as expected from a nam goong min drama

9/10, i was actually contemplating to give it 8 but i feel like i'm betraying nam goong min's acting HAHAHHA

i love the concept, i think it was very new and refreshing. i especially love nam goong min's acting, too (is it even a surprise lol). Jung Woo and Hye Won's chemistry (i know this isnt romance but i cant stop myself) is EVERYTHING. i didnt expect for it to click on me that much, like i was literally screaming when they have moments together, no matter few are them. damn.

the other characters are just ok. tho i think it was one of the downside of the drama for me. since this is plot-driven, the other characters weren't focused that much. they did well with jung woo and hye won's character, but it was such a let down that the other kids werent given the same backstory as them. i was really disappointed with jamie's character. i was expecting more from her as the second child, but there's just nothing special with her. even her deduction skill wasnt much for someone who's a former FBI agent. the third child was good at first, but towards the end i feel like he was just abandoned — as well as the fourth one. i just hoped that they tried to give more focus too on the other characters other than Hye Won and Jung Woo.

that being said, the plot is amazing. the concept of immortality and the likes is great. there are pretty questionable parts that i think managed to be overlooked at because of the fantasy tag. the mix of science fiction and fantasy is just good for me. there are some unneccessary parts (product placements i'm looking at you) but it didnt really affected my enjoyment. it was very decent thriller, scifi and fantasy. and since nam goong min is here, i'm sure you wont regret it.

Don't waste your time on a series of Clichés drama

It started with an amazing first two episodes that had so much potential then went down hill after that ,,,, I waited for good bromance and was very disappointed ,,, I waited for good romance and it became all about repeated overused Clichés
I waited for good crime story and it was really draggy boring with no exciting or thrilling element
I waited for good Police academy life story and it became a very bad commercial about police university with everything rosy and lovely so sweet to be believable
I'm so angry at my self for continue to hope and every episode is a big disappointment
truly you will waste your time watching this very cheesy drama

Korean Hunger Games which reflect today society

Watch this series due to the hype. Overall it's good to watch, even though for me I already can guess the "bad" guy earlier.
Episode 1 is quite boring with slow pace and the introduction of characters, etc. Afterwards the pace is quite ok.
But actually for this type of genre the suspense is not really there, not something that make you glued to the screen, maybe because it's similar to hunger game, so the surprise elements is not really there. Sometimes it's just too "lucky" and hard to believe, like how easy for a policeman to sneak in, can survive hiding for few days (no foods and drinks?) and the main role always win easily, especially when he licked the sugar candy and during first game when he about to fall.
The good thing about this Korean version is the moral of the story or maybe the background story on why people are easily blinded by money, and the lost of morality in our society which is kinda true... In our current society, people tend to be selfish and don't care of others, will use any means to reach their own goal.
Acting wise, thumbs up to all the actors and actresses !
Overall, this series is still worth watching, but not up to the hype. And be prepare of some bloody scene for those with not so strong heart to see blood

I have lost count as to how many times I have binge watched this drama

I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to for this drama even though there are tons of reviews out there. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching, and binge watching this drama over and over again.

The story is good, the characters are freaking precious and their bond is something that's even more precious. I love Pete and Kao so freaking much. Thier chemistry is no joke. This is honestly my favourite drama and they are my fav ship right now. I fell in love with them and I even fell for the side couple Sun and Mork.

And the cool gang, especially June, I love him so much. There hasn't been a single scene with him where I haven't laughed. Sandee and Thada were equally likable.

I have read a tons of reviews on this drama and some people voiced out that Pete's possessiveness is toxic but honestly I enjoyed seeing him get possessive and protective over his boyfriend. On top of that, Pete is someone whose confession started from "I am possessive of you". So I couldn't expect any less honestly. His possessiveness defines him.

Talking about Kao, damn how can someone be so adorable. Kao is independent, intelligent and very caring. He doesn't voice it out much but he really loves Pete a lot and I love him so freaking much. All hearts to this cute polar bear.

Okay it's a messy review. I don't even know if this can be called a review. Anyway I recommend this drama. It's really really worth watching.

Friendship and relationship are equally important!!!

This drama was a descent drama. Both friendship and relationship can be managed properly.. This message was beautifully conveyed in the drama. Mistakes will be done by everybody but reflecting upon it and correcting yourself is very much important. Speak out and clear the misunderstanding then and there rather than hating the person not knowing why they did so ...... The ost were very good. Together everything can be achieved. Somewhere I felt something was missing, not all character's fast was shown so I had question mark at some times. It would have been even better if a glimpse were shown. Overall a good drama.

Deceptively comical on serious dark theme

At the fringe of society. Forgotten. Uncared for. Alone. Depressed. Hopeless

This is a societal theme that is very real, seldom addressed and rarely depicted in drama. Often cause its a theme that can be suffocating to watch. But here comes a director and script taking it on from a totally unexpected angle. From the opening theme to the nonchalant narration as well as inner monologues comes a dark comedy of two individuals who are "lucky".

When Mi Chong meets Zhi Liao who was fated to disrupt his 'plans', he found an unexpected will to live. While Zhi Liao finally found a sliver of warmth that she she hadnt had since she left home.

The storytelling lulls you into a sense of languid. Its only by mid of ep7 when it suddenly picks up. And for the leads it is good there found and have each other. No man is an island. And together they have a hopeful future.

Highlight is not just the interesting direction but also the impressive acting from the leads especialy Vivienne. While Leon Leong has notched his best work thus far.

Be warn though depressive themes of suicide attempts and references to sexual assault.

Well what to say. This drama is driven by characters and amazing chemistry between FL and ML. I really loved comedy in this and all secondary characters were nice to watch.
Things I liked:
- FL and ML and fluffy moments between them
- Relationship between FL´s father and her
- Comedy scenes with her power

What I didn´t like:
- Overly dramatic and draggy last 1/3 of story
- Her mother
- How stupid they were acting, for example FL´s friend, so u was attacked and almost kiddnaped a u go again alone in the night? And that scene with sniper rifle? What if he was aiming for her head? And I am not talking about other illogical things. I know it´s normal in korean dramas but in this it was too much.

So overall this is good example that even best actors can´t save hopeless drama.

Loved It

This drama was such a fun watch, didn't have much expectations started to watch for Min Young as I had loved her character and acting in the drama "her private life". Some of the dialogues were very funny...this is my first Park Seo Joon drama and he absolutely nailed the character so did Park Min Young...I liked the story, as it had no unnecessary drama's, fights and misunderstandings, matters and issues got resolved swiftly ...it was kind of real...how a couple in love would try & resolve issues... I liked the fact that story revolved around the main two leads (no second leads), although a brother was introduced his role was kind of rushed, which I guess was required for the plot. There were some sweet & hot kissing scenes, the main couple had lot of chemistry - of course it had a happy ending! Would love to see them together in another drama.

Sometimes Ok is good enough.

I was really curious about this drama after seeing that, with only 8 episodes, it has such mixed reviews. I avoided reading many of them to avoid spoilers, and I will now attempt my review without spoilers on what I think fuels such love/hate for this drama. When it comes to the actual plot I would rate this drama as completely awful, but the theme and performances made me not want to stop watching it. I was pretty entertained the entire time I watched even when the story was at its most nonsensical. Kdrama often defies reality and logic but this drama throws logic away with reckless abandon. I thought most of the criticism would be because of the adult subject matter but the problem is the story itself. It also depends on what you're looking for how much you will love or hate this drama. If you are in the mood for an actual comedy, you will probably not like this drama much. Sure it starts off as if it will be funny, but unless you find men crying hilarious, you will be very disappointed. If you like dramas that are realistic you will probably quickly lose your patience with this drama too. If you want to emotionally bond with an empathetic lead, or are a big Yoon Shi Yoon fan, you will likely really love this drama. I fell somewhere in the middle... which explains my rating.

Yoon Shi Yoon plays Do Yong Shik, a depressed man who can't get ahead in life the way everyone expected him to. He is the kind of character you want to hug through the screen, and that's because Shi Yoon plays him so well, down to his puppy dog eyes and perpetually hunched shoulders. Do Yong Shik also has a problem with erectile dysfunction which is what's behind the "punny" drama title. With a lesser actor, there is no way I would have kept watching. My only problem with his performance is not his fault, It's falsely advertised this as a romcom, and although there are silly moments that are comedic the majority of the episodes involve him either crying or being on the verge of tears. Quickly it turns into a borderline melodrama and that made me sometimes cringe at what was happening to him more than care.

He is matched with Ahn Hee Yeon as Lee Ru Da, and they do have great chemistry, but she plays one of the most unlikeable female romantic leads I've ever seen in a KDrama. She plays the part of the confident but not so ethical urologist pretty well, but unlike the male lead, I just couldn't empathize with her. I know unethical doctors are a common Kdramaland trope but she and Park Ki Woong as Do Ji Hyu were so morally bankrupt as doctors that it distracted me from the love story too much. I also know her overconfidence, bluntness, and pushiness were meant to be a kind of opposites attract thing, but I wish they gave her more depth. Can it still be a good romance drama if you hate the idea of the main couple? I just couldn't root for them even though many of their scenes together were what kept me watching. Part of me was even secretly shipping Kim Seol Jin as Jennifer being the FL instead. Jennifer is the real MVP of this drama, hands down my favorite, and the only voice of reason.

Would I watch this again? Surprisingly, maybe. I decided to watch this while impatiently waiting for on-air dramas to air their next episodes and it's the perfect quick binge length for that. Yes, the story is disappointing but the overall theme of self-acceptance makes up for it, so maybe with lowered expectations, I would like this drama more than I did at first. I did like the ending and its message, but not enough to completely forgive some things like Do Ji Hyu's hair and all the terrible wigs involved in this drama. I also wish they found some real teens for the flashback scenes because they looked pretty silly pretending to be so young. They also could have fleshed out the past a whole lot more.

Also, the super literal lyrics in the songs were killing me! Lol!

Overall this drama is like a song with good music but terrible lyrics that you still find yourself wanting to dance to. It takes a pretty immature and silly look at some serious and mature subjects, but if you look past the lack of character development and immorality of all the doctors, the root is the story of an underdog and his unconventional journey to confidence and self-acceptance, with some romantic chemistry as a bonus. This drama is quickly made ramen you decide to eat instead of a full meal. It felt like a one-night stand that I didn't regret but would have dropped for sure if it was any longer. Still, like another theme in this drama, I can appreciate it just for what it is. Every drama can't be amazing, and sometimes mediocre is enough entertainment for the moment. That was this drama for me.

Now I really want some ramen.

Contrary to popular opinion

Yep I dropped it. Why? Well, it became kind of dull, same ol same ol concept of greed, betrayal, lies and murder.

The concept of playing games for money, being manipulated by a bunch of rich dudes with nothing better to do is nothing new. Sort of like a rich man’s sport. Some reviewers found the background stories of each character interesting, but I was just skipping through to get to the good stuff :)

I liked the Tug Of War game, at least it had a good strategy and concept instead of the normal thinking of Big and Strong is better. The deaths, killing and piles of bodies were just a bit too disturbing for me. Just a tad lol.

At least it’s not your typical Kdrama with crying and slapstick humour. :) Quite similar to Hunger Games if you can stomach it.

Great blend of humour, melodrama and romance

It’s funny, yes the funny parts are super funny, lol kind of funny. The melodrama is cry buckets with lots and lots of tissue. The romance is oh so sweet.

I loved almost every part of this drama. First of all, both FL and SFL are super pretty, and their style and wardrobe attire is TO DIE FOR. Don’t get me started on their shoes!!! Loved loved loved the fashion on this set. I’m very glad to see that the women are not the poor pitiful kind, but successful in their own rights.

It’s a Seo Hyun Jin drama, so you can expect lots of over-the-top whining and crying. I did cry at quite a few scenes, because it was either very sad or heart-breaking. The romance and chemistry between both leads were great, and some good kissing scenes :) I didn’t quite care for the secondary love story between Eun Ho and Kang Sara- in fact I skipped their scenes towards the last few episodes. That’s why my overall dropped to a 8.5. It was kind of dull and no real progress or chemistry

The music background really suited the scenes- whether it was funny, or a In-Your-Face scene ;);) I also like the OST , the songs were well suited and lovely.

All in all, highly recommended to watch. Produced in 2018, but I only watched it now in 2021. No regrets:)

I liked the story - F4 (Four super intelligent, super handsome and rich exclusive group at Uni), in comes the middle class innocent girl Jan Di. There was so much angst between the lead pair (Jan di & Joon Pyo), its obvious that Joon Pyo was kinda obsessed with Jan Di, to extent of becoming mean, although he was super sweet too..... initially Jan Di had absolutely no feelings for Joon Pyo...throughout the series one would wonder whether who she will end up with Joon Pyo or Ji Hoo…. there were instances I wished that Jan Di would end up with Ji Hoo. He was one of the best ever K drama characters, calm, soft spoken.....standing by and supporting Jan Di all through the relationship hardships she faced....it was so obvious that he loved Jan Di deeply, & he let her go for Joon Pyo..Honestly one cannot help but fall in love with Ji Hoo .....I wished the other leads stories were more well developed. The ending again was rushed - like many other K drama's towards the end they have to find a way to separate the lead pair...in this case it is to pursue a career (which is great) - it was a happy ending, but would have been perfect if a wedding and some babies were shown between the Jan Di & Joon Pyo (after all the angst).

Writing wasn't as strong as S1, but this season we still full of surprises. This time all the sins of the people at Hera Palace came back full circle and no one was spared.
For one, SSR was not dead and was impersonating NAG to stay alive so she could complete her revenge plan of bringing JDT down. While some people found it annoying that she was killed off only to be brought back to life, I was relieved that SSR was still alive. She was one of the only few characters I had respect for and could root for.
Logan Lee was ok this time around. He wasn't nearly as strong as he was in S1 but still good. He kinda got weird towards the end tho. It feels like his feelings for SSR came out of nowhere. I prefer them as revenge partners, not lovers.
HSJ has had zero character development. It's like she hits rock bottom, or further rock bottom, then she gets on her knees and begs for help, but as soon as she gets dealt a damning card she abandons the act and goes back to her old ways. Maybe the cycle will break in S3. As for her relationship with HEB and her husband, things aren't good at all. HEB hates her and she only wants her husband back when things are going south for her. It's clear atp she never actually loved her ex. She only married him because she wanted to make OYH miserable. Also stealing HYC away would subside her insecurities for a bit, that is until she found out that HYC never got over OYH. But perhaps she always knew HYC never really loved her. She probably thought she won in the end because she was the one with the ring.
OYH was just meh this season. I wanted to root for her but after a certain point she just got on my nerves. I get that shes grieving because she thought her daughter was dead, but to just kill yourself before the revenge plan was completed? She lost her mind for a good few episodes. One she found out Rona was alive she somewhat came back to her senses. It is still a mystery as to whether or not OYH actually killed MSA bit given the way things played out I don't think she did that. I strongly believe JDT was behind that death but we'll have to see in S3.
HYC was so likable in S1 but this season made me lose my respect for him. He betrayed OYH so many times it's not even funny. But what sets him apart from the others at HP is that he is the only one besides OYH that is self aware and has somewhat shown remorse for his actions over the course of the show. When he confessed in the courtroom I almost gained my respect back for him but he's going to need a bigger arc than that for me to completely forgive him for his treachery. However with the biggest conflict (regarding the penthouse residents getting what they deserve) solved, how much longer will this show run? 9/10.

One of the Best K- Drama's

I thoroughly enjoyed this drama - I think its one of the best K drama's I have watched.. The main cast (Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin) all did a brilliant job...although its a Cinderalla type (rich boy-poor girl story) I loved the story except for the ending which was kinda rushed, and some characters was not developed. Don't get me wrong it had a happy ending for the Male & Female Lead...but wouldnt have been bad if the wedding was shown.. there were some very fun, romantic scenes & comedic scenes.
