After knowing about Miyamoto's death, Meiko walks around looking for Natto. When she returns home, Sakurako is preparing oden for Noriko and the others. Everyone wants to eat cheerfully because of the memorial service to Professor Miyamoto who valued eating. Muroi talks about the oden that he ate in Tokyo after the earthquake, and says that the remaining ones must live strongly. Genta gets natto for Meiko. Meiko wants to believe in the power of food.
