One of the best series I’ve ever watched!

Note: I’ve watched all episodes. I’m sure my blood pressure rose incredibly while I was watching this. My heart rate definitely did. Every episode hit me like a freight train. Everyone’s acting was so so amazing. I rated the rewatch value lower only because my tender heart wouldn’t be able to go through the trauma again. I kept thinking I should stop watching, but I HAD to know what happened in the end. This series is not for the faint of heart. Lots and lots of blood and violence but it all served a purpose. Watch it through your fingers if you need to. ?

Attracted by the leading actor and actress

The biggest attraction for me is the leading actor Zhang Zhehan! He is such an excellent actor, I really wanted to see the acting he did seven year ago. Needless to say, there is absolutely no disappointment. Even though his acting was not as mature as he is now, but he was so charming and cute to the point that you would ignore other deficiencies of the show ❤️
I have to mention that the leading actress is a Korean actress, I don’t know how to spell her name, but she is also very good at acting.

As far as the story, one would enjoy it if you keep in your mind that this is a comedy and it was made seven or eight years ago.

It's surprising that the rate isn't higher

To be honest I started this drama because of the main leads. Indeed I love Ding Yuxi and Peng Xiao Ran so I was curious to see how they would be together and I wasn't disappointed at all !!

The story :
I agree that the plot is a bit far-fetched but once you accepted it you just enjoy it. It may be simple but it's enjoyeable because it's coherent and logical. So if you expect heavy plot and intrigue you will be disappointed.
The story left me with questions and those questions rope the me in because I wanted answers. At first I thought there were plot holes but those same plot holes explained slowly throughout the drama in a way that ties up everything neatly by the story’s end so it was very satisfying. I discovered that the drama is full of foreshadowing. In fact, despite being a light romantic comedy, it has some of the best foreshadowing that I have seen in years. This works with the characters as well, the setup of some characters early in the drama leads to a big twists in the last third of the drama. The details are also fun, some like calla lilies being poisonous or horse dung containing antibacterial fungi are weird bits of trivia that are used in a hilarious way, I was literally rolling on the floor lmao
The drama keeps the essence of the story and characters. We see the main leads growing together as a loving couple while keeping their essence. Ji Man keeps her tenacious spirit and Ning Yuxuan transforms into a lovesick husband but retains his sense of conflict between honour and love. The sisterhood storyline is really great, I loved the bond between Ji Man, Miss Shui, Lian Xue and the maids of the FL.

Acting/Cast :
The leads Peng Xiao Ran and Ding Yuxi are great as I expected. Peng Xiao Ran is stunning and Ding Yuxi is very handsome as usual. They can both act very well, there are no scenes where one actor ruins the scene because of bad acting. The characters they portray, Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan respectively , both have a clear sense of growth by the end. Their chemistry is also amazing, this couple have moments that can be rewatched several times as they are very sweet. I also think that Ding Yuxi has again improved his acting since the last time I saw him in The Romance of Tiger and Rose, his micro-expressions are better than ever.
Another highlight is that all of the main characters undergo growth wich is really enjoyeable : Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan go from enemies to lovers, but in a way that really feels natural, like a young couple going into a serious and mature relationship where they support and love each other. Gui Bai finally overcomes his hesitations to fall in love, Miss Shui finally leaves her past behind and Qian Xue develops the confidence to become a businesswoman. Even Muxu and Sang Shen transform a little bit.

Music :
I have nothing special to say, the OST was really good. For once the opening is not a song, it's only music and I enjoyed it a lot, I couldn't skip it !! Overall it was good, Either I was vibing while watching the drama or I was crying during emotional scenes.

To conclude I think I will rewatch it someday because the details make you want to rewatch, the funny moments make you want to rewatch and most of the sweet scenes of our main leads makes you want to rewatch it again and again. I think I would recommended it to fans of the main leads like me, people who are looking for a lighthearted story without too much plot and people who love very sweet romances. All of this makes me rate this drama 10/10

Great Drama but ending could have been a lot better

This drama had a lot of cute moments, I liked watching the ML slowly fall for the FL and watching her help him deal with his own trauma. The acting was fantastic on everyone’s end and it had me hooked the entire drama. I started to get antsy during the last 2 episodes when I realized there was still a lot to do and couldn’t imagine how it would all be resolved. For me this ending was lukewarm, I know it’s considered a happy ending because she did come back to present day but we did not get to see it until the very last minutes of the episode. I wanted to see the FL reunite with her best friend, and just more of the couple in present day. Overall a good drama and I don’t regret watching it.

It was fun to watch and enjoyable

They were so cute and funny together. I loved them even though it felt like they were friends because they didn't kiss much, but I respect how Naoya didn't kiss Kota unless it was under his consent. I really enjoyed watching this maybe 7 times already. I just love their cuteness and how funny they were. Especially how innocent Kota seemed, it was so good with Naoya's vibe. I loved this couple so much and I recommend watching this. I don't know what was missing beside them not kissing much but it was something there that made me love it, but not as much as I should've. I wish there was more to it, but I don't blame Kota for being the way he was. Also I love how Naoya made Kota feel loved instead of feeling the way he did about himself before. Naoya made Kota feel safe with him and it was so cute. I also love how he mad hi feel like he didn't have to act with him.

THE BEST MEDICAL DRAMA

I don't usually write reviews, but this drama deserves it. I finished it a few months ago but hadn't thought about writing a review until now.

I have a lot to say about this series, but I want to start by saying that it's not for everyone. Considering that Shin Won Ho and Lee Woo Jung (director and writer of series like Prison Playbook and Reply) are behind this series, it's not surprising that it may not be for everyone, as it has its characteristic style that may not appeal to the general audience.

The series has a somewhat slow start as it needs to introduce many characters, and you might find yourself confused during the first two or three episodes. However, after a few more episodes, you'll be completely immersed in this great story. Personally, I love it because it's not the typical medical series we're accustomed to. There are no doctors with superhuman and unreal abilities, and they're not always rushing around the emergency room or in life-or-death surgeries. This series is more than that; it avoids falling into the typical clichés found in other dramas. It focuses more on the friendship of the five protagonists and their daily lives within the same hospital.

The relationship between the protagonists is incredible; their chemistry goes beyond the screen, and at times, you can feel that they're not acting but displaying their real personalities. Each of them has their problems and insecurities, but they support each other in difficult times, and in good times, they are always there to have fun together.

Another thing I want to mention is that the OST of this series is wonderful. I finished the series months ago, but I'm still listening to the songs because they are really good.

This series may not be for everyone, but if it manages to captivate you, you'll find it hard to let go, and you'll miss all the characters when it's over. It's a slow series that takes its time to tell its story. The romance is so well-written that it doesn't overshadow what is truly important in this narrative: friendship and the patients they have to help day by day.

If you've made it this far, thank you very much for reading, and I hope that if you decide to watch it, you enjoy it as much as I did.

A ML WHO IS STRONG AND SUPPORTIVE!

Let me start by saying I loved the feel of this drama. The warm undertones and emotional connection between Zhoa Jin and Xu Nuo kept me watching. This drama portrays the growth of the relationship between the ML and the FL. They met by chance and felt a pull toward each other. At the start, the FL was in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Peng Yu An who never seemed to have time for her. It is also clear that his father is against them being together and wants Yu An to have a more advantageous relationship with his partner. Without going into details, the FL breaks up with the boyfriend, but he refuses to accept the breakup. Yet, Zhoa Jin and Xu Nuo continued to grow closer and this is the part that made this drama so beautiful.

There is a secondary relationship between the FL's best friend and ML's friend Xu Yang. There is also a touching storyline with the ML's sister and her friend. This drama shows different relationships and motivations. Some relationships are based on dependency and convenience. Some are formed based on what might be considered to be advantageous. And some grow even when up against adversities...this is the slow burn we see with the ML and the FL.

I loved the ML! It baffles me that there are so many negative comments against the ML. He was warm, caring, supportive, considerate, gentle, and smart. His character is appealing because he shows strength and conviction. But even though he appears soft on the outside, he can defend himself. The ex-boyfriend sees him as pitiful as he is divorced and has a younger sister who has health issues. But this is just one of the indications that the ex-boyfriend is overconfident and too much into himself because others see the ML as handsome and wonderful. The ML is the main reason I watched this drama. Zhang Wan Zi is now on my favorite actors list! Sigh...

Different from other the typical K-drama with a realistic storyline

I heard a lot of bad comments about this drama that's why i didn't feel like watching it for a long time. But because of the cast i finally decided to give it a try and oh boy i am glad i did. This drama is great!
Many people say Park Jae-Eon is a walking red flag and yes he IS, but in my opinion we see a lot of character development for the male and also the female lead. He learns to become a better person through her. While Yu Na Bi learns to become a stronger person through him.
Don't wanna spoil, just go and watch it!

The Tale of Bai-Hei Fengxi

"Who Rules The World" initially presented a challenge to draw me in, but after three episodes, I found myself captivated by the immersive storyline. The exceptional cast, led by the talented Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi, delivered performances that added layers of depth to the narrative. The romance aspect showcased remarkable chemistry, steering away from typical rom-com misunderstandings. Instead, the main couple thrives on a foundation of deep trust and open communication, bringing a refreshing authenticity to their relationship dynamics. This intentional choice allows the audience to revel in the genuine connection between the characters. ❤️

The well-executed plot maintained my interest with its numerous twists and political intrigues. The drama excelled in portraying a strong, independent female lead, featuring impressive fight scenes and emphasizing equality with her male counterpart. The beautiful set designs and costumes added an aesthetic charm, enriching the overall viewing experience.

?"Who Rules The World" is a captivating blend of romance, intrigue, and empowerment, making it an absolute must-watch. ❤️ It is now a new addition to my list of favorite historical dramas.

Everything is great except a couple things that make me wanna punt myself from the 8th story

This is a cute, predictable, childhood friendship turned romantic type story. The acting was impeccable, the chemistry between the boys (like all of them, even the friendships that are just friendships) was great. There are a lot of rough moments they have to get through, but they're handled really believably, there werent many moments where I felt kicked out of the story byecause something was farfetched and some of the conflicts gave me some heart squeezes, no tears for this one though.

I think I could rewatch it if I really wanted, maybe in some years, but I'm also not big on rewatching anything, so take that as you will.

Cute as it is, I dont think I wouldve reviewed at all if I wasn't bursting at the seams to say:
wtf is the child + adult storyline???? A fifteen year old thirsts after a 20-sumn yr old and she ISNT immediately like no, absolutely not. And then her FRIEND (debatable, maybe her cellmate) is like, "i just dont want you to regret rejecting him like???? Babe??????? W h a t
And then shes going thru something traumatic and terrifying and this motherfucker is like "HI YES EXCUSE ME, I SEE YOURE GOING THROUGH A LOT RIGHT NOW BUT IM ALL GROWED UP HAHA plsdatemethx" i am flabbergasted because everything else was sooo good
Including that character until she failed to not fall for an actual child, the bar is in hell, how did you trip under it???

And Eiw's voice bro ??
It didnt bother me until literally the second to last episode where theres an event he really has to get emotional for. I had to mute it until he was done which, considering the scene, REALLY took me out of the story. Up until that point, I think the whining wasn't the worst? Idk, ive watched things that have made me want to extract and pulverize my eardrums and this wasn't that for the most part.

Anyway, i would still recommend this because it's cute, the adult mentioned above has no sense but doesnt commit a felony (again, this is hell, would you like to meet the bar?), and the relationships between all the other characters are so fun to see play out.

(It would literally be a 9.5 without that one effing storyline.)

Science fiction story about time travel

There was a lot going on in this drama, and I don't even know how to start writing a review about it! This series has many very good point, but there are a few things that bothered me. I don't think this drama deserves a 7.9, I think it should be higher. The plot is really unique and kind of disturbing (in a good way). There is a lot of pain and confusion, but Jian Xiao Yuan always tried to persevere. The suspence in this series was really overwhelming for me, thus I binged watched all the episodes, otherwise I could not concetrate on other things without wondering what would happen next. However, although there is romance I found the suspence and the main plot line to overshadow the romance, therefore, even though I began the series for the romance, in the end it turned more into finding out the truth behind the female lead's time travel mystery.

What I liked:
I thought this would be more of an innocent sci-fi + romance series, but it was not like that at all. It was pretty disturbing and shocking, and one could really sympathise for the female lead's painful confusion about her existence. The actress Liu Hao Cun was impressive, like it overshadowed Lin Yi's acting! He wasn't bad though, she was just very good at showing her feelings.
Jian Xiao Yuan is a strong character, she is confident, optimistic and resilient. But she also suffers a lot, mixed with the acting, I felt so sorry for her. Qi Lian was always supportive of her, and helped her.

What I disliked:
The series was extremely engaging until about ep 20. Afterwards it started to become draggy, and kind of annoying.. I enjoyed the makeup/hairstylist plot line in the beginning, it added a bit of lightness to the intensity of the story, but in the last 10 episodes it just became more of a way to make the series longer, instead of just finishing it. The ending felt very underwhelming, like the drama started off with soo many good and interesting plot twists, but the ending was just okay. Nothing special. To be honest I skipped some scenes in the last four episodes because of that.

Overall I recommend this drama. But I think I have to warn you before watching, that if you're not in the mood for something intense then maybe don't watch it.

!!Light Spoilers!!
The friendship between the male lead and female lead started off fine, but later on, still early in the story (like ep 6 or 7 I think), there will be a very emotional and traumatising situation between the leads. He will become a bit aggressive and it was hard to watch. It was hard to get over that later, as he never really apologised to her, in my opinion. I like that the series doesn't romanticise the situation of the two main characters but that episode really felt too much.

Non distinctive Xianxia

Xianxia’s typically follow the same routes and this one is no exception. It’s a standalone sequel to Ancient Love Poetry but didn’t compare, in terms of execution, to ALP.

Plot

The story wasn’t uniquely theirs as it takes its queue from many other Xianxias and pieces it together within this story. Enemies to lovers, secrets, misunderstandings, self sacrifice, evil clans, reincarnations, etc. are all there. The typical makings of a Xianxia can be found in this show. Although it’s typical and has a sense of predictability, there are still moments that will make you smile.

Characters

If you are a fan of the cast then you may enjoy this one. I wouldn’t say this was some of the main cast’s best work but they performed to the best the role in this show can offer.

Although ALP wasn’t one my top Xianxias, it still has a higher rewatch value than this one. Visuals wasn’t high budget, nor was the production. Costumes were also typical. I enjoyed this for its simplicity and enjoy some bits of the OST but a one time watch is enough.

Serotonin boost

The story :
The storyline may seem quite simple at the beginning but as you progress through the episodes you realize that it's not as simple as you thought it was. I really liked the plot, there wasn't any dull moment when I watched it. It narrates a fun story set in the fictional kingdom of Xinchuan, which is the most powerful and which presides over 8 other provinces (which have all their specificities). Every 3 years as a tribute, each province send young ladies for a selection as wives or concubines of the Xinchuan princes. And after some events during the selection, the adorable foodie Li Wei from Jichuan becomes the concubine of the weak and unfavored 6th prince, Yin Zheng.

The cast :
I loved a lot of characters. I think that the main couple has a very good chemistry !! I hope we can see Bai Jing Ting and Tian Xi Wei together as main leads again in the future. Both of them have good comedic expression and they are fantastic at turning funny moments into heart stopping passionate ones !! Although there is a romance involved , this drama is a lot more about sisterhood and women's themes which is not a flaw at all. There is no rivalry and scheming between women, unlike other historical dramas which makes this one very different and enjoyeable.
Also, almost all couples in this drama are lovely because each romance is developed which makes the characters very endearing. Besides, I really loved on of the secondary couples, Shangguan and Yin Qi literally stole my heart. These characters are so different and that's why this couple is awesome : the fierce Shangguan, a princess from the powerful and matrilocal Danchuan with him, the goofy and smiley 5th prince. They humorously navigate true challenges and hardships together which leads them to understand and love each other.
The sisterhood moments were really good, all these women are supporting each other no matter what and have an awesome bond. They went through a lot of hardships and each one of them succeeded in what she wanted to do in the end of the drama.
Overall, each character in the drama was immensely elevated by all the cast’s excellent acting. The depth and richness of each character and their development were incredible. Moreover, all the character’s interactions and chemistry were also realistically and convincingly portrayed.

To sum up this is a gorgeous, lighthearted and highly enjoyable story about women's struggles and sisterhood with some romance thrown in. The humour is very well and I think it can really be a comfort drama to watch when you're in a bad mood because it will make you smile and laugh for sure. I highly recommend it and that's why I rate this feel good drama 10/10

A nice romantic comedy

Although the plot is a bit cliche, the show was made a few years ago and the cast (including charming actors and actresses) shines with their charming looks. Excellent performances, especially Zhang Zhehan's portrayal of the arrogant star Gu Chijun, are the cornerstone of the show's charm. Gu Chijun's character seems arrogant, but he is very soft at heart. His interactions with the heroine are full of sweet moments, which is irresistible. Park Min Young's appearance and acting skills are both top-notch in the drama, the heroine Heo Jin played by her is cute, naughty and smart. The show, while narratively familiar, becomes an enjoyable watch that leaves viewers wanting more.

everything “what’s wrong with secretary kim” failed to do

essentially it’s very similar to “what’s wrong with secretary kim” from the goofy yet insightful subordinate/friend to the narcissistic male lead.

however, “secretary kim” was below decent and lacked in almost every category. king the land is excelling at what secretary kim failed to achieve. the light hearted comedy is actually funny, there aren’t any cringe moments, the romance seems pretty genuine. i can feel an actual connection between characters.

compared to “secretary kim”, or even “business proposal”, the acting is excellent. there aren’t any exaggerated expressions or forced comedy. everything felt relatively natural and genuine to me. the banter was really cute and witty and the characters were smart. there are many tropes in this drama that have been overdone (ie. arcade game trope, stranded, accidentally meets her family etc) but both yoona and junho play their roles so well, it doesn’t feel repetitive.

prior to meeting the love interest in the show, sarang already is dating someone which is something we don’t really see in kdramas. in my opinion she was written really well and fleshed out like a real woman would be. she was hard to win over and she had principles and didn’t drop everything to be with a man, which i admired. her number one priority was always work and it was very evident that nothing could get in the way of that.

junhos character, won is our classic narcissistic ceo. he’s entitled and a douchebag but throughout the show we see him gradually show more kindness and warmth. we see how devoted he is to sarang and how she is his number one priority. even though we’ve seen this character plenty of times, something about gu won is done in a refreshing way.

soundtrack!! soundtrack was perfect. the first time i heard each song i had to download it. came in at the perfect times and was fitting to each scenario.

loved the side characters as well. the best friends and the coworkers i all thorough enjoyed and added to the story and their relationship. the only character that confused me was won’s dad. his motives throughout the show are a little hypocritical at times and i didn’t understand whose side he was on, but i didn’t dislike him. yay!!! this was a great show for me i loved it
