Another day, another tragedy, but this time Yong has had enough. He is ready to don his mask and figure out what happened to his father once and for all, and he will not allow anyone; not even a desperate Eun Chae or a sword-wielding Shi Hoo, to stand in his way. (Source: Viu)

Five Stars

"Ffs, it's episode 17 why are they still pulling the same crap of killing of or disturbing anyone who's about to tell him the truth about what happened to his father. Finally realized why his revenge felt so empty. It's because he hasn't found even the tiniest clue about what happened even though he's had like a hundred close encounters. I'm convinced that whoever wrote this story is evil af. They even went and killed swe dol too. Why????? It added nothing to the story except make us sad(again!). He's already out for revenge for his real father. Kill his mother too, why don't ya, I don't care anymore! Maaan never knew I could like a drama so much and hate it equally all at the same time. I need a nice comedy after finishing this. Heck I think I'd even go for those sickeningly sweet romance dramas. Need to drown my sorrows from this one."

yeah the story is really annoying because the writer gives us the illusion that Iljimae was getting closer to the truth, but the people who can spill the tea keeps getting killed left and right. but i think this kind of story is not exactly new to me, the second half of The Royal Gambler also had the villain kept winning LOL, so maybe that's why people disliked it so much.

the biggest 'plot twist' is having Yong-ee's mother finally admitting to Ja Dol that he is his younger blood brother, with the same father of Lee Won Ho (who got killed and framed as a traitor) to stop Ja Dol from killing Yong-ee when his identity as Iljimae was found out. Yong-ee is the legitimate son, and Ja Dol is the out-of-wedlock son. she confused him and the rest of us viewers by saying that Ja Dol's father is Byun Shik who raped her (FL's father), and after saying that wasn't true, that he is the son of Se Dol, LOL.

p/s Se Dol, their father was killed after pretending to be Iljimae to save his son. what a heartbreaking character, a true dad. sighh.

now it explains why the King looks so tacky and un-regal LOL. he was enthroned because of a rebellion and not someone of a royal lineage, LMAO. he also killed his own son, Crown Prince who's favoured more by the Qing. all the killings of Heaven's Comrades may have been ordered by him too, WTF. sick b*****.

anyways, Lee Joon Gi's mid-air kicks are phenomenal. reminds me of Warrior Baek Dong Soo at some point (their fighting methods are similar), they don't raise their swords unless to protect themselves so mostly they fight with their bare fist, and got to show off those gorgeous acrobatic moves. LJG probably has a slight advantage since he's a real martial artist with multiple black belts, and his small frame makes him really agile and fast like a ninja.

JCW and LJG are truly something else, especially in sageuk!!

Finally the truth

That was mean, kill Soe Dol for nothing and his sons weren't able to do anything, this episode made me really sad.
Yong also does that "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" very well.
