Sweet Concept

I know this has been done a few times but I thought the actress here is one of the best and it doesn't matter Japanese, Korean or Chinese. I thought the sleeping with him while drunk was bad writing but I guess she thought she loved the other guy but how could she have loved him if she couldn't show any real emotions around him so that made no sense. Also, the young man sticking around to be humiliated was a little too much but actually setup okay. It was a weird drama from the aspects of how could a women who graduated from two of the best universities in the world not have a clue. Like I said before, this is a beautiful women in all aspects including her acting, looks, facial expressions and she is not overly skinny like the Korean and Chinese actresses. It's a shame she got married to some loser and stopped making dramas for a while during the marriage. Why do women do this in their prime? Run off 5-7 years of good work then do whatever you want because the momentum of your career might not come back.

I have mixed- feelings about the 2017 adaptation of the series and work ‘ Kimi Wa Petto’ and how it lived up to the original adaptation version of Sumire and Takeshi’s beloved relationship.

I think where the series flourished came through the main leads’ acting. They did have good chemistry and I really enjoyed seeing our leads onscreen together. On the other hand I didn’t really feel the dynamic charm of our characters onscreen.

One of the beauties of the original relationship between the unusual and somewhat surreal love story between our leads came through their ability to help one another through unusual circumstances. It was oddly sweet and gradual and presented many clear sociological messages against conformity and gender expectations in relationships.

In the recent version? I’m not sure if i felt the same emotions. It wasn’t bad per day but there was something slightly more hollow about their onscreen relationship. Perhaps it was a consequence of more conservative implications on dialogue or less focus upon original messages, but the recent version of the beloved series felt like not a bad but a slightly pale comparison to the original.

Such a fun ride!

I was in a drama slump but this picked me right up and I blew through it in two days. I’m fond of dramas with unusual premises, and what could be more unusual than a career woman keeping a younger man as a pet?! Naturally such a situation led to many humorous mishaps and unique scenarios. Momo was charming and endearing without crossing the line into obnoxiously childish, Sumire was relatable and multifaceted, and both characters felt nuanced. The attachment between them felt so genuine and heartfelt, and their chemistry was electric. The drama wonderfully pulled off the transition from platonic affection to sexual tension. From other reviews, I’d expected this to be pretty PG, but was pleasantly surprised by multiple bold and steamy moments to never let the viewers forget that Momo may be a cute, playful “pet,” but he’s still very much a man! I rarely rewatch dramas but I could definitely see myself watching this again. (I’ll also mention that after I finished, I watched the 2003 original, and I prefer this one.)

Surprisingly good

Also known under the title you are my pet. This is a 2017 Japanese television series. It has alternate titles “Tramps Like Us”, and “Kimi Wa Petto”. This romantic comedy has 16, 45 minute episodes. It was a remake based on a popular Manga entitled “Kimi wa Pet” by Yayaoi Ogawa (2000-2005).

Although a beautiful and successful career woman, Sumire Iwaya (Noriko Iriyama) hides a painfully shy, socially uncertain and self-effacing nature from all but her close friends. Having both attended Tokyo University and Harvard she is considered elite in terms of a marriage prospect. Expecting a proposal from her current boyfriend, he instead breaks off the relationship after telling her he cheated and has fathered a child. Iwaya is devastated and gets inebriated to drown her sorrows. After staggering back home, she opens a cardboard box to discover an attractive young man who is hiding from the jealous partner of a current romantic interests. He looks up from the box at Iwaya and his wide eyed look reminds her of her beloved pet Momo. The next day she wakes up to find this young stranger, Takeshi Goda (Jun Shison) in her bed. When she tries to kick him out and he says he has no place to go. So Iriyama issues a challenge and says he can stay but only if he will act as a pet. Surprisingly, he agrees. Iriyama finds comfort in her new pet, Momo and can talk through her many concerns and worries with him. Things get complicated when Iwaya’s long time love, Shigehito Hasumi (Seiiche Tanabe) returns from oversees. She must hide her unusual pet from friends and family. Who will she choose? The young man seems to understand her like no other but her lost love is back and just as handsome and charming as ever.

Spoiler 🚨 I was a bit surprised how well I liked this. I have known people just like Iwaya who are beautiful and people assume their lives must be perfect. Really attractive people must develop a tough shell as people have very high expectations and are often less forgiving of mistakes and flaws in persons they deem that lucky. Her vulnerability is what made the situation more plausible. Momo is also understandable as he is in desperate need of a place and also is drawn to Iwaya’s kindness and vulnerability. Momo constantly builds Iwaya up and helps her to overcome her fears. Takeshi loves Iwaya but is willing to help her relationship with Hasumi if it means she will be happy. There was a female rival after Hasumi, Shiori Fukushima (Wakana Sakai), and evening if Iwaya and Hasumi did not wind up together I did not want to see him with Shiori because she went about it in a very catty way. But it became clear that love often has its own ideas. It ended perfectly all the way around. Noriko Iriyama is genuinely beautiful so it was easy to see why so many men would be interested despite her somewhat awkward nature. It is a fun, feel good watch.

Perhaps it's fitting that people are most moved by the stories that most relate to them, but this story is easy to relate to for anyone who wishes they had someone special to spend their downtime with. Although I haven't read the manga or seen the earlier version of this drama, I was truly touched by this drama and found myself laughing and crying during almost every episode. A unique, touching story that leaves you wanting more. Although some of the side stories and interractions felt like filler or felt forced, the main story between the two main characters made it worth sticking around for. The ending could have so easily been ruined, but they did a good job.

Interesting to say the least!

Honestly, the female lead was more of a pet than the male lead 😂😂 she was so naive for someone her age. Even her sister saw right through the male lead’s action. When he realizes their connection went way back, all bets were off.
That kitty cat female was annoying and the second lead guy is weak emotionally and lack self discipline. How do you have a girlfriend and still entertain other female? Albeit, the girlfriend was emotionally cheating on him she was thinking of another man while in bed with him.. 😂😂😂😂

Desenvolvimento lento e frustrante.

A melhor atuação eu considero a do Takeshi.
