Four Stars

**Spoiler Alert** My question is how chuchu can do surgery? I mean I get it in the matter of her performing autopsy on dead ppl but on ppl who are alive, that's a different matter... Cutting open a stomach and intestine. *shuvers* I really cannot be a doctor. I am not made for it. That was so crazy tho... Forcing a ball into ppl throat and made them a time-bomb. Damn no wonder Jinyu was so furious. Hmm Jinyu wore a different kind of outfit this time. Looks more menacing and ofc stunning. But why? Was it official uniform or what? Oh that "spy" was Zhou han... I can't recognise him, he looked a bit more round. You know at first I thought we are going to see them married earlier and chuchu can still work as a coroner but that didn't make any sense. A bit weird they teased us with a clip of it at the end of each episode tho. WHAT THE FUCK HOW DID IT HAPPENED LIKE THAT??? I'M SCARED NOW PLEASE I DON'T WANT ANYONE FROM JINYU CAMP TO DIE. Wait.. Where was the emperor when the confrontation was happening?? YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME?? THAT'S THE ENDING?? THAT'S ALL??? WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE ME MORE??? I WANT TO SEE THEM HAPPY AFTER THAT??? SERIOUSLY T-T

Good ending

Everything was conclusive and there was a lot of double-crossing between Xue Tang and the prince that made his death more satisfying. We also learn more information even at the end of the story.

It’s a beautifully portrayed drama but I keep feeling like it’s missing something, plus the fl’s facial expressions are all dull. PS- just my personal opinion.

Smart Storyline makes this rookie drama a compelling watch

The thing I loved about this Detective drama was how multiple story arcs unfolded across the episodes to reveal the key big plot. There is a bit of sappy romance here, some comedic scenes to keep things light-hearted and a sufficiently good-paced level of suspense that kept me hungry to see what was going to happen in the next episode. For the romance part, I was expecting to see another masochistic alpha male White Knight rushing into save a hapless but beautiful damsel in distress, with the second Male and Female Lead characters coming in as the "necessary" green-eyed monsters to make life hard whilst they compete for the affections of the Leading Couple. Nope, none of that toxic jealousy crap. The Imperial Coroner departs from that trope. The Female lead character, Chu Chu, is one smart rookie who plays the humble but hardworking underdog assistant to the Male Lead character, Mr Genius Xiao Jin Yu. Together with the other supporting cast, they crack their brains to solve why various people are murdered throughout the city and piece together multiple clues to uncover a sinister political agenda and unwittingly expose their own birth secrets. I love how Chu Chu's quirkiness and lively enthusiasm work so well together to complement Xiao Jin Yu's ability to remain cool and cognitive about the cold-facts of reality!Chu Chu and Xiao Jin Yu's romance was one of my favourite things about this show. I found it really beautiful to see how Xiao Jin Yu's initial skepticism about Chu Chu's mysterious background gets eroded over time, as his admiration for her passion and meticulosity when it comes to her work eventually wins over his trust, respect and affections. This is a couple who go through multiple setbacks and trials together and emerge as besotted serious lovers. Like a small spark that simmers slowly and eventually grows into a burning steady flame. This is what romance should be!The Lead and supporting characters make up a fairly young cast so it is refreshingly nice to see them all collectively work together to achieve their common end goal. The ending is a happy one, so this is a feel-good drama you can watch if you want intellectual stimulation, comedy, zero-boredom suspense, endearing romance all rolled into one!
