Watch it!!

I have no other way to describe this show than amazing!!! There is absolutely no story to this show and somehow it doesn’t matter! This was my first bl show and nothing every compares to it!! I have such a big love in my heart for both the leads! The acting is super, when I’m watching the show it feels like I’m not watching a show but someone’s actual life! There are so many cute moments in this show that will make your heart just burst!! There are a few uncomfortable scenes within the show that I feel are unnecessary, but overall fantastic!!

A classic rom-com drama, not bad but non that remarkable either....

If you are up for a feel-good drama, with good looking people falling in love , this drama is for you!
I was actually looking for this type of drama afer watching "revenant" lol, i guess i needed some romance to heal my heart lol.

The story: i get that it is a light - hearted drama, but i kind of wanted the male lead to be less lazy in the first 10 episodes, i wish the writers gave his character more dept. Some parts of the script didn't make sense though, it felt less realistic .And some important society issues were actually brushed out with comedy ; laughing it out wasn't on my point of view the best way to handle it.

Acting department: i liked Yoona in this one! i will definitely check out her other dramas.

i wouldn't rewatch this drama , and overall it wasn't that bad, i didn't skip or fast-forwarded any scene, so i will give it an 8/10.

Amazing show!!

I have repeatedly watched this show and honestly it’s so good, while shows with big age gaps (regardless of gender) tend not to be my thing, the actors have such great chemistry that I couldn’t help but love it. The story gets a small bit annoying in the middle of the show but it recovers really well and the relationship showed here is really healthy and wholesome! I like the ml isn’t like most “boss/ceo” types you usually see, and the fl isn’t super annoying! I would recommend this show as an entry level into c-dramas

Not for me

I am dropping this show after watching just 4 episodes because I gave this a go as my friend really likes the ml but tbh I just couldn’t get into the show! Shows with idols usually aren’t my favourite anyways, but my friend really likes this idol I decided to be as unbiased as possible when watching it. However for me the age gap is off putting to me and the actors lacked any real chemistry (which in my opinion has less to do with their obvious age gap and more the performance from both actors)! The music was ok, and the cinematography is really nice it’s just the acting and story that isn’t really to my taste, however I can see people who like the ml liking it for him.

Have you ever seen such a bond stronger than this? Have you ever seen a drama as good as this?

I was so drawn and inspired by the positive comments about the drama that I wanted to be a part of the experience. This is my first time actually leaving a comment on MDL, and I’m so excited that MLC will be my first drama so please go easy on me.
MLC was in one word exceptional; from the acting, the story, the fight scenes, scenery, and music. Completely phenomenal. And I don’t say this lightly, because dramas with so many episodes always have me worried that I’ll start losing interest and never make it to the end, but that was not the case with MLC. I was hooked after LLH first smirk, although the intro fight was great b/t LXY and DFS as well. I’m a huge fan of mystery dramas and the way the cases were investigated and solved for one big giant plot was nicely done. The crime-solving duo of LLH and FDB was an added bonus reminding me of Sherlock & Watson.

Plot: A lone young hero who was a legend and brought the martial world to a common stand fought against an adversary responsible for his senior’s death. The battle was fierce as the seas raged and danced against the boat, one fighting to seek justice and the other to see who’s the best. But a winner was not decided that night as both fell into the sea injured and never seen again. The martial world became chaotic without the young hero, and time eventually forgotten his importance until 10 years later the martial world will be shaken once again with cases, conspiracies, betrayal, and twists no one would see coming. A doctor living a carefree life by the name Li Lianhua who’s searching for someone finds himself reluctantly in the mist of the chaos, no thanks to a young detective named Fang Duobing that drags him into case after case. The cases they solve seems to connects the past to the present, and with Di Fei Sheng alive the martial world may just once again need a hero, but can a dead hero save the martial world unless maybe he’s not dead. And is Di Fei Sheng the only threat?

One thing I definitely want to point out is the enjoyable writing of the story, the dialogues between the 3 male leads was really good. You never knew what to expect from them b/t DFS dry humor, FDB gullible/innocence, LLH sarcastic wittiness. And the women characters were written very well showcasing them strong and capable including JLQ. There were sprinkled hints of romance, but it neither overpowered/ ruined the drama. Although it was sad to see them fall in love with a dying man, even I couldn’t resist his charm and “I’m not easy to sway” (quoting my friends on that).

As for the bromance OMG don’t get me started 😊. When I started the drama, I was on the LLH and DFS hinted close bond band wagon excited to see their interactions with each other especially with LLH in a bride dress getting picked on by DFS and FDB, and then LLH and DFS sharing wine in the wedding chamber teasing BL fans, because FDB came off as more of a child and them seeming like his parents if that makes any type of sense. Gradually though my feelings of that changed I enjoyed LLH and FDB interactions the most throughout the drama and even went back to pay more attention to their interactions. And the little subtle teases they gave BL fans with FDB waking up to LLH face so close, FDB getting upset that LLH and A Fei shared a secret, that LLH chose to skip their moon date for the woman, and even going as far to question how did LLH get drugged (quickly admitting he just drunk from the same cup as the princess and nothing more). Then there’s the always running from the marriage and its always away with LLH😏, getting angry when LLH tells him maybe he should settle down, and the verbal declaration FDB has said many times over in the drama “I can go where you go, where would you like to go?” FDB is always planning their future together. Even FDB’s mother pretty much outs him in front of LLH saying how FDB talks about him a lot and praises LLH, even going as far to quote FDB “didn’t you say you found a bosom friend in life, and it was worth traveling to the martial world. You said you only wished to travel with him again.” They even have pet names “old fox and young fox” lol, or all the touching FDB boldly does and let’s not forget LLH gave FDB a piece of candy. Of course that doesn’t seem like much, but the only other person he has given candy to was QWM. Hint Hint anyways dialing back the fangirling……..

I loved how they showed that no matter the difference in how long you’ve known someone it doesn’t mean a newer friendship couldn’t be just as strong. LLH was one of the most lovable characters I’ve seen in awhile, he was sarcastic, strong, smart, humble, loyal and extremely kind that it was no wonder he had friends old and new. And the bonds that connected LLH to others varied. The Sigu Sect believed in and respected him, SXY trusted and liked him, ZYF was loyal to him (honoring a 10yr old bet even though LXY had supposedly been dead). As for DFS and FDB, it’s a lot more behind the bonds they share with LLH. Mind you I still haven’t had a chance to read the novel so these are just my thoughts based off the drama, I’m aware that the 3 male leads are supposed to have tight bond but definitely see one bond stronger than the other:

LLH, FDB, and DFS share a few things in common, that connects through their bond. Besides all been handsome men 😍They are all orphans, they aspired to be the best in the martial world, and stood by code that believed in. LLH and FDB were just and DFS although rougher never harm women and children (which he admits in one of the last 2 episodes). All were betrayed by SDG be it emotionally or physically.

FDB and DFS have come to an understanding of respect, and can both agree on how they both want LLH to live. FDB realized that DFS isn’t as bad as he seems especially when he shows concern for DFS well being when he faints, and DFS even shows concern ask LLH shouldn’t he check on FDB after SDG is killed.

There has been many times in the drama where they show DFS being a little crazy when it came to LLH, pointed out by JLQ alot and yes it comes off a bit obsessive times, it wasn’t because of some crazy love for LLH but an admiration of skills. Which DFS pretty much tells JLQ himself, that he hates her because she was a hateful person nothing more than tat. Had she been more supportive of DFS dream of wanting to stand at the top of the martial world and allowing DFS and LLH a fair fight he would not have disregarded her with such contempt. After all he did once save her, so he had to have cared for her at one point, but she just didn’t understand DFS as well as she thought and her herself turned into a stalkerish crazy b$#@#.

As for DFS and LLH, they shared experiences together that gave them a certain understanding and respect for each other. And although DFS wasn’t trying to kill LLH anymore and seemed to only want a fair rematch, he still saw him as LXY (his rival) and only ever referred to him as LLH due to agreement they had made. While LLH had already let go of the past and told him that he would not be capable of fulfilling his wish. As told countless times through the drama, showing LLH as a person trying to tell a friend you need to let this go. The drink they share in the wedding chamber is literally their first acknowledgment of a truce and being a kindred spirit. And again LLH trying to steer his new friend on a different path of forgetting to have a rematch, because he would not get one. But what can you do DFS is a stubborn kind of guy, very strong willed. It was nice how both stated the facts out loud admitting they’d never expected to be fighting on the same side let alone friends, but they are. Even if it took DFS a much longer time to admit that than LLH. More proof of their friendship is when shown through FDB pointing out that DFS gave up his dream ( which I need to rewatch and learn) to keep LLH (though again to have a rematch fair and square) alive by giving him the Stynx flower and when DFS at the end of the drama says they’ll be no one to replace LXY after he hears the letter that’s pretty much addressed to him as LLH admits to admiring DFS skills, I knew he was a big softie. I want to point out that the letter was signed LXY this and the broken sword was to tell DFS that LXY is really dead this time and he should move on from the past like he learned to do. Which brings me to my favorite bond 🥰 FDB and LLH.

FDB starts off as somewhat a spoiled kid, but kind and just. And if DFS is stubborn FDB is ten times that easily attaching himself to LLH claiming him to be his first friend which was very cute in itself, b/t their age difference. While LLH and DFS had shared experiences together, FDB actually experienced things with LLH. These two journeyed and grew together though most is on FDB end becoming more competent, a better fighter and independent. While LLH actually learned that even though you need to let go of the past to enjoy the present it doesn’t mean you have to enjoy it alone. But what I truly love about these two is the care they show for each other. I feel like in almost every episode starting after episode 4 FDB is asking if LLH is okay with those big puppy eyes (even when he was angry with LLH he still cared and when his mother talked bad about LXY he tried to get her to stop talking). LLH shows his care through protecting FDB and trying to always avoid questions that talk about the future because he doesn’t want to hurt FDB (since he knew he was dying) as DFS pointed out once. Which is another difference b/t LLH, FDB, and DSF bond; LLH ad no trouble telling DFS that he wouldn’t get his rematch whereas he was always troubled when FDB spoke of their future adventures and cases. LLH also showed his care by verbally announcing FDB as his best friend. More care is shown between the two when FDB says he realizes that LLH had been mixing truth within in his lies showing that LLH didn’t want to outright lie to FDB, but to not have him grow so attach because he knew how much pain it’ll cause in the end. In the very last 2 episodes it showed just how important FBD was to LLH. From the moment LLH bargains with the emperor to not only save FBD’s father but to even release him from the marriage so he can do what he wants. Then there’s the solo practice scene LLH does where he sees DFS and his master, you would think why doesn’t he see FDB, but then you realize he doesn’t have to envision FDB because he’s always by his side.

FDB has the strongest bond with LLH because he’s the only one who sees both sides of LLH/LXY, which LLH acknowledges when he tells FDB that if LXY knew someone understood him 10 years later he would be happy. And how even though FDB knows that LLH is LXY he still calls him LLH because he knows that is who LLH is now; just a carefree doctor who wants to fish and sunbathe. FDB is the only one who has seen LLH at his weakest and the only one who was comforting and trying to support him; telling LLH that it wasn’t his fault with SDG and that he shouldn’t carry such a weight by himself. His support goes even farther from literally carrying LLH to his master’s mountain to him accepting that LLH feels he must right the wrong SDG has caused and helping him do so. When FDB gets jealous every time LLH met an old acquaintance he was so adorable realizing there are things he doesn’t know about LLH. And the sadness you feel from him when he’s left behind by LLH every time is so sweet. Especially episode 13 where he says “Fang Duobing, Fang Duobing, are you abandoned again” abandoned seems such a strong word to use which shows just how important the issue was to FDB and how he lights back up when he sees LLH has not. No one wanted LLH to live as much as FDB, and LLH saying he was happy to have him as his disciple just made my heart melt. At first I was a little sad that LLH didn’t leave a letter for FDB, but I think that’s because he was the only one he didn’t want to say goodbye to and maybe even hoped.would possibly find him. I mean after all he left him Fox Spirt and the house, what’s not to say Fox spirit sniffs him out and finds him lol. And the letter was to just provide closure for DFS to move on, and to let the Sigu Sect and DFS know that FDB is strong and will probably surpass him someday. Plus LLH pretty much knew it was pointless to say goodbye to FDB because as I stated he is very stubborn and he wouldn’t have accepted it either way. FDB proved this by storming off the beach stating he’s going to go find LLH while everyone just stood there dumbfounded and sad, because to him LXY may be dead( due to not being able to practice martial arts) but that sarcastic lazy doctor LLH was definitely alive. Before DFS brings the flower, FDB sits with LLH chatting about the future showing that even if LLH is to die FDB plans on accompanying him to the end. FDB has so much love and respect for LLH proof in his words “I FDB accept only you as my confidant in this life” , that he’ll probably search forever for LLH until something of him was found which they happily provided in a bonus episode. And if that’s not enough proof the touching music played through their scenes is something that provides understanding of just how close they are or the words to one of the songs “Gathering and parting happens in a blinking eye, We share our affectionate words as we watch the moon, I only hope we think of each other and not owe other. ( I did think at first that this was probably for both FDB and DFS, but DFS and LLH only shared wine under the moon once, while FDB and LLH shared it a couple of times they even moon watched together and why play that music around FDB scene)

Ending: Was I sad yes, but I prepared myself for that. LLH held many things upon his shoulders and his only mission was to recover the body of his senior who pretty much was a jackass who envy LLH and turned out to just not her stupid crazed villain. Although I guess I would have gone crazy to if comparing myself to LXY/LHH, he had the looks, respect, skills, leadership, and then on top of that he was royalty man o man. Anyways LLH never once stated or made the effort that he was looking for a cure for himself, he just enjoyed the carefree life he acquired for 10years and finally came to understand what his master was trying to teach him. So since he was ready for death and let everything go so did I. I think the only thing I would have wanted to change about the ending was not him being cured, but more of LLH trying to sneakily leave FDB behind and FDB already ready to leave with him, and then add on maybe DFS not that far behind because he still wants his rematch.

I think I’ve said too much (rookie commenter here) so I’ll end it here with: Thank you Cheng Yi, Joseph Zeno, Xiao Shun Yao, and all the cast for a wonderful drama. It’ll take me awhile to move on to something else 🥲till then I’ll just rewatch it all over again. Good luck in your next drama.

Not something i enjoy

The age gap is kinda gross and weirds me out tbh . Not something that i'm interested in. Overall the show is boring and adds nothing new or interesting for the chinese drama genre . I watch most of my dramas on netflix though and they seem to have a higher budget and that might be why im just not feeling this one too . Gonna skip the rest of this one . But you should give it a go if you like young boys with much older women ! Again not something im particularly interested in and im gonna stick to the professional ones on netflix for now .

Too much repetition

On one hand, it feels like a lot of the story was skipped. The drama didn't show the process of the female lead falling for the male lead. One second she dislikes him or he's just a junior to her and next scene she's in love with him. Same with Gu Qing, the second female lead. I didn't really understand when/how she fell for him. It seems like she loved him immediately after finding out he has the bluestone. But then when she finds out it wasn't his and he wasn't the one she was looking for, she still loves only him.

On the other hand, I wish some repeated scenes would have been skipped.
Every episode something would separate the FL and ML, then they get together again, Gu Qing keeps begging ML for his love, he keeps rejecting her, Yin Feng keeps trying to kill ML, Gu Qing keeps sacrificing herself for ML, Yin Feng keeps sacrificing himself for Gu Qing, and then when the amnesia kicks in for FL, she keeps forgetting ML, falling in love with him and then forgetting him again.
It's ok if you repeat a story plot once or twice at most, but each of these mentioned happened between five and a dozen times to the point that it's ridiculous. Feels like the whole drama is just a repeat of the same scenes over and over. The whole 36 episodes could have been cut to just 12 if we remove the copy paste scenes, which become jarring and tiring.

I did like the main characters' resolves and their values and that's the only reason I'm rating this drama so high.

I didn't like some things regarding the ending.
For example the fact that ML did kill Ling and the Endless Sea Guards. Even if all the rest could be explained, this is not a forgivable act, but they seem to have forgot this as it couldn't explain his behaviour.
Also, I don't like how Xuan Zhen has to live in the shadows and protect Xi Xuan Sect from the dark side of the mountains for no reason. Not sure why he can't still meet his friends and have fun with them. It all makes no sense and it's plain stupid.

Love is as beautiful as it’s cruel.

I missed this heroine sooooo much !! I truly enjoy this actress when she’s playing roles that “fit her acting persona”. The story is DIFFERENT and let you be surprised at times. It is true that some parts are prolonged to death, but this drama is a very well hidden gem. The actors chemistry is borderline perfect, and FINALLY A PASSIONATE KISS AMONG HETEROSEXUAL, that is so well done to give you butterflies. Last kiss so well done was Hyena. The male actors are quite interesting: at the beginning they seem dull and sleepy, but the more you watch the more intriguing they are. THANKFULLY they all DO NOT LOOK LIKE stiff porcelain dolls, increasing the reality factor tenfold. If the whole world was made of perfectly good looking people, how boring would that be ???? Im a believer of TALENT, above beauty. Wayyyyy above. So, if you can manage reality, you can definitely enjoy this show. The script is confusing.

Nothing Burger!

Well I am surprising myself with this assessment. I was sincerely looking forward to this drama. Let us be honest, we have not had many great k-dramas in the past year or so. This seemed to have a great lineup and fairly upscale production. I was not anticipating a masterpiece, but a fun, light hearted romantic comedy.
But in reality the show turned out to be a whole lotta nothing burger. The set looked great, the visuals were great...but the magic was missing. I was hoping this to change as the story progressed...but the pace of the story remained the same. I finished watching the show purely out of loyalty to some of my favorite cast members, but they deserved better.

Bad start but get's better

Sometimes you will see a cover and instantly know that this is just not for you.... but then you may look a bit closer and find out that Greg Hsu is the star and all of a sudden you just have to watch it for that smile.... But deep down inside you know that Greg is probably the only thing this movie has to offer.

And well it started off just like it´s cover suggested, annoyingly bad silly humour... Greg Hsu as a homophobic over the top jerk (with muscles) slightly painful to watch second hand embarrassment making me rethink my choice to watch it, but since Greg Hsu is the star and they trowed in a bunch of open minded granny's I stuck to it and it actually got better. Showing me yet again the Greg is a versatile actor (having like 10 personalities in this) and more then just a pretty face. The other male lead did a really good job too. Some twists where more predictable than others, actually most of them where predictable. the character development was however lovely and I think I may almost have shed a tear.

So I am not going to say this is great, but if you are a Fan of Greg Hsu or ghosts, this is not a bad place to watch them just don´t judge the movie by its cover or first 30 minutes or so. It does indeed get better. But honestly it is probably worth a 6,5 or a 7 but the cast and moments of brilliance (few as they are), as well as the presence of a cute dog truly adds a whole lot of stars.

3 Amigos in Moving Lotus Tower Solve Mysteries & Bring Justice to Jianghu

10 years can change a person completely or it can keep someone exactly the same. This series was very well written and I'm very glad to have watched it. So much so, that it's hard to move on from honestly. I don't follow any of the actors from this one though I have previously seen both Joseph and XSY in other series, first time watching Cheng Yi. This show came very close to getting a perfect score if it wasn't for a few things that I couldn't get over. Overall, the 3 Amigos in the moving lotus tower that solve mysteries and bring justice to Jianghu were impossible to resist.

Pros: The storyline and you're always wondering whodunnit. Favorite characters were the 3 amigos (with FDB only once he grew up and matured). When the three of them were together especially during DFS's memory loss, had to be the best both because of the comedy and their interactions; who could forget the constant calls for "Ah Fei".

Let's talk about how the plot went from LLH trying to find his senior's body as it was his only reason for living to finding out that said senior was still alive and the biggest antagonist of them all with only the Saintess as number two. The heartbreak LLH faced each time something new about the past came out and how as LXY he had missed understanding the fundamentals as he was still very young. The agony of suffering from the Bicha poison each time he over used his inner power. For 10 years he used it very little and therefore was able to control it but in that last year when finally on the path to the truth, brought him agonizing pain. Cheng Yi did a fantastic job as both the suffering man and one that could lie through his teeth with a straight face that had the audience laughing and shaking their heads each time dumbass young FDB would fall for it; while DFS would just walk away basically saying "you're full of shit." He was whip smart and often steps ahead of everyone, being able to tell who the murderer of a particular case was as they got closer to the real truths as each case was tied with the next one. He was able to unveil that the supposed spy amongst the Segu sect, really was working behind enemy lines for over 10 years. He made peace with his impending demise and wanted everyone around him to do the same.

DFS was a great morally gray character; because of his upbringing his first instinct was to kill but overall he ran by the Jianghu code of ethics. He didn't kill women except Saintess at the end but she deserved it. He wanted to fight LXY fair and square but neither got that 10 years ago because of all the people pulling the strings behind the scenes. When he had that Rama Vessel thing, first thing he did was cure himself of mind control, then return to Di fortress, destroy his childhood captor/Shifu and free the current kids under that freak's control.

FDB lands both in the pros and cons for me. I like the older him way better. Because of his caring nature towards LLH and his ability to be the detective everyone wanted to see and being able to explain things and speak like an adult and the funny relationship with Ah Fei. The older FDB was a much better version that Joseph did well. No matter what, he was the one that always had LLH's back and he was a very quick study of anything martial arts or technique related; dude was like a sponge.

The two antagonists or Saintess and SGD were very ruthless and both of everything they did was exactly what you wanted to see in antagonists up until the end and that will be explained below. Still, SGD had to be more ruthless as he killed a child 10 years before just to get his hands on some armor.

Most of the support especially the MVP of the show or Foxy Spirit, LLH's dog were for the most part well placed and really did a good job for as long as they needed to be there. The Sigu sect was a bit behind mentally on a lot of things and it was full of spies; it's like it got stuck 10 years ago and never went anywhere. If I had to choose the next sect leader, it would definitely be Shi Shu as she was always on top of things and didn't jump to conclusions like everyone else.

The martial arts scenes were top notch. Starting from the first episode, onwards, whether actual battles or just LLH dancing with his sword to express whatever emotions he was feeling were very well choreographed and done. You could tell each actor put his everything into it. When martial arts scenes were very well executed, it just elevated a wuxia for me. I'm also very glad they sidestepped romance in this one; there were undertones and we all braced for them but thankfully in every case it was quickly let go of. These types of dramas just don't need that in the slightest.

I like the open ending but wish the extra part one was actually added to 40 as it would have made a lot more sense because otherwise the ending of actual 40 seemed rushed and incomplete. But it's a lot better than them all finding him dead on a road somewhere or floating in a river. OSTs, costumes, sets, CGI were all on point.

Cons: Not very many of these but I'd have to say FDB got on my ever loving nerves in the beginning and it took quite a while before he grew up. Acting like a brat and throwing adult sized tantrums at LLH and in general actually made me happy when LLH just left him at the side of the road multiple times. He was insufferable. I really wished they matured him a lot faster.

Also many of the Segu sect members basically had no voices they just stood there like statues to make up space and said maybe 5 lines the entire time. The character of Zijin and his jealousy was so extra and unnecessary; he didn't understand anything even until the end. Every time he opened his mouth, you just rolled your eyes and prayed he'd get off screen faster. Ah Mian--while I understand her necessity as LXY's old flame and all that and her taking charge of the sect towards the end away from the jealous and unnecessary Zijin--why was she always in tears? She reminded me of the cartoon character Droopy as her eyes were always swollen, red, and teary even when she was fighting at the end. The fact that none of them could tell that LLH was LXY though they knew him best even with half a mask or no mask was laughable. His face hadn't changed, just his hairstyle and clothing. Same went for DFS, his own people couldn't tell it was him with half a mask? Really unbelievable. Plus knowing how deadly LXY's poison was, they believed him when he said he could cure it? Like how? Those were the first plot holes I noticed.

The other plot hole was during that last showdown, where did LXY and SGD's Master's wife come from? If she knew the secret of LXY's origins this entire time, why not tell him? How did she know where to find them? And it had to happen when both sides were stumped. It was way too obvious and put a bit of a damper in a great momentum building episode. Now though I liked both SGD and Saintess as the main antagonists; their ruthlessness took a plummet when they both started to get overly delusional towards the end and let out that nails on chalkboard Halloween store witch prop cackle. It absolutely ruins every antagonist it touches; laughing evilly doesn't have to sound like that. Both did it numerous times and that's another reason this drama just couldn't have that perfect score.

Would I recommend it? I absolutely would. I'm notoriously picky with dramas, so what I view as cons, may be nonsensical for others. The show itself is really great and I enjoyed it very much. I think if you like wuxia and mysteries, this is the drama for you.

Zhang Wan Yi as Chang Xuan is superb

This drama has an unusual romantic plot among all C-costume dramas I have watched.

The story is about Chang Xuan and his journey to find and protect the only love of his life, his cousin sister, Xiao Yao. A promise he made to his paternal aunt, Xiao Yao's mother, before she went to war to fight against Qi Yo/ Chi Chen, Xiao Yao's biological father.

In order to meet his objective, he must win the throne from his ailing paternal grandfather, King of Xiyan.

Chang Xuan's journey to the throne isn't smooth: he has to plot, manipulate, strategise, compromise and sacrifice his own happiness for his only objective ie. Xiao Yao must be protected at all cost. However, he is also faced with romantic competitions from other males for Xiao Yao's hand of marriage such as Tushan Jing, Chi Sui Feng Long and Fang Feng Bei.

Will he succeed in protecting Xiao Yao and be with her and love her forever like they promised to each other when they were little? Viewers are to watch and find it out themselves before reading the novel.

Zhang Wan Yi's portrayal as Chang Xuan is flawlessly effortless. When he yearns for Xiao Yao, his audience feel the same emotion and weep for him. He dominates the stage with his acting when he is present in the room. A talented actor.

I've seen another drama, The Bond (2021) with him as one of the leads. Although his screen times are shorter compared to other leads, his are still the best.

i LOVE it so far

i watch bl and kdramas very often so i have some standards but i love this so far. i love office/school based romance so this is perfect. i can’t remember the last time i felt butterflies like i did with this show. the flirting seems so natural. also it’s not uncomfortable like a lot of shows, e.g. when the other person is pushing away or is obviously not comfortable. i can’t wait for the new episodes to come out. the only reason i didn’t put 10 for everything is because only a few episodes are out and i hope it’ll get even better! the cast are also gorgeous 😭

Awesome

I have watched ep 1-4 so far and really hope for more! The acting was great, the special effects on top, the plot thrilling.
The only thing I have to criticise is that I felt the plot rush in some situations. I would have liked it if some scenes had been expanded a bit, to make the storyline more understandable and give the viewer more chances to relate with the different characters and their relation to one another. I know it was supposed to create suspense and mystery, but some aspects had not been covered and left the viewer with open questions. I really hope there will be more.
