Psychotic killer

The story line is rather interesting and thrilling but there are some brutal scenes that are difficult to watch. The actors/actress that play as Moo Jin Hyeok and Kang Kwon Joo perform well and make the "Voice" exciting to watch from the first episode to the end. Some side stories that is interrelated to the main story line. "Voice" could be shortened to 12 episodes since there are too many scenes that are repeated here and there. The good thing about this K-drama series is that it sticks to its core of the story and no "love scene" or "sexual attraction" between the two lead characters. The one that is difficult to stomach is that when we find out that Shim Dae Shik is the "mole/rat", it is typical K-drama series that the least expectant person is the "mole/rat".

Human and Animals Patients are Life Being

I really enjoy "The King's Doctor" K-drama series because it tells us about the meaning of efforts and achievements in saving the human and animal patients alike as a surgeon/herbalist/acupuncturist.

Doctor Baek Gwang Hyun and Nurse Kang Ji Nyung have good on-screen chemistry, even when they were still preteens, they look adorable as buddies. They enjoy each other company. Their smiles and happiness are priceless. Also, the actor/actress, Mr. Jo Seung Woo/Miss Lee Yo Won, seem to be comfortable working with animals. It is so heartwarming seeing them working with all the beautiful horses and other farm animals.

There is Love Triangle or rather three sided love triangle in "the King's Doctor". However, the second lead female (Princess Suk Hwi) and the second lead male (Lord Lee Sung Ha) characters have good hearts and do not destroy the first male/female lead characters. That is the beauty of friendships between Nurse Ji Nyung and Princess Suk Hwi, and Lord Lee Sung Ha's true love for Ji Nyung.

I find Nurse Jang In Joo is a benevolent and altruistic character, she is so lovely and classy. I cannot wait to see Nurse In Joo appearing on the screen. Nurse In Joo steals the show in her compassionate and calm manner.

I thought the character Apprentice Yoon Tae Joo (Mr. Jang Hee Woong) would steal the show like Legolas in "The Lord of the Rings" or Scholar/Warrior TalTal in "Empress Ki". Apprentice Tae Joo's initial appearance as a top student/his good look is an instant eye catcher, however, the script does not allow him to shine. At least he wins Nurse So Ga Young's heart at the end.

A happy ending for both Royal Physician Baek Gwang Hyun and Nurse Kang Ji Nyung, a match made in heaven. I hope they make more historical K-drama series like this one, about the lives of ordinary people.

An epic memorable story that spans several generations.

I strongly recommend "Toji" "Land" if you are interested in Korean historical drama. The screen writer Lee Hye Seon and Lee Hong Goo did a good job in writing the script that was adapted from the well known famous novel "Land" (토지) by Park Kyung Ri (박경리).

Lady Yoon is the matriarch of the Choi noble clan that owns a very large area of land in the countryside. She has a son, Choi Chi Soo, and another illegitimate son, Kim Hwan, resulted from a rape that she experienced when she was mourning the sudden death of her husband. Choi Chi Soo has an only daughter, Choi Seo Hee, that is intimidated by her cold and stern father. Chi Soo wishes he had a son instead of a daughter, however, he is infertile after he suffered syphilis from his interminable drunken carousals when Chi Soo went to Seoul to visit his ambitious cousin, Cho Joon Goo. Kim Hwan comes back to his mother's estate and works as a servant. Kim Hwan is attracted to Choi Chi Soo's lonely wife, and they run away. In his rage, Chi Soo buys a shot gun and learns how to shoot from a well known hunter. He fails to shoot his "half-brother, Kim Hwan. The intrigue that is instigated by Chi Soo's maidservant, Gwi Nyeo, declined poor gambling aristocrat, Kim Pyong San and villager Pong Yim goes astray. Also, the story involves people and farmers that live in the estate and their story enriches the story line.

The drama series tells the horrendous death of Choi Chi Soo, an outbreak of a contagious disease and the death of Lady Yoon. It also tells the love, conflict and betrayal between the characters that shows the spread of new culture that further undermines the Confucian values, the loss of the farmland, and independent freedom fighters against Japanese occupation in Korea. The drama series also displays the growth of intellectuals in Seoul, Tokyo, and the Manchuria, the activists fighting against Japanese occupation in Hadong, Jinju, Jirisan Mountain and Manchuria. It portrays the second and third generation characters' conflict, love, and hate, when Japan surrenders. The drama series "Land" is so engaging with fascinating plot, the actress Kim Hyun Joo that portrays adult Choi Seo Hee is exceptional and delivers her character's struggles convincingly. I especially fond of the child, teenager and adult pansori singer Bong Soon and her story.

I really enjoy this epic historical drama series that spans several generations. Wish the big broadcasting companies such as MBC, KBS or SBS would create and make epic historical drama series again.

I hope screen writer Lee Hye Seon would come back with another epic historical drama or heartwarming drama series soon. I love her excellent screen writing such as "GOLDEN POUCH as well as TOJI".
