THis story is not bad. it just that pity Mu Ze nobody want to believe in him and be frankly to him. since a Ran re-life agaian her life she suppose tell the truth to them. Or she can fix the situation to be better. i think by doing so then only they will live happy ever after...but ya maybe the author want it like this sad ending.. erm.. Always biased then whats the point of having a lot of son...better Mu ze died at the end so that they will remember him...
Although there are crying but im not feeling the sadness why why why..Mu Chuan and A Ran my feeling not with both of you... sorry. i feel sad for Mu ze

Good 2nd chance/revenge drama

I really enjoyed all of this drama, best part is that the pacing is quick and not dragging. Some people said it is too depressing and sad, but it is expected of a story like this. It is more realistic than Story of Kunning Palace, at least.

Sometimes the FL character made frustrating decisions, but it is within (her) reasoning. The love triangle do exist for both lifetimes, and it is painful for all those involved. My favorite character is the ML Mu Chuan, because he is the only one that is unwavering from beginning to end, and sweet as can be. He is honest with his feelings, even if slow to act until pushed. The actor did a very good job with his emotions.

Jing Chao playing SML (and villain) did a fantastic job - even to the end I could not hate him at all. FL character is very good, but I had a problem with the actress. It's my first time watching her, but I thought she lacked charisma and her eyes seem emotionless some of the time.

I wish the ending was less open; I heard there are more scenes for 5 years later, but I haven't been able to find it.

interesting drama

This drama is similar genre to SOKP, so I tried to see it. In the beginning the story was good, interesting but also a little slow and boring.

The plot that tells about the suffering of the main female character is less fast-paced so that it can attract the audience to stay with the story more. But faster doesn't mean cutting a lot of scenes so the drama editing is very strange.

The CGI and cinematography are good, but the editing is really problematic, especially during the kissing scenes. Why did it have to be cut and like there was no impression for this part?

There are many scenes that have not reached the peak but have been cut so that it is not satisfying when viewed.

I finally stopped watching the drama at episode 20 and then jumped to the ending to see what the ending was like.

This drama has the same vibes as KDrama, Again My Life (AML). I'm not trying to say it copied AML, it will not have time to do it since both were released in the same year. Just how the whole story delivers, etc. I don't think this drama is bad. It is not good, but not bad either. I still continue watching it, even though not sure if I'm able to finish it.
None of these dramas are better than one another, in my opinion. But, since the main antagonist in this drama is way cooler than AML, while sadly the main protagonist is way poorer..... AML is more "watchable" for me.

At first, I thought, this drama is making sense, by making Lu An Ran overwhelmed by Mu Ze (MZ). LAR is only a merchant, while MZ is a King (politician), and she has to compete with MZ in the political area that is not her expertise.... But wait, she's the leader of her clan, she is supposed to be, at least, not doing what she's been doing in the drama so far. She can't even deal with her own brother

Just like AML, the drama only informs the viewer of some important events. Like the death of LAR's mother, her little sister's affection for MZ's personal assistant, her brother becoming a general, her brother's death, her son's death, the death of her brother, the death of all her family members, her little sister's betrayal and last, MZ kill the 9th prince. I think the writer thinks (or maybe he wants? But why?) that he has to stick to the timeline in the "original time pace". The writer kinda forgets that if something happened that changes the past, the future will change too. That means, if MZ needs more time to get married, or to at least take her as his ally, his time in the future to become a king will be delayed too. With all those details, the writer can play to extend or shorten the timeline of those events.

I can't stand on her way to deal MZ, just too reckless and damaging. Her "political" ways in her family, like during the internal leadership struggle and her mother's poisoning case, are quite smart. Her way to get away with the wedding is genius!!!
But, other than that, each of her steps is just too reckless. Like when she chooses to exchange the test page of a scholar and make him fail the test. She even can't do anything when the scholar rejected her offer (while he wants to go back to his hometown due to his disappointment)... shouldn't a merchant be great at making deals?
All that scholar needs is to improve his family status, I wondered why doesn't she discuss the condition with the scholar? He might willingly give up if she can successfully deal with him. She can offer him a position to help her with her business while he is waiting to rejoin the test next year.

I can't find why LAR thinks that the way to redeem her guilt is by revealing the real test result... he is DEAD!! Am I the only one who can kill myself if my actions caused someone to take their own life? Not to mention in a very gruesome way.
While Kim Hee Woo collected as much as allies as he can, LAR choose to do it herself even though she can't, I wonder why LAR always rejected the 9th Prince's offer to help her.

In the end, the only thing LAR can change so far is that she doesn't have to marry MZ, and her mother is alive. But, MZ wants to marry LAR to take advantage of her ability to build a warship, what's the point of the second change of life if in the end she still does what he needed her to? With all those credits, MZ will still become a king.
I think it might be better if LAR is able to make MZ lose his credits one by one. And without all those credits, he fails to become a King. Like what happened in AML, where Hee Woo imprison Jo Tae Sub's allies one by one, which made JTS lose his grip and power.

Lets stop casting Xing Fei in period dramas please

Its such a good storyline..witb poor execution, editing, direction and subpar acting.
A heavy plot like this but the writers don't even develop the characters enough for tge audience to connect with them and experience the journey.
It felt like a lot was edited out so it was just a 'huh okay ' moment in every scene.
It's supposed to be angst but all i did was raise my brow cause i couldn't feel nothing but disbelief at squeezing alot in the first 7 episodes which could have been stretched and acted out well to give me chest pains enough to throw up frok suffering.

I ended up not caring for any characters.
This is the second Xing fei period drama that has fallen short.
Lets stick to modern drama where she excells at please.

I lost track of time...

3/10/24 ep 26-30 it's my 1st review live -- I was so hooked that I ended up binge watching -- Awesome story, awesome ending. Some parts hurtful and hard to take but made a realistic ending for that time period and for the different status' and cultural dynamics. Wow I think it was probably worse back in those days and this is great fiction played out.

As you can see I rated all segments 10 -- it was easy to watch and easy to stay with and by the end of the episodes I looked forward to the OST. Loved the costumes and makeup. Also enjoyed the subs -- really good actors and will be looking forward to seeing them in future works.

Ep 26-27 FL's cold demeanor as a woman is a 10. Loved how these 2 eps played out, I was roped in and what great acting. I have to add that FL was in My Little Happiness and I found her acting a 10 there also.

ep 21 quote from seer/witch -- : 'have you thought about it? All things are born according to their own laws. It's like a long river. If you block its path, it will find another way. But no matter what, it will never stop.'

3/9/24 ep 19 -- Oh my goodness, another principle quote that's worth thinking on -- LuAnran: "Li Xi, Doug Qing -- don't you think that, all along, I seemed to have seized the opportunities but every step was getting more and more dangerous. I sank deeper and deeper. Everything was my self-conceit. I was too naive. In this world, where is the certainty and control? Change one thing and there will be a new crisis." The principle is -- where is the certainty and control? We as humans follow a certainty in our lives and we want control of our lives... the nugget principle is 'change one thing and there will be a new crisis-- we humans charge in to change things in our lives; we want to fix it and have a better solution on how to fix it -- but the end result is a new crisis... This is where we need to restrain ourselves from creating changes and making personal decisions and turning to God for the solution. Building our faith in God and not ourselves.

LuAnran says something that is worth putting into quotation -- "Some birds in a cage are destined to die there. This huge cage, this endless intrigue, I'm really tired." The flashbacks in & outs are well incorporated with the storyline.

(earlier today) wow, I made it to ep 18 and the scheming has gotten so thick I've lost track of what originally happened in the 1st 4 eps that set off the following 5-18 eps. Several key folks have died from eps 1-4 and now new players are in place. She couldn't stop the death of her mother, but she really was ruthless with the death of her 2nd mother (father's 2nd wife). God's Word holds to one husband and one wife... This is what God saw, the chaos, ruthless scheming, discord and division. Not a safe place to raise holy children. The chaos in her family shows in the palace. Princes scheming against one another for the throne... and the Emperor survived through 30 eps. Not liking the deep intrigue, but that's what makes this story -- we as humans tend to look for trouble and be in the thick of trouble. I have to give it to the writer/s FL has 2 MLs that are in love with her. One loves her for what she can get/give him and the other loves her, sincerely.

Rated @ 8.5 during 1st 3 eps very fast pace for me, no drag-time..

Poorly executed storyline

I am surprised at the high ratings??

I love Zhai Zi Lu (Mu Chuan) and pretty much stuck through the drama because of him. The story plot isn't bad, but it was poorly executed.

The not so great:
-FL cried & cried... it was like a crying fest for many episodes, but it just doesn't connect. I think she's better in contemporary dramas.
-The love story is sweet, but I didn't feel the leads had any chemistry.
-Jing Chao as Mu Ze: I've seen him as the bad guy in one too many dramas. It was hard to sympathize with his character. No fault to his acting but the storytelling wasn't compelling.
-Low budget background: It was like .... poster fake.
-OST - very few and overly repetitive.

The good:
-Zhai Zi Lu - Hope he picks better scripts
-Actual story - It isn't a bad story

Mu Chuan

Apalagi ujung-ujung-nya jadi putr*** **** (eits.. no spoiler)
