Summer 1945. The bright voice of Meiko, who was giving away meals to the children, echoed in the burned-out Osaka. 34 years back, Tokyo in the Meiji era. The daughter of a Western restaurant, Meiko, is in the first grade of elementary school. Her father, Daigo, her mother, Iku, and her grandmother, Tora, cook their meals extraordinarily well, but for Meiko, her father's omelet and her grandmother's rice bran pickles taste the best. One day, Maiko sneaks into the school's chicken coop for fresh eggs to make better tasting omelet.
