Good Enough

Korean Series SF8 is an ambitious anthology of sci fi stories. Others are better constructed, fitting well into the short length of an hour, others had compelling stories or characters or both, and others didn't do so well. Nevertheless, all of them had interesting themes, great performances and, best of all, beautiful CGI that created the perfect futuristic atmosphere.

Blink had the perfect pace and, thus, the story was well developed and explored not only the relationship between the two main characters but the criminal case as well. The two main actors did also a great job with their action scenes, which were plenty. This one actually blended smoothly many plotlines and elements, without overburdening the main story.

Baby it's over outside was one of those that had interesting characters and a kind of nostalgic feeling to it. Bittersweet and kind of romantic, the story didn't have the best pacing, but it was interesting and had the perfect mood for it. The two main characters had chemistry as well.

Good Enough

The main problem with the Korean Drama 'Search' is that it took up a lot of themes and storylines and had so little time to develop them.

The whole illness-zombie-animal-fy was not well explained, served only as a prompt for the search to start and sometimes it was left out of the story, in order for the latter to focus on the mystery. That said, the mystery case was pretty interesting and the drama had the thriller factor on full mode, which aided a lot. Another plus was the lack of romance, which would have shifted the mood of the drama to another, more cliche, level. Unfortunately, the family drama needed, too, more time to be developed, as did the characters, who were only introduced rushly to be thrown right into the action, thus, preventing the viewer from creating bonds with them, caring for them and actually feel the right emotions in the end.

Nevertheless, the performances, the setting, even the fantasy part, were all great, well performed and executed.

So, overall, 7 out of 10.

Squidward has more appeal ...

Another flop from Netflix.

Do they change writers halfway on projects?

Or maybe they just toss storylines up in the air and go with which one hits the floor first.

It seems the expectations for a good watch are falling lower and lower.

Society is now entertained by the glibbest drivel.

This was way overhyped and had more holes than a slice of swiss cheese.

Maybe I am just too critical and think too much, but most of this was unrealistic.

Too many moments of cringe based off of the lack of simple logic not being used.

And that's putting it kindly.

We're continually being mocked by the elite, why subject ourselves to more mindless tv based on this concept?

Would I rewatch this? Yea I probably would.

Just a disclaimer, this review is based on my views through focusing from episode 1 to 20+ But the rest would be skimmed through. Regardless, I think more or less, this might be worth a read.

The female leads character at first kind annoyed me however I admired her alot. At first people would think she’s narcissistic and arrogant but she has a big soft heart for the people that she loves. Plus the fact that she’s skilled in kicking butt, sassy and strong these are definitely a deal breaker.

The fact that she became general and the first female prime minister like ??. Also the love of her family and the love she has for them is adorable and very heartwarming.

Family, romance, mystery, betrayal and love. These keywords stands out for me the most. The plot can be complicated for some, I kinda had to focused on it since it is 40 episodes the fact that the story might be a little difficult to understand is not ideal. Because for those with short attention span such as I would be very easy to lose interest and either move on or fast forward which is wat i did.

Regardless, the story from a glimpse of it and a little of what I learnt. Is well though through and a good story. But maybe making a little easier to understand and manageable being that it has a a lot of episodes.

The sacrifice and protection of the leads because of their love for each other is of course very sweet and make you aww and pull at their little heart strings.

But I am disappointed at the lack of passion and chemistry once passionate scenes are enacted. The kisses are like stamps instead of a kiss. The chemistry and passion isn’t quite there as I hoped that would go well with the love they portrayed in the story.

So I likely would rewatch it, more in detailed and focused. Not now, but later. Got to get over the Lim minor disappointment first.

the mafia's daughter....

●Woah just by mafia word I expected some action-packed drama, but this one was a romantic comedy in every moment. The mafia background is carried solely by Brian through his tough actions. But one thing I got confused if he is mafia shouldn't people/students be afraid of him, how come he is a charmer. Pursuing the girl passionately although she doesn't love you is done nicely, but sometimes felt like a pushover. Also, Li-Tang was annoying, he was just there to create trouble, as a saying goes “you don’t the value of something until it is lost”
Mantou's relationship with her servant was sweet, the way she orders him to do stupid jobs. The series might be U-Prince but for me, Mantou stole the show.
The only thing I didn’t like was too much product placement and a lot of bits of other supporting characters, I wished it had more of the lead's romance. The kisses and chemistry of the leads were amazing.

●Mook is a charmer, perfectly portrayed the character of dumb yet kind-hearted Mantou. Although she is playing stupid, she does it so adorably like a child whom you cannot ignore. Mook shines out in whatever role she plays.
●March as Brian was nice, riding a bike covering his muscular body with the black leather jacket. His comic timing and persistence for the girl he likes is amazing because we all see that she is stupid.

●The music is playful and catchy.
●I would rewatch this once again for the stupidity of FL which is cute.

Best idea for series promotion ever

When the cast is what initially attracted you to a series, having said cast react to the episodes is probably the most ideal concept imaginable. Praise be to the person who came up with this! I enjoy watching these reactions almost as much as I enjoy the actual series. Such fun and you get insights into the making of the show, the cast and the characters that you wouldn’t otherwise get. It’s wonderful!

I love seeing how these guys perceive their own work as a finished product and seem to enjoy and become immersed in it as a viewer. It’s cute when First gets all embarrassed about his love scenes and how they all good naturedly tease each other. They are very entertaining, talented and oh so cute!

I’m so impressed!

I started watching this for entertainment and to enjoy the cuteness of such an attractive cast. However, I’m more and more impressed by this series. I find it so much better in terms of writing, acting, effects, music, and characterization than any other asian BL drama that I’ve ever watched.

I’d even say it’s rather progressive without being on the nose. Fiat is a (previously) promiscuous character and, while this causes issues in the series, him pursuing Leo and being open about what he wants is not shown in a negative light. I love that. He is who he is as far as sexuality goes and his growth as a character is more about learning to trust and communicate and become more mature. It’s really great.

Leo is already as close to perfect as you can get so I’m not sure how much room there is for growth. I’d say his singular flaw is that he takes not being allowed to be the perfect boyfriend in the face of his partner’s emotional turmoil personally. Like, let’s not make this about you! But this kind of thing does make the character feel more real. Not entirely perfect after all but close. And I think I’m in love with Ja. What a beautiful man and he plays the best boyfriend in history so well. I’m just praying (uselessly) that Leo doesn’t get hurt by the end of this series. Obviously, he will, but so far Leo and Fiat’s relationship is astonishingly healthy. It’s supportive and these two actually communicate about all kinds of things from their worries to their sex life. Very refreshing! I especially love Leo letting Fiat handle himself when Fiat expresses that he can, and by Fiat handling things beautifully. It’s not always about swooping in to save your partner but about trusting in his capabilities as well. The chemistry is real and the intimate scenes are A++.

I even love the side couple and find all characters at least somewhat interesting. That’s quite rare. Usually there’s at least one character or storyline I’m not into. Not with this series.

I’m also taken with how at least some notable antagonists, while perhaps super creepy and abusive (which is a feat in good writing all on its own), were not entirely demonized. Nuance in writing is great!

The acting is also on point. I’ve found Fiat’s crying a bit over dramatic before but it was convincing in the latest episode. And what a punch in the feels with Leon and Pob. This is not just entertaining, cute and sexy anymore. I was getting choked up in the latest episode. ? Can’t wait for the finale but I don’t want it to end!

I will start with categories....
The music was Ok not memorable although there were times when the music reminded me of another shows OST so that confused me, I haven't felt the need to download or listen to the OST
The story was typical Chinese romance with some cultivation. Nothing really interesting or new. So good if you like that sort of show with silly female deciding between 2 male leads and always needing to be saved. I will say that is not my favorite thing and I really cannot stand the silly female leads and I feel like she was silly and annoying like 90% of the show.
Acting well lets say there was one really good actor and the rest were just OK. the Li Hing Yi portrayal of Shangguan Qiu Yue was outstanding and why I gave the acting higher marks. Rosy Zhao played Chun Hua the same as her other acting parts so nothing new just a stupid overly sweet girl.
What I liked and didn't like, since there was not a lot of really good things about the drama was the character of Shangguan Qiu Yue. He was not perfect and not bad or good just really trying to live in a world of hypocrites. He was fascinating to watch. I personally did not feel the chemistry between him and the FL lead, but others did. I really liked Fu Lou and You Si. In fact they were my favorite couple and the only time the show even made me a little sad. I would have rather they be the main story! I also liked 2 of the people hanging with the second male lead, Qin Liu Feng was fun and made the boring and too long scenes the them at least something to watch. I also really liked Feng Cai Cai, she showed the most growth and depth of any of the characters other than the male lead. I really did not understand why the character of Leng Ning was there or her purpose other than Qin Liu Feng had a crush on her and she dressed like a man carrying a sword, but then never did ANYTHING the entire time, plus there was nothing to like about her. As for Xiao Bai the second male lead. He didn't bother me as much as other people. He played the typical stoic hero who cannot show his feelings, but I thought the actor was fine since that is the character. I've seen much worse with the stoic person being portrayed.

Which brings me to female lead Chun Hua who was basically silly borderline stupid the entire time. I would rather Shangguan Qiu Yue end up with Xiao Bai! I find it interesting that even strong females are portrayed as needing to be saved by a man (Love and Redemption, Miss Truth) or just plan silly and annoying (Ashes of Love, Flames Daughter, etc, etc,) Plus every "romance" has silly misunderstandings and switching back and forth, Just one of the things that annoy me. I like shows almost based on the least annoying female character.

Rewatch not for me but if you do not mind the type of female character and the typical triangle then this is the drama for you. If you are looking for a strong and intelligent female lead and an interesting story, then skip this and watch something else.

~The best c-drama of 2021~ (in my opinion)

I just finished this drama minutes ago. My feelings are running high and I can not even put into words how this drama affected me. Before going into this, I will say this is MY ideal drama, so if you don’t like xianxia or emotional god dramas, then this might not be for you. But if you do, then I can almost guarantee that you will adore this drama.

STORY: I will not go over the storyline, but rather highlight what makes it amazing. We start with a silly girl with virtually no power, but with a strong title. This is so unique and something that I have never seen before. The development for every character is outstanding and leaves you thinking. The plot is sometimes complicated if you are new to these types of dramas, but never too complicated to the point that I had to look it up. This means that it is the perfect balance and a perfect storyline.

ACTING: The acting left nothing to be desired. Every actor played their role perfectly, especially Xu Kai. Even the evil empress had impeccable acting, which almost makes you think you are in the real show.

MUSIC/OST: I appreciate OST a lot, especially in these types of dramas. This OST was absolutely mind blowing. Every time it plays it makes me tear up. At the last episode, I could not stand to know it was the last time it would play in the show.

OVERALL: This drama really makes you feel something, and if you want a drama that is absolutely groundbreaking, this is for you.

Drama with two different timelines

This is the first time i watch the 2 season drama with different timeline. Usually just people from modern time travel to ancient time or vice versa, not completly 2 different timelines.

Bai lu in here so gracefully, we can really sense her as noble lady. But I a little bit not accustomed to bai lu & allen ren voice in here, so different with their usual / real voice.

My heart really2 hurt to see the love story between Zhou Sheng Chen (SC) & Cui Shi Yi (SY). We know for sure they love each other. But because the stubbornness of SC they can't be together. Ironically i just remember what Lu Si Cheng from Falling Into Your Smile said when he confess his feeling, the main thing is what the use of principle if that make him lose the girl that he love.

This is the first time i really relucant to see the ending because of the sadness & heart broken scene, & this is also the first time we know for sure the ending will gonna be heart broken scene. That's why i have to reduce the point here :(. But fortunatelly they promise us a happy ending in the second season, forever & ever (F&E) & really2 thankfully we don't need to wait for F&E to be air & for us to watch.

Bai lu & Aleen ren really do a very good job here. We can really feel their feeling. We happy & sad & heart broken together with them. Can't wait to watch F&E :)

So cute

This was short, sweet and really warm. I’ve watched so many dramas that was fluffed with crazy things but this was a light hearted delight. No extreme misunderstandings. No weird triangles, events or crazy breakups.

I loved, loved, loved the communication between the couple. It was clear, direct, honest and productive. The series had a someone youthful feel to it but the relationship itself felt very mature.

I highly recommend this if your looking for a short, sweet and cute romance.

Good Enough

Japanese Drama 'Promise Cinderella' is a, surprisingly, enjoyable drama.

Even though the prospect of a love story with an age gap that included an underaged partner is offputting for me and I tend to not pick those dramas up, this one kind of makes it works and, in the end, their personalities, chemistry, and story create the perfect environment for the viewer to root for them and for the conclusion to come more naturally. The pace of the love story was another factor working in its favor, as it gave the time for the relationship to grow and develop naturally and not right from the start. However, the love triangle was not that successful, though it gave the opportunity for the girl to open up about who she really is and what she has been through.

Another enjoyable element was the workplace. The setting was brilliant and the small cases were a nice touch to make the main story more than a basic rom com. Unfortunately, that can't be said about the family drama that needed more scenes to be properly presented.

So, overall, 7 out of 10.

Not Good Enough

Thai Drama 'Oh My Boss' had all the elements to create a swoon-worthy love story, alas, it didn't use them.

The main problem is the relationship itself. The girl is a delight to watch, as she is not only entertaining, she also does a great job with her performance. However, her partner was too forceful right from the start and he wanted to look authoritative but failed to do so. His past needed more time to be properly explained, to give the opportunity to the viewers to connect with him better and look at him more as a human than the 'Boss'. Unfortunately, everything was rushly explained. The whole love story was, in fact, based on the principle of a few happy scenes, plenty of crying ones, usually from the girl's side. The side characters, finally, were only there to fill in the gaps and talk to the leads, and they had no other porpuse nor story to back up.

So, overall 3.5 out of 10.
