I liked the relationship building in this…

I liked the relationship building in this episode. That's important in a drama - especially a romantic one.

I also find myself more and more curious about Eun Oh's father. He seems to have cared for his son, if he raised him as a nobleman. But Eun Oh is so fixated on his mother that I'm thinking - does he like his father? Was his father mean to him? But he goes around throwing his father's identity in everyone's face too, so does that mean he is proud of his father? Complicated mystery for me. And even more interesting than the ghost story going on.

Honestly, I think I'm rating this episode…

Honestly, I think I'm rating this episode based on the interaction between Arang and the Magistrate. Not to mention... costuming! Lee Joon Gi looks awesome in his red magistrate outfit.

What tripped me up though was the 21st century music in the fight scene. The music fit the scene and the action lol, but not the era. I was not expecting that. Also, every time he whips out that fan I keep expecting it to have magical powers - won't that be cool? Thank goodness that it finally does.

What adds to the drama (but I don't like) is how the Gods, Joo Wal, the woman, Moo Yong - actually everybody is using Arang without her knowledge or regard for her safety. The only one who cares about her is our Magistrate who was supposed to be self-centred and cold. Ha, love them together. And we got a halfway confession out of him LOL. Overall this was an excellent episode.

OMG, I can't even! Hahahahahahahahahaaaaa.

OMG, I can't even! Hahahahahahahahahaaaaa.

Some laughable quotes "You can't go to the toilet and the underworld in someone's stead." And... "Hey, get me my shoes" while in the middle of a fight scene. I couldn't stop laughing.

Jokes aside, there were real, serious moments in this episode. This was all rounded and well done. Lee Joon Gi delivers as always and Shin Min Ah is great. She's such a diverse actress she can do anything well. The partners in crime were the best too. I loved everybody here, including the Angel of Death. And I think the real villains are those two men in heaven lol.

Great Drama

I put off watching this for years despite all the reviews saying it was great. I just thought I wasn't going to appreciate it as much in earlier times. I am glad I waited until now. I can give this my full appreciation.

After Scholar Who Walks the Night, I was looking for something to watch and picked this because of a comment on Viki saying Lee Joon Gi's costume on Scholar is similar here. This is true. In Arang, my personal opinion is that he acts better as well.

This show captured me in the first minute - Lee Joon Ki's character is so funny. His assistant was the one who caught me though. That guy lol. His first line is about poop hahahaha. This episode was so funny but you can see the plot building being done gently but firmly. It's not serious yet, but I can see the potential. Meanwhile, I am so enjoying Arang getting the upper hand on her Magistrate. I love her character. She is so much more than a helpless female. As a ghost she can do what she likes and behave how she wants. What freedom.

Justice!

In this one, justice was served. That was some plot full of holes though for Xu Wu's scheme to turn out as it did. And a hasty, stuttering, thoughtless Imperial Astrologer was not what I expected nor was it 1% believable. I mean, the old man schemed and lived this long. Don't tell me he doesn't know how to talk his way around a 20 year old girl.

So the King meted out justice, but I think it will only bite him in the ass. He left them all alive and left his son hurting and with a thirst for revenge.

Still a real good episode cause we finally got rid of Nai Nai. Nai Nai stopped trying to keep her poor granddaughter from her own fate. I feel sorry for Xu Wu though - she has nowhere to go now and he Nai Nai will no longer be around to teach and help her. Sad.

But our OTP! Kawaiiiiii!!!

Zeng'er... really?

Well, things get moving in this episode. I don't yet understand why other viewers thought Xu Wu was a stupid character. In my opinion from this episode, no one is stupider than Zeng'er.

Evil characters ruled the day here, but I still feel good about this episode. There is so not going to be any princess selection haha.

Biased rating

I gave this episode 5 stars because this marks the entry of Zeng'er, the rift between our OTP. When she first appeared, I hated her fake smile and didn't like her on principle. I also took an hour break after her introductory scene to help myself get over it. And the poor girl hasn't even done anything yet!

Now let me vent.

Xu Wu and her prince are so stupid! The prophesy said Princess Zeng - indicating that Zeng is the family name. Zeng'er is the girl's first name. Her father's name is Ying Gao. I see Zeng nowhere there. Duh! Nai Nai, you messed with our leads heads! They're silly enough without you.

So I was tempted to skip the episode halfway when Zeng'er arrived at the selection, but I'm glad I stuck it out. There were some funny scenes between our OTP and of course, George Hu. Xu Wu totally swept them away!! Our Prince blatantly showed his preference and we end the episode on Zeng'er hearing from his own mouth that he will choose no one else except his wife.

Only thing - aside from Zeng'er - is Nai Nai. Old lady, stop lying and interfering.

Don't believe what you see

So in this one, we get exposed to more characters and I've got to say, Kings are stupid. I'm actually rooting for the bad guys in this episode after that 1st scene with the king. The king himself is fostering jealously between the young people in his family. And he doesn't even think how treating his incompetent son incompetently in public is going to affect the boy's mother. He's an idiot and I so don't mind if his wife and son plot against him.

Infact, I'm rooting for the Empress. She seems like the smartest person in this cast yet.

We also see Gao Wei can't understand his own mistakes. Well he's an arrogant prince and his father raised him so, so why complain, Old Man?

We also see how enchanted Lan Ling Wang is with his sorceress/wife. And the control she has over him. Poor girl tells him to get married, and off he goes. This is epic laughable stuff.

Word of warning, when watching this, remember to take everything with a grain of salt and laugh. Even through the serious bits - they're all just so funny.

Destiny vs Nai Nai

This was a real real good episode. This drama keeps me unexpectedly hooked, even though it has no unique ingredients - (if you don't count the many, many romantic scenes. I live for those scenes).

Everything in this episode was interesting, including Gao Wei and his evil advisor. I like them atm because they are so comical and so expected that I laugh when I see them. That's good for me since I don't like to see villains getting the upper hand and hurting out OTP.

What was interesting is the opening scene and how we can see the events that led up to Gao Wei's decision (we all know history cannot be changed). And as evil as the characters get, I always remind mysel of history - Stupid, jealous Gao Wei got rid of his greatest general and that led to Qi falling to Zou and the Gao family being ruthlessly and gruesomely slaughtered. If that isn't karma and Lan Ling's heaven sent justice, then I don't know what it. Lan Ling will get the last laugh, hahahahaha. My heart and head are at ease despite all the evilness we will encounter in this drama. History already took its justice.

The acting in this drama is spectacular. Gao Wei, his advisor and George Hu, plus Xao Dong really bring out this episode. I like how they are being portrayed (Gao wei and his advisor are 1 dimensional but Xao Dong is fleshed out) and that we get more of them in the story. George Hu ... man, I'm watching for his smile. I love his roll as the cheeky fifth brother. Love him!

In this episode also, we get to see Lan Ling Wang all protective over Xu Wu, and also his pain upon thinking she wants to leave him for him to fulfil his destiny. But out Prince doesn't care about that - he cares about his 1 wife lol. We also see Xu Wu conflicted about what her heart wants and what her granny says is right. I understand her so I'm not annoyed at her confliction. What I am annoyed about is Nai Nai. Nai Nai lied to her and keeps misleading her (I guess Nai Nai wants to protect her but granny should know there is no stopping fate).

I keep screaming at Xu Wu like an idiot... "Nai Nai is lying to you! He says he has only 1 wife, and girl, you're already it!!! Nai Nai is trying to mess with you!! Nai Nai never made you happy anyway, so just go be in love. Love him and comfort him before he dies!"

Good episode. I laughed through most of it - which is what I wanted so win for me.

Still okay

Well this was horrible only because Xu Wu sacrificed herself to the hated (by me) Yu Wen Yong. I skipped most of it, but must say, - brave lady! Other than that, the episode was okay. I especially liked how she was the one to save out Prince in this one hahaha.

My rating is low because Yu Wen Yong and his company had too much )for me, not the drama) screen time. I wanted to see more lovey Prince and Xu Wu.

spoilers

So I heard reviews about Yu Wen Yon's role in all this. I'm finally seeing the beginnings of it and let me say... "Yu Wen Yong, dude - you're so far behind, you can't catch up! Hahahaha....."

I don't like his character. He has a faithful wife at home who clearly loves him, yet he wants our Prince's Xu Wu. Man, go jump into a dry lake! He even states that he wants her to conquer the world. He's an ass. He's already creating misunderstanding between our OTP, and he doesn't even like her for her!... Despite what she went through for him. I only hope Xu Wu learns from this and only trusts in her Prince from now on, but based on drama experience.... my hopes are low.

And Lan Ling Wang... get a move on! You know everyone wants your girl, yet you're stalling and want to send her back to her mountain. True love (to send her back) but that's impossible. Marry her to secure her! Pali!

I found the Xu Wu character to be quite smart in this episode, just, her EQ is mighty low. I heard it gets lower, but I don't blame her. She was mega sheltered up to this point and Lan Ling Wang is still sheltering her. But she needs to catch up cause I don't want to drop this drama.

It's okay

Well, I finally see Ariel Lin's character's stupidity masquerading as naivety. However, as irked as I was, it was still a beautiful episode. The OTP got legally-fake-married LOL. Oxymoron at it's most hilarious. Now our angel Ariel is going to save her prince, only to jeopardize him, I'm sure, and have him save her instead.

There was even a moment where one old man character looked at our Xu Wu and literally wondered where his lord picked up this crazy girl. This show is so funny!!!

Are viewers sure Disney didn't write this script? It's a mess, but features enough cute moments to keep you watching. This is not a political or a war drama. This is pure romance and angst.

It Caught me Again

More romance!! And of course, we started with a laugh and a little funny scene.

In this one, I really think Nai Nai is stupid. She insisted Xue Wu go off to be humiliated, yet is angry when her Prince tries to help her.

Also, Nai Nai, if you want to be obeyed, explain a little more!!! You are trying to keep xue Wu from her destimy, but everything you do pushes her further into it.

And I feel sorry for our poor OTP - the lines they spew out is so foretelling - him wishing her happiness and a long life, except we know his entry into her life already signed her fate as unhappy, hard and untimely. Too bad.

Script is all over the place, but acting is fab, and the OTP looks good together so far. Will it last?

So So

I stared this with high hopes - i mean, who would't with a title like "When a Man's in Love" and Song Seung Ho to work with. However, I quickly dropped it.... until i skipped to the last 2 mins. I love this drama!

Love

This episode had all the romance I could want! After seeing Boss and Me, I am so glad I was convinced by someone on MDL to watch this again. This episode had everything a romance lover could want! That ending though!!! I was screaming the answer for her - "Yes!" of course.

But I am a little disappointed because it's bad that such good things happen so early in the drama. Things can only get worse for our OTP. Let's see what happens next.
