Worst FL Ever

This drama was so Meh!! I watched b/c of Vaness Wu and he was alright here but this may have been too much for him to carry the show. Plus he couldn't deliver the gravitas needed for the characters's anger moments it all seemed so tame when the character has every right to be angry.

A lot of stuff happening in this series defies logic and usually I can suspend belief b/c I want the romantic fantasy and live for it but this did not deliver the goods AT ALL!!

I hate the FL and have never hated a FL more. I will never understand her motiovations after the fact just dumb. I also hated her doe eyed dumbfouned face everytime she asked to tell the truth but kept lying. Will never watch this again. Liked Xio Le but really not a fan of super precocious kids but he was likeable.

Terrible ending; Guang Xi shoud have gone to the US and taken Xio Le with him. YEP I'm a hater!!

This drama will now be one of my favorites as it contains all the elements I love in a drama, it’s a dramatic drama with the right amount of craziness, chemistry and anger that I like that leads the way to a happy ending, plus the most adorable kid actor I have ever seen in a drama.

The story starts with how a young girl called
Mu Cheng becoming an orphan and had to live with her former fathers wife boyfriend as they were rendered bankrupt, her step mothers boyfriend staring developing sexual interest in her as she grew older and made her start feeling uncomfortable in the Sheng university quarters they lived , she tries in every way to avoid him as she they all work in the canteen that serves students food along with her aunt at the Sheng university.

Ren guan xi is a troublesome law student whose family owned and managed the Sheng university for, he remembered his father dying of suicide while young and concludes his mother made his dad die and resents his mum and always caused trouble for he to fix, he met mu cheng while he was causing trouble as always and finds out after making a bet with his friends that she is the only girl that has proved herself unavailable to the boys at Sheng university as she never gives them attention or a number, he decides to follow through the bet to make her kiss him in less than 24 hours , he forces her on a date threatening her that he would report her friend Tuo ye of lending out a book to a non university student, she caught on and made a fool of him saying she had also made a bet with other students to make him kiss her too. Mu Cheng leaves home angrily on that day and finds herself in Sheng hall building where quang xi goes to reminiscence of his time with his father there, she saw a piano there and begins to relive her younger days as a pianist and plays a tune quang xi recognizes, he ends up telling her to strip for him to embarrass her and her tears whilst trying to strip moved him and they gradually began a friendship, he becomes more protective of her when he sees that her step father had suspicious abusive behaviors towards her; so he got closer to her and later fell intensely love with her to the point of getting serious as a law student when an accusation of her selling her body was spread in the school, he defended her reputation on a panel and won.
But tragedy strikes as he fainted and later was diagnosed of brain tumor with only a 15% chance of survival, he harshly breaks off with mu Cheng until he hears she was in danger working at a fish market and he rushes off to see and eventually rescues her, they got stuck together in her house and ended up staying the night together having sex, the next day quang xi decided to go for the surgery so long as Mu Cheng stays with him, but with only the hope of 15% survival and a higher chance of 30% survival If his family accepts a deal with another rich family with the hope or marrying their daughter Yi Quin. Mu cheng had no choice than to play along and eventually cruelly leaving his side during his operation even though he ran out after her and saw her leave with her friend Tuo ye while being stabbed by her step father.

The operation was successful however quang xi wakes up with lost memory of his past and all his cognitive abilities and only Yi quin by his side whilst Mu cheng moves to Hua village, a community known for growing flowers, she found out she had become pregnant for Guang xi and gave birth to a most adorable boy named Xiao Le.

This drama was beautiful. Despite it's flaws here and there and the annoying lies and deception and not saying what should be said, this drama by the end of it leaves you with such warmth and fuzziness it can't be explained. I don't watch anything but Korean Dramas, rarely ever do I let myself wander into the Thai world but I'm glad i made an exception with this one. The lies, the protecting of the MC do disappoint you yes. But it's beautiful. Love can be in many forms and many ways and can come in different shapes and sizes. All characters in this drama had reasons for the way they were and although at times you feel like some characters were treated unfairly, you'd know that's how life is. When we watch dramas we root for the good guy and the good girl to be together but in real life, it's not that simple. We are all flawed and we want to end up with those who are flawed in a way you can love them nevertheless and those who'd love you despite the flaws you have. This drama is realistic on that level. The kid actor stole my heart. He is not only absolutely adorable he is portrayed as a considerate little child who despite his innocence is actually very understanding and mature. The portrayal is wonderful and so on point because kids raised by single parents do turn out that way. Too careful of their surroundings. But Xiao Le was loved by everyone and sheltered and protected so he was a beautiful boy who dreamed of a family and got one.It has a wonderfully sweet, happy ending just the way you'd want.My only complaint however is that they showed scenes that were yet to come so many times during those commercial cuts. That pissed me off, and the music was so loud i could barely hear myself think. But once you get used to it and let yourself get past those, this is a wonderful family/friendship/romance drama you really want to watch. Overall a hard 9.5/10. Although due to so much happening the rewatch value might not be as much.

Who likes love story with little bit melodrama ,so this a right choice

Every part of the drama was perfect .expressions were amazing . Every actor was amazing . especially kiddo ,that child acting win my heart . He was so cute and his dialogue delivery was too good. So naturally his expressions were coming out ,too good. So smoothy story is went . Though it has 32 episodes but story was so good that it had not realised that it has 32 episodes .
Good part of the drama that it didn't portrait bad image of male lead's mother . Second male lead is also good . Love triangle always made little bit sad when both side have genuine feeling .so felt little bit bad for second male lead character . I had watched 2009 year drama in 2022 year ,time is so changed but still I like the story . So I highly recommend it

There are many different kinds of love - and they are all love

I really liked this series. A thought provoking look at love, self sacrifice and betrayal, and the many shades of grey that blur the lines in between until one turns into the other.

I liked the characters and the actors who portrayed them. They were perfect choices. The chemistry between the leads was beautiful and felt genuine, and the side characters were developed nicely too. I found the story compelling.

I totally disliked the cringey whining of the main song, and found it annoying as it was played so often, but I turned down the volume and overlooked that weakness because everything else worked so well.

Yes it has a lot of the typical drama tropes but there was an extra level of thoughtful character development that made it feel relatable and real.

This is certainly the best Taiwanese drama that I have watched, and will likely rewatch., so I do recommend it.

Full of miscommunication, but I still enjoyed it

Let me start by saying that I usually HATE time skips, and I was so terrified of this one that I watched up till the time skip and paused the drama for four months because I couldn't bring myself to continue.

But I liked this a lot more than I expected. For someone who usually hates noble idiocy and lack-of-communication as plot points, the storyline was serious enough for me to really empathize with Mu Cheng and understand why she did what she did, especially considering how fleshed out her backstory was.

There were a lot of scenes that were really heartbreaking, even frustrating to watch, because it felt like nothing ever went right and the story was just so tragic and angsty. At the same time, however, there were really adorable and pure scenes between the main leads, and like everyone else, I grew to love Xiao Le as well, who quickly became one of my favorite characters ever.

Yes, part of me wished the characters were just more open and honest with each other, as it felt like ALL the characters did that "lie for someone else's own good," but Autumn's Concerto managed to pull it off. I also commend the drama for tackling sexual assault/abuse AND how perpetrators often get away with it—it felt too REAL.

I won't lie, some of the things Ren Guang Xi did were REALLY problematic, but considering how much character depth he actually had and the other ways sexual assault was addressed, I'm willing to let it slide.

This drama is one of the best. I love how this story starts. Liang mu Cheng (the lead actress) has so many issues in her life. But, when she accidentally meets Ren Guang Xi her life turns around, she lets out her secrets and starts to speak out. This drama is good because we have a strong lead actress. But when Ren Guang Xi has his own problems Mu Cheng stays by his side because he helped her a lot. Guang Xi loses his memories and we move forward 5 years into the future. Now Mu Cheng is the kid. Wait until you find out who the dad is. The two people know each other from the past but only Mu Cheng recognizes Guang Xi. And now everything from the past repeats and history and love is rekindled. This is one of the most addictive dramas ever. So many twists and turns. It’s literally a roller coaster. I wanted to cry while watching this drama. I cried like 5 times and laughed a lot because of the little kid. This drama is amazing. Totally recommend watching, PLUS THIS DRAMA IS IN NETFLIX. WATCH IT BEFORE THEY TAKE IT OFF.

I first watched Autumn Concerto ten years ago. I remembered liking it a lot. Ten years later, I re-watched it with fresh eyes and a new outlook on life. I love it more today than I did back then. There are a few things that Autumn Concerto did really well, despite using all the cliche drama tropes in the book...

1. Thoughtful dialogue: You actually wanted to sit through long monologues and watch the tension unfold between two characters. You actually did not want to throw a chair at the screen. You might even shed a tear. It was well done.

2. Addicting story line: This is a highly addicting, binge worthy show. My husband was able to sit and binge watch this show with me over a weekend.

4. Good use of flashbacks: Flashbacks usually suck in most dramas. In this case, the realistic style of the flashbacks (short bursts of selected scenes) aided in the tension. It made the scenes better.

I do have to criticize the overuse of the same soundtrack throughout. I can still hear it in my sleep.

Overall, this is a highly addictive, well written, romantic drama that takes you on a journey and leaves you feeling changed afterwards. There aren't many shows out there that can do this so don't hesitate and watch now.

This review may contain spoilers

What could have been.

I know i’m not familiar with Taiwanese dramas as I am with Korean, but bear with me as I felt they followed the same formula to a certain extent. Keep in mind that Autumns Concerto was released one year after Boys over Flowers. So it’s hard to gauge the impact it had on this series, if it had any at all. This is all before the “me too” era. To cut to the chase, this drama had so much freaking potential, but by the middle half, it goes completely bonkers.

There is so much to digest here, and there might be a few spoilers, but there was just so much wrong with this show. The main character forces himself on the female lead at least 4-5 times. So much is glossed over, as if it’s normal. There’s attempted kidnapping, murder, attempted rape, prostitution, and so much more. All of this seems normal, despite little consequence until we get to the 30th episode where things get more absurd.

The FL almost never expresses a full thought that bears emotion and weight with what she’s faced in life. She’s frail and timid, never allowing herself to say what’s on her mind. This starts to change, a little bit, but I kid you not, by the 29th episode. The formula every single character uses then, especially the FL, is to lie. And boy does everyone lie. Lies upon lies, upon withholds. We never get complete answers from the FL, no matter who asks, especially when it mattered. The solution is to keep lying while thereby creating more needless drama. During 2008, I think producers and writers felt that this kind of path gave the viewers an inclination to keep watching. This doesn’t work in the digital age and I don’t think it did much then either. If you watch only the first 10 episodes of this series, you could say it’s almost among the best. The brain tumor storyline was done insanely well, but it’s the only saving grace.

So many of the extra side characters are useless. The “best friend” male is an utter train wreck of a character. He has no money. No title. No completed education. Instead, he tries to solve real world problems with his fist and manly facial expressions. It’s almost a joke by the 29th episode. At one point a character says this exact line, “I don’t know how to explain how absurd all of this is.” A line used by the ML’s would be wife, who decided to keep a recovering amnesia patient in the dark so she could have her happy fake fiancé. By the time you reach that line, you realize how fitting it is to tie the whole series down.

If it weren’t video speed pro, I wouldn’t even had bothered.

This melodrama is great! starts off very cliche but then you enter a whirlwind of emotions. the actors are great at portraying their characters, and are very cute together (you'll find yourself watching behind the scenes clips).
However the drama can be a bit slow at times.
