It's not like most of the latest Hollywood films (fast paced, things gets blown up or shot at, cheap slap jokes etc). The slow pace didn't bother at all, neither did it try to pull out tears. Everything fit perfectly and made sense - even the ending. It reminded me very much Kawabata's novels or other Asian originated novels.

A cleverly crafted romance that works despite itself.
The Beauty Inside tackles the old adage of “beauty is in the inside” with a compelling and refreshing take well worth its course .Caution : if you poke at it too much , it will definitely fall apart but for what it’s worth which is : a soft focus on a topic infused with romance ; it nails it .
The Beauty Inside doesn’t aim to be its predecessor as a social commentary and it’s quite clear from the get go that this movie just wants to explore what romance could be for someone who changes their body everyday . You will not get profound quotes on acceptance and image . Far from it . However, one gets a portrait of loneliness from the male lead and a tour de force from the female lead .
And that leads me to the standout here : Han Hyo Joo was terrific in this ! Her character portrait and her portrayal which is refreshingly far away from the infantile rom com woman was astounding ! She helped with the gravitas , nuance and emotional resonance of this movie that this was a total tour de force of talent !
This movie is also very well crafted . The hues and tones were just right and the motif of furniture was cleverly built in with the whole theme . The cameos of top Korean stars makes the movie super cool too.
OVERALL- A cleverly crafted romance that works despite itself. I say “despite itself “ because it really could have knocked it out with a more punchy social commentary and shorter run time . Those were just cons working against the movie. However , if the story compels you , go for it .

A very sweet movie
I've never written a review but I wanted to talk about this movie. I think I had a bit higher hopes than what I experienced, but I'm not too upset about it.My biggest issue with the plot is the cliche "I'm leaving you to protect you" thing. I hate it, a lot. Probably a pet peeve of mine and doesn't bother others as much, but yeah. At least it's not a huge portion of the run time.
Another thing is the message. From my understanding the message is about loving people not for looks but for what is inside. But I feel like they only show her interacting with very handsome men when it comes to anything relationship wise.
Obviously I am NOT asking for her to kiss really old men, children, grandmas, etc. I understand that would just be uncomfortable, and in this hypothetical relationship there would be days where any intimacy comes to a screeching halt.
But why not more intimacy with average men? Women? There are definitely some scenes with that, like her holding his cheeks in that one scene. And most importantly the kisses she shares with women at the end! That was a nice surprise. You might even count the encounter with him as a Japanese woman.
But at the same time, I understand depicting something that looks like same sex love can be hard to get permission to do (especially in 2015 i would assume?) and this seems like, overall, a simple and easy to digest film.
Also, perhaps the impact was saved for that final montage right before the credits roll. I loved it so much! That part definitely singlehandedly raised my rating of the show. It was just so sweet.
The female lead is just so beautiful. I think their romance is depicted well, both of them feeling like they just clicked. I got the sense both of them had a very... romantic taste? Like the music they enjoyed, their sense for furniture. I think they meshed well without them having to spell out "he likes her because [__] and vice versa".
I also felt really bad for both of them at certain points. I felt sad he could never form connections, but later I felt sad that she was going through so much. Of course I was frustrated with them at points too, but I'm always like that. And it was never too bad.
Overall I would reccomend it. It definitely didn't feel 2 hours long to me. It was sweet and left me in a good mood. A very warm feeling movie!

The Story
It's crazily genius. The story is definitely one of the very few of its kind. In the story, the main hero at least have a personality of his own since he only started changing faces when he reached a certain age. Woo-jin at least has his own personality, talent, and skills before he lost his physical appearance and started changing. Yi-soo, on the other hand, lives a normal day-to-day life and getting involved in a crazy circumstances like this entails difficulties.
The story effectively depicts a story of a person finding true love and belongingness in this world despite his "illness". At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether the whole world is against you as long as there is some people who accepts you through and through.
The Cast
Just having Han Hyo-joo is already enough for me. But of course, the premise requires the movie to have a lot of actors/actresses to act as the hero. There's plenty of them but it helped that known actors portrayed the hero in the crucial scenes in the story. Most mermorable performances for me was from Park Seo-joon, Lee Jin-wook, Lee Dong-wook, Go Ah-sung, and of course Yoo Yeon-seok. There were many others who played as the hero and made their very short appearance worthwhile.
Overall
I'm a total sucker for everything crazy and supernatural like this. I already love the story without watching it yet so there's not much work to be done for me. But, what I really appreciate is the watly the story is execited when such premise is already complicated. I love how I felt the sincerity and desperation of Woo-jin and Yi-soo's love.

That's the first korean movie I've ever seen.
I was a bit worried before starting the drama. I was a bit uncomfortable with the idea of someone without a fix appaerence... But that was nice. No... THAT WAS REALLY GOOD. My feels were totally hited.
That was a beautiful story, beautiful by the way the characters acts with each others, the way the main character explain his feelings...
The ending was so beautiful. Just nothing more.
The music "True Romance" by Citizens suits perfectly to drama.
The rhythm was slow... The athmospher was peaceful... That was pleasant, sad too... and happy...
Yes, I put a 10 everywhere, but, when I'm thinking of it, I feel just happy.

The beauty inside
Quando eu vi que tava no catálogo da telecine, já coloquei na lista. Eu assisti todo dia e amei, a essência do filme é tão bonita! Eu amei! Was this review helpful to you?

Have they lost their logic ??
No so worth it to watch. I mean how come he can go Czech republic with the changing face.... What about the Passport face recognition..... And when he turn into foreigners, he just fucking forgets how to speak in Korean ??? In Toto it's just get the ratings doesn't deserve !!Only the thing I come to digest is how the FL get nervous and stressed when suddenly a complete stranger holds her hand. And how it leads her to doors of amnesia, but even though she can't break their relationship because she things he needs her and can't survive without her !!
Wasted my time !!
