Ji-hae and Soo-kyoung are friends attending the same university and both have a crush on Sang-min who is in their drama club. The more clamorous and outgoing of the two, Soo-kyoung, asks Ji-hae to do her a favor - write a love letter to Sang-min. Ji-hae pours out her own feelings for him on paper, but sadly in her friend's name. Touched by the letter, Sang-min is attracted to Soo-kyoung, and Ji-hae, feeling uncomfortable and even guilty, tries to avoid him. And yet by coincidence or by fate she keeps running into him. Ji-hae has lived alone with her mom since her childhood, when her dad unexpectedly passed away. Her mom is now on a trip abroad, and to wile away her solitude she starts cleaning the attic. There Ji-hae finds a secret box, in which her mom kept the memorabilia of her first love story of some decades past. Summer in 1968 - Joon-ha is visiting his uncle's home in the countryside during his summer vacation. There he meets Joo-hee and falls in love at first sight. One day, the lovely Joo-hee secretly asks Joon-ha to escort her to a haunted house in the village. Happy and excited to be at her service, Joon-ha meets her at their promised spot. But in an unexpected storm, the two lose their boat and barely manage to return home at a very late hour. Joo-hee gets into big trouble for this incident and is sent back to Seoul. Having parted with Joo-hee without a word of farewell, Joon-ha spends the rest of the summer heavy-hearted. With summer vacation being over Joon-ha also returns to Seoul. At school, his classmate Tae-su asks him to write a love letter to send to a girl. And who would it be but Joo-hee, Joon-ha's dream girl. Unable to confess his own summer love story, Joon-ha reluctantly complies with his friend's request.

I expected this to be a typical teen romance movie, but it stole my heart. The story tricked me until the very end. I loved every bit of it.

You get a double story in the end with her and her mother's love story. This certainly is the perfect mix of gushy romance with coming of age.

Much MUCH better than Romeo and Juliet by far. It's more satisfying than sad at the end and worth the watch! Perfect for a girl's night. My friends dread subtitles but they had nothing to complain about when it was over.

Although, I give the music a nine because I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to hear it.

Amazing movie Classic is defintely "The Classic" Movie! It was so beautiful I can't put this into words, I expected to die in tears but It was really funny. Made me laugh and cried, I was somewhat confused because Son ye Jin acted as both Ji hye and Joo Hee...But soon did I realise Ji Hye always had her hair down and her mom didn't

Cast: Amazing I love Son Ye Jin and the guy that acted as Joo Ha was just awesome! Sang Min's character...well we didn't see alot of him until the end , but I think he was good too. Tae Soo was well acted too.

Music: The instrumental is so beautiful I really love it , some what heart breaking and somewhat

  • Both the movies have a theme of the entwined fate, and they're both just pretty super-duper.

  • The story is different but both stories were pretty much equal in terms of how the story is written. It's a tear jerker but heart warming. Not to mention same actress. I start liking Son Yeh Jin. Both were my favorites.

Any idea what Tae-su dies of in the end? Assuming it was related to his fainting spells. A brain tumor?

I first heard of The Classic from Reply 1997 where one of the songs from this movie was used in the drama (Confessions by Deli Spice).

I've got to give this a try. But that synopsis--if you read it for the first time, it's a bit tricky to read and understand at the same time.

It's the feeling from this movie that is enchanting and really appeals to my romantic sentimental side; but you totally know in which direction the story is going, there is no surprise. Still, it's told in a beautiful way and I do admit I liked how the story entered the story within the story. Music is abslutely lovely. It's a lovely movie.

I need to explain better what exactly is predictable: the intertwined stories and how they come about and how they come together, you can see it coming from the moment the story within the story takes place but i really did love the ending and the movie was just thoughly lovely, with beautiful OST; it was a happy heart-warming; the one word that has to be used is charming and lovely. For romantics who like lovely films, do watch this.

The most beautiful asian movie I've ever seen. It's my number one from now on. Love it. I've cried so hard but was so happy for their children though. The music was brilliant from the very start (My favorite classical music Pachelbels' "Canon") so it had to end it like this. <3
