Don't come for the romance

Lee Jong Suk plays a young many with an attitude that seems he doesn't even care about swimming. Pressure can take enjoyment out of anything. Seo In Guk is a young man that has basically nothing and needs to work for everything he gets. The movie does a good job with the bromance, showing how they become better once they become friends.

Kwan Yu Ri - I felt that her part was poorly written and not very well acted, if I'm honest. I couldn't see how either of them could fall in love with her and she just seemed too shallow.

We get to see Lee Jong Suk's charm, which is always a bonus.
Seo In Guk with physical comedy and over-the-top use of his face and his hands, just wonderful. He does goofy well (as further evidenced by Shopping King Louie and King of High School).

I enjoyed the swimming scenes, as well as the rare opportunity for an overbearing parent to turn around.

A light-hearted bromance with a healthy rivalry

There really is something about the friendship developed by the 2 characters. Two guys with different backgrounds and family relationships interested in the same sport and the same woman. My taste in movies generally revolves in friendship rather than romantic relationships. Initially, I was hesitant watching this because it might focus too much in their rivalry for their love interest. But I was relieved that it focused more on their development as athletes and as friends.

I watched this in 2021 so the trope was kind of common already. Its edge from others would be the healthy rivalry between the MCs and the heart-warming friendship between the three crackheads. It was funny, but there were some filler scenes that were supposed to be "comedic" that I didn't understand. Maybe because I am still quite unfamiliar with Korean culture.

The cast and their acting was great. I mean, the MCs are big names in the industry so I kinda expected it from the film.

Music was average. It wasn't distracting and it added greater emotions to the scenes. Though I didn't find a song that made me want to search what their titles were and add them to my playlist.

I usually don't like rewatching movies cause a busy student ain't got time for that. I could rewatch the film when I'm feeling down, but I think other films would make a better job of cheering me up.

Overall, it was a decent film. I suggest watching it when you're feeling down since it also cheered up my mood.

This is basically two hours of fujoshi fan service which would have been fine for a guilty pleasure viewing but this one made me want to down a gallon of bleach to get the taste out. Its way too crude slapstick, but you won't even notice after a while thanks to all the dick jokes, butt slaps, and gratuitous scenes (seriously no one ever wore a shirt for the entire length of the movie tbh lol) which again none of that I'm against. Except the crude slapstick kept getting cruder!

They even somehow added a flimsy plot about the swim team going to manila and encountering the most ridiculously hilarious  European bullies who could not have been more corny. And an even more flimsy plot about both ljs and sig falling for some chick who was more lame than the cardboard cut out supporting characters, when it's pretty obvious they're only into each other, ffs at one point SIG even introduces LJS to HIS DEAD FATHER instead of the girl like wtf!

Anyway, I gotta say I felt bad for SIG and LJS. They deserve better.
