Shark is a dark drama about man who "comes" back from the dead on a mission of vengeance.

I really enjoy watching every moment of Shark including the ending. The ending didn't surprise me. The ending left a lot of unanswered questions. It gave me hope that perhaps what I thought might have happen didn't happen because Yi Soo and Yoshimura pulled that same act before. (But that's wishful thinking. I guess read more it can only be answered with a Shark 2: Downfall of the Gaya Empire or Shark 2: The Real Jos are Here.)

I wish the writer would have spent more time developing and strengthening other characters rather than focusing on Yi Soo and Hae Woo. I understand they are the lead characters, but a few moments I felt the others were mere props in the drama, not supporting characters. My other wish was that they change the title to Legend of Orpheus. Legend of Orpheus is a better fitted title than Shark.

Before you spend twenty episodes watching this great drama, I recommend you read about the story of Orpheus. The Greek mythology is not a summary of Shark, but it gave me a good idea of why the writer choose to add the myth to the drama.

The similarities: Yi Soo and Orpheus
Orpheus was a poet, prophet, and musician who can make rocks and trees dance when he play his lyre. Yi Soo made people dance to his "tune of music" by manipulating them.
Orpheus and Yi Soo travelled through hell to get their loves back, but lost them when they look back. (Yi Soo lost his love because Hae Woo married another Joon Young.)
After their lost, Yi Soo and Orpheus did not seek the love and affection of no woman. One story said he seek the affection of younger boys. In the drama, Dong Soo implied twice that Yi Soo was gay. (Perhaps he was bisexual). Yi Soo had many opportunities to rekindle the flame, but quench it.

The official soundtrack was great. The song, Between Heaven and Hell by Boa, painted a picture about the love between Yi Soo and Hae Woo.

Shark, the Legend of Orpheus, is not for everyone. Some people would be disappointed at the ending. But I am one of those people who enjoyed watching this revenge drama. I will see it again.

I just finished watching this drama like 2 minutes ago. A lot of people didn't like the ending, but I did. I couldn't think of other ways to end it. This drama, I really enjoyed it because it's not only revenge, but you learn about other things along the way. Well you will need to watch it to know what I mean. This was a good drama in my opinion and I read more would watch it again, but not a for a while because then if I watch it a right away it will lose it meaning. So maybe in a few years or so. There were some part that was draggy, but overall it was a good drama. But I wish they would focus more on the other characters other than Hae Woo and Yi Soo. This drama was kinda similar to Bad guy, but in the end it was a lot different. I enjoyed the soundtrack. I have to admit after watching this drama I as curious about the Legend of Orpheus, so I am going to read it about it. Well at least I learned something from this drama is that Revenge is not a way to solve a problem.

Both are great revenge drama's, made by the same by director & writer (Park Chan Hong & Kim Ji U). Resurrection is the better one though imo, with a more tightly woven plot, better character development and overall much better acting!

Same actor, same story, same vibe. Only the cast is different. Moral of the story: if you're looking for a dark, vengeful plot, always look for Kim Nam Gil.

Kim Nam Gil, woah, that dude can act! Son Ye Jin, amazing as always. The whole cast was great actually, but it was a too long. Still, I really liked it, except the last 10 minutes, i will erase the end from my mind . :(

After having watched 'Resurrection' (by the same writer & producer) this drama largely fails in comparison. Mostly this is due to the acting though and not the production.

Kim Nam Gil while charismatic had a tendency to overact and pose wayy to much, and wasn't able to bring the intensity that was required in the more dramatic scenes due to him being stuck in his "Cool-introverted mindset." Yes having a good voice + looks is a plus, but if you cant merge that with making your character believable and real it's of no use.

And even worse, we have Lee Soo Hyuk... What the hell is he doing acting? Seriously his character was soo important to the series, yet all LSH did was pose? No range in his facial expressions and his voice was the same all the time.

Really that's what brought the quality down for me. Story-wise it was very good, although I felt it was slightly too long and could be cut down 5-6 eps (True for most KDramas though so I wouldn't pass that as a flaw).

All in all I'd give it a 7.2 out 10, but if you’re on the look for an excellent revenge drama, I'd definitely recommend Resurrection (2005)!

omg I can't believe I didn't write anything at all regarding this drama her even though I 've watched it when it was airing... First off all I think the whole drama was perfect! Ofcourse that's only my opinion hence not everyone agrees with it.. hint hint look below.... and second of all I think that some people have to realize that good dramas isn't only about fluffy happy stuff... Just saying that..

Just finished this drama, and I have to say, the writers really screwed up in a HUGE way by having Hae Woo married off before Yi Soo and her can have a chance of getting back together again. The ending was fitting on account of what Yi Soo had done, but I can only give it a 4 for a rating because of her being married off and as well for a jackass husband who, right away went after her when Yi Soo went missing, he was selfish and didnt have respect for her or his friend, Yi Soo to even care to wait to see if he was still alive, he betrayed Yi Soo and Hae Woo by constantly pushing her till she finally gave in to marrying him. There is no spoiler here as its all in the synopsis. I have to say, shame on the despicable and twisted minded writers for having her married off without them having a chance of getting back together again...

Uhmm I’m not trying to jump down anyones throat. You seem really worked up about this, i’m not. I never said she being married was a spoiler but i do admit i misunderstood when he goes missing. However what i said was and i quote “ now i know all these events and critical turns of this drama”. You describing events in the drama is a spoiler to ME..
Tbh i can see that we have very different views and i don't think we will get anywhere in this conservation. Example“ she didn't deserve Yi Soos, he didn't love him enough, if she had loved him enough, she would have stayed single and kept him fully in her heart instead of giving her heart, even partially, to another man” I don’t agree. She thought he was dead ! What was she to do in that situation ? Would you rather have her be single for the rest of her LIFE?? . “Divorce is wrong, so if she had left her husband ....she would have been even more despicable” tbh i find this to be very narrow minded maybe because i’m more open minded. Whatever the case I’m not going to say You’re wrong or I’m right. We are just different.

Yes, tbh, in my most humble opinion, if she truly loved him with all her heart, yes, she should have stayed single for the rest of her life. The Bible states that except for adultery, divorce is very wrong, and even in adultery it is still wrong, but is an excuse for a divorce. God only allows for divorce in the case of adultery because of the hardness of peoples' hearts, when there's divorce for adultery sake, there's no room for forgiveness and for the working of God in peoples' hearts. So if you say I'm narrow minded, you're saying that about God, and I'd be so very careful in saying that. So yes, in that regard, we are so very different for sure, I believe what God says, and I rever Him too much to be any other way but as you call it, narrow minded. Go ahead, enjoy the drama, I only said one there, there's waaaaaay more in the drama that I didn't choose to say, the drama is a spoiler in itself in that it is crappy right from the get go. Other than her getting married, she is a very good girl, like I said, the writers really screwed up when they made this foul drama... Love should win out in ALL aspects, it's not weak, selfish, or conditional, I'd love to know where the love is in this drama, or the romance for that matter. These writers by having her getting married off really don't know what real love is... All of this, except for God and divorce, of course, is all in my most humble opinion, except for what love is.

I'm on ep 14, and the storyline is pretty intense... Btw, is there any dress code in Korean legal institutions? I mean, how can anyone take seriously a prosecutor in a tiny little shorts...
