The story had too much information regarding business, live streaming etc that I wasn't too interested in and it was what the episodes were mostly about. I made it up to episode 15 just for the male lead - even then I couldn't go past episode 15 even with fast forwarding. The female lead I found was somewhat annoying, there was really nothing in particular I can pinpoint but there was just something that while watching I just felt annoyed.

The music was nice though, wonder if there is an OST.

I liked the male lead, he was so natural in his movements and expressions etc... It seems that this is his first drama....so I am looking forward to watching more dramas from him, hopefully with genre or stories that I am interested in.

Nice to Watch Fun Main Couple

This is a 9.5 for because I really enjoyed the watching Chu Li and Zhou Chan. It made up for all the things that annoyed me.

I liked Esther Yu and how she portrayed Chu Li. There are a lot of comments about her voice and all, but I think it fits with the overall and I didn’t mind it at all. You’d think that she was acting too cutesy, but as I said it just fits with the overall character. She also played well in parts when it called for serious scenes. I liked Chu Li’s character. In the beginning I thought she was going to be the dumb female character who will be a pushover and bullied in the workplace. She turned out to be someone smart and got things done in her own way, sometimes while being cutesy  I loved how she dealt with Zhou Chan’s tantrums; sometimes he doesn’t even realize he’d been had.

I like Ryan Ding so I just enjoyed watching him  but he played Zhou Chan well too. His subtle expressions that tell all.

Their relationship was refreshing to watch, they communicated with each other, considerate and supportive of each other. Even that breakup and getting back together moment was just right, they were both reasonable – “I’m mad at you and I’m showing it. Realize where you were wrong. Sincere apology accepted. Back together.” No unnecessary dragging out problems – what a relief cause that always happens when there are too many episodes.

As much as I enjoyed watching Chu Li and Zhou Chan, it exhausted me to watch Jiang Yu Cheng and Gu Bai Zhi. I won’t go into too many details, just thankful that they finally sorted it out – well during the last two (?) episodes.

Great action, funny and drama all in one

I didn’t expect that I would enjoy this show. I just clicked on it out of curiosity and was hooked from the first few minutes. Action packed scenes were great, the actors and their doubles were great. It was nice to see the doubles featured with the stars at the end of the show.

It was funny in a not slap stick kind of way. The dialogue was witty and how the actors delivered it with their facial expressions was what made it funny. This group of five Counters was what you’d call team work. They were there of each other and loyal. Each character had their own issues but instead of being all sulky about it, they were there for each one and supported them through it. Even the two besties were great. It would be great to have friends like that.

It had its drama moments mixed in, but I think the show was well balanced. It just frustrated me that the evil sprits were super strong and it took everything from the Counters to defeat those but I guess we would have had a shorter drama if the evils were defeated too soon.

Nice wrap up to the story though. All in all a very good one.

A Complicated Love Story

Wow the story was so complicated, very manga like I think. There wasn’t a character that did not have some kind of past or issue, except maybe the two Kougetsu An apprentice who I don’t even know the names of. Most everyone was driven by obsession, revenge, desire to protect and sometimes misplaced as they mostly ended up hurting the ones they love. I kept thinking “if only if only” as I was watching, however towards the end, I realized that it was already complicated from the very beginning. I had thought there was one normal character that I could at least root for – oh well. The ones that I hated in the beginning turned out to be the more likeable ones – Jojima. I also do like Tsubaki and I felt sorry for him.

That aside, the costumes were beautiful. The sweets were pretty, very detailed; you almost wouldn’t want to eat them. I wonder how good they are though and what it’s made of, it looked like fondant and I’m not very fond of fondant. The next time I visit Japan I’ll try to visit a sweet shop. I’ll wonder what stories there may be behind making them.

Wasn't sure if I could finish but I did......

I almost dropped this drama around episode 8 but just kept on going until eventually I finished all 31 episodes - with skipping and fast forwards.

Dislike:
- there were A LOT of scheming characters, lies were really emphasized a lot (as the tag indicates)
- evil aunt and cousin who kept bullying the female lead and female just takes all the abuse and yeah female keeps of "trusting" and "giving second chances" which just ends blowing up in her face anyway
- a female character who does not give up her obsession with the male lead despite being rejected repeatedly
- the female lead's acting somewhat annoys me, I don't know if the character is supposed to be played that way, but the way she acts doesn't give me the feels

Likes, having said all that I AM GLAD that:
- there was no break up scene, male lead's love was strong and he was always and protective
- no amnesia scene THANK GOODNESS I thought they were going to have that after the fight scene
- Fang Zhiyou and Li Zhe friendship after they made up. Great team work. I wish we had seen more of those. It wasn't shown until the last 1.5 episode
- Shiyu! so adorable and probably the most mature of them all.

I liked the forensics investigation part of the drama. It's interesting However, the story revolving around each episode was super sad, painful and full of regrets for those involved. Each episode was about half forensic investigation and half drama.

I liked the forensics team how they work together. I initially did not like Toramaru-san, he was always so loud and didn't listen to reason, but he actually became my favourite character in this show.

Ryo Nishikido - I find him to be a good actor, hope to see more dramas from him in the future.

I wish I started watching this series on a Friday or Saturday, I probably would have finished it in one go. Great acting from the cast. The dialogues were funny. Hyun Bin as Ri Jeong Hyeok what can I say - dreamy, manly, sweet, funny. The four plus one sidekicks were a fun bunch of adorkables, they looked great suited up - Pyo Chi Su actually looked the best in suit amongst the five. Kim Jung Hyun was great as Gu Seung Jun - switching from being funny, serious and villainy. The village ladies were cool. I liked that they did not drag on unneccessary misunderstandings. Did not dwell too much on political stuff. A balanced mix of comedy and drama. A great watch!

Let me get this out of the way…if it wasn’t for Mike Angelo I would probably have dropped this drama.

I wanted to strangle Mike’s character, he was so wishy washy with his feelings. The i-promised-to-take-care-of-you-since-childhood angle was infuriating. He did redeem himself in the end as expected. Mintra’s character was so irritating – by the way it wasn’t because the actress played the character well – the character itself was just super annoying even when she supposedly realized her selfishness towards the end, I still didn’t like her. Aom-am at least wasn’t a total pushover. My favourite character was Guy – no nonsense and straight to the point.

There were cute moments; it’s a rom com after all. The leads looked cute together - especially when they were in their honeymoon. I did find that there were too many reminiscing moments and played back over and over – about three episodes I would say – it was like a travel documentary of Seoul (I wonder where the beach scenes were).

Rewatch? Not sure, there’s that annoying character that goes between throughout the cute moments of our leads.

Good watch - short and sweet

Likes:
- great acting by the leads - 👍
- comedy did not have a slapstick effect
- drama scenes were acted out well and not awkward
- romance was there, you can tell, without it looking over acting. Even the kiss at the end showed so much emotion and did not look forced
- there was no focus on the love triangle angle, woman knows when to give up without making a fuss - thank goodness!
- mother-son issue did not get dragged on
- support cast also did very well

Dislike:
- my most hated in every drama the “I’m breaking up with you for your own good” 😑. Well at least break up and make up all happened in one episode. That’s one of the beauties of a short drama.

All in all a good watch. I finished the series in one sitting. Great job Gerald Anderson and Gigi de Lana.

Enjoyable watch just a bit long

This was an enjoyable watch. I mostly liked it for the relationship of the main and secondary couples, the friendship and bonds formed along the way. I didn't care to much about all the conspiracy and villains, it was tiring to watch that made me feel that the drama was too long.

Likes:
- Luo Qui Chi and Wen Ren Juan - I liked watching them, they were a normal couple who got jealous and showed it, who got clingy sometimes. Told the other if there were upset about something and none of that noble idiocy thing - well except for one part which was brief so fine I will overlook. I liked how their relationship developed, they knew when they liked each other and had a somewhat understanding without having to say the words that they were together. There is a hidden identity tag and I thought it would be one of those that Luo Qui Chi goes to attend the academy with Wen Ren Juan and WRJ wouldn't recognize him for several episodes - sooooo glad she recognized him right away and they just them again from when they left off when she left the mountain. I liked how they teased each other shows how confident they are in their relationship, they weren't tiptoeing around each other.

Hang Ru Xue and Zhao Qing He - they were good together but they were especially great friends and support to LQC and WRJ.

The Emperor - he was just cute! There were two sides to him I wish he had more interaction with LQC and WRJ. - they treated him like kid when there was just the three of them and like a kid he was easily impressed with his "idol" and was very playful. However, he was also an emperor who weighed the situation and made good decisions.

Zhu Xiu Academy students - what I would call teamwork! - except for those two who annoyed me throughout the show grrrr.

All in all a good enjoyable show - towards the end if started to feel too long, I fast forwarded a lot even skipped full episodes I didn't care anymore how they got punished I was satisfied knowing that fact that the villains did get punished. I just wanted to get to the finale and see how it ends. Good ending.

Just saying - Kris Fan looks hot as Luo Qui Chi and more so as the Dong Yi Mountain Lord :-)

Very cute main couple

I give this a nine mainly because of Ke Lei and Mi Ka, they are super cute together. I liked watching their pre-relationship, their almost there stage and finally when they got together. I liked Ke Lei's character, he is a combination of traits - shy, but confident, serious and funny and totally in love with Mi Ka. It was funny to watch him trying to be romantic and all his efforts just goes over Mi Ka's head, I like how they tease each other, it shows how confident and comfortable they are in the relationship. I stayed mainly for them.

Now....it is 40 episodes long and I felt how looong it was. I did skip episodes and parts where I wasn't too interested in. I felt there were too many "distractions" LOL. I was especially annoyed with the Weng Bo and Qing Xia angle it just dragged on for too long. I did like Shao Yu Han and Xing Ke Yao though they didn't really have that much screen time - I think.

If this was cut down to 24 episodes it would probably be great.

Relaxing watch

This was a nice relaxing watch, what I was looking for to binge during the long weekend and take my mind away from all this lockdown news.

First I liked that Shao Qing and Cong Rong were equals. Both are successful in their careers, smart, good family environment with supportive friends and co-workers. So that out of the way, we concentrate on their romance. They got together early on.
This was a 28 episode drama so I was kinda dreading that it will take me through angst and prolonged misunderstanding. Happily that was not the case.

This show did not have too many conflicts - which is why I said it was a relaxing watch. There were the supposed love triangle - Cong Rong's boss liking her, Shao Qing's colleague liking him but those really didn't go anywhere cause CR and SQ were up front with them.

When I said that they were equals, they were not only equals in career. They were equals in the relationship too. Both were equally affectionate towards each other, equally demanded to be spoiled by the other so you can see that they are confident in the relationship,

This was one of those dramas that I wished the second couple - Wen Rang and Cheng Cheng had a little more screen time when they got together. Wen Rang is so cute towards Cheng Cheng.

Zhong Zhen....for a medical student I found him somewhat of a dimwit, but I guess that was how he was supposed to portray his character? Hmm...well, he did become dashing in the end though so I guess he grew up. He wasn't really bad - juuuust has the greatest timing everytime!

Finished in two days even with frequent rewinds LOL. It was a fun watch.

Good enough drama to pass time

I was ready to drop this episode in the first 12 minutes, picked it up after a couple of days since I was looking for something as a filler. I went into it not really expecting much but I did enjoy it. The main couple had a lot of cute moments. I liked Gu Yan Lou, he is probably the boyfriend that a lot of girls would like to have - good looking, smart and very supportive. Lou Zheng has the kind of face that looks like it’s always ready for a smile and can smile effortlessly. Looking forward to more dramas from him and hopefully as lead again.

As Ye Wei Mian was part of the relationship, she was tolerable. I did find her acting a bit childish and too cutesy, especially as the 1/2 of the relationship.

Going back to the main couple’s relationship. Aside from having cute moments, they communicated and did not have that miscommunication that got dragged on for several episodes - well until almost at the very end, which somewhat ruined it for me - I skipped that full episode. It would have been better if the writers followed the flow of them fighting it together hand in hand. I did like that they did not get back together right away when YWM had her “awakening”. It would have been so unfair to GYL. The ending is as what you would expect it to be but there was something missing for me. I still felt that GYL was “tricked” to go and just suddenly they were ok? But as I said this was not a drama that I went into for realism - it is a drama after all :-). The enjoyable moments outnumbered the irritating so all is good.

Love triangle was almost non-existent. The persistent girl gets ignored every time - very refreshing. The guy wasn’t annoying at all and actually developed some kind of friendship with GYL.

A lot of detours before the end

I liked the main couple. FL character was straightforward, strong, wasn’t a pushover and had common sense - rarely do we see FL characters like this. She was good in martial arts which was cool to see, it would have been nice if there were more scenes like that. ML character was good too, same, it would have been nice if we saw him do more martial arts - he was the nerdy but cool guy.

I would probably have enjoyed this more if it was shorter. The ML and FL relationship started early on in the drama and it started out good - they communicated and weren’t shy to show their feelings. But I guess because of the length of the drama there were some plots that felt repetitive, even unnecessary I think. I skipped full episodes and some scenes which I didn’t really care about but still was able to follow the story.

All in all it ended well, but as I’ve said, it did take a lot of detours to get there.

Relatable and Fun

A very relatable drama set during these times – COVID 19. I can relate to how it showed the changes on the way we go about our daily lives and work, our interactions with friends and colleagues. How we cope with being alone, social distancing, mandatory wearing of masks, disinfecting, hand sanitizing, working from home, etc...

Despite this, the show was enjoyable and fun and did not make light of the whole situation. It truly was a rom-com.

Haru was so funny as Mimi-chan/sensei. Matsushita Kouhei Fu-chi, excuse me, Ao-chan was too cute. I like how honest and straightforward they are in a dorky but mature way. It’s really a mix of everything.

There were different types of relationships portrayed through the support characters – the ups and how the problems are addressed when it came up. Mamiya Shotaro as Gomoji-san was good. I liked his character – he seemed like the easy going type but was actually very supportive in a subtle way.

A good watch.
