Unexpected

This series left mixed feelings: on the one hand some of the standard kdrama stuff is continuously present, yet
most of the story does not follow the expectd paths; this makes it interesting, because it is fully unexpected.
On the other hand, the story does not go very far, in none if its aspects.

The actors were very well chosen and all of them did a marvelous job!
Personally I appreciate that no teeny looking actors were chosen, maturity was an important factor.

Consequently I have mixed feelings to recommend it too: there are better, there are much worse.

This is AMAZING!!

I literally only just finished Season 2 a few days ago. I have not been able to stop thinking about it, the backstories, the songs, the plot, the acting, the cast?? ABSOLUTE CINEMA. I would totally recommend!! I seriously don't have a single complaint about this show. The deepens of it, the bittersweet ending, it was just overall amazing. If I said I didn't cry once I finished it I would be lying. That's just how amazing it was! Might rewatch Residen Playbook because of this. (I watched Resident Playbook before Hospital Playlist, bad decision I know.)

An okay drama ....

so the first two episodes didn't encourage me to keep going yet I have finished it somehow .
before starting this , the plot summary suggested that it was going to be a rom com with some depth to it yet after watching it ended up superficial and rushed for me .

the first thing that didn't work for me was the love triangle , it came out of no where and ended up adding nothing why was it there in the first place " maybe to fill some episodes ?!!".
min uk and min ran may ended have something in the end " they started dating i guess" but of course they also didn't focus on this they just hinted .

we never got to see a proper healing process for du jun or hui won , it just like in the end he was able finally hold her hand and his trauma was healed , of course he visited his brother's grave and his sister in law apologize and told him she forgave him yet it was rushed and as for hui won she gust forgave her mother after all she has done , like she forgot all of that easily .

of course this had a lot of cute scenes that made FL see that ML cared about her and made her want to have a family yet this also had all cliche scenes of a rom com .

for me this was an okay drama , if you want something light and funny give it a go .

How a rumor can destroy someone's life.

Be aware that I have only watched the part called "The Rumor"
Donghae's performance was utterly captivating and nothing short of flawless. I found myself completely mesmerised by his character; his portrayal was extremely compelling but also brilliantly showed on screen, the way that he gets more and more obsessed with the rumour is just wow. Every nuance of his performance drew me in, making it an unforgettable experience, the plot and the suspense build up and music is placed in really well too No complaints what so ever it was great. I find myself oddly relieved that this wild roller coaster of emotions lasted only 30 minutes. The way it concluded at that moment leaves me with a mix of exhilaration and apprehension. The aftermath is bound to be a storm of chaos in its own right, and now, I’m left without any means to witness it unfold. Oh boy, that experience was truly intense! And am I Glad I watched it and finished it it was really a wild wild ride.

Robin Hood Robbing Hearts

To My Beloved Thief is set during the dark days of the Joseon era. The kingdom was ruled by a tyranny whose greed knew no bounds as it caused oppression of the weak resulting in hunger and injustice. He looked the other way as his ministers filled their granaries robbing the weak in plain sight. Amidst all this madness however, arose a Robin hood by the name Gildong whom the weak praised but the rich condemned. The twist is that our Robin Hood is a she. A low-born female physician named Hong Eunjo.

Grand Prince Dowol and Eunjo are the central focus here, with their lives being intertwined through an unexpected switch in bodies. While switching bodies can come off as overdone, here it serves as more than a plot point. I loved how it puts the characters in the other's shoes, forcing the prince to understand what it is like to live as a commoner, and Eunjo to understand what it's like to be trapped in a royal court where political dangers are ever so suffocating. This switch truly brings "walking in someone else's shoes" phrase to life here, and I appreciated how it is through this very experience the prince finally understands why the woman he loves became Gildong.

Unlike most fluffy romances, this is a romance between two people who have a lot that separates them, right down to their backgrounds. A romance where politics and social standing make a normal love story impossible. One where class, danger, and saving their country takes precedence above anything else. Their love never gets in the way of the greater crisis; instead, it strengthens the will they have to fight and overcome it.

This drama boasts excellent acting from its leads. One such example is the fiery nature of Hong Eunjo, played by Nam Jihyun. Also worth mentioning is Moon Sangmin for his role as Grand Prince Dowol; someone who has the grace and power of a prince but also enough kindness to complement her character nicely. And, while I'm at it, another commendable performance is that of Hong Min Ki as Im Jaeyi; whose cold yet warm personality was both frustrating and brilliant.

While the core plot may be somewhat cliché, its twist and turns kept it fresh and interesting. One particular thing I adored about this drama was how the second female lead, Hae Rim was well-written. She was a sweet woman who truly cares about the people; who doesn't get jealous over unrequited love and accepted her defeat in a gracefully dignified way. Better yet, the two female leads are friends and avoid the typical rivalry, with each girl offering support and strength to one another, which felt very appropriate for their respective worlds.

However, not everything was so brilliant; some parts of the plot did seem rather convenient. Im Sahyeong escaping, for example, didn't feel right considering everything he had done; a criminal being left at liberty without being guarded felt like a cheap ploy to push the plot forward. Another cliché was applied in the tense scene where the villains took an eternity to breakdown the door just so that the couple could express their undying love toward each other before they could attack them smh; one surely has to switch off their brain to stomach such scenes lol. In any case, in the grand scheme of things, those rare moments of foolishness were just a drop in the bucket.

The cinematography was okay however, there were scenes that stood out to me; like when the leads accidentally kissed under the blossoming trees and the moment the courtesans successfully escaped from the palace and tossed off their robes into air...how liberating that was.

Finally, this particular drama is like a romance novel which happens to feature politics within its story lines. It is based on empathy and unity of purposes; a love that is built through shared objectives rather than through romancing. If you seek a drama that features interesting characters, background knowledge, slow burn love, and political elements, then this may be the one to pick.

Magic of Onion Soup

Very funny. Loving a certain dish is nice, but that can never be true love, because if we love something that only serves us, that love is selfish. The main character here loves his onion soup a little too much, but the director used that premise in a smart way to lead us further and make us think about the dishes we like and the relationships we develop around them.

The actors were great. The female lead was cute and had a special kind of aura, but the male lead was the highlight. Of course, he is one of the Korean veterans, so there is no doubt about his acting skills. His attitude was so funny to watch, and in a strange way, I could relate to both of the main characters. I really enjoyed every second of this first episode from the *Love Track* series, which continues the legacy of the Drama Special format of one-episode short stories. I am looking forward to the other episodes.

I bet that after watching this short movie/series, you will want to try onion soup yourself.

I won't get too much into details of the story as there are many really good reviews for this, however, I do want to add a piece of my thoughts. I really appreciated how they played with the backgrounds, the music and overall the setting for the story. I think the fact that they could make the viewer feel uncomfortable for example with the family house or the places where she meets with her fiancee in contrast of the settings where she is meeting with Taiga, I think they managed to convey very well how Manami is supposed to be feeling. An absolute masterpiece.

Must Watch if you like strong leads with a very nice romance

Wonderland of Love is a refreshing historical romance that gets almost everything right. The highlight is definitely the chemistry between **Xu Kai** and **Jing Tian** — their relationship feels natural, warm, and genuinely believable.

Xu Kai is especially charming, bringing both playfulness and emotional depth to his role. The romance flows smoothly, which makes it easy to stay invested.

Overall: A good, engaging drama with strong leads and heartfelt romance.

Just bear with the editing coz the drama is really good

Before anything else...what in the world is that editing??? I mean it so bad that even a layman could pinpoint it out, yet the makers gave it a green flag. Seriously, this drama's worse thing is its editing, nothing else. It is so good that even after all that you will binge watch all the episodes.
First of all the actors are just gorgeous and it wouldn't have worked if the acting wasn't up to the mark. Every character has a story to tell and sometimes it feels like I am watching a sequel to another drama. If it wasn't for bad editing all the moments would have really great impact especially in scenes where they talked about earlier generation. But look at the beauty of it that even after all the editing mayhem it still conveyed the emotions. The main characters are perfect for the cast they visually look good and have great chemistry. I did find FL little bit on the weaker side in acting but her character is really well written at least for now her acting doesn't bother me much. Plot is full of suspense and witty dialogues and you wouldn't want to miss the smart leads which is rarely bestowed to cdrama viewers. You will keep on guessing who is villain who is not. So in keeping suspense the show is doing great and I am loving the storyline so far. Cinematography and action scenes are really well done and the music is really very beautiful. All I can say is- just give it a try it has a promising premise and good actors plus in later episodes their chemistry is sizzling. Though the actors are quite young so don't expect too much romance from it. It is more about Generational struggles in jinaghu than just the romance.
(Am I the only one who thinks they have gone overboard with their makeup? They all look a little plastered.)
I would suggest to watch this show when you are in drama slump, only then you could have to patience to bear with certain elements of the drama. Though I highly recommend the novel.
PS: Can't believe it was written by the same author who wrote Love Like the Galaxy and The Story of Minglan, I mean these are one of my favourite dramas of all time, now I can definitely see similarities in the writing style. This really had so much potential but the execution couldn't do justice to the story.

A devastatingly beautiful drama.

I can always tell when the people who took part in making a drama love their craft and gave their all into creating it.

This drama is like that.

From the directing, production choices, music, editing, acting it was so apparent to me that this drama was made with care. This type of serious care will only result into a beautiful lasting piece of work.

Also this is my first Zhou Yiran show. I had heard of him and I had seen bits and pieces from "when I fly to you" but I didn't have a specific negative or positive opinion about his acting. Maybe I wasn't expecting much based on some things I had read from c-drama fans on twitter.

Let me say this after watching him here:
I actually think he is one of the very few promising young actors in c-ent and I'm confused as to why some people have said negative things about him. His expressions were on point, his dive into the role complete and his vocal projection great. I will not even begin to say what a tough critic I can be when it comes to acting which is why I don't like most of the current c-ent's traffic stars performances...

I think this guy has a bright future though. I'll see how he is on another projects too of course, but being able to execute this kind of role so well...I applaud him! Most of the under 32yo big c-actors wouldn't be able to do it in my opinion.

As for Yinglu I already knew she can act bc I've seen some of her other dramas. She nailed this difficult role as well. Tbh I loved the entire cast and the two other leading actors had amazing chemistry too.

Overall, this is the type of show that is my thing. Made with care and precision, an ode to the art of film-making.

Mutual Crush (2025) is a really nice romance miniseries with Du Ya Fei (as Pei Si Yu) and Wu Jia Lu (as Song Qing Jia) in the leading couple’s role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple had a heartwarming, fun, and fiery sensual chemistry. The overall tone of the plot was heartwarming even when the male lead had such a miserable upbringing since he was smart, fun, protective, passionate, and lovely to be partnered with the intelligent, gentle, loving, nurturing, equally strong and protective female lead. This couple had years of restrained affection for each other that, once it became clear how each one felt, it led to a beautiful, steadfast, and intense flow of emotions.

Disappointed by potential

I went into Shine expecting to root for Mile and Apo’s epic romance. Instead, I walked away mostly disappointed and that disappointment had far more to do with the writing and character choices than the acting.

The performances were brilliant and poignant. In fact, the acting was so convincing that instead of feeling heartbroken during their emotional moments, I felt vindicated in my frustrations with the characters. That alone proves how well the actors embodied their roles.

Trin & Thanwa – Wasted Yin and Yang Potential
Trin and Thanwa had all the ingredients for a compelling opposites-attract dynamic. On paper, they should have complemented each other and helped each other grow into better versions of themselves.

But neither of them felt like their best selves together.

Most of Thanwa’s limited screen time revolved around commitment issues or self-destructive coping through drugs and alcohol. More importantly, he felt disconnected from the show’s core political theme. Thanwa hardly cared about the politics that drove the story forward. If you removed him from the narrative, the main thematic arc would barely change and that’s a major structural flaw.

Instead of feeling like two halves of a greater whole, they felt mismatched at their core.

Victor – A Character Done Dirty
Victor genuinely caught my attention. His crush on Trin was adorable at first, and as the story progressed, I couldn’t help but feel he was more aligned with Trin in terms of personality, goals, and worldview.

His death made narrative sense. It was emotional, and the buildup worked. I was really teary when he died.

But what I cannot forgive is how the show handled the aftermath.

Revealing at the last minute that Victor made Thanwa promise to keep Trin out of politics felt like a cheap attempt to absolve Thanwa of responsibility. It reduced Victor’s death to a narrative device — a stepping stone to reunite Trin and Thanwa.

Why did his death erase his agency and humanity? Even if he chose to attend the protest, he did not choose to die. That distinction matters.

Dhevi – The Most Disappointing Arc
The biggest disappointment, however, was Dhevi.

She began as a quiet but powerful woman trapped in a loveless marriage with Krailert. I was rooting for her. I wanted her to reclaim her agency, pursue Veera if she truly wanted to, and walk away from a marriage that suffocated her.

Instead, the show turned her into a villain.

Krailert and Naran’s doomed romance made thematic sense to me- they were on opposite political sides. I expected tragedy rooted in ideology or timing. What I did not expect was Dhevi being villainized and being reduced to someone who traps her husband with a pregnancy.

It felt like character assassination. One of the few strong female characters was sacrificed for shock value or “realism,” and that choice immediately soured the show for me.

Final Thoughts
Maybe my disappointment comes from seeing the potential so clearly. I loved the chemistry between Naran and Krailert. I even found myself more invested in Trin and Victor than in the intended main couple.

That’s what makes it frustrating.

These are just my personal takes. Others did find meaning and beauty in the story and I genuinely do encourage people to form their own opinions. I simply couldn’t ignore the gap between what the show promised and what it ultimately delivered.

My heart is full

I can't even describe into words how this series made my heart feel. It was funny, serious, silly, and heartfelt romantic all at the same time.

At first, I didn't know if I would like it because it seemed so cheesy. But about the midpoint I fell in love and couldnt stop watching. By the end of it, it is one of my top rated most beloved series now.

Qual o sentido desse show??

We Survived the Pain… But Did We Get the Ending We Deserved?

I liked the story, but it didn’t quite surpass the previous xianxias I’ve watched. I tend to have high expectations when it comes to this genre, especially with all the emotional depth and world-building that usually come with it.

That said, I still stayed until the end because the story gradually became more interesting. It was such a long journey filled with heartbreak and sadness. Watching two people who clearly love each other go through so much pain was honestly exhausting. I understand that it’s all part of the plot and the genre’s usual fate-driven conflicts, but I really wish they had given us more in the ending.

After everything they went through, we deserved to see more of what happened next. A fuller, more satisfying conclusion would have made the emotional suffering feel more worth it. That’s the only thing I truly wanted more of.

Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it. And if I’m being honest, if not for Arthur Chen, I probably wouldn’t have been able to finish the drama.
