This is basically the cdrama version diluted with a lot of drama cliches.
Some top upvoted reviews are claiming that this is based on the novel not the Chinese drama, but as someone who has actually read the novel I can tell you that is false. This is 100% based on the cdrama, but sadly the new writer diluted the plot with a great many cliches & highlighted the competing love interests a lot, like gosh it's horseflies everywhere. Basically the original drama often sidestepping cliches is its strongest point, here other than the livelier characters & overall more emotional presentation everything else is worse.Worse not really meaning bad though, it has just fallen down to mediocrity, but compared to the typical lakorn it's still great.
--
To talk about the novel a bit, there the 2 main characters have very significantly different personalities, as opposed them being fairly close to the cdrama characters in the Thai show.. Yes the second ML is a hint closer to the novel here than in the cdrama, but it's a very small difference, he is still far worse there as far as I can recall.

How can this be the last episode?
Everything went smoothly story wise until the last episode . What the hell was that??? Never before an Asian drama left me with more questions than answers. If you are going to make a second season just tell us don’t leave us hanging on every aspect of the story. The protagonists did amazing job with their acting and the chemistry between them was undeniable. It would be good if you closed the arc of them and the side pair as well as the police murder or even his sister and brother in law side story. What happened with them????Was this review helpful to you?

Honestly I don't get the male lead, his expression was just too child like , no composure nothing like an heir Also I don't get it why would he be penniless just cause he got kicked out when he's been working for years
So penniless he couldn't afford a hotel room even clothes, it's not realistic
Story was pretty average but deliver it was just way too below average

Amazing story, great cast, beautiful to this eyes… the best show I’ve seen in a long time
Veil of Shadows is the best thing I’ve watched in god knows how many years. I think I was born to love everything this director does, cause the last time I felt close to what I’m feeling right now was with Fangs of Fortune and I was also mesmerized when I watched The Yin Yang Masters. But Veil of Shadows is even better, I really have no words to describe. It’s a great story and I absolutely love the cast. Honestly, I don't know how I will move on from this show, I feel really attached to all the characters, specially Ji Ling and Wuyi.I like all the details about it, the costumes, the scenarios, the fighting scenes. Everything is so beautiful! The two female leads were so cool and strong and I love how beautiful was they’re relationship. The romances were also very well constructed, cause in the beginning, I didn’t really feel real chemistry between any couple, but I saw the chemistry being constructed step by step and by the middle I was completely obsessed with both couples.
Also I’d like to say how great is Tian Jiarui acting. He portrayed a million characters in this and they were all so well made. I love how Ji Ling wasn’t the dragon, he wasn’t strong and wasn’t the chosen one, he was just a little fox who carried the world on his shoulders. It’s so sad that he and Wuyi couldn’t be together in that lifetime, but I’m happy they found each other in another life. I think this is happiest end this director can give us.
I haven’t been writing reviews in a while, but I really felt that I had to say how much I loved this (and I’m already watching again). I don’t think is only the best show of the year, it’s the best that I’ve seen in a really long time.

Too long look into the lens of the past
this drama has its good points if you can see beyond the fashions and expressions of 40 years ago but while for koreans probably it is nostalgic、 for non koreans it is maybe just dated。for me it went on too long and became difficult to finish。
frankly Shi Won's character was so awful and embarrassing it became tough to watch closely followed by her father Seong Dong [at least they got the genetic relation right]。 she's the type you want to arrange the divorce papers before the marriage、 as for the marriage how could it survive the permanent war zone and the child would need child rescue service。Yun Je should have grabbed Jun Hee while he had the chance (!)
I like korean humor but not when it degenerates just into constant shouting and name calling and the level of flatulence。it is too easy to stereotype koreans as all extrovert loud and jokey in a rough way but with hearts of gold but this is no doubt a function of the soap drama genre which is really what this one evolved into。
flashback has its place in drama and I understand here it was part of putting lives in context looking back but、 when it becomes so repeated and intrusive it breaks the dramatic continuity in a big way and just causes confusion〜
not one for re-watch though with some interest。 it was good they ventured a LGBT mini sub plot but the way it was treated was very dated。

Lets pretend I didn't see that ending
The series is perfect until about halfway through the last episode. What did they do with that ending, for God's sake?! It had everything to be perfect and they simply said: "no, let's take a shit and sit on it."The police officers are all worse than each other. If you put them all together, you won't find a single one with good character; some of the "criminals" are more honest than them.

Killer App
I watched If Wishes Could Kill and honestly it’s really interesting but kinda dark. The idea is super cool—like people getting their wishes but with bad consequences—and it keeps you thinking “is this even worth it?” The story pulls you in quickly and some moments are actually intense. The characters aren’t perfect at all, which makes it more realistic, but also a bit frustrating sometimes. I liked how it shows that getting what you want isn’t always a good thing. It’s not a super light or fun drama, it’s more the type that makes you think.
Overall, I’d say it’s worth watching if you like darker, suspenseful stories 👍

Ended in a cliffhanger...
The elefant in the room with this series is the lip-syncing of the whole audio. For me it always felt out of place. They could not transfer all the emotions of a scene in a believable manner. Unexpectable the kissing was not good either. The finale was a bit of a bummer. We get a cliffhanger for a 2nd season and I always hate it, when they do that. Chances are good with all the support this series gained it will happen. But to wait for a year for the continuation of this story suxx.
Besides the couples and the girl, I also think the acting was lacking. They choose to implement silly moments in such a dark story and I'm not a fan of it. Production quality was top notch, besides the lip-syncing.
We get a story between a "soft" gangster boss and a "innocent" student who is the pride not only of his family but of the whole neighbourhood. It's quite clear from the beginning that the student is drawn to the gangster and it's typical BL cliché that the gangster boss has to struggle to accept his own feelings. So nothing new there and nothing which does justify all the hype about this series..
Overall it was good entertainment but for me it was not stellar. And to have to wait for another year for the conclusion (or again 9 episodes with a cliffhanger) pisses me off.

Top Tier BL 2026
I just want to tell that this is definitely peak BL. It's all things in here so amazing, the Chemistry, the plot, the feeling, the atmosphere, everything in this series i can really feel it. Like the fee is all over the place, even the small things is becoming sooo powerful. I don't give a funch people saying is but this is Goddess peak BL and i love every second of it, definitely worth it waiting 1 episode per week bc i'm never ever disappointed even if it's just 1 second.. I mean i can't get enough ... Wish wish wish this series have season 2 .....Was this review helpful to you?
An Exciting Watch
this show is the definition of a show that is 100% exhilarating while you’re watching it, but the second it ends, you start realizing not much makes sense.it’s not exactly scary (i’m usually terrified of anything horror, but this didn't scare me.. at all), but it keeps you on your toes. the pacing is fast, they use blood in every scene, its a lil exhausting but also exciting. the acting was also really great for a cast of mostly fresh faces. i especially loved the main couple and really wish we got more scenes of them just being together.
but here is where it falls apart: kwon siwon. i have zero sympathy for her. hyeryoung was literally the only person who cared about her and was trying to protect her with that talisman, and how does siwon repay her? by outing her crush and letting her get physically assaulted in front of the whole class.
the whole curse continuation felt so petty and illogical. siwon dying and wishing for the cycle to continue just to make hyeryoung "pay" is the definition of being a hater. i dont understand her intentions behind torturing everyone who uses the app. there was no depth to it just spite against the only person who was actually kind to her. i really wanted some kind of justice for hyeryoung in the finale but alas.
anddd the most annoying thing — the season 2 bait. i am so tired of shows leaving things open just in case they get a season 2. not every show needs a sequel. why can't we just get a closed, satisfying ending? leaving nari’s phone like that and not solving haetsol's issue of not being able to leave her house just felt lazy. it leaves so many unanswered questions that could’ve been fixed with like... 20 more mins of writing.
its a solid 8/10 for the adrenaline but 6.5 plotwise

Ah! Logic left the wish App
My gosh, where do I even begin the first episodes got me hooked and then I wanted to know the story behind the original two friends and what led to this but the. In a nutshell it’s all because a girl was ashamed of her shaman mother and then . I’m not even sure if I even got the reason right…The timelines I was so confused with the timelines 2005 or they meant 2025??? In 2005 they had touch screen phones? 2008 instagram and all that or maybe the translation was just wrong ???
The story was all over the place why did the shaman daughter keep haunting people ? Was she just rotten to the core?
Main leads!!! Se Ah kept pissing me off told not to look back looks, told not to open the door opens… she’s known her lady friend NA ri is not okay tries to act like the hero and all this incidents are so detrimental that it leads to people actually really getting hurt but anyway without all these the plot would have ended on the 5th episode. But there are so many mini series that are 4 episodes so that’s still no excuse, it’s the year 2026 and we still have such brain rot ?
Nari storyline still didn’t make sense to me one of the wth is her problem her purpose like she didn’t have depth really… I actually loved the shamans in the show not many screen time but they really did awesome in their roles
Well after the first wishes were made it’s like that storyline was thrown out and if it was how the whole story was woven was just … so many plot holes.
The good thing is they are young actors known for mostly supporting roles apart from NA RI she’s had a main role before … they did well solid acting from them ..
the moral story of how human beings take different routes based on their circumstances and emotions . How being led with emotions from a dark place can not only affect you but people around you was well done .
Well first time I didn’t hear nice OSTs or maybe they were not memorable but most horrors don’t have but all in all it wasn’t the best of Korean horror I’ve seen but ….

It lacked depth
The story was ok, but there was a lot things missing about it, most of all in the last episode.Biting sound at the end of ep. 1 was done so bad!
I don't get what it is with Lee Sang Min but i kind of have a hate/love feeling about him. He has drama's where his acting is good like in Why R U, but most drama's he doesn't do so well. And his kissing is really bad!
The other main did a good job.
It's worth the watch, but don't expect too much of it.

I have nothing to say about this show, it's good. Nothing went really wrong, but nothing special either. It's just like any other law shows, but this time with ghost clients. They didn't focus on the courtroom though. Instead they had a lot of personal plots. Several cases were interesting, and the mixtures with comedy were nice. The final episode served really great. The cast is great. Several clients were really oustanding, such as Oh Ye Ju and Hwang Boreumbyeol. Yoo Yeon Seok and Esom also did excellently, although I couldn't see a romantic chemistry between them. Unfortunately as the story were progressing, the cases became less and less interesting. The third case, Jeon Sang Ho case, was very weird. They said there wasn't any sign of forced entry, so how the murderer managed to hide in the bathroom? And why bathroom?? Did he manage to have the victim's bathing schedule?? Si Ho case seemed like ended prematurely. Also I Rang seemed lost his senses while taking his father's case. He was a very logical person earlier, but he became too emotional in this case. There wasn't any closure for Yang Do Gyeong after knowing all the truth about his father.
It's recommended as another law show to watch!

Explosive Chemistry and Unbearable Tension
If you’re looking for a BL that keeps you on the edge of your seat (and reaching for a fan), My Stubborn is a must-watch. After finishing it, it’s clear to me that this series sticks with you, not just for the plot, but for the sheer power of its leads.🔥 The Highlight: SornJun and Next-Level Chemistry
Sorn and Jun have climbed straight into my top favorite BL couples. What Boat and Oat delivered on screen was, quite simply, masterful. Their dynamic is the perfect textbook example of how to build sexual tension:
The Denial: That constant push-and-pull where both seem to resist the inevitable.
The Tension: Massive! You could feel it in every look and every silence.
The +18 Scenes: They didn't hold back here. The intimate scenes are among the most mature and passionate I’ve seen, featuring an explosive chemistry that definitely earns its age rating. 🫣🥵
I loved the contrast between their personalities. On one hand, we have Sorn’s possessive side, which adds that layer of intensity we all crave, and on the other, Jun’s mischievous side, which balances things out with his spark.
True, some critics might point out "toxic" nuances in their relationship, but honestly, I’m choosing to focus on the good parts. Fiction is meant for enjoying these intense passions that make your heart race.
It wasn't all perfect; if I missed anything, it was a deeper dive into the past. I was left wanting to know more about the backstory between Sorn, Tai, Champ, Win, and Jun. Understanding the origin of that friendship would have added an extra layer of depth to the plot.
As for the supporting cast, there were some characters who didn't contribute much to the main story, but it’s easy to overlook because they were all very sweet and helped build the show’s atmosphere.
Final Verdict:
My Stubborn is an intense experience. Despite the small gaps in the script regarding the friend´s pasts, the weight of the main couple is more than enough to carry the entire series.
Would I rewatch it? Absolutely. It’s one of those dramas that you enjoy just as much (or even more) the second time around. If you want real chemistry and scenes that leave you breathless, this is your show.
