  • Boys Over Flowers

    1. Boys Over Flowers

    Korean Drama - 2009, 25 episodes

    10

I’ll never get over how much I love Jun Pyo, but even more than him, Jan Di. It can be so insanely dumb sometimes, but that’s what makes it so addictive in the best way.

I’m willing to admit that a lot of the reasons why this will always be my top drama is because it was the first time I saw a lot of the dumb plot devices that are common in most dramas. To some it’s dull and repetitive, but this was my second drama so it was all new and enjoyable to me. But I have a hard time imagining any other drama that I’ve watched, or will ever watch, being able to top what I feel for this drama, even if I had watched it before BoF.

  • Dream High

    2. Dream High

    Korean Drama - 2011, 16 episodes

    9.5

This show cut me deep, yo. It has forever changed the way I look at K-dramas. It manages to have heart and character, but is still able to poke fun at K-pop culture and the show itself. I cannot stress enough how well it handled the things that other dramas ignore (sexual harassment, obesity, the darker areas of K-pop etc.). Although I do wish it had dealt with suicide better. Pil Suk and Jason 4 lyfe.

  • Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    9.5

If you watch this and don’t fall in love with Hyung Sik then you are a robot and you need to go get a heart. Park Bo Young is also the most adorable super hero ever. Yet another example of me falling in love with the female lead and male lead equally… Ok, maybe I love Hyung Sik just a smidge more. There was a lot about this show I could have done without, but I don’t think those parts are bad. Just that Hyung Sik and Bo Young are so enjoyable to watch that any time it wasn’t about them I was uninterested. Will definitely be rewatching this in the future, and honestly it might move further up my list after a rewatch.

  • Coffee Prince

    4. Coffee Prince

    Korean Drama - 2007, 17 episodes

    9.5

Not only changed my mind about the gender bending theme, but also dramas in general. It has a lot of great elements that you don’t see in many dramas. A perfect mix between giving the romance its time, but also giving the audience other elements that would be important to the romance. If you still haven’t watched this take this as a sign. Start it now.

  • Extraordinary You

    5. Extraordinary You

    Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes

    9.0

I did not expect to fall so deep for this drama. I loooved the premise and just about everything else. Things felt intentional and worth my time. Baek Gyeong was almost too bad for my bad boy list, but he found his way. I'm sad to say goodbye to this drama! *sagak*

  • Mr. Queen

    6. Mr. Queen

    Korean Drama - 2020, 20 episodes

    9.0

I would have never guessed that man trapped in woman's body would be one of my fav tropes, but I loved it. Although the episodes are long, I still found myself sticking around and having so much fun. I loved the dynamic between all the characters and I even enjoyed the sageuk nature of the story! The two main leads do a great job on all levels; I was laughing and crying and cheering them on the whole time. I don't know that I've ever been so sad to finish a drama, and that should be taken as my highest recommendation.

  • Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    9.0

Have you ever cried over a drama just because it’s so fucking cute? Because I hadn’t, until this drama. This is by far one of my favorite romances ever. Other dramas take note. I will admit that I was only watching this for Bok Joo and Joon Hyung, and the other romances were a little forced. But like, how often do you walk away from a rom-com drama completely satisfied with the main couple?

  • The Legend of the Blue Sea

    8. The Legend of the Blue Sea

    Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes

    9.0

Fun fact: I watched all of this in one weekend because I have little self-control and missed seeing Lee Min Ho in a good role. My biases for both Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun made it so easy to fall in love with their characters. I loved the mermaid bits, I loved the human bits, and I loved that there were some things left out to fool the audience. My only complaint is that it felt more about a story of a human falling in love with a mermaid, rather than a mermaid and a human falling in love.

  • Reply 1997

    9. Reply 1997

    Korean Drama - 2012, 16 episodes

    9.0

This one really pissed me off, but I don’t think it would have been able to do that if I didn’t love and care about it so much. Every episode felt important and that’s so hard to do sometimes. Yeah, sure it helps that I relate to the fan girl, but I think we can identify with a tiny part of every character. Sometimes it’s tough to watch, but I’m already planning a rewatch soon.

  • What Happened in Bali

    10. What Happened in Bali

    Korean Drama - 2004, 20 episodes

    9.0

I was stressed the entire time because of all the things I’d heard about the ending, but, honestly, I had fun watching still?? There is no other rich man poor girl drama like this. There is no other drama like this PERIOD. This is truly a must-see for any fan of k-dramas.
