In love

Definitely one of my favorite dramas I've watched in the past couple years. The negative reviews truly don't make sense to me, and I'm highly convinced that those that didn't like it were either of low intelligence and had a hard time with the plot, or they are fans of the ML's previous drama and are review and rate bombing. Ignore the negative reviews and for sure try it. Mu Qingyuan is definitely going on my favorites list.

My only criticisms of the show are
- It does get repetitive at times
-While I love the toxic vibes of their relationship, it was kind of just going in circles until the very end. She shouldve given something up to be with him.
- I wish we had the hero at full power. He was weak most of the drama and weaker towards the end. And heroine was weaker. Really wish the poison thing was resolved earlier.
- The end was probably the most disappointing. It made some things confusing, and I wish they stayed in the Demon Sect. And I wish we got to see kids or martial bliss or something since instead of the random side character scenes and that singing part towards the end.

GL can be more than just 2 beautiful women kissing

Petrichor is forever in my heart just like GAP The Series and here's why.

Once upon a time GAP The Series have changed my life. It introduced me to Thai GL Universe that I am currently live in 🩄 I accepted that sometimes GLs are cringe and awkward, doesn't have a decent plot BUT I can watch WLW content with beautiful charming ladies.

Petrichor, however, raised standards much higher.

Let's start with obvious - Englot. Absolutely sure that they had (or have) some kind of romantic relationship. And you can tell. Their chemistry is on the next level. I didn't like their first project - Show me love. Club Friday Hot Love Issue is also not that good. Both series are lacking plot, you watch it just because of the beautiful women. Acting was also not that good. I was sincerely shocked (in a good way) with how much better they were acting in Petrichor. Not too much, no cringe, no awkwardness 🔝
The plot. I am not that smart so I was genuinely surprised with it. Yes, subsequent events felt a little too rushed but otherwise it'd be another 30 episodes 😅
Production, music, light and cinematography are also great.

Ultimately, Petrichor is certainly not a masterpiece of the film industry in general, but for GL industry it is clearly a high-quality product that stands out.

The Drama Everyone’s Complaining About — But Shouldn’t

I honestly don’t get the hate this drama is getting.

The acting alone deserves way more appreciation. Zhou Yiran literally *acts with his eyes* — half the time he doesn’t even need dialogue to show what his character is feeling, and that’s rare to see. Bao Shangen is also perfectly cast; she balances cuteness and fierceness so naturally that her character never feels one-dimensional.

Sure, maybe the editing skills aren’t perfect, but the concept is really nice. There are so many scenes executed beautifully — from the cinematography to the aesthetics, a lot of effort is clearly put in. I do think some slack could be cut where the execution isn’t flawless, but overall it doesn’t take away from the experience.

Is the plot flawless? No. There are a few confusing parts here and there, but nothing that makes the story impossible to follow. It’s still engaging and enjoyable if you’re actually watching the drama instead of nitpicking every little detail.

It feels like people just decided to complain before even giving it a fair chance. For me, the performances and the overall concept alone make it worth watching, and the drama definitely doesn’t deserve the amount of hate it’s getting.

Visual Perfection but a slow burn ✹✹

Generation to Generation is a wuxia drama that is truly a treat for the eyes, even if the story moves a bit slowly. Even though the plot gets a little boring or repetitive in the middle because there are so many different sects to keep track of, the acting really saves the show.

Zhou Yiran is incredibly handsome and perfect as the "cold" leader, especially during his grand entrances, while Bao Shangen (Baobao) is so cute and smart that you can't help but root for her. The production is top-tier; it was filmed in beautiful places like Sichuan, and the hanfu they wore used such pretty colors that every frame looked like a painting.

One thing that surprised me was the music. Even though I am a huge OST lover and usually have a playlist full of C-drama songs, I didn’t really enjoy the OST for this drama. It just didn't hit the same way other shows do. However, if you have some patience for the pacing, the ending is amazing. The wedding scene is a total highlight—the wedding clothes are breathtaking and make the whole journey feel worth it!

An exercise in tedium.

Oh boy, another grating addition to the BL genre. I was looking for a light-hearted, breezy watch but all I got was a headache. The main leads have the depth of a piece of cardboard—and I’m pretty sure I could poke holes in their logic just as easily. They feel more like tropes than people. While Watarai’s attentiveness initially seemed sweet, it quickly devolved into a suffocating, overbearing obsession that lacked any real foundation? Even if I tried to suspend my disbelief regarding 'love at first sight,' the execution here feels unearned and hollow. Hioki’s consistently lukewarm reactions only add to the frustration. I don't get what on earth Watarai even saw in him, he's so fucking boring. Has the bar for BL dramas officially hit the floor? Needless to say, I'm beyond exhausted by the blatant misogyny towards the girl students, who are constantly reduced to rude bullies or jealous rivals. YAWN. It’s lazy and regressive writing ! There isn't a single redeeming quality here to justify sticking around past episode 7.

The Starry Love is one of those dramas that many people absolutely loved, i watched mainly for Chen Xingxu but ended loving the second male lead Luke Chen and plot better. Compared to other recent wuxia and xianxia dramas, where male leads often have strong personalities this character felt much more basic and lacking depth. I dont think it was the actor’s fault — it seemed more like a writing and direction issue. I think Chen Xingu looks better in modern clothing like in " My Boss" seriously sexy in corporate outfit. Maybe it was just the charactor itself that gave the main male lead a bland out view. However, the second couple completely won me over. The relationship between Chaofeng and Qingkui felt much more natural and heartfelt. Qingkui’s kindness and sincerity made her incredibly lovable, and her gentle personality was refreshing. Watching Chaofeng slowly fall for her while trying to convince himself that his ambitions mattered more was genuinely enjoyable. Their dynamic had warmth, humor, and emotional sincerity that made their storyline the highlight of the drama for me.

Subtitle problem

The series is really okay. The problem i have is the subtitle. VERY POOR.

They're saying something, but the subtitle is saying something else, it's just too obvious. I'm still watching it because i enjoy the storyline.

Again, the subtitle is VERY POOR.

palace drama

This drama is extremely enjoyable and perfect for rewatching again and again without ever getting bored. It even has some connections to real history, though of course it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. The story of a servant who rises from a lowly position to a low-rank consort, and eventually becomes the highest-ranking consort in the palace, gaining control over the back palace, is truly amazing. Watching her journey and growth is both inspiring and captivating. The female lead is incredibly smart, systematically taking down her opponents one by one.

Action Sequences
The action scenes are arguably the highlight of
the series. The firefighting and rescue operations
are executed with remarkable realism and
tension. From large-scale earthquake disasters
to intense building fires, the choreography and
practical effects make the audience feel the true
danger faced by "heroes of our time". These
sequences are not just for show; they provide a
thrilling backdrop that tests the characters'
resolve and professional growth.
Conclusion
While the pacing can feel slightly slow in the
middle, the strong chemistry between the leads
(Yang Yang and Wang Churan) and the superb
technical production make it a must-watch. If
you are looking for a drama that honors the
bravery of first responders while delivering a
heartfelt story of reconciliation, this is definitely
worth your time

legendary screen writer

Overall, this drama is inspired by real historical events, which makes it really interesting to watch. Even though it was filmed quite a while ago, the quality is outstanding. The costumes, the sets, the cases, and the locations are all beautifully designed—everything feels carefully crafted. It truly feels like a high-budget drama. The actors bring the era to life perfectly, whether as generals, advisors, or soldiers, and the fight scenes are incredible.

But the real highlight of this drama is the screenwriting. It can be a bit complex and requires the audience to pay attention, connecting events and character actions over time. Many people, especially older viewers, watch this drama multiple times because of how well everything is connected and how satisfying it is to follow the story. The plot threads weave together beautifully, making this truly a “wow” drama.

prepare tissue

This drama is a complete masterpiece. Everything about it is impressive—from the costumes, cast, and acting to the cinematography and fight scenes, everything is top-notch. There’s a case that the female lead tries to solve, and her actions around it naturally drive the story forward, shaping the plot and her connection with the male lead.
Even though the plot wasn’t exactly what I expected, I really loved the journey of all the characters together. Despite some conflicts along the way, they overcame them and gradually came to understand each other, working together to achieve a shared goal.

epic comeback

This revenge drama is absolutely amazing and a must-watch. I don’t even know where to start, but the cinematography, filming, case design, and acting are all 10 out of 10. One of the most interesting parts is how the female lead’s actions unintentionally drive the story forward. She writes a poem admiring the princess of the country, and the princess sees it and mistakenly believes it was written by the female lead’s husband. Feeling that someone finally appreciates her sacrifices for the country, the princess decides she wants the female lead’s husband, not knowing it was actually the female lead who wrote the poem. This misunderstanding sets off a chain of events that eventually shapes the entire story, leading to the main characters’ fates and bringing everything together.

There are also many villains in this drama, and each one is very well developed. The female lead takes them down one by one, but thanks to the male lead, she receives help—not in a way that feels forced or one-sided. He also gains something from it, so it doesn’t feel like he’s just helping her because he likes her. Their dynamic is complex and satisfying, which makes the story even more enjoyable.
