What was the reason?

I haven't written a review in so long but I just feel way to *much* about this.
Also this might contain spoilers, if that's even possible though since the synopsis and preview tell the whole story.

It's been 10 years. 10 YEARS since you last saw this woman. Who, yeah, I get it. You loved her, but... come on. 10 years and suddenly she shows up and you aren't even together a whole day before she is asking you to kill her husband? My dude.... come on. and why the hell did you agree to?
I get wanting to do something. I do. Especially to protect someone. But again, you haven't seen this person in 10 years and you have a really good life... you're just going to throw that all away?

Maybe if they didn't start the movie off the bat like that or maybe they spent more time together to show us this "bond" they're supposed to have, I would care more or at least understand. But as is, I don't understand.

All through this movie and I do mean ALL THROUGH IT, it just felt like Nanae was using Rei. She was throwing out red flags like crazy. Even when they were teens. It felt like she knew Rei loved her and she could use that to her advantage. Rei on the other hand, I have no idea. It was weird how she constantly said she was lesbian but still ended up having sex with two guys. I get shit happens but, you didn't need to sleep with the dude to kill him honestly aaaand the second dude? I'm just confused.

This movie gave me one hell of a stress headache. It was a absolute dumpster fire. Even watching it on 1.5x felt like it didn't end it quickly enough. and the ending? All this went down and through the whole movie Nanae talked nonstop about wanting to die. like bitch, why did you get Rei involved in the first place then?! and for the last line to be "I'll wait for you" -- well you fuckin better. Though I doubt you will. Wish there was some after credits scenes or something cuz it ended with me more pissed off than ever.

Based on the manga Gunjou - Must read to understand

This is based on a manga called Gunjou and I believe all of these reviews don't realize it is from a manga. I completely understand the confusion and lack of interesting plot to these viewers but I for one is glad that this was made. It is definitely missing a lot of critical information such as the relationship between Rei and her ex gf Ichiko, Nanae's extremely abusive father, and the manga's ending. In addition to missing out on many scenes on their toxic relationship developing into something more mutual and their struggles of trying to understand each other better. Their love for each other is toxic yet loyal only for each other.

The manga definitely holds a special place in my heart, however, I have two issues with the movie. One was their sex scene, it seemed really messy and gave off male gaze of their understanding of lesbian sex scenes, it was uncomfortable to watch. My second issue was the ending because it is completely different from the manga. but other wise, it is a really good live action movie of a manga, which we rarely get.

I highly recommend those that have watched or will watch Ride or Die to read the manga because it will hold onto your heart and leave you breathless.
