Okay so....it's been a while since I watched such a cliché Chinese drama but let me tell I did enjoy it and loved it a lottt!!
It had been on my list for so long and when I finally started it, I finished it in 3 days. I didn't think I would get through all 41 episodes however the main leads were so cute, they kept me going. The male lead was so gentle and I really love in dramas when the male lead fall for the female lead from the beginning and their relationship is stable throughout the drama. Even when they had a misunderstanding, I thought it would drag on but it did not. They solved it really fast. I have to say though Sheng Jing Chu annoyed me at that time because he was doing stupid things to say sorry but hey ho, he got there in the end.
I was confused at one point though. Why does Jing Chu give Cheng Liao the candy in the first episode as if he knows she's the girl from the hospital. However, he finds out around episode 15 or so that she was the girl who gave him the candy in the hospital when they were small. I thought he recognised her right from the start.
The ending was also a little rushed and messy in my opinion. I just feel as if something was missing and because it had 41 episodes, there should have been a better ending I think.
Anyways overall, it was a drama I quiet enjoyed, got the secret fangirl out in me....

Dentist would warn you, for this movie is too sweet

As a start, this movie runs ssssllllooooowwwwllly.

I gave high scores for the FL portrays a girl with really healthy weight, healthy complexion, and the clothing aligned with the story setting. The imaginary fighting arenas are perfectly executed with smooth (sometimes cute & vintage) gaming effects. The martial arts are fabulous! Every time, the GO beads were arranged perfectly so we could sense that director serious about this ancient game.

But the great things end here. The plot and characters are not interesting enough, the motion songs are okay. I never felt engaged to continue watching episode after episode. How I just keep forgetting this movie. It's like, this movie is so into special effects rather than story plot.

Sheng Jing Chu (ML), which is colorblind, reports to his therapist that Cheng Liao (FL) made him see colors. Strangely, the colors he saw only came solely from what FL wears. Whether it's from her clothes, hair, shoes, bag, etc. His therapist gave him advice without giving any medical reasons, yet his shown to have a plate for his achievement in medical therapy. What?

ML indeed showed that he is attracted to FL from the start, and so did the FL. But, FL insists on liking Xu Chi. When FL realized that Xu Ci likes another girl, then she admitted likes ML. What?

Yao Ke is pictured as ML eternal rival. Said that he has the same GO level as ML, high determination, and he lives up to win against ML. Yet every time they got engaged, Yao Ke made easily lost and instantly joined as ML supporting group. Not even once in the story he won against ML yet it said that he practices day and night. What?

There was this moment when ML sang and his colleague said that he actually has a good voice. So why don't let him sing instead? Why director chose to dub his voice? Niu Jun Feng can sing! The lipsync moment really made me cringe and disappointed. And Jo Yeon Hoon suppose to play piano, why don't shoot him up close while his hands really playing?

For some, this movie could be sweet for its lack of intrigue. No fatal misunderstanding between characters, no deep-sworn-revenge hatred, not much insightful thinking. Just sweet young talents daily lives story with some comedy thrown here and there. Me, I could get diabetes for the over-sweet taste. But, for others, the story plot would feel quite draggy and the character's developments are rather shallow for 41 episodes. I think it could have ended within 24 episodes to be perfectly rewatchable. How does this movie have to carry THREE couples' love stories. Overly ambitious, I guess.

To be honest, seeing the FL made me realize how Chinese male actors are seriously underweight. There is no chance ML could walk-carry FL bridal-style. He would hurt his back, or worse, he would drop her. That's why I prefer manly feature body style like Zheng Ye Cheng or Alan Deng.

This movie couldn't bring out the best in Niu Jun Feng (Sheng Jing Chu). He played a "safe" character here and did not add many spices to it. As a stiff-sterned-face kinda guy, for many moments he did the talking through his eyes. Maybe you could fall in love with his eyes though.
I do prefer to watch this movie while doing house chores because the slow pace gives me assurance that I won't miss a thing.

Age gaps???

I have never watch a drama that made me cry (when master died).I love how liao liao was the best. Her sis is just mwah.Felt bad for Yao Ke but he did injury liao.

i think we all agree that Jiang Yu Da was the best character?!!?

I feel like at the start they were like 'Oh liao liao has the best smell' then they completely dempolished the fact she did it just vanished.

Why does this have to be 500 characters long????????????!??!?!????!!????????¿?????¿??¿?¿?¿????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I like it, But...

I haven't watched the entire series, but I've watched a good 70% of it. I like the concept of the game of Go, but the execution could be a bit better. The commenting helps but then they add warrior-like action sequences which I am guessing is to show the inner player's struggles for the game. Even though it's cool and entertaining, it's very awkward to just add. Maybe break down how Go is played because when they try to explain moves even I'm lost. Acting-wise, I have no problem with the method of acting. Portraying what was written was done well. Writing-wise could have been a lot better for the story concept about the interpretation of GO. I'm not fancy in breaking down what's right or wrong. But mostly I think it's concept portrayal and execution into the story. Some may call it cliche. But when it comes to drama's that does matter to me, it's the execution of the story. Another thing that bothered me was the lack of HIPPA and business ethics. Like when Yao Ke went to the psychologist with the same theoretical sickness and the psychologist practically exposed he had similar patient and treatment method. It's still a violation of privacy. Then the cooking show, if it was real life, they wouldn't allow family members to host or even participate in the competition because it can implicate connections. I notice many dramas that have doctors, business or mental health leads, I found so many violations in ethics and privacy. I like the drama to recommend it? Yes. Overall, I've been enjoying it enough to watch it to forgive some things. Would I re-watch it? I'd say once in a while. It's not a drama I would buy for my collection, but a drama I would watch once in a while. Give it a chance, but if you feel you're not feeling the vibe, find another drama. Overall a 7/10. It doesn't deserve a super low rating but a mid-level rating in my opinion because it's decent in my book to pass. Happy drama watching and hunting.

the use Animation and Live is great

The cast are well liked and believable. The use of animation and live is a great concept. The storyline so far is funny, witty and at time sad. the pressure to win at GO and became a Master must be immense. I am glad that they got into cast members. It enabled a person to understand which direction the Series is going.

If anyone of you all are looking for a bad boy to demean a mindless, weak woman(and call it Romance Drama), this isn't it that type of Series. You well be sorely disappointed. In a way the animation enable me to understand GO. One day I hope to see it played live. The scenery is fantastic. All I can say is that Cheng Liao is a strong minded woman. Good for her!

Cheng Feng Shou is calmer than most Asian fathers I know. If my daughter came to me and said xyz and she was going on a vacation with her boyfriend; there would be a heated debate. If she disobeyed me, her bags would be packed. Shou became star struck and didn't do the right thing. He was right when he told her you are single and you should not stay at a boy's place alone. Everyone knows how bad scandals are could damage ones reputation. Look at Cheng Liao and all she did was get drunk and dance.

There is always has to be a rat(Traitor) in the nest. I really like the concept of this Series. Romance mixed with action and personality is fantastic! The action comes from the game. The only thing I have to say negative so far is that: Sheng Jing Chu creeps me out. They have so much white powder on his face makes him look pale and sickly. He always has a blank look on his face, maybe a Chinese Harry Potter. They have spent too much time on Harry Potter ( Sheng Jing Chu) storyline. When it is actually three romances going on. They could of developed the other two and it would not have distract from the main romance. The twist and turns of this storyline is fantastic, especially the later episodes.

I am sorry to say this but: Jiang Yu Da needs his butt beat. He is immature and a pest. I can't believe Cheng Liao is falling for him. If someone broke my expensive cups, there would be a fight. Jaing and are punks. Neither one of them deserve Cheng Liao. She can do better.

Some of the episodes drag. They could of told the Storyline in 30 episodes instead of 41.

It is a good Series. I enjoyed watching and I will watch it again.

Same old type

I don’t know when these Chinese directors will start to use their brain to show their talents. Their dramas are like copy and paste of old books by changing fullstops and commas. Except introducing the new GO game everything is same as old dramas.
1. Same shameless, pride less cold ML who respects only FL but treats other characters like trash, shameless FL who only knows how to use ML for her benefits but blind when ML in need.
2. ML always revolves around FL but she acts like ML doesn’t exist.
3. In maximum of dramas ML always has high EQ and IQ but his attitude is like having multiple personality. In the starting of the drama he is too official, prideful and respectful but after meeting FL his IQ and EQ drops and his character changes exactly opposite.
4. ML treats FL like she is the only person (woman) left in this planet but the FL treats all men characters socially(sometimes she avoids to be with ML yet ML revolves around her)

cliché

What can i say about it?
In a word cliché
I started this drama because i have watched other go dramas before and loved it but dropping this one on epi 13
Story is just like any other c-drama , haven't seen whole so don't want to comment on it.
but as far i have watched they have tried to forcibly create the moment between the mc.
lot of coincidence are happening which make hard to believe. they have forced special effects in it .
like when go game was underway they put battle scene in it which takes off from the story all of sudden
male lead has color blindness but he can only see the female lead because she gave her candy, wow what a shitty writing
First they tried to make male lead look some legend and just in few scene he was into her restaurant hiding from his dad
Someone teach director that there is something called build up. just by forcibly making some moments doesn't make people feel for the characters

DON'T WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After watching 13 episodes I think that the battle scenes are too extra but other than that, it was kinda good. The acting was okay and the music was lovely. The male lead and female lead looks good together... But honestly I saw some spoiler videos and another girl would come in and ruin their relationship l think? Still not confirmed yet just guessing. The drama will be starting to drag since there are 41 episodes. 3 episodes just for a competition? That’s too much. In my opinion if there were 24 episodes then the drama would be perfect. Overall it’s a good drama. Don’t watch it if your not interested in romance genre drama.
