This drama wasn’t on my priority watchlist because I knew what was it about (for someone who has been through cancer in their family it’s difficult to watch a series like this), and I didn’t like very much neither of the main leads (overall Suzy after Big, what did you expect?).
On the other hand, I thought it was a sad romance story, so, I needed the right time to see it…
But I have to say that this drama is much more than that. It talks about family, friends and justice. If you are expecting to watch a romance story, with a lot of cheesy moments between the main couple, forget it! They’re are more time apart than together. But if you want to see a story about how to put things that are wrong in their right place, this is it!

The casting is fine. I liked them all. Even Suzy did a good job. But, really, Kim Woo Bin IS the show. He is simply amazing! I’ve never felt so much before the pain he’s feeling, the sadness and the emotions he felt. Really, only to see this actor it worths to see the show.

Music: is really good too. Although Kim Woo Bin in my opinion hasn’t a good voice, even his songs are nice.

Rewatch: perhaps I would see part of the show, but I
don’t think I’ll be able to watch again the last episode, it’s too sad.

Sometimes it’s hard to follow the painful moments of the main lead, but at the same time it is a beautiful and positive drama. So, if you have time to get sad, and you don’t mind to use a lot of Kleenex, watch it!

I’ve just watched it in 2021 and it’s wonderful xxxx

Amazing lead actors in Woo & Bae Suzy I wasn’t put off by reviews who only want fairy tale endings. This was such a good drama, the actors were an incredibly strong and talented group who had good chemistry & had me unable to stop watching.
I laughed, cried, played the OST over & over which was surprising for the eclectic mix.
Having just watched Crash landing on you (CLOY) and Itaewon Class I wasn’t expecting this to be SO good but it was.
I won’t give anything away but, beautiful acting. I loved it ????????❤️

So I ultimately watched Uncontrollably Fond because of the OST and short clips which sounded and looked really good on Youtube. In the past, I came across Uncontrollably Fond and moved past it because it's tagged as a tragedy, which is not a genre I frequent. Yes, Uncontrollably Fond is a tragedy, but I don't regret one second of it (which is really odd and rare for me, since I don't really like tragedies...)

This was one of those dramas that was nearly perfect. It had it's flaws that I don't really feel are worth mentioning because inevitably, they will deter you from watching this. Let me tell you why you should watch it.
Uncontrollably Fond proves that you can still love, even if you are going to die soon. It reminds you that it's never too late to remedy relationships that need fixing. It shows us that while we all have our flaws, we are all loved by others in different ways. And we will all be missed. And we all die some day.

I watched this drama with my mother who got sucked in about half way through the drama. Yes, parts of this drama can be a bit slow and some of the decisions our MC's make can be viewed as particularly frustrating, but those things didn't bother me. I loved watching them relive memories that gave us more details to their past. I loved watching the MC's fall in love again. I loved the love our main girl had for her little brother. I loved the love demonstrated between mother and son. I loved watching the bad guys get crushed. I loved seeing karma finally dishing out what was due.

Yes, I chocked up many times and SOBBED (literally, wailed in my living room along with my poor mother who had to take a nap afterwards because she was so tired from crying), but it was all because of love. Because of the mother's and son's love. Because of the little brother's love. Because of the main character's love for each other.

Uncontrollably Fond is similar to A Walk to Remember. We know that the main character is going to die in the end. There's no miracle or magic or experimental cure. It's life. And it was shown in such a delicate way that I couldn't help but appreciate this drama. The ending wraps up everything so well. I would have been happier with a baby in the end, but to see that everyone had grieved and remembered him, but moved on to live their lives sat well with me. Just like in the beginning of A Walk to Remember, our MC was in troublesome circumstances and the other MC came in and helped change their lives around for the better.

Right in the heart

I loved this drama. Yes it was emotional, yes it gets you thinking, attacks your senses from all sides. It was beautifully done, excellent cinematography and the topic of terminal illness handled with care & realistically.

Characters were all well portrayed. I literally wanted to know everyone’s story. It all knitted together well. Powerful scenes that left you going through each emotion with the characters.

Weeks later, this drama is still on my mind. Listening to the OST in my car, I sometimes can’t make it through an entire song. Maybe because of the ML own battle with cancer and art imitating life.

I would rewatch, only when I am feeling braver stronger and know it won’t wreck my for days!!

When you are up to try something different, give this a try. I was totally surprised by this drama.
Really was not what I was expecting. At all. Kim Woo Bin at his absolute best imho.

This is a drama that will break your hearts if you were able to withstand the pain for 20 episodes. What made me watch this was the pairing of Kim Woo Bin (whom I love since The Heirs, I had a second male lead syndrome while watching it) and Bae Suzy (watched her in Dream High, she was still too young there). I was having a summer vacation and had nothing to do, I just wanted to watch some korean drama after a very tiring semester I just finished (never thought watching this will just break me even more).

I will start with the CHARACTERS, Shin Joon Young played by Kim Woo Bin, was perfect for the role. He acted like a top star haha, very much like KWB in real life. But, as a top star with an illness fighting to live. Just wow. KWB played it very well. I just saw him on a different light. He made me cry and feel the pain he's been going through both physically and emotionally. My favorite was the scene with his father and mother towards the end of the drama and the shower scene. It breaks my heart remembering those scenes. Next, Noh Eul played by Suzy. I think it was good performance from her considering the amount of improvement since I saw her in Dream High. The character Noh Eul, I'm seeing Suzy, as what would she really feel if she was Noh Eul. The scenes in which Noh Eul is being cute and playful was I think very Suzy. Haha.

The STORY is so painful. In the beginning you would see the chemistry between the two main leads as the drama begins to show flashbacks of what really happened between them before the "accident". It was so cute, like a typical RomCom story but it will change as the drama tells all the obstacles that the leads will face. The ending was already set from episode 1. You know what will happen to Shin Joon Young. I was able to hold on despite of the pain that this drama put me through because it has an interesting story. The only thing that I did not like is how cruel Shin Joon Young could be sometimes, but still I understand what he's going through. He always had guilt inside his heart, and he wanted to punish himself because of it.

The cinematography was awesome. Soundtrack was so good. I recommend to watch this drama because it will be worth it in the end. There are lessons to pick up from this drama.

Remember: It's the stories that break our hearts that stick with us the longest. :)

Cliche melodrama

Ever since I saw Kim Woo Bin in The Heirs, I have been a fan of his. He is a wonderful actor and I felt that he stole the show from main leads, Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye. When you look at him, he is present and you can see the inner monologue within. He is also incredibly handsome, making you unable to keep from looking at him. I knew I would look for more work from him and I came across Uncontrollably Fond on Viki.

Unfortunately, the drama itself is nothing great. It's full of unoriginal story lines and ridiculous nonsense. I found myself questioning the choices the characters made in the drama and could only chalk it up to foolish youth. If anyone of us had a terminal illness that we were young enough to battle, we would choose to go to the hospital and have it treated. Our main lead makes some very foolhardy choices, all the while bemoaning his fate when he could have at least tried to save himself. How does a person having everything going for them make such a choice? Is revenge worth it? Sometimes living happily is the best revenge against your enemies.

The other characters are no better. I was underwhelmed by Suzy Bae's performance and found her character one I could not feel for. They also make choices no one in real life would ever make. It was a nonsensical melodrama and I wish Kim Woo Bin would get better scripts because he has enormous potential and can play a variety of characters from villains to leading romantic love interests. I hope now that he is back from his 4 year health hiatus, he will dig in and demand better material. He is so worth it.

SADEST DRAMA EVER!! And Why only 8.0?

Just watch this because of Kim Woo Bin's acting. He is soo good.

I knew it was a tearjerker and I thought I could handle it. But it was beyond my reach and will get attached to it even from the first episode. And let me say its because of Kim Woo Bin's acting skills alone. FL was also good and did her best but he steal the show.

Yh it has some dramatic moments that could be avoided but its ok since the drama as a whole packege is good.
The rating is given only 8.0 and I dont know why. It deserves more than 8.0.

This drama wrecked me. I came in looking for a lighthearted romance. This was so much more.
From the very first episode, you would be able to tell that this drama is no joke. It's mature and serious and will pull at your heartstrings.
It is a reminder to give second chances, to cherish those whom you love, to apologize when necessary, to speak up, to tell someone how you feel before it's too late.
While Noh Eul and Joon Young had their ups and downs, they are a prime example of trusting your gut. Don't wait until it's too late.
Joon Young was more than his illness. He was more than his career. He was more than every label he was given. He lived well and on his own terms. I'm glad that he held onto Noh Eul. I'm glad that he didn't give in.
Despite everything, Noh Eul and Joon Young were there for one another. Isn't that ultimately what true love is? In sickness and in health? Through the pain and into new beginnings.
Noh Eul had to go on with life, but Joon Young will be with her every step of the way, counting all the reasons he loves her. From one reason and way past nine and a half and a quarter and an eighth and a sixteenth.

Kim Woo Bin is Amazing and I am here for it

I was on the fence about watching this one considering I am not into melodrama and I generally go for light and breezy stuff. I somehow watched the first two episodes and while the story for me was too intense, I absolutely adored KWB. He is gorgeous and did a great job at being the angsty, sad, conflicted and sometimes cruel person his character is.

The story did not make sense at times, many characters made questionable and frustrating choices throughout the drama. However, the main leads worked for me together, their chemistry was great and they had adorable moments together. They were truly star crossed lovers and the actors played their part to perfection (yes, even Suzy).

The OST was beautiful, the cinematography carried the story-telling to some point. The side characters for me were a bit annoying. They lacked a certain depth and showed no significant development by the finale apart from the obvious change of hear that was bound to happen.

Overall, this one is a tear jerker and all those moments of brilliance and emotions belong to Kim Woo Bin, he was exceptional and carried this show on his back.

I'm depressed

Yes this drama definitely gave me depression. But that's on me cause I knew what I was getting myself into. I just finished the drama and I have to talk about it right fucking now. Yes.. It was a full on emotional ride and I enjoyed every second of it. I mean yes it had it's melodrama but it wasn’t cringe. It never made me cringe. I loved every bit of it. Every character had their own stories. The series was so beautifully made. There were so many connections. Everything just made sense somehow. Now of course you cant look for logics and science from a drama like this. It served it purpose and made me cry. I had to mentally prepare myself for the trauma I'm gonna get from next episode lol. So yes I'd say the series was good.
Kim Woo Bin owns my heart. He stole the show. The way he smiled but you could see the pain in his eyes just made the show even better. Istg I just wanted to protect our big baby Jun- Young from everything. He deserves the world. How can a person cry so beautifully please God really took His time creating this man . His smile my goodness. I'll sell myself for that smile.
I can't think of a better partner than Bae Suzy in this series. She's literally so pretty. That couple was the best in my opinion. I don’t say this often for straight couples lol.
Im Joo Hwan.... He has this really beautiful skintone. Unusual features that made him very attractive. I really was hoping him to be with Eul in the last episode. He did a great job with the character. I loved this Ji-Tae character. I wish we could actually see a lil more bromance between Ji-Tae and Jun-Young. They had a really great chemistry lol
All in all I was very satisfied with the cast. Also it broke my heart when I googled the guy who played No-Jik and found out that he was accused for sexual assault. I mean ik It's not related I still just wanted to share lol. Also Kim Woo-Bin actually dealing with cancer in real life was my last straw. Please I Couldn't take anymore of it. I can't wait for his comeback. And I really pray and hope that he's doing well.

I'm not a person who likes Melodrama, but when Kim Woo Bin get a main role....you just have to sit down and watch.
Plot: Kim Woo Bin has his main role and did an amazing job, Suzy acted natural, and that was the point of her character.
Story:It's not something "WOOOW", it's simple. Anyway it was great, has a sweet relationship, I love the way they made the flashbacks. But the drama was so depressive. Every episode is so sad and made me cry all the time ;__;
Many people hated the end, and I absolutely understand why, but I have to say, I liked it. It was so real and pure. Yes, I cried all the time with a smile just because the story is so beautiful xD It doesn't matter how many times you watch it...you will always cry.
Give it a try.
I hope Kim Woo Bin oppa gets better and returns to making amazing dramas like this (but happy ones) :(
