Good ending but …

MORAL OF THE STORY: Do NOT enter a location when you see people wearing PPEs. (If you are a nurse, you should know this already.)

I applaud the screenwriter for not shying away from killing a major character. There are very few screenwriters who are brave enough to do it, often screenwriters choose the "they happily lived ever after" route.

However, as the intro to this post hinted, I do not approve the sudden stupidity of a major character just to get that character terminally ill. Go Mi Ho was a nurse. She is intelligent and full of wisdom. Where did her intelligence AND WISDOM go in the cave sinkhole episode? Then after that episode, Mi Ho became intelligent and full of wisdom again.

In that one episode, she suddenly acted a hero when it was never part of her character, and after that episode, she never acted a hero either. She is intelligent AND WISE. She took calculated risks. She was no hero, before or after. But in that one episode, she acted a dumb hero which led to her getting exposed to deadly radiation.

Sure. There are people who would have done the same as she did but that is a rare thing most especially when the people escaping a disaster are wearing PPEs, and you happen to know as well as corrupt and evil the operator of that cave. All for what? For that character she saved to only die WITHOUT contributing anything to the plot after he was saved.

That episode. Go Mi Ho suddenly throwing her intelligence and wisdom out the window was only meant to get her terminally ill. No more, no less. It was very weak. They could've have used a contaminated bottled water or fish planted by Choi Do Ha, or some other method other than letting her do something out of her character.

People rarely do something like what she did unless they have a very, very, very strong conviction which Go Mi Ho did not possess. She took calculated risks for her husband, that was the entire driving force behind her. Her saving people begins and ends with her working as a nurse, outside of it she didn't do anything.

Again, good job on not being afraid of killing a major character. But very bad job on how to get that character terminally ill.

From 10 stars, it's down to 8 stars.

Ending fell FLAT......

This kdrama actually started off fine but mid-way into the story, I felt that the issue with Dr Seo's missing papers were lost amid issues within the "organization". I actually reached a point where I wasn't getting the whole point of the story.
Added to this the "big mouth" and "big mouse" monikers which left me confused as to what the title was.

Action wise, Big Mouth was more fast paced compared to Adamas, which was also airing that same week. But the push and pull as to who was Big Mouse kept leaving the viewer hanging.

I don't know why, but with Kdramas, endings are more often than not, very disappointing. Big Mouth's was no different. The last episodes all seemed like they were trying to fit everything within a 60minute time frame. When Miho got exposed to radiation, she didn't look sick and her passing actually felt very rushed. Changho also lacked emotion during this scene wherein he should have been devastated. Instead, he was surprisingly calm in his acceptance of Miho's fate.

These issues aside, I liked Lee Jong Suk here better than when I saw him in W. Visually, both him and Yoonah looked good together and hopefully, they will portray the roles of a couple in a romcom in the future.

Enjoy the show but dont expect too much it's not as powerful as it seems

First of all I'm little bit emotional right now bc I just finished the last episode. And I'm really PISSED OFF. like seriously guys. Why did you put everthing in last five seconds and nothing happened in the last five episodes? and HOW COULD YOU KILL MIHO! She was my favorite character, I wouldnt be this sad and mad if chango died and believe me I love him too. I mean I always complain about absurd survival of the main characters in kdramas when they should die in the end but man! dont touch miho. "Getting FOUR STAGE cancer by exposure to toxic water for just five minutes" is this even a thing. The worst thing about her death was the Chango's lack of reaction like after all those dramatic acting in prison, did actor's acting capacity is over?
The disease process was also very insensitive and drone. They were like okey we're wrapping this up she has cancer, no one do anything for her treatment, just give her one piece of pill and let her die, next.
Other than that I like the ending scene where mayor's death but they shouldve done that before. If you're gonna play dirty why wait. Anyways it's really dissapointing that they left a lot of things in the air. At the beginning this show gave me a lot of preason break vibe (its my all time fav) but lets be honest they didnt/couldnt pull that of. There some other stuff about story and twist but too lazy to write them. I'm here bc I just wanted to get on my nerves anyways.
Over all I enjoyed watching this even though... Would I rewatch it sometime no bc I know all the secrets now and that doesnt make me wonder anymore and It would just make me mad bc of the lazy ending.

Almost a masterpiece if it weren’t for that sloppy rushed ending

Sep 17, 2022

Another KDRAMA that I would have given a solid 10/10 if it weren’t for the disappointing ending. Big mouth had the greatest potential of being the kdrama of this year. Like episodes 1-12 were so fantastic and solid. I feel like I was so hooked into it and looking forward for the twist and turns of the plot. But episodes 13-14 became a little underwhelming then ep 15 was above average then ep 16 was just literal wtf. I feel like my whole reaction to ep 16 was just frustration with the writers and directors. They could have written and wrapped the story more decently. I feel like everything became so out of place. The pacing of the timelines were so jagged and jumpy. Honestly, I will just go in the bad first cause I haven't been this frustrated in a while. I think it is because I really loved this drama. Such a good series, but the ending really just didn’t serve at all.

As for the good, this is Lee Jong Suk we talking about so of course his acting is fantastic. I love the cast from his wife to the psychopath prisoners. They were all lovely, even the villains. They delivered well in their acting cause I really hated all of them.

Yea, honesty ep 1-12 solid 10/10
ep 13-14 solid 9/10
ep 15 7.5/10
ep 16 I am not even gonna bother rating it

worth a watch

Expections before starting this drama was high because of the stunning cast. Overall it started really well but in the middle there had some up's and downs and dragging and ended really well.

Who is the real big mouth..? That question is the main curiosity factor of this drama at first. It's keep rotating from one person to another. Coming to plot, The whole life of our hero Lawyer park chang ho becomes upside down when he accept a murder case. The drama slowly shift it's gear and move to very interesting from there. From E01 to E08 it's brilliantly narrated but after that there was some slow in the narration and also felt some unwanted dragging in screenplay. But still there were some scenes which keep you there.

From E11, it started to get more exciting again. Even though there were some drag in the story telling but still it's never get bored. For the last 2 episodes it completely regained it's strength with a very good ending... Satisfied with everything.

Lee Jung suk was nailed it as Park Chang ho. Also Yoo Na did a great job as his loving wife and played a very matured character. Also some other notable superb performances from the cast.

Big mouth is definitely a worth watch drama. Don't know how you feel when you watch all epi at once. But it never disappoint you that easily. Some dramas you can never judge before it end. I also labelled this as boring drama after E10. But i was wrong. Lee jung suk and Kim Yoo Na was really good with their chemistry ❤️ try it

Hooking Drama but disappointing ending

The Drama was overall good, the story had me hooked. Who is Big Mouse really? The intrigues during the drama and even the backstory of the important caractars. Every aspect was perfect. The cast was an absolute perfect choice. There wasn't a lot of OST, which could have ruined the mood. So id should deserve a higher rating, but the ending.
The last episode, espacially the last 10 to 15 minutes were rushed.
I'm not shure how big of a time skip there was and how Changho executed everythig (don't wanna spoil). So there is a gap, which I think should have been filled.
But still an overall good drama.

love this drama except for the end scene

the story was quite exciting and suspenseful. however, the ending of a villain in the last 10 minutes should not be so easy and the big boss's wife deserved to live a long and happy life. And about the main character, his acting is superb and the best fit for this role. I found this drama interesting, mysterious, and full of suspense, and family bonds. Only one thing disappointed me the big boss's wife, helped her husband till her last breath. & what she got?? She left her husband in pain. The makers could do better, I would like to give 10 ratings, just because of the ending I would say 9.

This felt like an origin story

I am not a big fan of dramas set in prison but it was Lee Jong Suk's drama and I HAD to watch it. He has never ever let me down with his drama choices, and I am so glad that Big Mouth was no exception (despite the setting). The entire cast of the drama was incredible, it was absolutely amazing to watch. Lee Jong Suk and Kim Joo Hun stole the show. It also had great background score and cinematography, which was a great to watch on large screen.

This drama had a slow build up and layed it's cards slowly with each episode. The bad guys were bad through and through, which was frustrating to watch but promised an equally satisfying end. Something that we all waited for week after week. Unfortunately, that's where it lost me. Even though it is not a bad ending in any sense of the way, it was still not the pay off we were waiting for.

Regardless... It was fun to watch Lee Jong Suk learn to be in power and figure out who big mouse can be in the process. Im Yoon Ah, Kwak Dong Yeon, Ok Ja Yeon were also a pleasure to watch. I really liked how Im Yoon Ah was also given equally powerful storyline and they let her shine on her own throughout the drama.

If you are looking to watch a drama in this type of genre I definitely recommend it. It was a good watch. Great acting, great story and Lee Jong Suk looked *chef's kiss* as always

-- MILD SPOILER WARNING --

Like I said, the story was building up to something for at least first 10 episodes. So I was waiting to pick up its pace and Lee Jong Suk to dance on top of these evil people's head by the end of this show.. so I don't know why and how Lee Jong Suk's character ended up behaving like a puppet while people around him did stuff for him. Even Im Yoon Ah's character did more than he did by the end while he sat and watched.

It unfortunate because his character started with being a puppet to the situation he got sucked in and ended up being a background character in his own show (even when he was on the screen for 80% of the drama). He was just *there* and that's where the show lost me along with its main character. Instead of letting him shine, they let him sit around and do nothing.

There were so many lose ends, charcters, and storyline that were introduced in the drama but nothing came of most of it. For instance: what happened to the serial killer dude? They dropped his name so often I was wondering when he will come and how they manage him along with everything else by the end? Also, they killed off charcters in the first half and literally forgot they existed by the end.

The death of doctor dude even started the story and I don't even remember what happened to him. Same with the wife killer who didn't even get punishment for his crime. What was even the point.

By the last 10 mins the drama still had major chunk of the loose ends and they just showed it all in montage??? like??? That was at least a 4 more episode pay off. While Lee Jong Suk did something, but unfortunately he did nothing. Even the main villain didn't get the end he deserved. It was unfortunate.

I really hope they bring serial killer dude as a main villain in the next season and I hope there is one. This drama felt like an origin story of Park Chang Ho. He was a victim of circumstances and random people doing things for/to him. Why did he not get to shine in his own show?

They need a new season to actually show the concept of Big Mouse (which was not shown at all in my opinion). Obviously, like everyone, I hate how they had to kill off one of the main characters in the last ep. But I think it was needed in order to give Chang Ho the story back as he had become a side charcter in his own drama. I just wish they make a new season with new characters and let Lee Jong Suk shine for all of it.

Rushed Ending

Reasons why you should watch this:
1. The Cast. There were no weak links and Lee Jong Suk & Yoona's chemistry + acting really hit it out of the park! I loved Kim Joo Heon in previous projects so I was excited to see him get a meatier role...his acting was amazing because I hated his guts in the 2nd half of the series.
2. I would love to see Yoona act as a mafia boss. She looked incredibly cool in that fish farm scene!
3. The death of a major character. It always has so much more emotional impact than writing off a minor character. It was rushed though. I don't know if it's because they were vague with the timeline, but one of the main characters seemed to die off waaaay faster than all the other people with the same illness did.
4. Redemption arcs. I think only 2 characters redeemed themselves, but boy was the journey worth it! I went from hating Gong Ji Hoon for the majority of the series to rooting for him.
5. No silly love triangle. Just a married couple who commit to loving each other through thick & thin. Also, a huge plus is the supportive wife trope!

Cons:
1. Suuuuper rushed ending. Literally wrapped the whole series up in 6 mins. Didn't even really get to see the bad guy suffer.
2. Middle episodes dragged a bit. Maybe if they didn't spend so long on dragging out the plot, they've would've given a carefully plot out finale.
3. The amount of times LJS had to scream "Who are you?" or some iteration of it. Do the writers really think it adds value? Which villain would voluntarily offer up their identity? I also got super fed up with all his arrogance in the prison. As if he could really outsmart Big Mouse. I was confused by all his "traps" for Big Mouse -- did anyone understand what he was trying to do? They didn't really explain what he did exactly besides calling them "traps".
4. The long buildup & quick resolution (I'm thinking it's characteristic of this drama). The writers constantly reminded us that the prison warden was against the new Big Mouse, yet he was suddenly on Big Mouse's side without complaint. I thought I missed an episode or something.

Overall: great acting, potentially great script if they didn't fall short here and there (especially when it counts, aka the finale), but no explanation for big moves & the lightning quick resolutions after extended buildups.

big mouse a scam drama

big mouse was amazing in the first half , it made the audience thrilled and root for the protagonists to destroy the villain then after he got out from jail everything went downhill even lee jong suk acting lost it spark it was like he was a fashion model making his runway here and there, it felt like he was not emotionally invested what surprised was yoona on the other hand she started clumsily but from ep 3 till the finale , its as if she was possesed by go miho , the devotion, the love and longing that she showed was remarkable honeslty i never finished one of her dramas but i will surely check her upcoming works .she is one of my fave idol actress now along with iu and eunji. the rest of cas were good too.
as for the music it was bland.
story was a scam, miho s death is all i remember now. no big mouse

Everything was going according to plan until it wasn't

This drama had the right pacing up until the last episode. Now I will spoil things here so please don't read if you want to go in completely blind into this show.

The premise, the characters and twists were so incredibly fun to watch. This was a true binge worthy show, as in I couldn't help butt click next episode from the start.

ML is just impossible not to root for. At the start he's just a good guy, if a bit naive, in a bad situation and you genuinly feel for him and want him and his family to be ok. He actually stays genuinly good just not so gullible anymore. That is just so refreshing to see. It would have been so easy to make him become an evil crimelord but he stayed true to his nature and I loved that. In fact I have no qualms that his ending is not 100% happy.

But the ending of this show was just really rushed. The resolution of all lose ends was presented to us, the audience, in a sort of montage right after everything went wrong and it felt jarring. I wish they had given us a proper resolution of things. Because even if the loose ends were tied up in some way or another, because it's just a series of scenes presented to us, we don't have time to process or feel satisfaction. It was like having this delicious entres and when we were ready for the main course they just shoved it down our throats in like five minutes. It was truly a failure in 'show don't tell'. This was what we were waiting for, for every bad guy to lose and us to saviour it. You made us watch poor ML suffer, get beaten, tortured, drugged, kidnapped, framed and lose the most precious thing to him and you're not going to let us see the motherf responsible people rightfully get their just desserts for more than 2 minutes? Um no. I want to see that happen in slow motion, thanks.

This rating is because of everything that happened before the resolution. The series is good, and I overly enjoyed it. I do not think the ending ruins it. But it could have been another Flower of Evil level sort of series if they had handled the ending better. Just so close it's upsetting they missed the mark by a bit.

Overall this show is so so good and addictive and every character is amazing, but that ending, even if it's positive was not handled properly.

Enjoyed it, but ending felt a bit rushed.

I just finished watching the last episode and I enjoyed it!

Likes:
- Park Chang Ho (Lee Jong Suk)'s acting (OF COURSEE!!!)
- I liked that the kept the drama realistic, in the ending, when the wife died, it made sense because she had last stage cancer, and it would have been really unrealistic for her to not have died, it was sad though
- Storyline wasn't too bad i guess,

Dislikes:
- The first episode I didn't really like, but afterwards it did get better
- ngl kinda still wish Jerry was Big Mouth ? buttttt its okay
- Kinda felt like the ending was rushed, like sooo much happed at the end, things that I wish would have happened instead over 2 epsiodes instead of one
- also felt like Choi Do Ha deserved a worser punishment then death, idk, i feel like death was the easy way out. Like he tortured people, putting them in a mental place, his wife also, so kinda wish he wasn't killed to live out his punishement
- wish they didn't drag it soo long to reveal who Big Mouth was, and it was annoying that right after finding out who he was, he died, they might as well have made Chang Ho big mouth from the beginning
- Really wish the relationship between the two main lead was developed more, like more scenes between them, idk

Overall:
Definately enjoyed it, and of course the acting was really good. Wouldn't say its on my top list of rated dramas, but i enjoyed it. Soo happy to see Lee Jung Suk back in action again :)
