Could be better

The drama had great potential to turn into something amazing, especially since it's set in an era that many people love watching stories about, with so much room for creative ideas. However, the director and screenwriter ruined the concept with overly dramatic, Bollywood-style exaggeration—where one bullet kills, another does nothing, and a single hero takes down a hundred men.

"Is there anyone from the cast who didn't die besides Ren Susu?! The writer desperately needs therapy, they're in a really bad place. What a total waste of time watching this drama—the amount of gloominess reached an absurd level. The lead characters got exhausted from constantly visiting graves, every two minutes someone else dies. I honestly don't mind if one of the main leads dies as long as it's written well and serves the plot, but EVERYONE died?! Not a single couple made it to the end, it's way too much. Literally no one got to live a normal life, IT'S SO OVER THE TOP!"

The casting for the female lead was terrible—a complete wooden actress with zero acting skills. The male lead was literally carrying the whole show on his back. The female lead was written as an incredibly selfish character in a toxic relationship, constantly dragging him down, using him, and leaving him in pain every single time. At times, I found myself getting frustrated with the male lead—wondering why he was so in love with someone who clearly used him, and why he chose to believe her lies just to feel a fleeting moment of comfort, fully aware that she was lying. But later on, I truly understood his character: having grown up without affection, love, or protection as a child, she gave him a few months of love, only to drain that love from him over years of torment. Also he is the one he got the worst ending.

Watching this series was an absolute a waste of time.

Overdo of overdo

People who watched it, keep saying, keep watching don’t drop it, by this episode you will start getting hooked. I think if a drama doesn’t get your attention in the first half hour, don’t bother with it. You will only keep getting distracted and not paying attention to the story unfolding before you.
I found the whole relentless beating of one man’s psyche was too much to handle. The writer didn’t after all of that intense emotional and physical abuse of their protagonist character, didn’t even have the guts to give it a proper burial! Instead they cowered behind “ what if” mode.
The only grace this drama has earned?! Leading actors and the supporting cast. Stellar performance from all. I suggest to the production team, avoid making dramas from books written by this author. It’s a waster of time to follow the script of the book up to certain point and then start doing “ this is our version “ story.

Love can come in many forms

Wow. The dialogue in this drama is truly genius in its honesty. It takes a sledgehammer to any fake, politically correct outward appearances and masks, shattering them completely to reveal the raw vulnerability of a real human being underneath—what people really quietly think underneath all their disguise and armor. It's like a breath of fresh air. It reveals how small actions can have far-reaching consequences, causing the real victims of a situation to suffer from the actions of others and showing how that pain can deeply penetrate the soul. It also shows how acts of kindness, no matter how small, can change a person's life. Even just one person who really believes in you can completely change the colors of your life. This drama hits like an arrow penetrating through all the armor, straight through the heart.

Strong potential but has disappointments

I really anticipated this drama as watching some of the behind the scenes releases by the actors as wrap up promotion had me excited. I can see quite an improvement in ZLH’s acting, he’s been really using his eyes to act. He truly has a lot of potential!

I felt disappointed however, with the story and plot, it was too much of back and forth. As for the camera work and all, some angles really made the characters unflattering. Like many have said, it really had the short drama feels of being dramatic. They had a promising budget for costumes and set but with the direction and messy plot, I felt if gave off some cheap vibes. They had a strong cast with great actors and actresses but they were not able to show their full potential due to a weak script and messy directing. Such a shame that I rolled my eyes many times at the plot. The final climax really made the story feel better, but it didn’t happen till literally the last few episodes. Many voiced that the ending was too sad, however, I think not all stories need a perfect happy ending. Each character ended their story in their own unique ways. Overall, it was still enjoyable , but don’t have too high of hopes!

- The humor feels organic rather than forced, with plenty of lighthearted moments that balance the more emotional and serious scenes.
- The plot is well-constructed, blending romance, mystery, and legal drama without losing focus. I especially appreciated its thoughtful portrayal of defense attorneys and the importance of due process, as well as its commentary on the harassment and exploitation of women in the entertainment industry. These themes give the story more depth beyond the central romance.
- One of the drama's strongest aspects is how it examines the unreliability of memory. Rather than relying on typical misunderstandings, it shows how two people can experience the same events differently because of their insecurities and assumptions, making the emotional payoff feel earned.

Cons:

While the overall story is strong, the pacing noticeably slows in the final stretch. The drama could have comfortably wrapped up in around 24 episodes instead of 30, as several late episodes feel repetitive and prolong conflicts that had already reached satisfying conclusions.

Overall:
You Are My Fateful Love offers a heartfelt blend of romance, mystery, and personal growth. Its strongest qualities are its emotionally mature storytelling, memorable performances, and thoughtful exploration of how our memories and assumptions shape the relationships we build. well it was 30 minutes......

so I'm not really sure what I expected from a 30-minute show, but there was a lot wrong, but I think the worst of it was that it could have been something really good! the thought process was there! but for 30 minutes it wasn't really any time to flesh out anything, not the action, not the relationship, it's like they met for 10 seconds and all of a sudden they're soulmates! but honestly the biggest issue that I had with the whole show was the fact that the end, big spoiler here, was a one year ghosting! I mean I understand that a lot of dramas have a time jump but there's always something leading into it, this boy got a phone call that his dad passed away, and that was it, he just took off, he didn't tell anybody, for a whole year, no phone calls, no text, no freaking letter! this is the 21st century, he could have dropped him a text! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Worth Watching

The drama was a really sweet and enjoyable drama. Since it's only 8 episodes long, it goes by pretty quickly, making it an easy binge without ever feeling rushed.

One of my favorite things about this drama was how unique and interesting the storyline was. It wasn't your typical romance, and the plot kept me engaged from beginning to end. The twists were well placed, and everything unfolded at a nice pace without dragging or feeling too fast. (Even though we could see it coming who the ghost was looking for...)

The romance was definitely a slow burn, but that's what made it so satisfying. Watching the main couple gradually grow closer felt natural and believable, and their chemistry made every little moment between them meaningful.

I also really enjoyed the soundtrack. The songs fit the emotional scenes perfectly and added to the overall atmosphere of the drama.

Even though it was a shorter series, the characters were easy to become attached to, and the story wrapped up in a satisfying way. If you're looking for something heartwarming with a unique plot, lovable characters, and a slow-burn romance, I'd definitely recommend giving this a watch. It's a short drama that's well worth your time.

It feels like another recycled historical drama, borrowing too much from recent productions.

I've liked Chen Zhe Yuan ever since Hidden Love, but it was Fated Hearts that truly made me admire him as an actor. So, of course, I wasn't going to miss Royal Betrothal.

And Wu Jin Yan is simply beyond praise. I love her performances, especially in Story of Yanxi Palace, and she was absolutely magnificent in The Double.

Unfortunately, after seven episodes, this drama still hasn't lived up to my expectations. An intense plot, a powerful male lead, a clever female lead, revenge, political intrigue, and a struggle for power—on paper, it has all the ingredients for an outstanding story. So where does it go wrong? Why does nothing about this drama captivate me?

I've been asking myself that question, and I've come to one conclusion: this is yet another repetitive story, too similar to countless dramas we've seen in recent years.

Not even Wu Jin Yan's remarkable acting can save such an unappealing female character. Despite her tragic past, her determination to survive, and her relentless pursuit of revenge against a cruel and unjust world, she leaves me emotionally untouched. I feel no empathy for her shattered soul or her broken heart. The hardships she has endured have turned her into someone cold, harsh, and manipulative, making it difficult for me to connect with her.

As if that weren't enough, her styling is simply awful. The pale makeup and pinkish eye contour make her look tired, swollen, and much older than she should. The costumes do her no favors either. She appears far too mature for the role and noticeably older than her male counterpart. So far, there is absolutely no chemistry between her and the emperor.

I'm honestly growing tired of seeing the same formulas repeated over and over again. I'll give this drama a few more episodes, but I'm not sure even Chen Zhe Yuan's charm will be enough to keep me watching.

Loved the tension

Not a huge fan of horror movies but this one just did it for me. Loved the atmosphere.
1st season was overall the best, which is based on the Webtoon, so the storyline is comprehensive without unnecessary fillers. Focuses more on the main character and the moral dilemma of what it means to be human. The focus branches out in later seasons to other characters and you sadly don't see him for a few episodes straight.

Song Kang did a great job. Watched this immediately after Love Alarm came out, his acting duality is striking.
Go Youn-jung played a badass role, fell in love.
The CGI was lacking in some scenes but the acting compensated for it.
Cried a few times.
The outro is a banger.

Tons of great characters, minus 1

This might just be the only drama with a large cast where I thought all of the characters had interesting stories and personalities. A lot of times I sigh and power through scenes with side characters but here I actually looked forward to seeing most of them. I mean I even liked her crazy obsessive first(ex? non?) husband a ton. ML still wins the prize for best character though. He was mischievous, funny and intense. He’s completely devoted to FL(do I get it? Not really but I expect no less from a ML). Sadly the character who was lacking was a very important one, FL. FL has very little emotion, little personality, few expressions. Now pair this with this drama’s big flaw- we don’t get deep enough into any character’s mind, and you get a FL who doesn’t give much. I mean, FL became two people and it was just business as usual? No explanations or insights into how she felt or how it affected her? Nothing?! It’s baffling to get past, but the rest of the characters held this drama up for me despite FL and all the missing information

One of the Worst Chinese Dramas I've Ever Watched

I regret wasting my time on this drama. It started with an interesting premise but quickly turned into a frustrating mess. The plot is full of forced misunderstandings, unnecessary drama, and terrible decision-making. The main character constantly gets pushed around instead of acting intelligently, making it difficult to root for him.

The romance feels forced and repetitive, with the same conflicts happening over and over again. Many side characters are annoying, and several storylines go nowhere. The pacing is painfully slow, especially in the middle episodes, and the ending doesn't make the long journey feel worthwhile.

The acting is decent, but even good performances can't save a weak script. If you're looking for a satisfying revenge story, strong character development, or logical writing, this isn't it.

Overall, I found Overdo disappointing, frustrating, and forgettable. I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy endless misunderstandings and characters making irrational choices.
