Valeu a pena não desistir

Que alegria não ter desistido por causa dos 3 ou 4 primeiros episódios mais arrastados. Confesso que poderiam ter sido resumidos. Duang não era um adulto imaturo, mas sim alguém que pôde crescer sem endurecer, alguém que escolheu amar e agir por si mesmo.

Foi muito satisfatório ver relações de amizade e amor sendo construídas com alegria, respeito e verdade. Ver a elaboração real de um trauma sendo desfeito, sem pressa, com ressignificação e respeito por parte de todos os envolvidos.

Também é bonito ver como o amor e o acolhimento na infância impactam diretamente na forma como um adulto se constrói: livre, inteiro. Uma série LGBT que trata de questões profundas, mas que são universais.

I came across this movie because of ding yuxi, I just recently became a fan and watched all his dramas. This movie is a beautiful tragic love story. But it was too short, fast paced and confusing . I was confused about the ending and ended up searching for the novel. I read the novel and I should say it made me understand the characters better but at the same time the movie plot was also very different from the novel with just a few similarities. I don’t think I have it in me to rewatch this movie even after reading the book. The actors were great I cried when they cried and all and the scene at the ocean and the wedding was beautiful.
Comparing the novel to the movie the novel was a roller coaster of emotions and the movie was just tragic and sad. But both had somewhat happy endings.

A 2 hours' worth of story that got dragged out to 16 episodes.

𓂃 A cheap trick to deceive the viewers right at the beginning. In the opening scene, they make it seem like some kind of horror event is happening, then suddenly cut to mundane everyday life. Around the middle of the episode, they reveal the answer, which turns out to be nothing. It’s just some light, childish play, not any real horror at all. They mislead the viewers just to grab attention. This feels like a cheap trick from those who don’t have the ability to truly hold the audience’s attention.

Apart from that, this drama is super slow and boring

𓂃 I almost dropped it after ep 1, but tried to give it a proper chance. It’s still too boring to watch properly I had to fast-forward and skim ahead from time to time. So, I decided to drop it again after finishing ep 7. But then, I read a review saying it only starts getting better after ep 7, so I gave it another chance.

Ep 8 still the same, though.

The past-life storyline begins in ep 9, but everything is still slow.

Ep 10 still slow. The romance, despite being plain, still manages to feel cheesy at the same time. The ending of ep 10 picks up my attention a bit, but then it goes back to be plain and cheesy and slow in ep 11.

𓂃 At this point, I can conclude that this story is never meant to be a full-fetched 16-ep drama. There’s nothing in the story. What they do is stretching a 2-hour movie into 16–17 hours. This is a scam!

𓂃 At this stage, there're 5 ep left for me, so I decided to see it through to the end. My annoyance level keeps going up, though, with the amount of time they’re stealing from me. And I expect to see the ML kill the FL in the past life now. Anything less intense would just be pathetic.

Ok, in the last 5 episodes, the ML actually does kill the FL in their past life during a prisoner chase even though he had just rescued her from prison. He even volunteers to be the one to kill her, but the reason is so lame. He says he doesn’t want her to be dismembered. What the hell! How weak the reason is! In that scene, a palace guard is already about to kill her with an arrow while the rival shaman tells him not to fear the FL's curse, guaranteeing that he can prevent it.

Each episode is still way too slow. The main plot points are scattered with only a few in each episode. They really stretch this out a lot. I almost don’t want to believe this is a Korean drama, which normally doesn’t drag things out this excessively like Chinese dramas that go on for 36, 40 or even 50 episodes as a norm. This is only 16 episodes, but it honestly doesn’t feel worth more than 2 hours.

𓂃 Apart from that, I don’t see any good acting from the supporting roles. They don’t really serve any purpose in this drama anyway. I don’t feel any presence from any of them. On the contrary, some of them are even outright annoying.

For example, the ML’s dad. What the hell is his lame reasoning? His behavior is basically victim-blaming. He also opposes the leads’ relationship like a literal idiot with no brain. He's irrational in a way that only happens in a soap opera. Yeah… this is exactly what it is—a lame melodrama soap opera series.

𓂃 After ep 1, I gave this a 4.5, but more nonsense kept piling up along the way. It dropped to 4 after ep 7. And this final score reflects my level of annoyance and frustration at the peak after finishing everything. The actual quality is probably around 3, but I’m so upset with the plot and the drag that it ends up at 2.

Unique Story Idea

I watched Shadow Beauty and here’s my honest take:

The story was interesting at first, but it didn’t fully keep me hooked. Some parts felt a bit slow and predictable, even though the main idea is actually pretty unique.

The acting was decent overall. The main character did a good job showing the contrast between her two lives, but some emotional scenes didn’t hit as strongly as they could have.

Rewatch value for me is quite low, since once you know the plot twist, there’s not much that makes you want to go back.

Overall, it’s an okay drama. Not amazing, but still watchable if you’re into high school or identity-based stories.

Um dos meus BLs favoritos japones

Percebi que nunca tinha feito uma resenha sobre esse BL. Hoje eu o reassisti e pensei que deveria. Particularmente gosto muito de assistir qualquer coisa que tenha esse enredo de relacionamentos, dramas familiares e tals. Sem um vilão que separa o casal ou algo assim, apenas uma historia mais vida real.
Esse BL me tira da minha zona de conforto, porque me vi compactuando com coisas que não concordo, como a traição KKKKKKKKKKK Só que nesse caso é para assistirmos e pensarmos na vida real. Não quer dizer que temos que concordar com o que os protagonistas fizeram, não foi certo e isso é um fato, porém é compreensivel. Existiam outras maneiras de resolver os problemas deles? Sim, só que da mesma forma que muitas vezes fazemos escolhas erradas, os personagens também fazem.
Na situação dos quatro personagens, só não consegui entender o lado do parceiro do Nakarai, porque a maneira agressiva como ele reagiu ao descobrir a "traição" não me agradou. Nos meus paremetros, traição e agressão não tem o mesmo peso, e uma não justifica a outra. Então, apesar da traição, na minha opinião isso não dá abertura para você quebrar o celular do seu parceiro na parede de um jeito assustador, que me causou gatilhos, e depois forçar uma relação sexual mesmo com ele dizendo que não queria (Deixando claro que eles não eram namorados, então não é exatamente uma traição no caso deles, mas, ainda que fosse, não justificaria a reação do cara) Enfim, não gosto desse personagem.
Agora, sobre a namorada do Kazuaki, vi muitas pessoas nos comentarios na época em que assisti, xingando ela e tudo mais, enquanto com o parceiro do Nakarai ninguém dizia nada. Vi até edits dele no TikTok. Dá para perceber a diferença e o nome que isso tem. Porque ela não fez nada além do que se faria se descobrisse estar sendo traida, e o fato dela não querer transar com ele não era algo abominavel, ele deveria ter dito estar insatisfeito também, no caso deles, ambos tinham que ter conversado e ambos tem culpa do relacionamento estar uma merda. Voltando a ela, acho que tinha muitas questões pessoais que a faziam não querer ter relações com o namorado. Poderia ser porque ela fosse assexual, poderia ser por traumas que ela não lembrava, poderia ser por ela apenas não gostar ou algo que acontece muito e que me fez pensar nisso quando ela diz que não gosta do lado "masculino" dele: você não saber que é lésbica, nunca curtir sexo com seu parceiro e seguir a vida achando que aquilo acontece com toda mulher de não curtir relações com o parceiro, quando muitas vezes você só não gosta de homens. Não sei qual era a situação dela, mas senti empatia. E apesar dos pensamentos homofóbicos dela ao descobrir que foi traida com um homem, ainda senti muita pena, ninguém merece ser traida.
Sobre o Nakarai, ele tem um passado triste. Ele só tinha o amigo como apoio e era apaixonado por ele, deixando isso claro várias vezes. Só que por motivos de culpa, o amigo acabou mantendo distancia. O Nakarai se forçou muito a caber onde não havia espaço. Ele poderia ter seguido em frente e tentado superar seus sentimentos, porque, como disse antes, o amigo dele não seria uma boa pessoa para se relacionar. Ele escolheu não se envolver com o Nakarai, mas em um surto de ciúmes, fez o que fez.
Resumindo, gostei muito desse BL justamente porque ele dá muito o que falar. Dá para analisar cada personagem, os acontecimentos e várias questões sobre relacionamentos. Eu gosto de assistir algo e ficar um tempão divagando sobre aquilo, sobre as escolhas questionaveis dos personagens. Vale muito a pena. Apesar disso, eu gostaria que tivesse mais episodios mostrando os protagonistas lidando com o relacionamento entre eles, como seria, se daria certo, já que tinham tanto em comum e se davam tão bem.

A Love That Melts Your Heart and Breaks It at the Same Time

Every scene they share is sweet, heartbreaking, and makes me smile right along with them. It’s truly the pinnacle of romance at its highest level. This series has completely captured my heart and soul. Everything is absolutely stunning — from the plot, the visuals, the soundtrack, and the acting, all the way to the standout ending that will stay with me for a very long time.

quando clichês são bem feitos….

de primeiro eu não tinha gostado tanto, talvez o jeito do duang me irritava um pouco, essa fofura excessiva,sentia uma pontada de infantilidade, mas não é isso que eu acho mais!!! talvez oque deixou tudo muito bem equilibrado foi sua dualidade em certas situações, quando precisou ser sério ele ficou, quando precisou ser sexy,ele ficou. esse grande conjunto o fez tornar um ótimo personagem!!! Quin é um personagem muito bem desenvolvido e uma grande lore pesada mas a maneira de pensar e reagir foi bem coerente, não senti nada de errado nas tramas, todas bem começadas e terminadas e todas as respostas estão ali, nada deixou passar.
sobre os personagens secundários, eu queria que tivessem dando um final mais concreto, ficou meio ambíguo oq eles tinha e o terciário bem… mais ambíguo ainda. não entendi o porquê de não ter dado um status, mas isso não atrapalhou de a gente receber migalhas de uma química ENORME!!!!!!

enfim, sentirei saudades 😭

Stile impeccabile, cast memorabile, sceneggiatura che necessita del rinforzo del sequel

“Made in Korea” cattura lo spettatore fin da subito con un inizio ad effetto, un dirottamento aereo girato come un film d’azione hollywoodiano, per poi trasformarsi in un thriller politico ambientato nella Corea del Sud degli anni ’70. Non lo definirei un capolavoro assoluto, ma nemmeno un’occasione sprecata, piuttosto una curiosa e apprezzabile via di mezzo che alterna luci abbaglianti e ombre profonde.
Punti di forza indiscussi della serie sono la componente visiva-tecnica e il cast. Rispetto alla prima, la fotografia è curatissima, capace di restituire l’atmosfera opprimente e sporca della dittatura militare di Park Chung Hee. Saltano agli occhi gli ambienti trascurati e deprimenti, dai luoghi di lavoro alle abitazioni private fino alle riprese girate per strada. Le location, i costumi, le luci e la colonna sonora strumentale costruiscono un mondo particolarmente affascinante, dove ogni inquadratura è studiata nel dettaglio. Una particolare menzione va alla scena finale, uno spaccato in bianco e nero di notevole impatto, visivo ed emotivo. E’ una vera e propria chiusura in bellezza, che cala il sipario elegantemente e con la tacita promessa di sollevarlo di nuovo (la serie prevede infatti un sequel).
Per quanto riguarda il cast, ci si è davvero superati: da una parte uno splendido Hyun Bin, di ritorno ai drama dopo ben sette anni dal suo ultimo lavoro – “Crash landing on you” – che lo ha consacrato a livello internazionale. Attore più noto per ruoli romantici ed eroici, qui si trasforma in un villain multi sfaccettato, un narcotrafficante senza scrupoli, freddo e calcolatore, che perdipiù lavora per i servizi segreti coreani. Il ritratto che offre è altamente caratterizzante: l’espressione trattenuta, una sigaretta accesa con lentezza, un sorriso che non arriva mai agli occhi. Al suo fianco, Jung Woo Sung è il contraltare perfetto: attore per me nuovo e principalmente dedito a film piuttosto che a serie tv, riesce a dare vita a un personaggio davvero unico e credibile: il suo procuratore Jang Geon Yeong è un tornado caotico, genuino e quasi comico in certi frangenti – la sua risata, così compiaciuta ed eccessiva, ne è un esempio - ma con una determinazione incrollabile. La loro dinamica è di fatto il vero motore della serie.
Accanto a loro, l’apparizione un po’ fugace di Woo Do Hwan nei panni del fratello di Baek Gi Tae – che conto però riesca a ritagliarsi maggiore spazio nel sequel – e soprattutto Jung Sung II, attore che ho già visto e apprezzato in “The Glory” e che, ancora una volta, interpreta un personaggio intrigante ed ermetico, capace di emanare un’aura di potente sicurezza e di mettere anche un po’ di soggezione. Molto buona anche la prova di Seo Eun Soo nel ruolo dell’ispettrice Oh, mentre Won Ji An veste un po’ a fatica i panni della figlia adottiva della Yakuza, la mafia giapponese.
Meno solida è invece la struttura narrativa. Il drama conta in tutto sei episodi: troppi per essere un film, troppo pochi per sviluppare adeguatamente l’intricato groviglio di personaggi e sottotrame che introduce. L’effetto, in alcuni tratti, è quello di una sinossi illustrata: si salta dal Vietnam al Giappone in dieci minuti, la yakuza viene prima citata e poi introdotta, ma resta l’impressione di non averla mai inquadrata veramente; vi è un accenno a un passato nella guerra del Vietnam che resta quasi uno sfondo decorativo, salvo poi cercare di acquisire un senso verso la fine. Le relazioni – in primis quelle tra i fratelli Baek – sono solo abbozzate e appaiono più come delle premesse che quali legami vissuti.
Questa compressione genera, di fatto, uno strano paradosso: la serie è allo stesso tempo troppo lenta e troppo veloce. Troppo lenta quando si perde in dialoghi tra uomini di potere – si arriva fino ai vertici della Casa Blu – tra mosse e contromosse, doppio giochi che diventano tripli, se non quadrupli o quintupli. Troppo veloce quando, per arrivare alla fine, si risolvono conflitti complessi con un colpo di scena o un’azione violenta, senza dare il tempo allo spettatore di elaborare il tutto. Vuole essere al contempo un thriller serrato e un drama politico profondo, ma alla fine non è pienamente né l’una né l’altra cosa.
Un altro nodo critico sono le figure femminili, davvero sotto tono. Siamo nella Corea degli anni ’70, un contesto patriarcale, e la serie non fa nulla per scalfire questo scenario. Le attrici sono relegate a ruoli di contorno: la spalla comica, la donna isterica, la pedina da proteggere o da usare. Fa eccezione il personaggio di Ikeda/Choi Yu Ji, una donna fredda e ambiziosa, ma la sua presenza è limitata e non del tutto convincente.
Eppure, nonostante tutto, Made in Korea è comunque un drama che si lascia ampiamente apprezzare e che mi sento di consigliare, in primis per la scelta insolita e a suo modo rischiosa: in un panorama ormai saturo di romance e fantasy, un thriller politico cupo, senza il prevedibile lieto fine e con un protagonista malvagio è paragonabile a una boccata d’aria fresca. Inoltre, la seconda stagione potrebbe compensare le pecche sopracitate, dando più spazio ai personaggi secondari e riprendendo le sottotrame lasciate in sospeso. Sicuramente, ad oggi e senza quindi una seconda stagione, “Made in Korea” appare come un drama imperfetto, per quanto affascinante. Il classico prodotto “di prestigio” che pecca di un po’ di presunzione, dove l’estetica e l’alto livello del cast non annullano i difetti della sceneggiatura. Le sei ore passate davanti allo schermo non sono però un peso, soprattutto grazie alle interpretazioni di Hyun Bin e Jung Woo Sung, ma alla fine si resta con la sensazione di aver assistito a una grande prova di stile più che a una grande storia. Per quest’ultima, a quanto pare, sarà imprescindibile attendere la seconda stagione.

Glad I gave short dramas a shot, but never again.

I had an inkling short dramas like that are not my thing, but you never know unless you try right? I tried, and I was bored to death. I could have followed my gut feeling, but as a person who enjoys scientific method, I rather test it.

Rainkissed Fate is pure entertainment with no depth, no logic, lots of abs and kisses. Sadly the lack of substance is what made me want to fall asleep. I’m one of the people who needs to care for the characters to enjoy the drama, and I could not care less for leads here. Bu Yan was honestly awful and immoral. The whole premise of her wanting to get pregnant just to use her new kid as spare parts for the one she already had grossed me out so much I did not exactly wish her well… oops.

I don’t really have much to say about He Yu Chen, kind of gave me nothing, but the abs. I know, I know - this is why we watch these dramas. But it’s just not enough for me. Abs and shower scenes should be the cherry on top of the dessert, not the whole meal.

The chemistry was amazing, that’s a fact. The kissing scenes were great. The few slapping scenes were even better (I love a good slap in a drama). The villain was dumb, but entertaining in a frustrating way.

Honestly, the most fun part of the drama was how they kept referring to kickboxing as boxing. And saying male lead is a boxer, as he fly kicks his opponents in the ring. That’s the true entertainment of this title. I found this mistake in naming especially funny, because the writer actually got a few medical aspects right - half assing the research? One would think finding out you cannot in fact kick in boxing would be easier than the details of leukemia treatment.

No thoughts on acting, this is not a show that is carried by the acting. It’s a show that’s carried by the abs and kisses.

Overall, glad I watched even if I did not enjoy it. This is just truly not my genre.

A completely different vibe from Season 1...

Sometimes MDL drives me crazy. When you have a 24 episode Season 2 it would have been nicer to decide first if you want to split the three arcs in three seperate pages or not. If I had not seen this page by chance I would never ever had an idea I should do a review here too. (And if you say you wrote the same in the other review, of course I did, this stresses me out!)

When "New Sijaw" is not directing the childification of any series disappears (even when he showed he can do differently too) which elevates this series in a huge way. But of course they could not pass on stupid soundeffects to make it a drama only, they always need some comedic relief.

The negative point of this story arc is the 2D villain father which comes straight from a trash detective novel. On the other hand we have a reunification with Phoons mom, which was a very nice touch.

After two years of being "together" I expected them to work out well and they did. Especially Tonliews ability to cry by a press of a button (I mean of course the call to "action") is incredible (if you see some of the BTS you see him laughing in one moment, then comes the scene and he looks like a very sad puppy crying his eyes out).

Central to the story is of course Phoons friendgroup, especially Ter and North pushing Phoon into the arms of Fah. Yes we would like to have such a friendgroup as well with undenying support always. The only sad point is that we don't see the 5th couple in this arc, after they very quite prominent in arcs one and two.

Production quality was top notch, except when they had to use on-body microphones which made it sound a bit muffeled in certain scenes. I only think this would be even better when they also went with 21:9 movie format.

Overall this was very nice to watch and so much better than most crap shows coming from Thailand this year. 24/25 we had Fourever You, Part 1 vs Your Sky and both were underwhelming equally, but this year, Fourever You, Part 2 vs Duang with You and the clear winner is Fourever You!
