Revenge drama but in a lighter version

So I started watching this series due to all the music video edits on youtube and I was a little curious about how would it turn out. As usual, it's a revenge drama, and as most the typical Thai dramas contain R*pe scenes, forced slaps, and kisses, this particular drama was in a lighter version. The male lead had that charisma that aura, and I liked his back story, his history, and how he really started from scratch. Although I feel they missed out on some detailing where they showed that the male lead was an MD of a rich company and how did he meet those people and why did they have to help him. There was a s*xual m*lestation in one scene and the male lead had to save the female lead, he started victim-blaming her. Thai Lakorns would never get rid of such stupid unnecessary scenes that always have to blame a female for getting harrased. But anyway, the Female lead here was not sensible and the makers tried to show her as a strong character but unfortunately failed to do so. No matter, what she was, she always needed the help of the male lead in her every step even though she was one of the executives who happens to hold a minimum power but was later "somehow" demoted to just a mere assistant of the male lead. She could see signs of red flags that her step-mom was not a nice lady yet "out of love" she always used to defend her and that really irked me the entire time. Like girl are you stupid? She is literally torturing you and your father(who is also not a very nice man btw) to death and trying to sleep with your " supposed boyfriend", wtf! The step-mom was super cunning and the lord of villain queens! Although she was later punished for her deeds, the female lead really really annoyed me!

Kept me coming back for more!

Wow - what an emotional roller coaster ride this Lakorn has been for me! I really wanted to rate this show higher, especially after watching Donut Dejpongwaranon deliver some excellent acting. Additionally, the story was pretty well-written, particularly the plot centering around how Paul/Poramee exacted his revenge.

However, I did also spend all 18 episodes feeling extremely annoyed for the following reasons:

1) A female lead that was all looks and very little brain. Nai, for most of the show, came across as weak and overly naive. She was either crying, fainting, or choosing to sacrifice herself for her so-called family's happiness. I found myself cursing at the screen many times during scenes with Nai in them. I understand that Nai viewed Khun Net as her benefactor and therefore was unwilling to go against her wishes. Still, one can reasonably expect Nai to at least have some common sense with her interactions with other people. There were a few times when she redeemed herself a little by showing some intelligence or backbone, but those moments did not last long. It was during the last episode that she finally toughened up. Better late than never, I guess.

2) No respite from the villains always having the upper hand. Seriously, the villains in this Lakorn seem to get all the breaks. It would have been better if there were more triumphant moments for the good guys. I had to wait until the last episode to see the bad guys get any retribution.

3) Noble idiocy at the last minute, causing the ending to be less satisfying for me. After everything that the main couple has gone through, I thought I could at least have half of the final episode dedicated to their happy ending. But nope, the show had to throw in another twist, another reason for separation.

Ultimately, I still gave this show a pretty high rating, mainly because each episode kept me at the edge of my seat and kept me coming back for more. I ended up binge-watching this show because I really wanted to see what happened to the main couple and the villains.

The chemistry between Donut and Prapye Theerapat was great, and undeniably, they were a visually striking couple. Prapye is gorgeous; it is too bad that I was not too fond of her character for most of the show. I don't have much to say about her acting skills other than she nailed the crying scenes and looking pretty during them. Throughout the show, she tended to have this wide-eyed look, displaying shock, confusion, innocence, sadness, or happy sweetness. Donut, on the other hand, did a fantastic job with a wide acting range. His micro-expressions were on point, and he emoted so well during the crying scenes. Plus, he's got a killer smile!

Unfortunately, the main couple did not have that many romantic scenes. Despite the near-kisses and longing stares, Paul and Nai only got together towards the end. As for the supporting cast, they also did a good job. Not surprisingly, there were some over-the-top acting for comedic effect. I enjoyed watching the development of the second couple's relationship. Kachane was such a blockhead, so focused on loving Nai, and I have to admire Pat's tenacity in getting her guy. I liked that Kachane was a gentleman all the time, secretly and then finally openly loving Nai but graciously retreated after finding out that Nai loved Paul.

I enjoyed the music selection; between the love songs and instrumental pieces, each one fitted the scene/mood well and evoked my emotions. I was glad that I found the main ones on YouTube.

Probably not a re-watch for me since I don't think I can afford to get my blood pressure up that high again.

Just your average revenge story with a man that had daddy issues. I'm actually kind of bummed that I don't feel the same way that a lot of others feel; but I think this show didn't really meet any of my expectations which kind of sucks. lol. But I mean to each their own, absolutely. It was a decent revenge drama but nothing different than I've ever seen; except with "new" faces. The ML wants revenge for being abandoned and blah blah; hates that his daddy didn't love him and in reality he never knew the truth. The FL was hard working, tough, amazing and honestly, she deserved more than what she got. She was belittled and treated so bad and the ML was still a jerk to her and I hate that. Like YOU also don't know what she's going through. It was strictly business for the most part which was cool but also like intense with the revenge and it got repetitive and just straight up tiring. The acting was okay, everyone is swooning over Donut but I have to say he didn't do great, even when he was trying to be bad I was like ??? lol and he was better off a SML but that's just me. Prapye did amazing with her emotions, she was hard working and I liked the best friend and the doctor and stuff but in reality, the show was just a massive ball of misunderstanding and the bad guys trying too hard and etc. Overall, I wouldn't rewatch it, I kind of wanted to drop it and I never drop shows tbh. Rarely, but it just fell flat for me. I was disappointed, it wasn't even overly dramatic in my opinion, it was just not there for me. But I mean, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special.

"Fah Mee Tawan" (which means: The Sky has the Sun) is a story of betrayal, vengeance, gratitude, heartbreak and the power of love. It follows the very smart businessman Paul Yang who comes back to Thailand after many years and has taken on a secret identity to join the Crown Diamond company that originally belonged to his mother who was betrayed by his father. He is enraged and thirsty for revenge, a shadow that have followed him his whole life. The victims in his plan of revenge are his father who threw him and his mother away and abandoned them when he was a child- a traumatizing memory. The other victim is his fathers wife Net who he manipulates to get what he wants through charm and seduction...and lastly their adopted daughter Nainapha (Nai) who distrusts him the second he steps his foot into the Crown Diamond Company. Paul and Nai will have to deal with their differences and their undenyable attraction towards each other. My heart hurt for both characters. Their past kept on haunting them, and they only could find bliss and peace with each other. Their romance was such a strong and central part in this intense story and i managed to binge-watch this drama in three days just because i was so invested in their electric romance!

I absolutely loved the OST, especially "Because I Love You" whenever Nai and Paul were together. Ahhhh their chemistry is just so darn good! Their first kiss on the beach while it was raining almost killed me! The actor portraying Paul is such a sexy kisser!

Office Romance with a Twist

For a revenge themed Lakorn, this drama lacked intensity in the way that was delightfully present in the more explosive, similarly themed dramas like Hua Jai Sila and Ra Raerng Fai. That said, it was nevertheless an engaging watch. There was simply something about it that had me flying through the episodes at great speed, even when plot-wise, not much happened in the earlier episodes. Because it's a Lakorn, a fair share of the usual nutty characters was in attendance in the mist of the more reasonable, likable characters. However, there was semblance of logic and I considered it relatively tamed compared to the few Lakorns I've seen.

Abandoned by his father at a young age, Poramee (Donut Phattharapon Dejpongwaranon) returned as an adult hell-bent on pursuing revenge. In his quest, he set out as "Paul" to seduce his stepmother, Net, who played a major role in their family’s demise. I'm in agreement that this was wrong on so many levels, and thankfully, Paul did not cross the line in the end. But it was interesting to see how deceptively Paul melded into Net's world using his charms, in order to advance his plans for revenge. With Net's help, he landed a job at Crown Diamond, his father's jewelry company. As he worked his way up the corporate ladder at the company, he slowly fell in love with the adoptive daughter of his father/stepmother, Nai (Prapye Ramida Theerapat), a person he somewhat resented for having taken his place.

Though he hid his identity with purpose, Paul's anguish was evident when his father did not recognize him. Unbeknownst to Paul, his father, Paramee, had long realized that the person who truly loved him was his first wife, Paul's mother, the one he had tossed away cruelly, along with his son. Paramee was living with regrets, longing and searching for his ex-wife and son, with his only source of happiness now being Nai, whom he loved like a real daughter. I had no sympathy for this man though, both for his past conduct and for his passivity and tolerance for a vicious woman like Net. As beautiful as Net was, she was rotten to the core. I applaud the actress for her excellent portrayal of a greedy, self-centered, promiscuous socialite. And for that matter, I was disappointed at Nai as well, for indulging to Net's every whim. Having led to believe Net as her savior, Nai grew up worshiping Net, when in actuality, Net caused the accident that killed Nai's biological parents. As this was, of course, hidden from Nai, it was reasonable that she would love this person whom she considered kind and like a mother. But her willful devotion for a blatantly horrible person like Net, to the detriment of her own life, tested my patience. I liked the actress; I thought she was a better actor than Donut. But her character was extremely frustrating at times for not standing up for herself, and especially, accepting a marriage proposal from her scumbag of a boyfriend AFTER he tried to drug and rape her, all so, in her twisted logic, she could express her gratitude toward her adoptive family. This was a major flaw in the story, no matter the reason, and I was so disappointed that she allowed herself to be treated this way, when otherwise, her character was likable, in the way she carried herself with grace, sweetness, and with the gravitas of a fair and level-headed executive.

It should be noted that except for sporadic charged moments, there wasn't much progress in the romance department for half of the drama; though I was pleased with their interactions all the same (especially whenever the song Tum Mai Taung Tur by Instinct came on). Only when Paul was revealed to be a major shareholder of Crown Diamond, did things began to pick up overall, driving the story forward (and also the part of the drama that graced us with Donut looking mighty fine in his executive suits). This was the first of two major turning points in the drama, and one where Paul and Nai's boss/employee relationship reversed. And interestingly, Paul turned out to be one mean boss, like making unreasonable demands on purpose or relegating her to secretary duties. But not so unforgiving that you wanted to strangle him, like the time he scolded her for upsetting a sleazy client but when the guy tried to sexually assault her, Paul smacked him with a wine bottle, heh.

Though I felt he was lacking in some ways as a leading man and for the type of character he played, when Donut delivered, he was amazing. I especially enjoyed witnessing his rage, or when he was seething in silence, in defense of or because of Nai. The other compelling part of the story was when Paul mistakenly believed his father ordered the hit on his adoptive father and rashly kidnapped Nai as retribution. I have to admit though that the built up to get to this point was flimsy, but I liked watching the fallout in any case. This was in contrast to some of the other story arcs, where the development may have been strong but the payoff was a major letdown; like in the way Net found out that Paul was actually her stepson. Because it was one sided, we were deprived of the perfect opportunity for a fierce showdown. Or in some instances, the rushed editing took away an otherwise perfect scene, that if left to play its full course could have had more emotional impact.

From experience, I've learned that as bizarre as the story may get in Lakorns, if you stay the course and stick around until the end, you will be rewarded with a happy ending. And this one was no different in that respect. In conclusion, Fah Mee Tawan wasn't the most exciting drama out there. But despite its lack of intensity, it sustained my interest and was charming in its own way, thanks to the leads. I encourage you to watch it and see for yourself.

ok this was good. the overall was good but it was bullshit from ep 11 till ep 17 in the least. I LITERALLY PULLED OUT SOME OF MY HAIR I WAS SO FRUSTRATED AT ONE POINT but it was worth it cuz i loved the ending. i loved how everything was revealed in the end. im telling u people came forward at once to accuse the antagonist ugh it was so peaceful
the plot was good and well acted out. i loved the mmc. he knew what he was doin (we love a fierce man who has power) and its the fact i guessed he might have a company back in hong kong cuz bruh he was raised by a wealthy man over there AND MY GUESS WAS ACTUALLY CORRECT AH
the fl was so beautiful but so dumb my god i couldve kickassed her i was so mad. like besti got bullied and assualted by her adoptive mother and still believed that woman was a saint like how could u mam (dont give me bs crap like u wouldnt know uve never been abused babe ik. ) there is a limit to dumbness and she exceeded it but my girlie was sassy and thats what i care about
all in all this is a thai lakorn mam throw all the logic out the window and watch it for a great experience. its worth it i swear

best drama and great actors

firstly, I would say I'm surprised that the male lead wasn't violent/or even abusive as many main leads in Thai dramas
this drama was the most beautiful drama I ever seen
there is excellent actors(no disappointment) and an intriguing storyline
the chemistry between the main leads was the best
the end is worth watching too
but you do need to be a bit patient for the female lead as she is very naïve and soft hearted but it is something you will understand as you watch.
i could feel every emotion through the screen and it made me feel like I was one of the actors and i could be so frustrated that I had murder on my mind but the ending is the most satisfying part to watch

EVERYTHING, i love it.

I finished this drama in one and a half days, so team no sleep. haha. but let me tell you, if you haven't watched this drama. go watch it! everything was amazing, from casts to ost. this drama is different from the ones I watched because it evolves with "diamond", jewelry instead of regular business like other dramas. the main couple is very cute together, hopefully they do another drama together cause I will definitely watch it. of course there were some unnecessary scenes, but it was ok for me since that's how it is haha. OST is amazing! i love Big Ass song in here <3

SPOILER ALERT: my heart broke in ep 14 since Paul (Donut) uncle, Ken, died and he saw :((( let me tell you, I never felt so sad but this got me in my feelings badddd. I felt so sad cause his uncle was basically the only one left he had.

for me, they could've added another 2 eps about Paul getting his brain surgery, then going back to Hong Kong to settle his uncle business then come back to Thailand. maybe its just me but yeah. They also could've added more scenes about Nai's brother too, would love to see him more in the drama too since he didnt want anything to do with Nai until he saw that people were going to kill Paul and her.

NOTE: does anyone know Paul's uncle name? I know its Ken Yang, but what is the actual name, love his acting, made me emotional haha. thank you <3

GO WATCH IT NOW!

Too much lakorn's flaws, only Donut shine in this series :)

Revenge lakorn: the ML, son of a jewelry CEO, returns to take his revenge in his father's company. The father abandoned his wife and son 10 years earlier, for the benefit of his mistress. They both subsequently adopted a daughter (FL), who became the heiress to the group.

PROS:
+ a very good ML, Donut, mysterious and charming. Donut brings to life, a complex, tortured character, and he does it with great talent. He carries the whole series on his shoulders!!

CONS
- I don't question the talent of Prapye the actress, but I hate the FL's character, weak, gullible, who is bullied by everyone without reacting (only knows how to cry) => very very annoying. She was supposed to lead a big company??? She obviously doesn't have the skills!! Almost untill the end, she is stupid, blindly trusts the wrong people, and is cruel to the ML she supposedly loves. ((╬ಠิ﹏ಠิ))
- I don't even like the CL2's characters either: an idiotic and idle doctor (he's not very busy for a doctor who works in a hospital) and the best friend who is also an idiot, but hyper aggressive. Each of them has a crush on someone who doesn't like them, but they stubbornly persist anyway.

USUAL LAKORN'S FLAWS
- Overdramatic tone with long pauses on gazes.
- Permanent music at full volume
- This series gives the impression that Thai men are roosters, ready to fight for anything and everything :(, also ready to take advantage of any woman within reach (that doesn't make you want to go to Thailand :( However, many of the fight scenes are ridiculous (bad blows, lots of screaming, women watching helplessly,...).
- Too many supporting characters are caricatural: the ridiculous Marketing Team, which respects no hierarchy, does more gossip than work, etc. / The villain's lover, always plotting, with sly expressions / the father's mistress-second wife, ambiguous, who doesn't know what she wants except money, aggressive, stupid, who doesn't even pretend, ...

=> To see only for Donut, remarkable!
****************************************************************************************************

i actually watched the show because of the main actress and she doesn't disappoint. I really love her acting as always. One thing that i like the most about the story is how the female lead constantly reminds someone's worth., that message was very clear through out the series but i don't know why but i feel so exhausted after watching the whole drama. The lead guy is a real ahole. And how can he change and realize his mistakes on the last episode ? Final ep did not even help me feel good about the male lead.

less intense than the usual Lakorn, the FL can't act but overall good chemistry and compelling story

this was one of the less intense and dramatic Lakorns i have ever watched, yet, of course, it was still plenty dramatic. i really enjoyed the determination of the main male lead and i loved the actor's performance. however, i cannot say the same thing for the main female lead. it just seemed like her face was often expressionless. she looked pretty when she cried but there was barely any emotion in her scenes, which lessened the impact of the couple's scenes. i also wished the main couple had more scenes together in the beginning that lasted longer and amounted to more than staring at each other.

other than that, i found the main female lead's character very frustrating because she never spoke up or fought back. i get the filial piety aspect of her behavior but it just made her look suppressed and weak. she was also always fainting, crying, and in danger, which just gets boring, you know. nevertheless, the main leads had great chemistry.

the story was compelling but sometimes it was progressing so slowly. also, the resolution didn't make much sense. i don't know, i feel like the main lead's story doesn't really justify a lot of his actions. especially his hatred for and jealousy of his step-sister who was like 5 when she was adopted and surely didn't know what the hell was going on.. it was a bit much and unreasonable.

like many other Lakorns, this drama was poorly-made and had a low budget, had a goof main storyline that wasn't executed very well, was full of plot holes, etc., etc... but i did still enjoy it. just wished the main female lead had more self-respect.
