To polish a turd

They tried to sprinkle in some fake scripted bland romance in the beginning but they forgot to add the chemistry to the mix and develop it gradually, so it ended up being too delayed to care about. The same thing can be said about the mystery once it dwindled, like it lost its mojo in a heartbeat. The trend continued until the end without ever recovering. To put it simply, the story was dead on arrival from all angles and salvaging it was near impossible. As if that wasn't enough, we had to endure it for 18 episodes. Which leaves us with the saddest part, the cast, specifically the leads. What a fine collection of disappointing soulless performances. I guess FL was kinda passable to a certain degree but the other trio boys were a lost cause.

Interesting premise but...

I felt like the premise was really interesting and there was a lot of potential for this to become a really thrilling mystery, but it suffers from something that many mid-2010s dramas do, which is that the romance and the attempts to smush the leads together hinders the show's ability to be darker.

The romantic set-up is a very common kdrama one: childhoods connected by tragedy. I'm fine with this, but the ML's story was just so much more interesting and the chemistry with his brother and the serial killer so much more intriguing that all his scenes with the FL felt just so "blah," as if they were going through the motions.

With that being said, the trio — Lee Hyun, Min, and Lee Jun Young — were absolutely the best part of the show. Their performances were very convincing, and there was a lot of tension in all their shared scenes, and I was also really excited to how the story would play out.

On the other hand, I think the individual cases were fine, but didn't really grab me; in fact, they were a little vague at times, or it just didn't that high stakes. It didn't really help that the FL felt very reactive throughout, never really planning or investigating anything until it was right under her nose, both when it came to individual cases and with the overarching plot.

Now, the ending really does leave a lot to be desired. I felt like they rushed through it (which a lot of kdramas fall victim to) and it focused on giving us unnecessary closure for the romance instead of for the more interesting thriller plot.

Very addictive

I really loved this drama and watched it really quickly. As always, Ji Chang Wook is a masterpiece, Bibi's character felt just like her but not like her at the same time, and Wi Ha Joon was great, too. I completely forgot he was meant to be the bad guy, to be honest.

The only thing I didn't like was the very last episode. I'll be honest, I didn't like the ending. There was one particular decision made that made me think "WHY??" but maybe some people understood why he did it better than me. I liked that the ending was realistic between Junmo and Euijung, though.

Overall, I'd recommend it! 👍🏻

BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH

Honestly? beautiful. This whole drama made my heart feel warm. Let me start by telling you that all of the relationships presents in this drama are extremely healthy. ALL. Both love and friendship ones. I loved every character. Honestly the way Kairi falls deeply in love with Sakura is beautiful. She fell first but he fell harder literally. The storyline is hilarious and sweet at the same time, you simply can’t stop smiling and giggling and laughing during all the scenes. Let me tell you: you may cry a little bit because there are so not soo funny scenes but it’s part of it. EVERY character is funny, EVERY, they are all so sweet. And the way no matter what Sakura never gives up on her dream and she keeps going and you can clearly see that she’s growing up and how everyone keeps encourages her is extremely sweet. This was my first japanese drama and what an amazing way to start. Loved it. Prepare yourself to love every minute of it. Also I need to talk about this because it made me feel extremely happy: when Kisugi tells Sakura how he feels he never once stopped being an amazing friend to Kairi, he keeps helping both of them specially Sakura and he never ince blamed Sakura for not loving in back. This is what i want to see in dramas, i hate seeing so many unhealthy people doing the most stupid things and this was sincerely beautiful. I miss all of them already, 10/10.

Dropped it after watching second episode

this is not related to 1st season
the main character is different Mun from dickless dimension
Mun moved on from his crush on HANA because his dick got chopped off while jerking off

and he become a cheap copy of Superman without dick.
he is so powerful that he moved on without any reason.
HANA is now like his sister, who stare at there sisters butt in season one, of that Mun isn't this mOOn

Most of Korean drama confuse sister and girlfriend because OPPA is used for both husband and brother
DO the don't know the difference between brother and boyfriend or they don't have a word for brother because to them both are same

Superficial but fluffy

Most hate this drama because yes Jade is exaggerative and over-the-top, but if you enjoy slapstick comedy and understand what it's like to feel overlooked or in the middle of it all, it's the show for you!

I genuinely enjoyed this drama unlike most because it was sweet, funny, and relatable in a lot of aspects. As someone who's been in the middle of all of my friends marriages (I'm almost the last single standing at this point) and in the middle of cousins and siblings, it's very easy to feel overlooked. You know you're family and friends love you, but to believe someone else (who in this story is extremely attractive ans friendly to everyone in the job) would actually like you over any of your friends kind of seems unbelievable in the moment. Jade is extremely oblivious and has some experience in the past that make things a little frustrating for most watchers when it's VERY obvious Mai likes him. But the main point of this story is of learning to accept yourself and accept love in your life even when it's hard.

The story is VERY superficial and definitely obvious for the very beginning. There are no crazy twists or surprises as it's very predictable. So if you're looking for a fluffy BL to pass time amd not looking for anything tok deep, I'd suggest trying it! TutorYim are adorable and I'd rewatch between other series!

Note: I do understand why people would get frustrated or bored, but this I definitely feel is better than all of the toxic BL's that I've seen this year even with its snail pace

first time viewers : should you watch this?

this kdrama is a personal favorite of mine. i've rewatched it over 2 times! although the plot is slow and dragged, it's very fun to watch, but it's not binge-worthy. i hate the love triangle in this drama though. i hate love triangles in any show or film, so it's just me.

since one of my favorite actors lee do-hyun and hwang in-yeop acted in this, this was the reason i watched it. i wasn't disappointed, and their acting was phenomenal! the actress kim ha-neul didn't do badly in this either, but some scenes were just hard to watch.

if you like shows or films that have to do with traveling back to the past, body-switching, and things related to that, this is the perfect show for you.

Beautiful message

It makes me think of Death’s game but this is way better. Sorry I shouldn’t compare dramas as I am strongly against it but it made me think of it… The concept a bit.

I will say I was bothered so much about the drama trying to be funny and some scenes that were odd. But in the end I understood why they are necessary.

Topics involved are deep and so closed to reality. It is disturbing how well they picture reality. And it is crescendo. The more you go the harder and deeper topics get. You need to “light up the mood” even if it doesn’t work out.

And that is also a beautiful message to our lives and problems. You need light over the darkness. You need people trying to make you laugh when you don’t want to or think you cannot anymore. You need ridiculous stuffs to the seriousness of the situation called life.

Finally can someone give LSH some lead role ? This guy has so much to show us and so much under his sleeves.

Falls so far behind the webtoon

As I always say… I am more a webtoon fan than a drama fan.

I commented on Hero class 1 saying the drama was better than the webtoon. Extremely good indeed.. But..Here it is not…

Idk about those who didn’t read it but as someone who devoured the webtoon and cried with the webtoon the drama falls so far behind. And if I can judge it this way is because they really tried to make it exactly like the webtoon without the sex and without the development of the lead male character and side characters.

I think there is a cast problem in a way with the lead characters… The female lead isn’t that cute she is more of a strong woman. I mean it literally and in terms of personality. Sin Hye Sun doesn’t convey well enough that strong character and will. The lead male is extremely fragile but to a point that you feel his fragility. Ahn Bo Hyun doesn’t convey it right. It is subjective maybe but I really am surprised from people who did read the webtoon and think otherwise. And I can’t agree with you if you say “this is the drama” well.. maybe you shouldn’t make it exactly like the webtoon then and have people not expecting the same thing..

But prolly people who didn’t read it liked this one a lot and I can understand them better.

I gave a really bad grade cause I think the grades are way too high objectively speaking.

there are no flaws! A MUST-WATCH FOR NEW BL FANS!

the plot of this story was carried out extremely well. the acting overall was phenomenal, and i could hit the replay button on the kiss scene in ep. 7 so many times! the fact it was the actors who suggested the kiss scene makes it even better. their on-screen chemistry was intense.

if you're a person who recently got into BL, this is the perfect drama for you to watch. additionally, if you're a person who likes the genre hate to love and dramas that focus on college life, this is just for you!

legendary

Oh boy. You know when a drama is one of the greatest of all time when it sticks in people’s minds no matter how many flaws it has. When I say greatest it is not like “great” but more like “a legend” like… people will remember it.

Does it mean it is not good ? I personally liked it a lot. I personally liked those old fashioned dramas because they rely more on performances than anything else. Cgi aren’t great, plot isn’t flawless, artistically speaking it is far from nowadays series’ quality in every aspect… But performances are always on point. No wonder why we remember more those actors’ names and praise them.

I think the moment of “I can seduce you in less than 10 secs” (of 5?? I can’t remember) is one of the most memorable scene of all korean series production. And it personally was at this very moment that I found myself also convinced of this series. (sorry for short spoiler)

A verry addictive series with a great OTP

PLOT: FL, adopted daughter of a “good” family, mistreated by her in-laws and her adoptive family, discovers that her husband has always been in love with her sister. She has a fatal car accident and finds herself transported a year earlier, planning her wedding. She decides to change her life and take revenge on her family by marrying the ML, a young and handsome CEO, coveted by her sister. With the help of her husband, she will regain control of her life and thwart the traps of the villains.

PROS:
+ super addictive series, with no downtime and constant suspense.
+ an intense CL, where the 2 leads (Sung Hoon & Jung Yoo Min) display their incredible talent. The chemistry is natural and they are both so cute (♡´౪`♡)
+ All the actors are very good: we HATE the villains +++ and the ML family (or almost) is very endearing.
+ the story is smart, coherent, credible. The characters' development is consistent until the end.
+ Very satisfying happy ending.

CONS:
- Sung Hoon's extra wide pants (*,,ºัωºั,,)

=> A MUST-SEE that I will happily watch again, not for the suspense (since I have already seen it) but for the OTP.
************************************************************************************

CONS :
- les pantalons extra larges de Sung Hoon (*,,ºัωºั,,)

=> Un MUST TO SEE que je regarderai à nouveau volontiers, pas pour le suspense (puisque je l'ai déjà vu) mais pour les OTP.

starts getting really good at ep3

I think this is one of the only series where I was disappointed after watching the first episode, because it didn’t reach my expectations. But, then as the episodes went by, it got better and better and in the end I really enjoyed the story and the actors performances. If you can get theough episode 1, and drop your negative feelings during episode 2, then from 3 and onwards it’s actually a really great story.

The story really hooked me, and struck a cord in me as I myself have been a Jade in the sense that I have been struggling with self-acceptance and self-confidence. The thourough stary telling of why Jade is who he is and how that has affected him till this day, makes him a very familiar character whom you have symphathy for. Mai is delightful and Tutor does an excellent job in making him communicative without saying much. Their chemistry was great and the acting top-notch. Their story hooked me and I became invested quite easily.

The side-couples are also great, however I would have liked more time spent on them, but I guess a show is in the works for them as well? Idk, but I’m invested in them as well.

Redemption?

I wish this series had just continued Jade's character from Bed Friend. In BF, Jade was cute, ditsy, sometimes over the top, but when he needed to be, he was serious and of course, the best friend Uea could have. Unfortunately, and I'm guessing that due to the negative impact BF had on some viewers due to it's triggering and very serious content, a decision was made to amp up Jade's character, to ridiculous levels, in an attempt to give us a more lighthearted and comedic series, but it didn't work. Most obvious was the volume at which he spoke, not only OTT loud to the point he spends most of the series yelling, (how the hell did Yim not lose his voice?), but it was downright painful to experience. It totally ruined the first 3 episodes for me. The best scenes were the serious ones, and of course the nsfw ones, which were just beautiful, and nothing less than what we've come to expect from DMD boys. I've had enough of grown ass men acting like 2 year olds, and we've had plenty in 2023 - I truly hope we've seen the last of that particular trope. I want to make it clear, and I say this all the time, that I will never, ever blame actors for their acting, or how they play their characters. What is released, is exactly what the people behind the cameras want us to see, especially the directors, screenwriters, and acting coaches. The behind the scenes videos show exactly how much these people are involved in telling the actors what they want, sometimes to the point that they are extremely 'hands on' when showing them... I've seen bts videos where acting coaches, in particular, and directors are constantly touching the actors, and are so close to them, that I get extremely uncomfortable seeing it. Had Jade been allowed to continue as he was portrayed in BF, it would still have shown us his cute, clueless, childish, and ditsy side, without being so cringeworthy. It was an automatic -2 stars for Jade's OTT character, and -2 for the constant yelling.
Yim played his sad/serious scenes beautifully, and he really tugged at my heartstrings - it's just a shame that the character generated so much secondhand embarrassment throughout the series. Tutor was perfect, as usual, as were King and Uea. I love Pete, who is such a role model as the perfect LGBTQI+ parent - I love everything he does. Not having seen Ngern for so long, I was so happy to see him playing Man, and have to say that he just seems to get more handsome with time. I'd love to see him in a lead role again. I would have liked to have seen more development of Gus and Tong's story, and a little more of Gun too.
The series clawed back 2 points for the long-awaited nsfw scenes. First with TongGus, though it felt that just as it started to get serious, the scene was cut off, which was disappointing. It always amazes me after the first kiss, the top's shirt is off and they're ready to get down to business, but just how often his partner still has his shirt on as the scene ends. (Not just this series.)
MaiJade's nsfw scenes were beautifully acted, as I said before, and well worth the wait. Another point was gained back simply because, when it counted, Jade and Mai were wearing nice underwear, instead of the stupid boxers we see all the time. I guess they tend to have actors wear boxers... just in case, but absolutely hate them! I've seen a couple of series now where the dreaded boxers have been replaced by fitted underwear, and I have to say, it looks so much better - I don't even understand how Thai actors can put on their jeans, or pants and feel comfortable with 2 layers of underwear on, and most especially those awful boxers!
I just have to add that the biggest bugbear I personally have with Thai series - any series, is the lack of proper continuity. It's not even as if I deliberately look for mistakes - they're usually glaringly obvious, like Uea wearing white boots in one scene, and black ones in the continuing scene - BF was pretty bad for lack of continuity too. I understand that scenes are shot out of sequence, but honestly, doesn't anyone ever check the rushes? Like Pavel's neck tattoo in 2Moons2, which he was having removed in real life - it was dark in one scene, then much paler in the next, and then back to dark again... and it's was not even as if you could miss it, when it was right in shot. The same with Boy For Rent, where a lead actress's hair changed constantly throughout the series, from long to shorter, and back to long, and even changed colour. And how many series have we seen where the drinks on the table change levels with every new camera angle? In the West we have a dedicated person known as the script supervisor, or continuity supervisor, who is responsible for checking wardrobe, props, set dressing, hair, makeup, etc. I don't read Thai, so I don't know if such a person is used in Thai productions, but if they are, from what I've seen, they all need to get the boot!
I will definitely re-watch the series again, maybe starting from episode 4, or at least with eps 1-3 muted! My criticisms of TML, are born out of frustration, yes, but more importantly, I include them in the hope that those behind the camera, will learn to understand what viewers want, and importantly, what they don't want.
If there is any chance, I'd love to see a third series, which would show more of TongGus, KingUea's wedding, (bringing back some of the character's from the first series, and Gun finally finding a partner, plus of course, more of MaiJade. I might be asking too much, but I'll keep my fingers crossed, just in case.
