Romantic Love Story of the Year

After watching this rom-com drama of Xulu and Lin Yi...I cannot get over it rewatching random episodes with sweet moments together. They had good chemistry in every scene except for Ding Jia Yun for me he's too old to be a third party who fell in love with Liang Cheng instead he's fit in a role of an uncle or a producer something though. Age gap doesn't matter as long as sincerity and true love wait.

I liked the fashion style of clothes that they wear and the earth color combinations Lin Yi looks cuter and handsome. He stands 6'1 tall seems perfect in all his outfit and style. Aside from this, I also watched their interviews and video clips behind the scenes they're comfortable and very professional while doing every take of the scenes.

Hoping this will have season 2 in a more mature role to watch Lin Yi and I also like his mesmerizing eyes that catch my attention and his dance moves.

Xu lu is pretty, talented, and she acts naturally..I can say she is a versatile Chinese actress of her generation and knowing she has a supportive family-like her father and mother. Looking forward to her new upcoming drama as well as Lin Yi too.

A simple story for romcom lovers

Before getting into the review I would like to say one thing... This drama might not be an outstanding ine that breaks all the stereotypes and present a Mind-blowing story that you have never expected. But this drama does what it does in a great way.

It is simple and done good. The show feels a bit slow in the beginning, but as you watch you start feeling good.

Yes, there are a few bits that gives me cringe, for example the entire big-data thing of the ML feels stupid, like for the people who know, "Changing the iterations" is a textbook step in model evaluation, but they say that they have been struggling for months and the ML has solved this in a single look, and this is suggested when there is a big competetion is going in, so that the ML can get his spot changed. That is unnecessary scene, but the scriptwriters wanted to convey that the ML is super smart. There are many such antics that need to be ignored. But most of them will end in the first half of the story.

Some actions of the ML towards FL can be a bit overboard in the episodes 11-15.

But when you look back, all you need to remember is the romance which the story will convey in a very good way. So, it is still an absolute recommendation, if you feel prepared.

UPSET WE NEVER SEE AN AUDIENCE PERFORMANCE WITH LU JING PLAYING THE VIOLIN AND LIANG CHEN SINGING

This was like Love O2O meets Intense Love, and I was so down for this. Like seriously. Except the FL in Intense Love was way too dramatic and immature at times.

Lin Yi fucking brought it in this. PYHOMS has never been very great in my eyes, even though a lot of people like it. I have never liked it that much. So when I found out Lin Yi was starring in this? No reaction. But oh man, he deserved a reaction. This man—seriously fucking brought it. I can't wait to get excited about his next work. I hope it lives up to this.

Lulu Xu's character was actually pretty bad good. Usually, I have a thing or two to say about the FL. Not today! Okay, but she's only like a few years older than Lin Yi. How old is her character? Like the fact that the ML was considered too young all the time? Eh. Twenty-two isn't that young when LuLu Xu is only twenty-six (if her character is also this age).

Ding Jia Yun reminds me of that tool from Midsummer Is Full of Love (2020). That fucking tool that can't feel pain—yeah, that one. Very punchable face type. That's the only reason they remind me of each other... very punchable faces. The make-up team really knew what they were doing.

Yes, this started off pretty slow. But that's the thing about C-dramas, they have really great build-up, so when you actually get to the relationship part, you can clearly see why these people like each other. It doesn't just jump straight into anything.

I can't remember the last time I smiled so much. Thank you. I really needed this after an exhausting and depressing week.

So, that soundtrack.... fucking slaps harder than my Asian mother's slipper after a B on a test.

SOOOOO fucking glad there wasn't a breakup. A little "blip", yeah. But I thought that just added more substance to the story.

Downside: I didn't give a shit about the second couple. Ma Shan Shan and Sun Bin Yu's relationship just didn't hit until like maybe the third to second last episode. And it only hit maybe 50% then too. Rough life. All the really good shows don't have good side romance (just like Love Is Sweet).

Also, the romance. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't go into C-dramas expecting much except from a few lip presses (with zero movement—kill me). Well, let's just say dramas like Love Is Sweet and the majority of this... really upping my expectations. The first two kisses in the drama were kind of... like... please move your lips Lulu Xu? Please. Lin Yi is trying his best! But then the third one and beyond? Fucking great. Lulu Xu—I want to watch more of you in dramas. I hope future C-dramas try to follow this and Love Is Sweet's romance steam. I love innovation!

OKAY BUT I'M JUST UPSET WE NEVER GOT TO SEE AN AUDIENCE PERFORMANCE WITH LU JING PLAYING THE VIOLIN AND LIANG CHEN SINGING.

FIRST CDRAMA-

this was obviously my first cdrama, stayed up till 6 am to watch 10 eps when i started it and i didnt complain under bed too- its so good like it was the first time in a drama that i didnt care about their age difference since some age differences arent bad tbh, but i remember not wanting to watch the show because chinese sounded weird to me for the first time and the intro was like a minute or two and so was the outro..BUT THIS SHOW IS DEFINITELY A SHOW I RECOMMEND IF ITS UR FIRST TIME OR SOMETHING

A very unexpected and pleasant storyline…

Essentially, it was a very nice intermission contemporary esports/idol drama, while waiting for Falling Into Your Smile to be fully English subtitled… Which I just recently started. Unexpectedly for me, Love Scenery is wining, hands down.
I wish that they had made use of Lu Jin’s fantastic violin playing skills in one of the Liang Cheng’s songs.
As for the old stalker/friend… I guess they just wanted an old creepy guy in the mix. Seriously, his character had absolutely no purpose in the drama.

Fyi: Lulu Xu and Lin Yi’s actings were effortlessly natural. One of the best chemistry and synergy that I have seen in a Chinese contemporary drama.

This drama didn't hit like I expected it to!

I started this drama while it was airing, dropped it because it bored the hell out of me, and picked it up again recently because of an edit.
Before I comment on the plot, I want to say that the younger male, older female trope in this drama, didn't cut it for me. Although the female lead is 28 and the male lead is 22, I rarely ever felt like there is an age difference between them because Lu Jin's character is more mature than Liang Chen's somehow. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but I got to say that threw me off, mainly when she acted all childish and all after she learned that he was supposed to study abroad without telling her. He had to stay outside her place in the cold for the entire night, waiting for her to forgive him, like why? She hopped to a conclusion on her own and punished him without hearing that he didn't intend to go in the first place, and studying abroad was forced on him by his father. Seriously, I felt like the male lead was older than her most of the time. That aside, the plot of the drama was pretty good and all, but I wish the second couple's story weren't dragged until the very last episode, and the gaming sequences didn't feel like fillers at a certain point. As much as I enjoyed their little escape to a gaming world, I found them a bit redundant and unnecessary because there wasn't any creativity to them as they always escaped to the same places in the game time and time again.

The chemistry is addicting

If I'm being honest, the story and characters aren't at all special. I know the story has a lot of cliche elements to it and a lot of other dramas have done something similar (although please note, I haven't watched much gaming dramas so this review is coming from someone who is watching this type of atmosphere for the first time). Both male lead and female lead characters are your typical smart boy and naive (slightly high pitched) girl. But the acting and charisma of Lin Yi and Lulu Xu is what brings this drama to life.

The main leads' chemistry is outstanding that I don't mind the dragged out storyline of Liang Chen not knowing that Lu Jing knows her identity. There's a spark in every scene they're together in whether that be in real life or in-game. The charisma of the actors really make these characters better than they actually are. Lin Yi has also heavily improved from Put Your Head On My Shoulder.

But the big flaw of the drama is how it has a weak supporting cast. Strong leads do make the drama entertaining but its side characters add nothing else to the story, making you want to skip their scenes. If the secondary cast was more likable, the drama as a whole would have been stronger.

Overall, the drama is able to hype up its lead couple really well. But in a way I would say that may be the only part of the drama that actually excels? Cinematography is great and I love its use of music in important scenes but it's not spectacular either. As a romcom though, it's definitely worth a watch. After all, the main point of a romcom is to hook you in through the leading pair. My rating of the drama is purely based off my enjoyment of watching the two leads, so is it worth it? I would say yes, just don't expect a well-rounded drama that is excellent in every aspect.

perhaps it might be one of the rarest comments among a bunch of good ones. it isn't because i hate it. i was always waiting for this drama to be aired in the first place, however when i watched it, it didn't go as i expected. i do love the main leads (both lin yi and its FL) but i don't like the 2nd male lead (due to his age gap and if he's compared to lin yi, he's way too old) i mean i wanna feel love triangle with an equal opponent. moreover, i don't like the support male lead (FL's friend/ML's neighbor) as well.

Great Drama - Cute

I binged all the episodes that were out, and then rewatched some before it even finished.

I think this drama is really good and really cute and I love the leads characters.

Pay no attention to the description here though, it’s completely wrong and inaccurate.

In short, he’s in university & loves to game - and excels in this profession. He has a crush on a celebrity singer

Said celebrity singer needs to learn how to play the game; and thus ends up getting his coaching - but she never lets him know her identity.

The two basically end up getting to know each other online through games first

Eye-candy Drama. Another decent drama once again!

Let's start with LIKES:

1. STORY
So far I love the story a lot. It's an old idea, but they've added new things to it and the execution feels fresh. I especially love the surge of older women younger guy roles I've been seeing lately, mainly as characters, sometimes irl, or both, LOL. It's refreshing.

2. ACTING
Lin Yi's acting has also improved here, and so has his appearance like damn ?. LuLu Xu is also p good. But I've seen her in Sunshine Of My Life (airing time overlapped with this drama i think) and I think I like her there better tbh. I'll get to that in dislikes.

3. MUSIC is OK
it's kinda the standard sounding Chinese female voice singing thing. Tbh in all Chinese dramas the songs kind of sound the same to me, esp the female voice its sang in, so this makes no real difference tbh. But I didn;t notice anything i DISLIKED about it, so that counts for something. And the main songs are very catchy. A score i think is very good (or at least more experimental or that actually made an impression on me, rofl) is the score in The Long Ballad.

4. Filmed nicely
idk shit about cinematography, but it was nice; for the vid game scenes they're done well. Lin Yi's action acting and stunts were a lil wonky XD But i'll forgive him since he's a young and newer actor. And he did seem to have charisma/confidence while doing them, so he's done half the work already XD The fact that the actual video game interface isn't really.....filmed though (besides the standard blue glowy sci fi text and shapes thing) is something that I'm always acutely aware of XD. But i dont mind--whose gonna devote budget to that if its for supporting cast scenes? all the main cast video game scenes are actual filmed scenes. so its cool

I DISLIKE:
1. The FL's indecisiveness
Something tells me the FL is going to be one of the biggest factors as to why this series will be so drawn out, and why the progression of their relationship has been so frustratingly slow so far. At first I thought she was going to be very badass and assertive---after all, she works in show biz, she has to be able to fend for herself. And she can. But when it comes to relationships, she's a little indecisive. Maybe she's scared of relationships and being hurt (which makes sense) but I'm still annoyed lmao. Multiple times the ML has given her hints that he knows its her who he's been talking to online, and up to I think to the end of ep 11 or start of 12, she was still questioning it??

2. The Progression for the first few eps is PAINFUL.
Luckily if you're reading this now, u cannot repeat the same msitake i amde which was to watch this show WHILE AIRING. this show is def binge, skip material for certain parts. Especially between 8 and 12 if memory serves. But if u have patience, disregard this. It's 31 eps, I knew what I was getting into. BUT they didn't have ANY OTHER thing to extend the episode count, than making this stupidly repetitive "does he know its me" and "won't they will they"??

Editing this review poast-finishing the drama, I can definitely say that this was a ride, but it was refreshing, light and enjoyable. (But light without the heft 31 episodes. By the 20s everything goes by in a flash though).

The rewatch value for this is high because then you can just skip through all the unnecessary things, thus skipping the flaws lol.

outside of all that, I like this drama. Its the perfect eye-candy drama, if you're just looking for a light story, with light drama in between, video game/ mostly action scenes, and an attractive cast. The action scenes cud be better imo, but II'll give the benefit of the doubt here. I think Love Scenery is fun, and the visuals (both the actors, outfits, and the video game scenes) makes it worth it.

Overall rating: 7.8
u dont get extra brownie points for being an eye-candy drama smh

Slightly disappointed

I was waiting for this drama to air since I saw the teaser trailer. It was really a beautifully done teaser. When I watched the first few episodes I was quite hooked, the story was simple and the romance was slow budding and sweet. However as more episodes passed by I was disappointed by the lack of actual point to the story.

~Loves~
- The CGI for the gaming sequence is very well done
- The whole drama was beautifully shot, and the cast looks great
- The falling in love while gaming is pretty cute

~Hates~
- Lack of character development in both FL and ML. Aside from FL becoming a better gamer (not even sure how that suddenly happens since ML wasn't teaching her much, just letting admire his gaming prowess, guess she's a fast learner after all)
- The FL is supposedly a successful singer, but gets shy from just a look from a student. He's good looking I give you that, but being a singer, can't be she have never interact with attractive guys to be that impacted?
- I don't really care for the story of the side couple, I forwarded through it all. The side love story seems to be forced as there's no tie in to the main couple besides the fact that they're both friends with each other. The romance doesn't add anything to the story
- Synopsis feels like a cheat, I would expect at least some "chasing after your dreams" storyline to tie in to the gaming part. But it seems like there's none? The ML is a university student who is supposedly perfect and smart. But doesn't seems like he has any dreams whatsoever and is just busy dating his dream girl. Also is randomly a violin genius on top of a computer genius??? Scriptwriter, choose one thing only please!!
- Supposedly popular female actress walks around dating with a man but not even concerned with hiding her face from paparazzi

Okay end of my rant. I guess it would be a nice fluff piece if you're looking for something light to watch on a weekend. Maybe I'm disappointed cause I was expecting more to the story and there's basically nothing much going on.

Cute Chill Love Story

I'm a bit biased since the male lead is Lin Yi. I find him cute when I saw him first in Put Your Head On My Shoulder drama. His acting is subtle but very cute. As for the female lead, this is the first time I've watched her.

I find that the female lead doesn't fit in this role. I mean she is cute and etc. but since she is supposed to be a singer, I don't find her fitting for the role. Although it was initially insinuated that there will be an age gap between the lead, I find the female lead a tad too old looking beside the male lead.

For the story line, I think it is becoming a norm where ordinary people falls in love with an idol or actor/actress. I love online games and I think (regardless of the occupation), if you really spend a lot of time playing together, it is possible to develop some feelings. I love how the games comes "alive" thru them. I remember like how they did it also for Love O2O. Inserting this "game action" gives some sort of break from all the "drama" (no pun intended) in their life. The second male lead I also find too old for the female lead.

So far no heavy drama which I really like. There is enough cute scenes that makes you want to watch more. Hhhmmm the side story for the second leads, I find a bit confusing so I just usually skip it. But overall this is worth watching more than once.

As for the music, I love the OST so far. Very light and refreshing to the ears. I plan to download them on my phone.
