If you're still looking for recs, you might give the Thai Drama Hormones/Hormones 2 a shot. It's an ensemble cast, and each character pretty much gets an episode that focuses on them, but there are gay characters (both male and female) that get significant story lines. I really enjoyed it, especially the second season. The third season has just started, too. There is also Lovesick, another Thai drama, but I haven't gotten around to watching that one yet.

It's great you don't like romantic comedies because gay movies 90% of the time are very very sad.
That being said you should watch Somewhere I have never Travelled, not many people have.
There's also currently airing a lesbian jdrama called Transit Girls.
