Does not fall prey to the Shounen plot of FREINDSHIP! saves all

So this is your typical locked-in-to-reveal-your-nasty-secrets plot. What made this great is that it does not fall prey to the Shounen plot of FREINDSHIP! saves all. This was a right and proper horror series and thanks to that it gets a 9.

The title starts out with a creepily happy guy gathering all his former classmates to play a murder mystery game. He hands them a book that has their secrets in it. Then locks them in the building. Then the trues game of survival begins.

So many of the titles have "If we just love the bad guy he will instantly become good" plot line that this was very refreshing that is was a true horror title. This is a good halloween watch if your in the mood.

Karma is a beautiful fearful bitch.

The story revolves around a man that was abandoned as a child and was brought up by the hard knock life of the streets. Money was his only goal and little old ladies were easy targets. Helps an elder lady while on the lam for his crimes because he just could not leave her after a moped accident. Thus the story begins.

The story is told very slowly, almost unbearably slow, but the redemption arc is amazing and how we all love karma and her wicked ways of balancing justice is woven perfectly into this story.

The cast does an amazing job of bringing these characters to life to tell the story written by some excellent screenwriters. If you have the patience for this i recommend it.

A Rather Disappointing Adaptation of the original Webcomic

So I'm a reader of the original Navillera webcomic. When i heard they were adapting it, I was absolutely thrilled! I couldn't wait!

So while there were *some* things I absolutely didn't mind being changed (one change was to give one of DukChul's granddaughters more focus); too much was removed and changed from the webcomic to the point it was very jarring and just overall disappointing. Unlike the inspiration and warmth of the comic, all i felt was something hollow and empty in the drama.

I personally suggest reading the webcomic over watching the drama.

Great Drama

I have never seen any of the actors in a drama before, so I'm not watching this as a fan.

I watched it because the FL character seemed cool.

The best thing about this drama is how the director made each shot look pretty. The fight scenes are like dancing. I've taken so many screenshots here, because it's just so pretty. The music goes with the scenes and I thought the production was the best thing about this drama.

The story was interesting. It slowed a bit between ep. 12-16 and I thought I saw a lot of plot holes but they might have been purposely placed there. lol.

The logic wasn't too hard to follow and I didn't have to wrack my brains to follow any of the intrigue.

I was most drawn to the Gong Shang Jue/Shanghuan Qian and Gong Yuan Zhi story.
I found them way more interesting than the main leads. The story tries to develop the other characters besides the main characters (which is great) and I just kept getting interested in Gong Shang Jue/Shanghuan Qian and Gong Yuan Zhi. Their story, I found was more touching/interesting.

I don't think the story was perfect but this drama kept getting me hooked.

The weakness is the romance. I just don't buy it, because it's all based on lies. However, I watch dramas for entertainment and not necessary the romance, and I thought this drama has a more interesting story than other dramas. The romance isn't the main feature of this drama, so it was ok. They didn't focus on it.

If you're looking for something interesting, check this out.

this made me want to kill myself

as much as the first movie in the series already wasn't a masterpiece, this shit it just ridiculous. first of all, at least 20 minutes of both second and third part is just repeating scenes from the first part (the aoyama and child haruto kiss scene is repeated at least a thousand times). also the same piano piece plays the entire time thru the whole series, which after a while made me lose my mind. the plot is horribly stupid, too many poor plot twists that didnt make much sense, but i personally enjoy watching absolute dogshit. the problem is, WHY IS IT SO BORING? without the unnecessary repetitions, the second and third part could make a decent one if merged together. but as separate movies, theyre just pretty fucking boring, especially this one. also, was ruka being fucking dubbed the entire time? i couldnt focus on anything else than his voice being unnaturally louder, clearer and emotionless than the others. honestly the only good thing about this part would be that one seiya and the crusty old man sex scene, just because i find seiyas actor insanely attractive. nothing more to it, the first part was definitely enough

twists and punchline

I’m watching some of the shows I didn’t had a chance to finish. And this one…. I was surprised with the amount of backstabbing and twists. There were moments I really thought: “that’s it! “ But the rollercoaster/pinball bounced again. I love this sort of shows. Interesting fact: Nobody talks about this show. If you like the same style of shows… go for it. Corruption, prosecutors and law firms a lot. Gotta love this! Plus…I did watch because of these ladies… Lee Bo-young and Park Se-young ❤️❤️✌🏻

Revenge At ALL Cost

I have not seen the anime but by the previous review I need to.

The story revolves around revenge which starts out with the scarring of a woman's face. The MOST HEINOUS crime of all of Asian culture. Her attacker provokes her by saying she deserves to live the scars cause she will always think of him when she sees them. She will get revenge in exchange for her own soul going to the same place she is sending his.

Thus begins the never ending cycle of revenge Japan loves to showcase. "When seeking revenge, dig 2 graves".
There was no lead time between each incident, thus it felt cramped and hindered by the short time span of the movie. I had no context who the four harbingers were that accompanied lady death. Its Time passer, but only if nothing else is available.

Arena Becomes Biggest Seafood Bowl Of All Time!

The Story, Typical Kaiju Origination Story: Science + Seafood delivery Bicycle accident equals bad acting, high School Kaiju costumes and a fake scientist rivalry.

So Why would I rate this an 8.5? Because I could not keep the smile off my face. All the absurdity that I believe would really happen From the Prime Minister to the TV spots and Youtubers. Because reality is absurd. Just think for moment, if you will, if a giant Cow, Sheep and Chicken appeared in a Western country: How would our respective governments handle it? Would the reality be any less absurd?

The rewatch value falls into the category of what did I miss that might actually occur IRL.

Wanted it to be better

As a huge fan of crime/legal dramas, I was really looking forward to this one! Especially since one of the main characters is a lawyer, I was thinking we would get some good courtroom/law scenes that we just...didn't get. I understand that the plot of this one was about figuring out how to catch a killer that has way more power than the victim, but a lot of it just felt like it had been done before in so many better renditions. Plus, the relationship didn't seem to develop all that smoothly? It seemed like at one point they hated each other and then all of a sudden they were together? It felt like a show that could have been done really well if given the proper time and budget, but it just fell a little flat in both the romance and the murder storylines.

A little, just a little, boring (In a cute way, but still, boring).

Hmm I have mixed feelings for this series. At the same time that was cute, it was boring.

The storyline it's just... annoying? It's another lazy script from GMM, nothing surprising. But I really like Joong (Kluen) and Dao (Dunk) bcs of their chemistry. At the end of the day, I'm being way too easy on this review bcs I'm biased.

Their acting is ok, they have good chemistry and it's okay, nothing special tho. Since I have already watched them in another series and it was their first job together, it's great to see that they improved since Star In My Mind.

In resume, it's cute, but still way too boring and I watched in 2x just to say that I watched bcs I like the pairing. Going to watch the second part (Sky In Your Heart) now!

just doesn't work for me

the tearjerking story of the two kids in the first episode strangely didn't touch me at all. It's really strage, as the story itself of violent parents is definitely something normally getting to me, but here - nothing. I also didn't find the two actors very convincing, and it just seemed... 'invented' and also exaggerated, especially when they are on that ship to flee, and that very young boy gets beaten almost to death by the girl's psycho dad. I didn't understand, why he didn't just tell the girl on the ship when he saw her father outside at the port, they both could easily have hidden in the ships toilet until it had taken off, and nothing bad would have happened? Next thing, the boy super tragically leaves the girl without warning her, and then he is the one going straight towards her dad at the port and bringing his attention to them both, thus confirming with his behaviour the girl is on the ship? Then we see how is is badly beaten, holding the aggro-dad off from going onto the ship... we see how the ship with the still clueless girl is finally leaving the port - and then all of a sudden, the dad is on the ship? How?? How did he even get on, without a ticket, and when the ship had actually already taken off? Didn't make any sense to me and it all seemed to be a forced story to make it extra extra tragic.

The dad can then even chase his daughter like a serial killer all around that huge ship without anyone hindering him? No personell there? No security? After he almost killed a boy for all to see at the port, leaving him there presumably dead?
The girl jumps into the water to escape the dad - cut - she is alone on a remote island.
There she has some interesting items, tea pots and whatnot, no one knows wherefrom she has all these things as she actually dropped the huge bagpack that was filled with all the good stuff on the ship, when she ran from her father.

Another cut, and it's 15 years later, so we jumped from around 2008 to 2023. Interestingly enough our now 15 years older island girl has a great haircut with nice longer wavy bangs - one wonders how she managed that all alone? Even more, she still has that same set of clothing, the only clothing she had actually for 15 (fifteen!!) years, and these clothes are perfectly fine, not torn, or ripped, colours not washed out =D

So, after these 15 long years, finally, and no one knows why it didn't happen all the years before, some dorkies with their drones are suddenly there, and our island girl is supposed to see the first human after those many years alone. They take her back into civilisation and .... I re-checked like how long was she supposed to be gone? And since when, which year? So, she was lost there since 2008. A rather modern time I'd say? Yet, when she is back in the city, she suddenly acts like a person from rather 1800, not 2008, trying to use a water tap in the bathroom, not knowing how to actually use it and then spreading water all around the bathroom like an idiot? Did she not know water taps back in 2008? they make her seem like she grew up in the jungle since she was a toddler, why?

And I could go on with these things...I really like Park Eun-bin, she had some great dramas in the past and she is good actress, but here, the story is so lacking basic sense, even she can't save it for me.

I am really annoyed meanwhile that many promising new dramas do not pay attention to anything concering logic and intelligence. Things don't have to be perfect but the mistakes just can't be that obvious and jumping at me like that, at least I get so annoyed and distracted I don't want to go on watching at all.

Revenge at its best

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch this drama. Once I started I ended up binging this drama in two days and now I’m sorry it’s over.

I was intrigued as I watched Dong Eun methodically take down the bullies as she got them to all turn against each other. I felt no sympathy for any of them. Relished in the fact that the Mom and daughter ended up behind bars; and that Yeon Jin lost everything. No surprise that she went nuts because she was already nuts in high school.

The ending was perfection for me. I hate when the perpetrators get off easy.

Writing My First Review Because Scent of Time Surprised Me

It is very RARE that I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the drop of every new episode of a costume drama series. Typically I drudge through all the filler episodes to get to the exciting good parts, and most of the time I get very disappointed with an anti-climatic ending. The ONLY other drama series that defied all expectations was Joy of Life Season 1. I eagerly await for Season 2, but while waiting, I stumble upon this "Scent of Time" series. Seemed pretty contrived and over-played storyline in the beginning, but very quickly I was drawn into the unpredictable plot, and the twists and turns of events in every new episode. I have NO idea what the FL is going to do next, and THAT is why I have rated this series so highly - It is very difficult to achieve what "Joy of Life" and "Scent of Time" have done - keep you engaged, make you care about what will happen to the people in the story, and surprise you again and again. I haven't finish watching the end of this drama yet, BUT I can't wait!

PS - Of course, Joy of Life is still better than Scent of Time, but that is a high bar to overcome, and you can tell that a whole lot more money were spent on the production of Joy of Life than Scent of Time.

A bit disappointing to say the least

I went in with pretty mild expectations as it does have a rating of 7.3, which is a good score in my opinion. But I was sorely disappointed with the series.

While the acting was pretty good, and I did appreciate the interesting settings of split personality disorder, but the plot just feels extremely choppy. One thing happens, then suddenly it jumps, and it doesn't seem like there was a conclusion either. I'm bad at describing things, but generally what i felt was that it just kept skipping skipping skipping, very much possibly because it had to fit everything into 4 short episodes.

The main couple's relationship was not fleshed out at all, and Top was even presented as a 'cheating' jerk in the first episode. The synopsis made it sound like the Top's arranged relationship keeps getting in their way, but honestly she only appeared for 5min. That was it. While I do like Noah being YS's protector, I don't understand how he suddenly just changes his mind in the span of 3min and trusts WZ enough to rely on him.

Then there's the second couple that was just there for no reason at all. They were not even mentioned until the very last 10min of the last episode, and their relationship went from a misunderstanding scene, and skip skip skip straight to years later where they somehow just miraculously made up without explanation. This is why I gave the show such a low rating, and this is me being generous with a 5. It has a nonsensical plot that just cuts out everything and anything. I only gave it a 5 to applaud the actors' efforts for the nsfw scenes as they probably put a lot of work into them.

Kdrama with a brilliant Start turns Really Really Bad

Ok I m going to try and avoid too many spoilers and in depth time travel explanations.
Firstly the first 6 episodes of this drama just blew me away it felt like so much happened and every minute of each episode was interesting. I was excited. (As with all time travel takes you just get on with it.) BUT THEN he meets his mother in a different timeline so we have moved from (time loop to multiverse type stuff) so apparently not really his mother but it his mother right down to the small mole on her face. What follows is a fucking romance plot between this guy and his mother that persists and persists and is just so stupid gross and out of place that it forebodes the disaster that the time travel and plot of the show develops into. It was so unnneccessary the ML had a grand love interst there waiting if writer needed a bit of romance but unbelievably the 2FL becomes a love rival in the most cliched and stupid cohabiting plot line. I just and i mean this could not believe what I was watching. I actually felt so cheated LOL. Do not waste your time watching it. I stuck with it for way too long and the plot became more ridiculous as we went along.
Also to all those who say "oh well its a differnt time line shes not his mother" my answer is WTF i dont care you should not have to think about stuff like that so hard as your watching them forced into romantic scenes ugh she was his fucking mother. Also when he first meets his mom/not mom and she asks to see a pic of his actual mom as he only has told her she looks really really like his mom. He doesnt show her one as he doesnt have it with him oops. Very convenient because the Writer knows if he has to write that scene its going to be like this : FL "show me a pic of your mom you brought from your timeline" Ml "here" FL "holy shit thats me I am actually your mom oh gross i cant believe i thought you were hot oh ugh this is too weird okay I beleive you let me help you like a mom but I am definitely not going to get all hot and bothered and doe eyed when you stare at me sleeping or i take off your shirt or you lean over me to get a plate or i treat your wounds or i get drunk and you sing a love song cause that would be weird as Fuck hell no im not doing any of that phew im glad we cleared that up early" of course all that stupid stuff happened bye bye Weird Show by weird writer with mom issues.
