Best of ... serial killer

Serial killers are a very popular and graceful topic for dramas if handled well. I'm not a professional critic, so I can't make a beautiful professional analysis and put it into words beautifully, but the subject of a serial killer has been with me for many years. I'm interested in it not only as a viewer, but I've done my homework on the subject by reading the professional literature and consulting my doubts with a forensic psychologist. I am not an expert, but I do have some understanding of the topic.
I don't remember all the dramas on this topic. I have not watched all of them. I purposely left out "Voice" and "Flower of Evil." The list will be edited as more good dramas in this topic come to my mind.

This list reflects my personal opinion. Please respect it as I respect yours. Each of us has the right to create our own list.

  • Evil Minds

    1. Evil Minds

    Chinese Drama - 2015, 24 episodes

    10

For long periods of time, the drama can be daunting. It's a bit heavy, rather boring, but I stayed with it until the end and I must say it was worth it. It was definitely worth it. These boring stories were initially pieces of an intriguing story that gave us a fascinating ending.
The drama was created at a time when the subject of psychology was almost taboo in China, so it has some shortcomings in this matter, but I appreciate the efforts and the effect.

  • Through the Darkness

    2. Through the Darkness

    Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    10

A fascinating journey through the minds of serial killers and their pursuers. It focuses on the arduous finding of the truth and on how much you have to beware of the darkness within yourself. Although I personally doubt the effectiveness of police profilers, they are a grateful subject for dramas and this shows them very well. Police cases are textbook, but well presented. Probably the most realistic serial killer drama I've ever seen.

  • Gap Dong

    3. Gap Dong

    Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes

    9.5

In addition to an intriguing storyline, we have an interesting main character who is not some Seoul ace, a bit of a crazy small town detective. I love how the policemen are presented here and the interactions between them. The whole world and all characters are in shades of gray. Great rock music.

  • Tunnel

    4. Tunnel

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    7.0

Totally skipping the time travel plot and focusing on the serial killer issue itself, I found it to be presented interestingly and factually. The investigation to detect and capture the criminal is also well presented. The tension is properly balanced, as is the dosage of information. The detective's personal involvement in the case also keeps the viewer engaged.

  • Life on Mars

    5. Life on Mars

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

    10
  • Signal

    6. Signal

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    7.0

If you focus on the serial killer cases themselves, it's a nicely shown police job, but also very well captured crime scene tension. You can really feel the chills in some scenes.

  • Hello Monster

    7. Hello Monster

    Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes

    8.0

Unfortunately I watched this drama with a sound to picture shift, which spoiled my experience a bit, this drama however portrays the psychological aspect of the so-called psychopath perfectly. The drama tries to answer the question: is a person born like that or does he become like that, and if he becomes like that, what is the reason? An interesting game between the investigator and the murderers. Worth watching.

  • Come and Hug Me

    8. Come and Hug Me

    Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes

    3.0

My low rating for this drama as a whole is due to all the other aspects, the serial killer theme is handled brilliantly though. Two sons of a serial killer - do they have that tendency in their genes? Were they raised to be killers? Or are they victims themselves? This thread gives food for thought.
