Twists and turns around every corner and an ending that leaves you with your jaw on the floor. A creepy hostel where everyone in it is harboring some dark secret or evil side of themselves, but inside there are no rules. Yoon Jung-Woo moves in and slowly begins his decent into madness.

--Spoilers Below --

Yoon Jung Woo when he's first introduced is a handsome, smart guy who is pursuing a job in tech. His girlfriend lives in a different city and is working for a large company. Jung Woo finds everyone in the hostel creepy and somewhat strange, but cannot find another place cheap enough, so he stays there. He slowly begins making friends with some of his neighbors, particularly a handsome dentist: Seo Moon Jo. As the months go by, Jung Woo finds his life dreary and finds everyone around him annoying and beneath him. His coworker speaks down on him, but is secretly a pervert. His boss who is supposed to be his friend... is trying to steal his girlfriend behind his back. He cuts every one off and begins spending more time with Moon Jo. Their relationship, although odd, was one of my favorites in the show. As more and more time progresses and the longer Jung Woo stays in the hostel, the more his mind goes crazy. It's hard to tell what's real and not real and in the end, he's the one who pays the price fully.

Seo Moon Jo is a serial killer who has been hiding in hostels with other killers moving around for years. He works as a dentist for his ordinary life and comes home to the hostel and is cannibal by night. He found solace in Eom Bok Soon and they begin running the hostel together as a cover for killing and eating people. They kill tourists and random people who come through, never being enough evidence for the hostel to be considered or they leave before the cops can come for them. He is more controlled with his killing and methodical and also wants to find a prodigy to pass on his talents and live on in them. Moon Jo slowly brainwashes Jung Woo and falls in love with him, making him do whatever he wants, and Jung Woo not even knowing. He knows what Jung Woo is capable of and brings it out of him. Towards the end as the cops zero in, he gets Jung Woo to kill him and completing his wish of living on inside of Jung Woo's mind.
I loved his character and the way Lee Dong Wook played him. Such a dark and evil character, but has such a charisma that even pulls you in as a viewer.

-- End of Spoilers --

I didn't care for the cop side of the story at all because the more interesting side of the story was in the hostel, in my opinion. I skipped through most of it and stuck with watching the main plotline. Other than that, I would say it's not one that you would be able to re-watch since the main mystery and thrill is gone, but it's still a great, easy, short watch.

Uhh...

Oh god! It's an amnesia drama, the most intense kind too. It feels like the humans who worked on this dram come from an alternate reality or a parallel universe. This drama by far had the highest concentration of "buffoonery" in any makjang out there. Zero chill, ridiculous over the top and a "bruh moment" every other scene. All in all, not in a good way because this is the only thing the drama had going on for it, that is to throw as much makjang elements as fast as possible. The writer/director were speed running any% no-loot the human brain tolerance to "bullshit receptivity". Anyway, wouldn't recommend.

This is a very low quality drama. The cinematography, costumes, plot, and acting are really subpar. Although the main leads have shown better acting skills than the rest of the cast, there is not a single actor that can be singled out as having done a great portrayal of his/her character; possibly the worst are the actors that are doing the parents’ roles. Some reviewers have said that the drama is cute and great; but REALLY, don’t waste your time on this one. SPOILER: And what is that ending all about? Cliffhanger of her sister coming back hinting at a second season? Is she going to take her place now? JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT! It will be terrible to continue with this series, get the main leads into another drama to give them a better acting opportunity!

Disappointing

Yang Mai looked like ,she is going to attend party all the time.Like seriously , who dress up like that for office. Her body language was irritating . Xu Kai was good.Drama could have been better;
Yang Mai was so so good in Ten Miles of Peach Blossom.I expected something similar, but here it felt like she delivered the dialogue and finish the scene. No room for improvement.
I dropped it after 10 episode.Lost interest after seeing her acting.
Felt like she was doing a favor by delivering dialogues.

You will never regret watching this

probably the best drama I have seen and in 2022
saw this trailer from my YouTube recommendations and spark my attention. waited for 2 months for it to come out as expected it didn't disappoint me. This story plot is so interesting and gives off the fresh youth vibe. The acting was so on point that I fell for both the male and female leads not to mention the villians also did very great. The set up to gao jian hong arc is very understandable and realistic. The music choice for this song is SO SO NICE and the fact that the side cast sang it makes it even better. I love the casting for this drama , Chen feiyu did a amazing job potraying li xun and so is Zhang jingyi I can literally see zhuyun in her. I have finish watching this drama almost about 2 weeks ago 😭 still not over it. I am planning to rewatch it again soon. BUT THIS IS SUPER RECOMMENDED

A punishment given to a woman who commits the ultimate sin. She is to run a bar and help as many people as she can get over their hardships through their dreams. If you're looking for a heartfelt, subtle romance, and found family tropes then this is the one for you! The ending is very happy and leaves you feeling very satisfied with the whole show. I could watch this one over and over with how much I fell in love with all of the characters and their bar.

-- Spoilers Below --

Wol Joo is probably one of my favorite characters out of any kdrama I've watched so far. She's so strong, confident and stubborn, but can come off rude to others. She is very strong in her hatred for all people, this due to her terrible past, which led to her suicide. Now, she has to run a bar and help the very people she hates: Humans. Along the series, you slowly watch her open up and learn that things get better and to truly accept her feelings. You learn that her and Chef Gwi were actually supposed to be together in their past lives and now finally get to be together in their present while still running the bar. The slow burn and realization of their feelings was one of the best parts of the show, but didn't overpower any of the ongoing story already. Her relationship with Han Kang-Bae is so cute and I loved seeing her journey to actually getting to see her child and correct his soul. She took him in without even knowing it and to watch the 3 of them get closer was the best.

Han Kang-Bae has had a "power" or a curse as he would probably say that when he touches someone they have to tell him everything wrong going on in their lives. It's drained him from all of these years and he avoids any physical touch with anyone due to it becoming a huge problem. He finds it hard to build relationships and only really has a few friends from work. He lives a mundane life and eventually comes across the pop-up bar. You watch him slowly come to terms with his power and learn how it can actually be used for the better and can also help the bar as well. He also becomes super close with Wol Joo and Chef Gwi, learning that she is his mom, the ending becomes super perfect when he realizes her sacrifies were not in vain and they can continue to live happily together and continue to help people. He eventually also finds love with a security guard he meets on one of the calls for the bar and then eventually while she starts working at the store. She is immune to his touch powers which makes it easy for him to actually open up and be around her genuinely without the trauma dumping.

I do wish there was more of the storylines with Chef Gwi's backstory (even though his is technically tied with Wool Joo's) and definitely more with Kang Yeo-Rin. Both of their characters were so likable and played such great supporting actors that it left me wanting more from them! Especially after the romance between Yeo-Rin and Kang-Bae sparks up. I loved them together so much and same for Chef Gwi and Wool Joo. All relationships in the show are so close and sweet that it made it an even better watch. The chemistry between all of them was incredible.

Will definitely be re-watching this one and it quickly became a favorite of mine.

Enjoyable series.

I really liked this series. I'm not going to lie, there were times I skipped some scenes because they were too boring - for me - and the acting wasn't phenomenal, but it's a good show.

There is humor, love, several storylines - simple, action, lots of friendships. And if the acting of the actors were not incredible, their characters were endearing.

I sincerely think that this series would benefit from having a second season. We followed our characters during their entry, their training, over their college years, now I would like to see what they give as cops. I would also like more depth to their characters, and more complex storylines.

I really think the show scould be elevated further to its full potential.

Anyway, I would say that this series has everything you can look for in a typical K-drama, with a good production, good dialogues, good scenes whether fighting or character interactions.

The series was not that intense, mostly light-hearted. I sincerely hope for another season to raise the level of this good start that this season has given us.

Brutally Frank Review

I am the biggest fan of NY but my loyalty tilts more towards Urassaya Spearbund aka Yaya, This drama when it was just making a din, I was so invested. I thought this one will blow our senses. I was a bit insecure about the Male cast. I don't like the actor, I never found him that handsome and his acting was too laidback. But, when the casting changed I was so ecstatic, Though, I felt Nadech did not suit this character. But he proved me otherwise. He was like his character, Meany, unlikable and sometimes pathetic.
Talking about the other guy Monsieur Robaire, I was a bit skeptical about him too. But he too proved me wrong. Such charming behavior and his smile lit his whole face. It was my first Lakorn Second Lead syndrome. Charming and well-behaved. He was the stark opposite of Count In. I felt he had more chemistry with Pudsorn. I'm amazed Yes, I felt Yaya and New have to have another shot in the romantic drama.
But the winner I think was the supporting cast, From the menacing evil devil Capitane Jean to Paul to Kinnaree as the Magnificient Pinky. From the lovely sweet mother group and quirky funny brother Mi to equally amazing funny Jeep, Loyalty was unquestionable be it the hero team or the villain. It was awesome. Juan to Saraphi to Choi.. like they were so in their character.
Claira and Got were both amazing. It was that servant Lang who got my full attention when she came on screen.
Sweet ghost Duan Jan to mysterious Veena. I loved every character and enjoyed their dedication to their craft.
I really enjoyed the characters and felt they did their 100% best.
But, The story sucked. It ran hither and thither. It did not grip me and the romance sucked. The direction was very confusing. It was as if the Director one day just woke up and decided to add new characters and a new twist and then again he added another twist within that twist. I trust P'Off's work, But this was very badly executed.
I wish the story was gripping and tight. The romance was not needed at all. I wish Pudsorn choose no one and concentrated to become the biggest Dr in that era.
I wish In never came to propose pudsorn as their age gap and history made me squirm with unease when it was added forcefully. The only saving grace was the chemistry between NY and their gaze especially Nadech's when he speaks with yearning and touches Yaya's face. See I am using their real name as I did not feel the need for Pudsorn and In to be shown in this light.
Anyways, I felt it should have been great but it was not to be, But No one can take credit for the courage and daring of this drama. Such beautiful costumes, a Realistic Atmosphere of the drama, Showing such horrendous scenes, and the setting of every action scene was horrifying and chilling. Every abuse was so realistic and scary. The naked death scene was unsettling. I never had seen anything like this. Gay scenes shown, Like the actors who played were so realistic. Many scenes were scary and raw like the rape scene. It made me shocked and bitter. I was stunned.

Will I be rewatching it? No.
Will I forget it ... I guess No ... Sadly, Its going to stay with me for a long time.
Characters were the heroes in this drama. Hats off to them.

Great romantic legal drama

9.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2022 South Korean romantic legal drama with 16, 60 minute episodes.

First I will provide a synopsis then review.

Synopsis

Some events in life shape us dramatically. Kim Yu-ri (Lee Se-young) lost her father in a tragic accident as a high school student. The fact that the accident was preventable had the company followed better safety standards made her determined to become a lawyer and focus on improving the safety and work quality for workers in Korea. It becomes her life's mission. She went to high school and college with Kim Jeong-ho (Lee Seung-gi) and they were romantically involved until he discovered that his family was involved in the corruption behind Yu-ri's father's accident. With strong sense of ancestry and responsibility for family actions, Jeong-ho decides that he and Yu-ri cannot be a couple and, with little indication, disappears from her life. Both were star students who became legal geniuses but Yu-ri has since pursued her passion to fight the underdog while Jeong-ho become so disillusioned he retreated to investigating the case in private while managing some buildings he owns. When Yu-ri is encouraged to retire from her current legal position because she is taking on two many money losing cases, she decides to open a cafe where she not only serves coffee but also legal advice. The location she picks just happens to be in a building Jeong-ho owns and the two are reunited. Yu-ri does not understand why Jeong-ho ended their relationship all those years ago and still harbors feeling for him not realizing he also maintains feelings for her. Can the two bring the corrupt perpetrators to justice? Will the cafe be successful in helping those who desperately need it and sustain Yu-ri enough she can afford to maintain it? Can Yu-ri convince Jeong-ho that the tragedy is not his fault?

Review

The cases were interesting and the friendships and romances were heart warming. It is a very good legal drama and I recommend it for anyone that likes romantic legal dramas.

Spoilers* Jeong-ho's reluctance to start a romance with Yu-ri was hard to understand as the series wore on. I understood, at first, the whole sins of my father angle and while that is not so much a thing in American culture I could understand it from what I know of Korean culture. But, with that, you either let it go or pursue it. As is so often the case I felt like he should just tell her what his father had done and let her decide if it was too much for her. I loved her unshakable sense of justice. How she would fight for the underdog even knowing it might cause her hardship. I did not feel the loop on Jeong-ho's father was completely closed. An honest discussion between him and his son explaining why he did some of the things he did might have mended their relationship sooner. I liked that they had reunited in the end. To me it was not in character for Yu-ri to be so reluctant to marry. Those that are reluctant usually experience bad relationships all around them. But her mother had a good relationship with her father up until his accidental death and then re-married and had a good relationship with her step-father so her fear of commitment did not make sense. It was also a little frustrating to have Jeong-ho come around and she is now the one, in the latter half of the series, who isn't sure if they can be together long term. I loved that it ended with a wedding. I am a fan of the "happily ever after" and I love all the wardrobe and seeing them all dressed up like that. There was just enough after story after the wedding to know what direction their lives were headed without going overboard and restarting the story.

Lost potential..

Just watched the last episode and honestly i am disappointed.....i think the drama had soo much potential, especially the first 6 episodes were soo good but than they had to ruin the story with the love triangle. I didnt really like the motive of the villain either...i think it was kinda lazy to just make him crazy or whatever. I think thats just me but i didnt really understand the connection between Do Hae Yi and Lee Yoo Min.. just because they had similar characters ? I didnt really get that part tbh. I really liked their friendship and overcoming hardships and training togehter i just wish they would have helped other members other that Do Hae Yi out too. I understand that she is the Main character but i think it would bring out their deep bond more and i think it would have been great for the story too. I hate how they made the 3 things that will happen (sorry i dont know the english word) to the team into a big joke at the end by saying "somebody will die of LONELINESS", for me it really made the whole story into a big joke.... rather than a mystery drama it became a comedy. Still i think they are all great actors and i really enjoyed all of their acting. I am just disappointed in the story...

This was okay
The story was connected well
The suspense was good
The romance was light

But still don't know why I didn't like much
I have to admit it hooked me sometimes
But many times not
I think this was because I wasn't in a drama mood

But inspite of that I liked

I felt sorry for Lee Jae Kyoon so much I saw his end wasn't fair at all
I wished he lived inspite of all what happened

I liked what happened for Jeong Bo Seok [Chief State councillor] and his son so much
He annoyed me the whole drama

I hated when he killed Jae Kyoon
I felt with pain when he stabbed him twice 😭😭
I hated when he and all his friends died but not Jung Soon Won

The whole drama I wished that they saved the crown prince and hide him and he will appear again but that sadly didn't happen

I didn't like mich the role of Cha Hak Yeon
Joy childhood friend
It was literally just to fill the drama
They can easily cut his scenes and it won't affect the drama at all

In general it was nice smooth one with unexpected events

Just Brilliant in its Simplicity

While it may not be necessary to watch 1 before 2, it might make more sense since 2 is the prequel to 1. However, I watched 2 before the first series and for me, it was not necessarily the smoothest of transitions. But the story is simple, basic, yet conveys a sense of life as it really exists. One comes to terms with who he is and the other does not. There are only two characters in these series and so the whole story is shouldered on the strength and conviction of these two young men. Mon and Oak are the powerhouse couple in BL today but are not recognized as so. Just brilliant acting.

In the end, it was good:)

Many viewers are giving negative comments, some dropped it early on… for me the initial first few episodes were cute. I particularly liked Do Hae Yi. Her character was very refreshing. She’s the type to speak honestly and openly; she’s bubbly and ecstatic , and just very cheery :):)

I put this drama on hold for a bit around the 5th episode. Yes.. the plot line was all over the place. It included some psychopath trying to hurt a member of the squad; so there were some “scary” moments. Uhmmm this didn’t quite fit into the overall vibe of the drama. I came back to it after a few weeks and the pace got better then. Just needed a break I guess. Then there were the mother elements- one got divorced, the other got cancer. So a lot of crying and learning to deal issues.

The love triangle- now many viewers had major issues with this. Personally, it didn’t really give me much angst haha. Meaning to say it didn’t bother me that much. The first kiss with 2ML I felt was not good- he shouldn’t have taken advantage of a drunk woman, but then the vomiting on him was quite funny! Many viewers thought the ML was too good for the FL. I kinda agree- he seems tooooo perfect lol. Didn’t get jealous, was SO understanding and forgiving, and so magnanimous in being there for her despite her wanting to break up. He’s DA MAN!! Plus, I love Bae In Hyuk :)

All throughout the drama, I couldn’t help but wonder about the cheer moves and the costume. Some viewers responded to my comment and said that this is how it’s like in SK.. unlike the American cheer leading. So I just found that quite strange.

It’s a no fluff drama, don’t really have to think hard to understand the plots ;);) and it’s not a binge-watch drama either. Oh, I skipped most of the “older couple” scenes. Too meh to watch haha. It’s a uni drama, just don’t expect too much and you’ll be fine.

A fairly layback and typical revenge drama.

Let's face it. This series is entertaining and contains all the elements for an audience to enjoy, namely friendships, love, suspense and mystery, with a little violence and action.

It is the ideal recipe to attract us as consumer but it is not innovative.

It's the typical kind of series that tells about revenge, or rather tells about a person's search for the murderer of a family member. Here, the setting is school, so nothing new either. I mean we have a lot of series, which have become a trend where a murder happens at school and the students have to find the killer among their classmates, knowing that they all have secrets.

Here, however I find that some characters were lacking, whether of overall presence, or secrets or even real revenge. Like, "Revenge of Others" is actually just one revenge.
I found that there was a more accentuated aspect of violence, like students who wouldn't hesitate to torture or badly hurt another student, even the idea of death didn't seem to be really taboo.
On the other hand, our female lead, Ok Chan Mi, seemed somewhat very naive and impulsive. She seemed to suspect people purely on speculation and act as if they were facts, when there was no proof.
I like that they incorporated the idea that Ok Chan Mi's twin brother was not such a good guy.

The last two episodes felt lacking, it's really hard to have series with satisfying endings.

In the end, it's entertaining but not groundbreaking, it's a typical series in its genre that will appeal to many people without bringing anything fundamentally new.

So, good production, acting, dark tones, but yeah, typical.
