ENJOYABLE AND QUITE FUN. if you love xianxia, this might be right up your alley

first of all, i am fan of zhao lusi and xianxia genre itself. i watched ancient love poetry and when i found out that they were making the continuation of the story in the same universe, i was particularly excited. since it was handled by the same producer (yxp), i was even more eager to watch, even though after reading the novel, i didn't have much expectation for a unique story since it has pretty much cliche plot like other xianxia which honestly didn't matter for me since i love xianxia. i also heard it was pretty big budget drama and has the same art director as alp, i got big hope for cinematography and cgi.

BUT, ever since they released first trailer, my hope for cgi dropped immediately. i know it must have something to do with the short post production period where usually it takes at least one year for xianxia. the base plot of xianxia itself is mostly recycled so basically people are expected to be served with visual that represents a world that doesn't exist in real life. but this drama failed in that department. the way it was edited, cut, directed, it was roughly and badly done like the post production staff didn't put any care and sincerity in it at all. or again, it might be because they didn't have time (honestly, that penguin company is to blame). it came out like it is small budget drama which doesn't make any sense given big name actors and big production team behind it.

the positive take for me, despite weak writing, the episode did get better and better as the story unfolded and plot thickened, it could be better though and it honestly did have potential to do more than that. and honestly, the performance of the actors definitely saved this whole drama even though their characters weren't best and layered written, but they did give their best which is why it is such a shame that they wasted such good actors.

after all, i had quiet big expectation at first but fell disappointed later. but IT WAS ENJOYABLE AND FUN RIDE THROUGHOUT. there were fun, heart-warming and heart-breaking moments that i might watched back again time to time.

side notes : I LOVE ZHAO LUSI AND WANG ANYU TOGETHER. LETS PRAY TO DRAMA GODS SO THEY REUNITE IN MODERN DRAMA.

also, i'm praying hard for production quality of the legend of jewelry because the plot seems really interesting

Non distinctive Xianxia

Xianxia’s typically follow the same routes and this one is no exception. It’s a standalone sequel to Ancient Love Poetry but didn’t compare, in terms of execution, to ALP.

Plot

The story wasn’t uniquely theirs as it takes its queue from many other Xianxias and pieces it together within this story. Enemies to lovers, secrets, misunderstandings, self sacrifice, evil clans, reincarnations, etc. are all there. The typical makings of a Xianxia can be found in this show. Although it’s typical and has a sense of predictability, there are still moments that will make you smile.

Characters

If you are a fan of the cast then you may enjoy this one. I wouldn’t say this was some of the main cast’s best work but they performed to the best the role in this show can offer.

Although ALP wasn’t one my top Xianxias, it still has a higher rewatch value than this one. Visuals wasn’t high budget, nor was the production. Costumes were also typical. I enjoyed this for its simplicity and enjoy some bits of the OST but a one time watch is enough.

My first Xianxia drama and it didn't disappointed! -`♡´-

At first I watched this drama because of Zhao Lusi but it turns out I fell in love with F4's especially the main leads, Wang Anyu and Zhao Lusi's chemistry! Gu Jin and A Yin are very adorable, their relationship started from master-servant to falling in love with each other is really sweet and pure. Their characters development are clearly illustrated, from the beginning when they just lived to play around, experiencing many difficulties until finally turning into powerful true god Yuan Qi and phoenix queen Feng Yin.

I also really like the second lead! Yan Shuang and Hong Yi, come from two different worlds, from hating each other to becoming mutual love, so sweet! This is the second time Li Yunrui has played a drama with Zhao Lusi, I hope their friendship lasts well๋࣭⭑⚝

Hua Shu and his father are really annoying, the ending is also a bit annoying. Hope it's not only to look at each other but this is a xianxia drama, the ending can't be too happy:( Overall I like this drama and will rewatch it many times♡︎

Stick with this cdrama, and it'll surprise you!

Even though I started watching this cdrama for Zhao Lusi, I dropped this cdrama a few times while it was still airing because I had a hard time dealing with the ML's poor decisions and the frustrating, successful manipulations from Hua Shu. I just could not seem to continue past Episode 10, so I decided to pause and reconsider coming back later if I had more patience again.

After watching a few other cdramas, I finally decided to come back and try again. And I will say -- I am super glad that I did, because starting with Episode 11 (where Nether Realm is introduced), it gets better and better with each episode. To my surprise, I actually ended up binging Episodes 11-40 in only 2.5 days. My absolute favorite episodes are when the Phoenix Queen is reborn and finally here to make sure everyone who was evil / condescending gets their comeuppance. It's also great to see Yuan Qi work hard at trying to win Feng Yin's heart, and I loved that he did what he did at that one wedding. 😉😉😈🤫 No spoilers given, you'll just have to watch to find out what he did hahaha!!

For anyone hesitating to watch this cdrama, or had dropped in the middle like I did -- I highly recommend giving this cdrama one more try. At the very least, watch when the Phoenix Queen is reborn, because from then on, it is sooo very satisfying!! ☺️

I've always loved the world of Ancient Love Poetry (a series I hold dear to my heart because it's a top-tier xianxia and it's my introduction to Liu Xueyi), and I'm happy to see it expand in The Last Immortal, a drama about every kind of love: a love that sacrifices, a love that stubbornly wants to live on, a love that waits for a thousand years and more, a love that insists on changing destiny itself. I love the characterization of Gu Jin/Yuan Qi a lot because it's a rare thing I witness in xianxia dramas: he's a main male lead who is expressive, talkative, goofy, and earnest-- a refreshing stand-out from the slew of disinterested, cool ice princes we always get. His character makes for interesting dynamics with the sweet but fierce Ah Yin/Feng Yin, building up a playful friendship that slowly and surely becomes true love. A toast to the writers for writing the characters so well, with beloved heroes, reliable supports, and compelling antiheroes/villains, as well as to the actors for bringing them to life. Special mention to Hua Shu, with her complexity and fluctuating character development/regression, and Hong Yi and Yan Shuang, with their mischievous will-they-won't they dynamic; I was cheering for the two the whole time.

The drama's plot is kind of like characters doing side quests that contribute to the main quest, which makes it easy to digest, and solid enough that when you skip, you're bound to miss something important. It's not unnecessarily [too] tragic, and the problems are resolved gradually, so the ending does not feel so rushed. The effects, choreography, and set/costume designs are wonderful as well. The only problem is the quality suffers a bit from the editing, showing some inconsistencies with scene continuity, and there are times the transitions between shots feel awkward. Other than that, it's a series with a lot of unique strengths to bring to the genre, definitely up to par with its parent story.

Best Drama

Love the story the actor's and the the cast are also perfect. Shao Lusi is a Hidden Gem she's very versatile actress very talented at her young age. She's pretty and bubbly she can be paired with anybody . that's why many people love her and international fans love her.
Wang Anyu and Shao Lusi as love team is very smooth and you can tell that they are happy working each other. I hope they can collab again soon fans are just waiting for it to happen. I wish the last immortal has part 2 so we can see little bunny running and playing. Hahaha....

Nothing can be better

I don't see why some are disappointed in the drama, it's the perfect and complete package.
I read comments saying CGI is bad in their story but I think it was good.
At first is seen the highlight after 1000 years
In the early episodes of the drama, we can see how carefree, the son of True God is and it was explained by one of the commentators here, that he didn't see being God as good.
In the following episodes, it shows how she gradually developed his character and fall in love to an ordinary immortal but because of his responsibility he has to do the right thing. But in these episodes, they made us laugh and smile with their playful acts.

In the almost 3rd quarter of the drama, it made us cry buckets of tears until the end but at least they had a happy ending which for me is the best .

Cast: All the cast from lead actors to support done all their acts well
Acting: All did well
Story: Amazing because it made us angry, sad, happy and excited
Total: 100/10

my tears worth it really

At first i should say that Ancient Love Poetry continued as Yuan Qi being the son of True Gods named Bai Jue and Shang Gu (Ancient Love Poetry's Main cast) if you didn't watched Ancient Love Poetry then i suggest you should at least read the brief summary for better understanding of what is the story of past so that you won't have trouble understanding the story of The Last Immortal.
*
So yes it ends and i can't believe the ending had me crying my heart out more then a episode before. At first i was a bit disappointed but as the episode goes on and story takes a huge turn then i feel that this was worth watching and there were some sad episodes that's why i wrote "my tears worth it" because i can feel the emotions through screen.

well i think we all can relate with hating Yuan Qi at start but suddenly the hate converted into greef because he is God and have to handle everyone's worry and not biased on one person so its also something i find amusing even if u want to hate but can't seeing him in guilt and handling duty of God without showing his pain i admire his character.
*
At first I personally don't really like the character of Hong Chou and Hua Shu but it will be cruel to say i hate those characters because i understand what they wanted to show us; Hong Chou is worried about The True God that's why she did it yes she doesn't have the right to take someone's life but still. its understandable whereas Hua Shu at first only wanted to be powerful and etc but after that she was manipulated because of Lan Feng so it was also the understandable part and at last they both got their senses so that's what matters.
*
I really like the appearance of Ming Qi, how he did his things beautifully even under in prison, he is like a Nobel Character with short appearance but affected almost everyone and specially i love the chemistry between Ming Qi and Xiu Yan and even in the last scene they got me dwelling over them.
[hehe ^^]

I love the intro and the last song from the OST; i m not hating the songs it's just i can't find the feeling or maybe i didn't understand but still.

Afterall i like this drama hope you all will also loved it ^^
THANKS!!

Ending???

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ancient Love Poetry from the past; it left a lasting impression on me, prompting the desire to revisit it because of this CDrama "The Last Immortal". I see the connection between the two. I suggest that viewers watch Ancient Love Poetry to remember the name Yuangi before watching The Last Immortal! Fantasy dramas, particularly those infused with martial arts and adorned with exquisite costumes, captivate my heart, especially during moments of melancholy. Zhao Lu Si, an actress whom I admire greatly, consistently delivers performances marked by authenticity in every drama she undertakes. Wang An Yu, whom I previously noticed in Go Go Squid, has captured my attention in this CDrama, compelling me to explore other productions where he takes on a lead role. The character he portrayed resonated deeply with me, sparking admiration for leadership qualities.

The meticulous craftsmanship evident in the costumes, animations, fantasy elements, martial arts sequences, and set design is commendable. My sincere gratitude for bringing this enchanting story "The Last Immortal" to the screen. Special thanks to the supporting cast whose contributions played a pivotal role in making the storyline exceptional. However, my only qualm lies with the ending. While I appreciate Gu Jin's return, I believe the conclusion should have focused on Gu Jin and Yin rather than Xiyuan and Ming Gi. I must also express my admiration for Li Yun Ruo and Ying Er, who portrayed the characters Hong Yi and Hong Ruo with remarkable skill and artistry.

The sweet and painful consequences of your own choice

Lusi what an amazing actress, she did not disappoint,as for the Fl this is my first time watching Wang Anyu act and to be fair he made a good impression, they looked so good together!

I wish we had more sweet couple scenes, but aside that the aesthetic of the customs, the music, the decor was fire, the cast did an amazing job at potreying their characters. At some point it might be annoying bcz of the lack of communication the leads have but it's wroth watching!
The ending is indeed a happy one!

Must watch. You will not be disappointed

I hate writing reviews because I’m lazy. But I feel utterly inclined to write this review because this drama blew me away. I’m sad that I can’t find anything that makes me feel the way I did watching this.
If you love dramas like LBFAD, who rules the world, till the end of the moon, then this drama will absolutely not disappoint. I honestly cannot understand why the review rating is in the low 8s? For reference, I have watched several hundreds of Korean and Chinese romance dramas, both historical and non so have pretty high standards for dramas.
Watched this for Zhao Lusi because to me she’s the most talented Chinese actress nowadays and what can I say, she was GREAT. I watched the end scene of episode 25 so many times over and over because that scene was incredible. I get it when people say her baby voice is a bit annoying, but the whole point is to distinguish herself between ayin and fengyin, and it totally makes sense. Was my first time watching Wang Anyu and although he’s not as good at acting as Zhao, they have great chemistry together (just go and watch some clips of them in interviews etc), and I think he did enough to be ML in this drama. It didn’t detract from how much I enjoyed watching it.
Special shoutout to all of the music as well, I have downloaded all the OST songs because they’re just so good and suit the drama so well.
To note: it took me a couple episodes to really get hooked, probably because I wasn’t really sure what to expect. So some may find the first 1-3 episodes a tad slow, but once hooked, the pace of the drama through to the end is very good.

Series is much more focus on romance

This series is like 65% romance, so if your someone who likes romance very much this is for you. However if your into romance but at the same time cares about the world-building or plot wise, then you might not like this series much.

The plot is good, however the execution is meh.. I feel like they tried to do a "the long ballad" way for this series, wherein they would also focus on the second couple, though this didn't work for me and instead of getting hooked into second cp it just made me annoyed.

The acting was good, as expected of zhao lusi. The guy who played the ml was also good. Lusi's chemistry with the guy is good. The second couple also did some good acting however the chemistry not so much.

I put the rewatch value on 5.5 simply because i feel like this show is something i could only watch the first time and honestly if i want to watch this, i would just simply watch HDL.
