a very entertaining survival drama. But its inability to properly establish and emphasize its main characters makes the emotional experience feel weaker than it could have been.

?? aged badly but at the same time no???

I understand why Full house is considered as the blueprint of rom-com. This show was hilarious even though the plot was nothing crazy.

And it is a lot from me because I usually don't like comedy that much, for example dramas such as Business proposal, Mr queen, or Vincenzo which were sold to me as being some of the funniest dramas, couldn't steal me a smile.

Now before watching you have to take in consideration that it's a very old show so it's borderline misogynistic. For me the good side takes over it but for some people it can be a pass.
And also the show as a whole is totally unrealistic, you must go into it knowing it's just silly.

Last thing I want to say is that it was the first time I fully enjoyed Song Hyekyo acting game. I usually like her kdramas because she chooses good plots, but her cating in itself is often not giving for me. But this time she was great and made he show was it was.

La verdadera justicia no siempre llega acompañada del cumplimiento de las leyes

Esta es una historia muy interesante pero también muy díficil, al ver todos los casos y el sufrimiento de las víctimas, porque lamentablemente a muchas de ellas no les llega justicia, son maltratados y asesinados por personas de poder y sus crímenes quedan impunes, es muy triste porque son personas humildes, especialmente mujeres, que al ver que nadie los ayuda, de alguna manera buscan justicia por mano propia; y es ahí donde entra Peiyi, nuestra protagonista, que también sufrió una tragedia donde perdió a toda su familia y en la que acusaron injustamente a su padre, ella busca encontrar la verdad y vengar a los suyos, mientras ayuda a otras víctimas, y aunque hace su mayor esfuerzo, poco a poco se da cuenta que las personas en el poder no les importa realmente que los crimenes sean castigados, siempre y cuando los de su estatus sean los causantes.

Peiyi es una mujer muy fuerte y tenaz, que no le importa ponerse en riesgo miles de veces con tal de lograr sus objetivos y a veces por esto mismo llega a cometer muchos errores, también suele encerrarse en sí misma porque no quiere dañar a las personas de su alrededor, y piensa que todo lo puede lograr sola; aquí es donde llega Xiao, un chico sereno, tácito, muy ingenioso y dulce, que poco a poco lograr tener una conexión con ella y la entiende mejor que nadie, el tiene el equilibrio perfecto entre dejarla ser libre, no entrometerse en su camino y apoyarla cuando lo necesite, no es fuerte físicamente, pero es un genio y siempre le ayuda a resolver los casos, y cuando ella siente que está perdiendo el control, le recuerda la gran mujer que es, es muy linda su relación, porque aunque es lenta, se ve como evoluciona y como la confianza entre ellos va aumentando a pesar de los obstáculos, es un amor muy sano y reconfortante.

También adore a todo su grupito, Wurren la asistente extraordinaria de Peiyi, una chica un poco traviesa pero muy dulce que siempre estaba para ayudar a su jefa y darle mucho amor, Gu, otro gran compañero leal y que me gustó mucho como terminaron ambos 🤭 el maestro de Peiyi que aunque mantenían discutiendo y haciéndose travesuras mutuamente, le dio la mejor educación y la quería como si fuera su hija, al igual que la dama Consorte Shu, esta mujer la amaba como si fuera su propia hija, tanto así que no le importaba enfrentar la ira del emperador con tal de interceder por ella 🥹 y la doctora Yudi, que aunque apareció en los últimos capítulos, también era una mujer extraordinaria en su campo y quien ayudo al equipo en varios de sus casos.

Una de las cosas que más me gustaron de esta historia, es que a pesar de ver tantas injusticias en contra de las mujeres, también pudimos observar el sentido de sororidad que tenían, como se apoyaban mutuamente, el empoderamiento que tenían a pesar de las adversidades y como salieron adelante a pesar de todo; frente a esto, siento que manejaron muy bien el empoderamiento femenino.

Ame que Peiyi al final demostró que es una diosa guerrera y pudo hacer justicia y acabar con todas las de la ley con el desgraciado que masacró a su familia, es increíble 😎 A pesar de que muchos inocentes murieron injustamente y Peiyi sentía que no lograba ayudar a nadie; realmente si lo hizo, muchas personas aunque con dolor, pudieron seguir adelante gracias a su ayuda, fue muy bonito verlos teniendo una vida tranquila después de tanto sufrimiento 🥹 y lo mejor de todo, Wurren ya tuvo más confianza en sí misma y se convirtió en una gran líder, al igual que su amiga y ahora está junto a Gu, los dos son super lindos 🥰🥰 Peiyi por fin dejó a un lado todas sus preocupaciones y vivio feliz y libre al lado de Xiao, que era el amor de su vida y quien la apoyo en todo momento. Solo hubo dos cosas que no me gustaron, que el emperador que fue el principal culpable de todas las desgracias, quedara sin pena ni gloria, pero evidentemente era muy díficil que con todo el poder que tenía sucediera, pero al menos Peiyi tuvo la satisfacción de decirle sus verdades a la cara 😎 y lo otro que odie fue esa escena extra después del ending ¡¿En verdad era necesario arruinar mi final feliz?! Quede preocupada 😰

Pero en general fue una gran historia, los casos eran interesantes y los personajes complejos y con quienes podías empatizar, incluso llega a ser una crítica hacia la sociedad y la impunidad que se viven en los círculos de poder. Definitivamente me fascinó y me encantaría verla nuevamente, la súper recomiendo, y bueno, no puedo olvidar de los fantásticos que eran el opening y el ending, nos contaban la historia de una gran manera, sin la necesidad de dar spoilers directos 🤗

When predatory swindler became the prey

I am preparing a reddit post on vertical drama actresses aged 35 and above and came across Liu Qing Xin. I realised I had noticed this drama when it was released but somehow was not compelled to watch it. I did it today and it was a great watch.

What I liked:
1. Writing - A refreshed plot with predatory swindler became the prey instead.
2. FL characterisation - Intelligent, focus and no-nonsense. I loved her determination to seek justice for her friend.
3. Acting - Amazing performances by Liu Qing Xin and Wang Hao Zhen. I could sense their characters' pain & anger.
4. Styling - I loved her outfits except the gloves. Fabulous rich woman vibe. ML also wore beautiful suits. Even prison outfit looked good on Wang Hao Zhen.
5. Duration - This drama is only 1 hour 45 minutes long. Concise storytelling.
6. Ending - I loved the ending which was done in 2 parts: i) FL creating a women's aid organisation and ii) wrap up of ML's arc. That's bold of him.
7. Supporting characters - I liked FL's daughter & male friend who supported her cause. I also liked ML's friend / colleague Kevin.

What I disliked:
1. Antagonists - Wang Hao Zhen's ML is one of the antagonists. He's a con artist making money from rich single ladies. I hated his boss Qin Hao De and his employees for profitting from other people's misery.

POV: I'm in this show and I like it

I just want to say thank you Summer strike for depicting the most wholesome introvert romance.

I can't belive how engaging the story was even if objectively, not a lot happened. I was smiling the whole time and I felt so represented as an introvert.

I didn't put a perfect score because the whole "thriller/mystery" part of the plot wasn't giving anything, like idk they could have done something better, I didn't care at all about it, all I wanted was to come back to the romance part and the enjoying the dolce vita part which were perfectly executed.

Now I will say this drama is not for you if you need action, it has a very slow rythm.

everything would've been better if timpai is in drama instead of romcom....

i honestly wanted to rate it higher than an 8 because i really love the theme, and the chemistry between the actors is so good. they had me invested from the start. but tim’s redemption arc just didn’t hit for me. when we as viewers already know how deeply pai loved him, it felt weird how lightly the story handled pai being scammed by the person he loved most. that kind of pain should’ve hit harder.

i think the main problem is this couple just doesn’t fit a romcom setup. they needed more angst, more drama, more time to really unpack the hurt and healing. instead, everything moved too fast because the show wanted to keep things light, and it made some important moments feel shallow.

unorth, on the other hand, fit the romcom vibe perfectly. even though u is a scammer too, north was the one chasing him first, wanting to marry him first, wanting him first. so it’s easy to root for them from the beginning. and they’re CUTE AF 😭 every time their scenes came on, i was smiling and blushing like crazy.

acting wise, mark impressed me. he has that thing where you can feel what the character feels without him needing to overdo it. he makes emotions land naturally. junior was decent, but i wanted more nuance. scammer tim and real tim felt too similar. i wanted clearer shifts in expression, energy, the way he looks at pai. make me see the difference between the lie and the real feelings.

the writing for the background characters was also lacking. the parents barely existed, and i kept wondering why pai seemed closer to his grandpa than his own family with no deeper explanation. tim’s family issues were solved way too quickly in one ep, and da zhan was kinda just there without much purpose.

so yeah, the story definitely has holes. but at the same time, it gave me feelings, and that’s why i still enjoyed it. the chemistry, the cute moments, the emotional pull all worked on me. but if i’m being honest, that 8/10 is me being nice because the writing alone wouldn’t get that score.

The drama that made me lock in kdrama world

It may be biased because it was one of my first kdramas in 2018 but this show is so good, I have feelings for it at this point. It has been in my top 5 for years and the "I wanna reset" still pops up in my head randomly sometimes 💀.

Plot: I liked the way school life was depicted even though it may seem dramatic I think it represents a lot of people's life. I rember the revenge being so satisfying, the way eun byeol backed up her sister. Even though it's a school drama, it will provides you with an epic feeling.

Characters: I like the way side characters had very interesting and relevant stories. I also liked how it adressed the "being a bystander" or "being a passive bully" issue with Eun Byeol's bffs story line.

Production: I also remeber thinking the rythm was weird at first, but it was maybe because I was not used to kdramas.

Anyway perfect drama for begginers!

The Ratings Lie — This One’s Worth It

I binge-watched this in a day, which I’m not sure I should be proud of because I had other things planned… but honestly, I don’t regret it. I’d rate this an 8.5/10, and I genuinely think it deserves more credit than what it’s getting.

What surprised me the most is how natural everything felt. The character development wasn’t forced, which is something I usually struggle with in a lot of dramas. Here, it actually felt like the characters grew into who they were supposed to be, instead of being pushed there just for the sake of the plot.

The main leads were a strong point for me. I especially didn’t expect Yao Zhiming to stand out the way he did. I thought he’d be the typical cold, overbearing CEO type, but his character had so much more depth. He felt human. There were layers to him, especially when you start to understand his past, and that made him a lot more interesting to watch. His development was one of the highlights of the entire drama.

The chemistry between the leads also worked really well. It didn’t feel forced or overly dramatic. It just felt natural, which made their relationship easy to root for.

Another thing I really appreciated was how the drama handled family dynamics and social realities. It touched on themes that feel very familiar, especially in Asian households. Things like pressure around marriage, expectations placed on women in their 30s, and how financial stability and social status can influence relationships. It didn’t feel exaggerated or overly cliché. It actually felt grounded and realistic, which made it stand out.

I know a lot of people had issues with the mother’s character, and I get why. She can be frustrating at times. But personally, I didn’t hate her. If you really follow her story, you can understand where she’s coming from. She felt realistic to me, not just written to be disliked. By the end, her actions made more sense, and I appreciated that the drama didn’t flatten her into a one-dimensional character.

Overall, I think Best Choice Ever is underrated. It’s not perfect, but it has heart, strong character work, and a level of realism that’s hard to find. I almost let the low ratings stop me from watching it, and I’m really glad I didn’t.

Why Do They Keep Fcking Up a Great Story?

Fished out of the frozen water by Yanxun after the ice lake siege, Chu Qiao found herself confused of her own identity and past, not having remembered any after months of being comatose. As Yanxun fed her more and more of their past accounts, deliberately leaving out those he didnt want her to remember, she realized things had started to come back and that Yanxun had meant a lot to her. But she also realized they were not meant to be together, partly because she knew something was not right as the ice lake nightmares she had at nights keep haunting her, and partly because all the tribes in Yanbei do not approve of their king marrying a slave from a rival kingdom. Determined to escape Yanbei, she staged her death on their wedding day and narrowly escape Yanxun’s pursuit, only to find herself being rescued yet again by the one she used to hate, the one who had given his life for her, the supposedly dead Great Yong’s general and strategist, Zhuge Yue. His return did not mark the end of their journey as he was forced to push her away again due to the predicament he was currently in, and decided to set her free into Li Ce’s arm. Will they find their way back to each other again?

First off, the editting of this show is kind of choppy with scenes jumping from one to another without much backtrack that might leave viewers who are not familiar with Princess Agent or the original novel confused. Like the deep relationship between Da Tong Guild and Yanxun and Chu Qiao. One who have watched Princess Agent or read the novel wouldve known Da Tong played a major role in Yanxun’s escape from Zhenhuang capital city and his rise to power in Yanbei. They went waaaaay back with Zhong Yu. But in Rebirth, Zhong Yu just appeared out of nowhere and Chu Qiao risked her neck and limbs just to rescue her. And how the heck did Zhuge Yue always appear just in time to rescue Chu Qiao regardless her location? Did he teleport or something? The last 10 episodes was a real mess, don’t even let me start on that faceless god cult that came out of nowhere that somehow became the drive to the second half of the plot 🫩🙄

That aside, I totally love Li Yunrui as Zhuge Yue. Although the novel’s Zhuge Yue was so much more arrogant and never lost his cool and pride even when he was around Chu Qiao trying to win her heart, I actually liked the milder Zhuge Yue of the adaptation’s, someone who is not afraid to show his emotion and feelings, especially jealousy. Fighting-wise it has always been no doubt Li Yunrui was good at this based on his performance in Blossom. His action scenes definitely did not disappoint. And the comeback of Zhuge Yue’s ice arrows is an absolute joy for me. I thought they’ve forgotten Zhuge Yue’s iconic weapon. I had always felt sorry for the novel’s Zhuge Yue, he had always been making concessions in favour of Chu Qiao despite his prideful nature, but Chu Qiao always overlooks this until the ice lake arc. And to see it materialize in Rebirth made me feel sorry for this character even more. His journey to secure the survival of the love of his life was too ardous and he literally died for it, TWICE! My complain for this character is why would they mostly clad him in scholar’s robe? Novel Zhuge Yue was supposed to be a feared general, the best leader among the best that the kingdom ever produced, how did he became nothing more than a simple scholarlike strategist here? 🤯🤔

Huangyang Tiantian’s Chu Qiao is rather borderline though. The problem isnt with the actress but the role itself. Characteristically, Chu Qiao is very prideful and rough, willing to go all out with tooth and nails in acomplishing her missions and vision. On the surface, her ideals of the perfect world didnt align with the ancient world because her character in the novel had come from the future. This was not so in the adaptation (she was not a transmigrator/time traveler in the adaptation), so while I find her dream of abolishment of slavery understandable, the equal rights idea is rather out of place. It sounded like it just came out of nowhere, until half of the show where it originated, but even then the explanation seemed half-assed.

I love the fact that Chu Qiao finally fell for for Zhuge Yue here, i was all over the moon for this after all the rumours circulating last year that there wont be any romance between them. Maybe the “romance” they refered to was french-kissing and spicy bed scenes that I see prevalent in most cdrama nowadays? Cuz there is definitely none involving Chu Qiao, which is fine by me. I am more for mature romance where you dont need the couple to be frolicking and feeling each other up whenever they meet. Chu Qiao hugging Zhuge Yue is enough, they look perfect for each other. I do want to complain about this character though. She was written to constantly be damsel in distress despite all those outstanding martial skill she’s supposed to possess. Why screenwriter, why? Novel’s Chu Qiao never needed so much saving, only two occasions did Zhuge Yue come for her, which was during the siege of Longyin Pass when she first fled Yanbei, and the retaking of Tang’s palace from Tang’s rebel princes, and in both times it had been Yanxun who was sieging her leaving an absolute no way out. Other than that she could win any battle on her own. Why oh why did they have to power her down so much? Her feats were so epic in the novel, what she went through really puts forth how she earned the famed title of Xiuli General and revered across the realm, but all I see here is a woman who thought she was all tough but fell short each time. Worst part is they not only watered down her capability, they also did the same with Zhuge Yue! WTH, man?

Actors for Yanxun and Li Ce performed with flying colours, although I still liked Shawn Dou’s Yanxun more as his was closer to the novel’s Yanxun than Rebirth’s. In this one, Yanxun is too lovestruck and obsessed with Chu Qiao, a total contrast to the original novel’s Yanxun who had let go of this fixation and focussed on accumulating power after Chu Qiao fled to Biantang, cutting all ties from him. The novel’s Yanxun had always had his ambition placed before Chu Qiao, which was why he tried to bench her in Princess Agent, so that she wouldnt get in his way and instead sit quietly as his queen in his castle because her ideals would put a stop to his advacement to conquer the Central Plains. When he realized Chu Qiao would not budge, that was when he let her go. This, however, was not the case with Rebirth’s Yanxun. This Yanxun keeps getting hung up over his lost love and blames everyone for it. Pure narcisstic dude.

It took quite a while for me to accept this new Li Ce, because Deng Lun’s Xiao Ce had been so accurate to the novel. Although this Li Ce had not been as ostentatious and flamboyant as Deng Lun’s portrayal in Princess Agent, and not as goofy, this Li Ce kind of grow into you as he appears more and more. I especially liked his banter with the usually cold Zhuge Yue, and without realizing it my lips would curve into a smile at their scenes. The love-hate relationship was evident, and very much amusing.

I used to hate Li Qin’s Chun Er in Princess Agent, she had always been a spoilt brat whom later went rabid, but somehow I loved Xia Meng’s Chun Er. For one, she resembled Li Qin quite a lot hence it was easy to see Chun Er as she used to be in Princess Agent. And Xia Meng’s portrayal of ChunEr is so on point, with her expressions of obsession and vengeance went on full blown. Being a toppled, disgraced princess that she is, she had nothing to drive her life other than the fire of grudge smoldering her heart, and Xia Meng did extremely well in playing the twisted and broken Chun Er.

Really in love with the hair in this show. Everyone had unique, luscious hair: the wavy one on Zhuge Yue, the long, shiny one on Chu Qiao, the full and curly one on Queen of Lingyue, the frizzy one on Yanxun. I love it that they did not put on elaborate hairstyles like most period drama, and they actually let the hair down when they’re sleeping, which is realistic! You dont sleep with your hair still up complete with dangling ornaments, logically one can barely move the head lying down with those heavy trinkets and hairdo weighing down the head without messing them up, but somehow these characters with elaborate hairdo and hairpieces always wake up with perfect hair despite the whole night sleeping in them. And funnily most productions tend to overlook this, maybe to save time on prep time 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I like that they don’t portray everyone to look flawlessly beautiful too! General Huan of the Snowy Tribe had smudged face with faint scar and patchy skin as a seasoned fighter of war, Cheng Yuan had a big ass scar across his face from battle injury, Yan Xun had tanned skin due to decade-long exposure to hard life from his house arrest and bitter cold of Yanbei, Zhuge Yue had blistered lips from frostbite, Chu Qiao’s face wasnt always smooth and fair, Queen of Lingyue had tanned, uneven skin tone and freckles, and Chun-er and Concubine Hu had the most realistic slap bruise on their cheeks. And did you see Chu Qiao’s burnt feet during her flashbacks? That is the most realistic burn injury I’ve ever seen on cdrama! I am really impressed to see battle-hardened face of the Yanbei people, the skin looked very tanned and rough, seemed like flawless makeup is nonexistent in this show, to which I applaud. Best part is even though Queen of Lingyue looks really rough and tanned, i find that she was the most beautiful among all the female characters, especially with her majestic hair. And to see the flashback of her old self in much fairer skintone and smooth face as the reigning queen of Lingyue before they were conquered by King Ximeng and thrown into a war was even more breathtaking. She is truly a beauty. I truly commend the make up department for making the characters look as real as possible. Most importantly they did not try hard to make the mainleads look flawless and beautiful all throughout the show like most idol drama.

I think my starting on this title with a considerable low expectation contributed to my surprise that it didnt tanked too much and this of course affected my ratings. I actually quite enjoy the show despite it being a full on deviation from my favourite novel. This adaptation is less gloomy than the dark novel, and most importantly my favourite supporting characters had slightly better endings than the novel. I mean, at least Li Ce was not killed by his own mother and Huan Huan was not hunted down and brutally killed by her trusted cousin cum brother, Yanxun! Man i had always felt so sorry for the novel’s Li Ce and Huan Huan’s tragic ending each time i read that part (mind you I read the novel 5 times!). I mean, since both adaptations (princess agent and rebirth) fcked up the plot of the novel, I don’t even know which is worse. I was seriously thinking of rating Rebirth 8.5 until i came upon the last 10 episodes. So I decided it’s a tie with the also fcked up Princess Agent. For me the overall plot is mainly acceptable except for the last 10 episodes that got really fcked up and failed to make sense.

For an avid Princess Agent fan, this might be worthwhile since our main couple had the same ending as the novel. We finally get to have the proper closure. But for somebody who just came to know the show without prior experience of the prequel or the novel, this will most likely become a disaster. Proceed with caution.

SPOILER BEYOND THIS LINE!!!







Honestly i really wanna strangle the screenwriter for the lousy last 10 episode. Wth would they waste screentime with Helian-ChengYuan nonsense? 😒🙄 is it so hard to just follow the novel’s plot which is more sound and logical than this one they cooked up? Not only did they turn the plot to downgrade the ML Zhuge Yue into someone so helpless and weak, they also decided to turn Yanxun into a less power hungry monster and became a crybaby who’s so hung up over his love for Chu Qiao. And how the heck did Zhuge Yue survive his double poison that was supposed to kill him and Chu Qiao’s stab straight into his lungs? Not only did he survive those, he also managed to come to Chu Qiao’s rescue against the Quanrong, with a clean white robe that only got splashed with blood while he was charging towards Chu Qiao in the last 50 meters. I was like, what the haillll is going on here? I actually thought Zhuge Yue was Chu Qiao’s imagination before her death, like the rest of the characters who keep imagining their loved ones coming for them before dying. OMG make it make sense!

Despite all the plot chaos, they did decide to have an ending just like the novel, where our main couple lived happily ever after while Yanxun was left alone to lament in his old age without the love of his life. I think the songs, cast acting and the alternate ending was a real saving grace - of how beautiful the lives of each couple couldve been had they took a different choice. Yanxun never releasing the arrow in ice lake, Zhao Che agreeing to go with General Huan and leave the mess he made behind, and Helian Ling agreeing to elope with Cheng Yuan.

Season made for money.

This is just my opinion:

This season is clearly filler. The series could (and should) have ended with Season 2. Making a second part of the story just to keep people waiting was a monumental mistake.

First of all, Season 2 doesn’t have a story as intriguing as Season 1, mainly because we already know who runs the games and how they work overall. Here, we’re just following a character whose goal isn’t particularly relevant.

We follow the story of Player 456,
but also the father’s story,
the woman’s story,
the brother searching for his brother,
and the pregnant girl with her ex.

In short, it’s really messy. Even though some of their individual stories are good, it’s an absolute mess overall.

The ending was predictable but logical the death.

Anyway, this is a season that shouldn’t have existed as Season 3. The series should have just ended with Season 2.

Good season but…

After watching this season 2 this is my review :

Why release a Season 2 that only covers half the story and then make us wait for Season 3?

I think this decision annoyed a lot of people, and I’m one of them. Literally, Season 2 and 3 could have easily been combined into one single season of 10-12 episodes. I really don’t understand why they chose to split it in two, especially with such an important scene.

The story is good, but not as memorable as Season 1. This time the goal is to save people and find out who’s really in charge. The people are still as stupid as ever they see that he knows the games but decide not to believe him. It’s honestly so dumb.

That said, the games themselves are really good. I was pleasantly surprised! The new protagonists are solid too.

The parallel story with the guards is also very interesting.

The cop who’s still looking for his brother makes sense, so that’s fine.

Overall, it’s a good Season 2, but it could have clearly ended the series in just 2 seasons instead of 3.
