5-10 eps too long

Honestly if they had cut down on the episodes this might have been much better. I shockingly enjoyed the beginning part of the drama aka the high school period over the second half of the drama aka the college period. The writers lost the plot in the 2nd half and it was super boring and beyond ridiculous.
There was nothing absolutely nothing based on reality in this drama in the aspect of the characters, they were just all too unrealistic especially the Male Lead but I wasn’t really mad at it, I love watching series for the fantasy even though I still want it to be rooted in a bit or realism.
You might have thought we would, for the 1st time escape the hospital troupe in a CDrama but low & behold that was not to be, they found a way to insert it into the drama come hell or high water.
I struggled so badly with the rating for this drama because with how much I loved the 1st 18eps, the vein in which I loved it, is in the same vein in which I loathe the remaining 10eps. The brightest star of this show is the little boy, he was such a delight and stole every scene he was in, I also liked the high school teacher, he sure has the best teacher award from me.
Do I regret watching this, not really but I definitely will not be rewatching this drama as I struggled to finish it and was thankful for the fast forward button which was maximally utilized from ep21 and I honestly ended up not caring about both the main lead couple and the secondary couple now matter how much I initially enjoyed their diabetes induced sweetness because it had no humph to it and ended up being a juvenile middle school romance. I wish Young Beautiful Shu ended up with Sibo and not Cheng Erluo, he was better off as her best friend to be honest and it would have made the drama much better IMO.
FYI to CDrama writers not every childhood crush should end up together forever, forcing this troupe when it doesn’t work just brings down the value of the drama but what do I know..
Rewatch value 3/10
Overall 6.5/10
I recommend if you have nothing else to watch.

Absolutely worth it

Although some parts of the drama got on my last damn nerves and the win-win resolution pissed me the hell off, I still consider this one hell of a series.
Top notch everything, this series had it all. It was quality all around.
The chemistry between Chen Fei Yu as Li Xun and Zhang Jing Yi as Zhu Yun was so scorching hot it’s was incredible to watch. It’s been a long time I saw chemistry that was this fire in CDrama.
The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t make Zhu Yun have any identity, goals, dreams or aspirations that wasn’t somehow tied to Li Xun, he was literally her whole world but if you are going to go all in for someone in the way she did you might as well do it right and boy did she go all in for him and while I can’t be like her I certainly wont knock her for it either. I completely understood why he took the extreme route in propelling her to break up with him because God, him and everyone watching the show knew that she would never give up on him easily but I didn’t like how the writers took his bad treatment of her too far after his prison release, especially in that office scene before her overdose.
But Li Xun was who he was and made no apologies for it. I agree with one reviewer that said how they made some changes to Li Xun in the later episodes just so they could give us a win-win situation that literally nobody asked for and was undeserved to say the least, I also wasn’t happy about that.
If you want to watch a CDrama with real matured make out seshs with a good plot and solid acting then this is for you, I also recommend Falling into You.
Rewatch value is 10/10 (I have already rewatched and planning on rewatching again soon)
Overall is absolutely 10/10
I obviously highly highly recommend.

Was ok

I read some reviews saying this was the best movie they’ve ever watched. When I read some reviews I really question the emotional intelligence, taste level and IQ of said people. This was not a bad movie, it’s definitely watchable but to say it’s the best movie. I know am supposed to respect people’s opinions and what not but I’m like shaking my head and asking myself what the hell is wrong with some people. It’s a question I’m not likely to get an answer to.
This was no where near a great movie unlike some reviewers would like you to believe but I can’t say I do not recommend or recommend. What I can say it’s, if you decide to watch then just enjoy the ride, if not you’ve not lost anything either.
Rewatch value is a 2. Won’t be rewatching but not mad I watched either.

WEN KEXING

Honestly coming up with a headline was so hard because there isn’t enough space to convey my thoughts there. So I came up with the very best thing I could think of.
OMG, Wen Kexing. Where do I even start. Gong Jun aka Simon Gong has made me a fan for life with this performance. To say he brought Wen Kexing to life is such an understatement. I have rewatched this so many times and every time he’s on screen my heart sings.
I was completely heartbroken with the death of one of the major characters but i could understand the director’s intention with that, it was still a hard pill to swallow nonetheless.
My favorite scene is when he came to save Zhou ZiShu. He’s entrance was so majestic, it’s leaves me breathless every time I watch it. It give meaning to the song “he came in like a wrecking ball”. And the entrance song was just way too beautiful.
I have watched this scene so many times, I can’t keep count.
Who are you, sir?
“The way he smirked sarcastically at the question was so bad ass”
I’m Wen, Wen Kexing
The Chief of the Ghost valley?
“The best part of this scene was right before he said”
This was supposed to be a secret.
The way he said aiiiii, my heart couldn’t take it.
I don’t know if my love for the series and mostly Wen Kexing has come through with this review but i am completely and irrevocably in love and obsessed with Wen Kexing.
The fight scenes were incredible. The way Wen Kexing calls Zhou Xu was adorable, the Way he says he’s a good guy and he’s philanthropist Wen while plotting evil was genius. Simon embodied everything Wen Kexing was supposed to be and so much more. To say I can’t and won’t move on from this series is such an understatement.
I am a fan for life. I know I raved only about Simon but the Cast and Crew all did such a wonderful job. Congrats to them all.

Another season. Sigh me up.

You telling me I get another round of watching TharnType. Please sign me up. I didn’t care much about Leo and Fiat and wouldn’t be watching their series. Back to my boys. People saying there was not character growth. Please spare me the sanctimonious comments. They were young guys, one was in love for the first time and still coming to terms of what it means overall. Plus let’s put your relationship on TV and see if it’s always smooth sailing and no childish arguments/issues.
Anyways I loved it.

My best BL series ever.

OMG, what can I say. Tharn&Type were chemistry goals. Their make out sesh-es never felt boring or contrived. It was hawt, steamy and everything you hope for. They both fell hard. Tharn was just more vocal while Type was more demonstrative (jealous). There were some questionable scenes to start but I forgive them for that because I ended up absolutely loving their relationship.
I have rewatched so many times and will keep rewatching.
PS. I have seen all the recent MewGulf fan service shenanigans/situations come out so I’m not bothered about that nor will I stop rewatching because of it, as I’m not watching them as MewGulf instead I am watching them as TharnType. I suggest a lot of BL fans follow this mindset to avoid feeling disappointed about there favorite BL couple who seem real due to fan service.

Good enough

I have read so many people saying this is the best KBL of all time. It’s NOT.
Although I say it’s not, it’s still pretty good. The best thing about this series is the dialogue, cinematography and music.
The acting was pretty good overall and the dialogue felt like how people communicate in real life. It touched mental health, I’m so over this new trend of mental health this mental health that because a lot of people have started using mental health as excuses for their weakness/shortcomings and it has taking away from people who are actually really suffering from serious mental illnesses/ health. And in the case of this series Jae Won was genuinely suffering from it in a bad way and I am glad that we got to see him work through it with a therapist.
The cinematography was top notch and most of the close up shots were so beautifully done. I loved the beach/water shots it was beautiful.
The music selection here was sooooo good. Hence the only 10/10 I gave.
Why then did I say this was not the best KBL. The series felt very choppy. The transition was way too horrible, It cuts from one scene to another, sometimes you don’t know if it’s a flashback or current or even a dream, and honestly sometimes the series was not making any sense. But the leads had mad chemistry and their relationship was cute and all, so there was that.
I personally won’t take someone like Jae Won back after everything he did even though I understood why he did so. I honestly get the trauma but what if something happens again, then you will shut down and shut me out again and what go back to your ex again. I watched on VIKI and someone in the comments said they would advice Ji Hyun to stay the hell away from Jae Won, I understand the sentiment but while I agree on not continuing the relationship I don’t agree with him staying away, I think he should just be only friends with him but that is my opinion. Plus I hate when a relationship feels like it’s only on one person’s terms and timeline which was the case in this relationship. Jae Won pursed him 1st, kissed him 1st and then ignored him afterwards. Then the Un-fateful beach trip was also on Jae Won’s timeline and even after the unfortunate incident, he alone decided to shut Ji Hyun down to “protect him”.
Their getting back together was also on Jae Won’s timeline.
The two best character was the boss lady and Ae Ri IMO.
The 2 ladies were awesome plus their acting was really good.
My best scene was the classroom scene in ep10 between Ji Hyun and Ae Ri, I tried to be fair to this drama in my rating. I was originally going to give this 6/10 because of the choppy and bad transitions of the scenes but I decided against it and was instead going to give it 8/10 but that Ji Hyun and Ae Ri ep10 classroom scene alone made me add .5 so my overall rating is 8.5/10.
I didn’t love this series and I liked it enough but not enough to rewatch.
So rewatch value is 5/10.

If only

Let me start by saying it pains me so very deeply to rate this drama lower than 10 because I love Bai Lu so much and I like Luo YunXi a lot and their acting here was as incredible as I thought it was going to be.
Bai Lu played her characters something fierce. You could feel Ye XiWu’s inner battle between wanting to kill the chance of the devil lord resurrecting because of the horror she personally witnessed and falling in love with the Tantai Jin who isn’t yet the devil lord. The naivety that was Sang Jiu came through the screens and although Li SuSu was majorly relegated to the background during the final lifetime arc, BaiLu still managed to do her justice at the end part of the series when she finally shared the center stage. Kudos my girl.
But I must confess Luo was indeed that star of this show. He shone so damn brightly. God damn. If you think about it he had easy/hard characters to work with, easy in the sense that you can picture what they are supposed to be and emote it, hard in the sense that you can give either too much or give too little but boy oh boy he gave just the right and perfect amount. I was sold on all the characters. The way he played all the characters is mighty impressive. MingYe indeed felt like the god of war, Tantai Jin in Cheng Kingdom felt like a maltreated hostage and Tantai Jin in the Jing Kingdom felt like an unbeatable king. Cang Jiu Min felt like a sect member, and then what can I say about him playing the mighty and devious devil lord that would do his performance justice, I don’t think I have enough words to describe the performance so I will go with absolute perfection.
Why then isn’t this a perfect score for my rating?. The impressive acting displayed and the wonderful cast were seriously screwed over by their writers and I’m not sure I can convey enough how much the writers royally screwed the actors with this weak, useless and illogical plot. It was sooooooo painful to watch, the only thing that made me not drop the series was the combo of one of my fave actresses in Bai Lu, one of my fave CDrama couple in BaiLu & Luo YunXi, the magnificent setting/CGI, costumes and then the music.
The CGI was top notch, the costumes were so beautiful, elegant and powerful, it was a visually pleasing experience
The music was also so good too. Someone said that some of the outfits worn did not match the scene they were featured in. I kinda of agree with the person. Sometimes they felt overdressed for what the scene called for but I forgave them for that because the costumes were just that spectacular. Since the plot was rubbish anyways I might as well get my satisfaction from seeing beautiful costumes.
But god damn that plot was a total mess. I know with fantasy dramas the possibilities can be endless and the writers have a sort of freedom to go outside the box but that’s not what happened here, I had zero problems with the three lives and all but that’s where any sense in the plot ended. The rest of the plot just felt like the writers just wrote whatever the hell they wanted and to hell with the viewers and just honestly without any regards to the intelligence of the viewers. The writers didn’t feel they had any accountability to the viewers and I for one reached and exceeded my tolerance level for the foolishness that the plot became and I started fast forwarding after the dream arc. Lemme tell you, you cannot make up the incredulous nonsense the writers tried feeding and selling to us and I wasn’t eating or buying their crap. The level of misunderstandings in this drama was just so freaking unrealistic and unbelievable. Most of the decisions and actions taking by the characters did not make any sense. I understand plot device and plot advancement and when it’s done well you can forgive it and suspend your disbelief but when it’s cheaply done, it just ends up playing on the intelligence of the viewers. My friends and family know how much i hate when anyone tries to play with my intelligence or lie to me. I tend to be super unforgiving about any and both of them. It’s really hard to describe how awful the plot was without going into details and I can’t because I doubt the space will be enough and I don’t care to make this review lengthier than it’s already going to be. We have someone who is a known liar and a manipulator (to be honest I could not understand the power that was giving to this character in the first 2 lifetimes, it didn’t make any sense) but when she speaks grown ass people, supposedly smart people at that just take her her word as gospel. The amount of times I posted “so ridic” in the VIKI comments section where I watched can make up a script.
I’m not going to further waste my breath on the character that is Tian Huan and Ye BingChang, she was already giving way too much importance that I’m not willing to give her anymore. Although I do echo someone else who said they were glad that Sang Jiu gave her a solid ass whooping, although it wasn’t nearly enough in my book for what she deserved but alas we got what we got.
The amount of blood they spat in this series was enough to start a drink business lemme tell you. Lol
Gongye JiWu’s arrogance and delusions of grandeur did not evoke whatever the writers thought it would, I just found him super annoying useless. IMO he was basically more weak/useless after every lifetime. It’s unbelievable and he was intolerable to me.
Even though he temporarily betrayed Tantai Jin, one of my fave characters is still Nian Baiyu, the way he was loyal and loved Tantai Jin unconditionally was something for the books.
Another thing that I didn’t necessarily like and was not a fan of at all, was that they went a little too far with the satanic occultist vibes.
Honestly a part of me regrets watching this but I know i would have watched it because of my love for the cast members I stated above. I live by a code, I might not care for something afterwards but if I make a decision to do something, I will stand by that decision. So ultimately I can’t really say I regret it. But I definitely won’t be rewatching it that’s for sure

Quality over Quantity

Wow. Such a good series with matured cast and matured acting. The cast did such a good job portraying their characters. Oh and that chemistry was definitely chemistrying…. I can’t honestly say which was better, their conversations/banters or the way they look at each other, both were simply magic.
I honestly wish CDramas will transition away from the baby/childlike talking FLs and ridiculous cliched/tropey filled plots and give us more matured like dramas like this. I doubt that will happen as it seems the mature plots is not popular with their targeted audiences, which is such a shame as the minority are constantly subjected to a regurgitated load of mess.
I highly recommend this drama

My guilty pleasure

My absolute favorite CDrama/Asian actress Zhao Lusi (she’s the best Chinese Actress IMO) + one of my favorite CDrama/Asian actor Yang Yang, then add my favorite genre Martial Arts to the mix, to say I was in TV heaven with this series is an understatement.
I have rewatched so many times already and I am currently rewatching while writing this review.
The only thing I hated was Hei-FengXi’s love and devotion to his useless and wicked father. That man was a very jealous and small man. He loved Prince Ju because he thought that one was useless and wouldn’t threaten his power/position. But Feng LanXi was mysterious and smart, so he was always trying to suppress him. The funny thing is Feng LanXi didn’t even think of usurping his dad at all, especially since he could have done it so easily. Then the step mother was definitely a piece of work.
I actually liked Feng Qi Wu, she accepted things after she was shut down and contributed massively to the efforts of Prince Feng LanXi.
Prince Huang Chao, I don’t even know what to say about him. He wanted to rule the world so badly he forwent all common sense and deductive reasoning. He was a nice side character.
Yu WuYuan was indeed a worthy villain. He was so unsuspecting that even the extremely intelligent and cunning Hei-FengXi couldn’t see through him at the beginning. I didn’t like how the final fight went though, I kinda expected more and it was anti-climactic to say the least.
But the fight scenes and martial arts in the series was so well done and like I said earlier I was in TV heaven. My love for martial arts is unexplainable. My brother says why do I like people that are flying, and I ask him but you like Superman, doesn’t he fly?
Anyways back to the review. Then the legendary Bai-Hei FengXi Duo, my favorite dynamic duo. I read some people complaining about their chemistry and i for one don’t know what the hell they were talking about, their chemistry was plenty fine, this was not a romance focused series but still their chemistry was on point IMO. They understood each other and played well off each other.
They may not have ruled the world at the end but they sure as hell ruled it to perfection before going into seclusion.
The music here was sooooooo good. I have all the songs on my playlist.
Obviously rewatch value is 10/10 as I have rewatched several times already and currently rewatching at the time of this review.
I wish I could give it more stars but since I can’t.
A very solid 10/10 overall.
I highly highly highly recommend.

To Sir, Tian’s Secret

Despite my low rating I didn’t hate this series. But I didn’t like it either. I fast forwarded 75% of it from ep5. I got tired of the repetitive dialogue between Tian and his Mom & Yang and his Mom.
Almost the whole cast had the same exact face and expression in very scene for every situation. Yang’s mom was the worst of them followed by Jia. I would have put 1/10 for the acting but Yang, Pin and Jiu’s siblings were the only bright spots in terms of acting and giving different facial expressions to match the scene in an otherwise one face for every scenario acting so I added 2 extra for a 3/10.
I don’t know what Jia is doing as a servant if she is this all knowing orchid and different animal species concocting badass murdering queen. She should be the leader of the clans.
Someone just happens to always be listening in on other peoples conversations. I can excuse some of the eavesdropping as they made sense, but some were unplanned conversations but somehow someone was magically just there eavesdropping. The one that did it for me was when Jia overheard Bua and Yang talking in ep12. Jia has never gone to Bua’s place before that but all of a sudden she just happens to go over to Bua’s place and overhears that convo. Puh-lease.
The overall plot premise sounded interesting that’s why I decided to watch this but after watching the product, I can say it’s not my cup of tea.
Although I finished this it was a struggle and the fast forward button was maximumly utilized.
I changed my rating from 2/10 to 5/10 because of the last 3 eps. Although I still fast forwarded most of it the last 3eps were the best eps of the whole series, IMO.
5/10 overall rating.

Those intense stares/looks. Gaddaman ???

The chemistry in this drama was chemistry-ing lemme tell you. The intensity of the chemistry was the most I have ever watched in any Asian drama even Lighter & Princess ( but Lighter & Princess was still a better and superior drama all around IMO) but I feel this series was let down by the weak make out sessions especially after it still continued after years of dating, I’m not expecting them to shove their mouths down their throats like western shows but the kisses were to tame and so very unrealistic for not only the level of chemistry, passion and love they was portrayed but also the length of time they been dating.
I really liked the no toxic character in this drama, it was really a breath of fresh air, as it’s a departure from one of
CDramas favorite tropes.
Someone in the comment section on VIKI where I watched said that all the characters in the drama were there to propel the leads romance forward and that was such an accurate statement. I liked the camaraderie and sportsmanship that was displayed. I liked all the characters. The eye candy is this drama was overflowing. Special shoutout to our MVP brothers/cousins.
Although i won’t be rewatching this, it was a really good drama and i recommend.

Long but good

That fight scene (if that’s even what you call that) between Joo Won and the big guy in ep19 was trending on ridiculous. Really they were like I will just stand there and you punch me, then the other one will just also stand there and await the return punch. Really what was that scene?. I was mind blown because that scene was so surreal and not in a good way, It left me completely bewildered in an otherwise stellar production effort so far.
Anyways I did enjoy the drama overall. I actually preferred the adults story more than the kids because the kids really didn’t even have a story IMO and their abilities were significantly less than their parents or they were not properly trained, the north attacked because they felt the south were training new generations of talent, they really shouldn’t have bothered because that school was basically useless in training them, anyways as much as I enjoyed the drama at the beginning and midway point, I was ready for it to be over by the last few episodes.
I highly doubt I will be rewatching this but I still recommend if you like this genre because although there were some eye roll moments the drama was overall, really well done.

Watched for the leads

I watched this drama for both the leads and I was not disappointed in terms of the acting. The acting in this drama was really good.
Was up with the kiss scenes, both ML & FL can kiss as seen in their previous dramas so I’m guessing this was on the director and that was super disappointing, they had really good chemistry only to be let down by such mannequin kiss. Anyways luckily the story was good enough to let it slide. Now the plot was a little confusing at first with all the timeline changes and whatnot but after awhile you get the gist of it.
One of the reasons I didn’t rate this higher is because I refuse to accept the reason giving for why MinJu wanted to kill herself, claiming it’s depression, I disagree, IMO she wanted to kill herself because a boy didn’t like her back, when she came back in ep11 instead of Jun Hee, she was all well and good as long as Si Heon didn’t notice and continued to like her but when he finally realized she wasn’t Jun Hee all of a sudden she wants to kill herself, and also Si Heon and In Kyu were friends with her even before Jun Hee showed up, so that whole monologue of nobody talking to her and liking her was complete BS, In Kyu liked her but apparently that didn’t count because it wasn’t Si Heon, so I don’t agree with the reason giving for why she wanted to kill herself.
Anyways I don’t think I will be rewatching this but I recommend for a one time watch.

Gong Jun, Enough said

I will watch anything that has Gong Jun in it, as he’s my favorite Chinese Actor along with Johnny Haung.
This might sound biased because I love Simon so much but his acting here was so good if I do say so myself. I also liked the FL’s character so much, our marketing genius plus she wasn’t a woe is me character.
There was absolutely nothing I liked about the 2nd FL, she was such an incredibly bland character and for the life of me couldn’t understand what Jian saw in her but to each their own.
The way they glossed over that peace loan incident just so the FL and Gao Yi can reconcile was baffling, no matter how you look at it, his actions or even inaction if you may resulted in the death of her father, I know he didn’t kill her father but he might as well have IMO.
The last part of the drama didn’t make much sense honestly, the FL valued trust above everything especially after everything she went through and the ML characterization has always been open when it comes to business matters especially acquisitions why then did he hide it from the FL, it was for just no other reason than to have more episodes and the drama can have drama but it ended up cheapening the character IMO & it was a shame.
Overall I enjoyed the drama and I recommend
