what happened?

how do you ruin a good romcom movie? by attempting to crush viewers' hearts with an unexplained twist.

the start was strong and had a good buildup to the chemistry between bora and woonho. with a decent cast, on point aesthetics and amazing sismance, i was ultimately hooked at first. the romantic scenes had me yelling to the void at how i wish i could revoke my 'i'm single' card. even though the camera was a bit shaky in some scenes, i was able to push through and say, "this is definitely a 9. without a doubt"

but..... the ending....

the thing is i have no problem if they made this a hundred times more angsty and make a main character's death more tragic than my whole life is right now. i'm into that shit. the PROBLEM is how the movie felt like a half-baked lasagna. it didn't even feel like an open ending. we just know "oh, they're dead" that's it.

cause of death: unknown? does hyunjin know? what happened?

instead of me crying over this character i once loved, i'm clouded with curiosity. the ending took away my attachment to how sad the death of this character is. in my opinion, there could've been a better way to end this movie without leaving the viewers with a question mark on their head.

i am conflicted about how i feel when it comes to this drama.....

first and foremost, bohnduen who? why are they the main characters? they were cute at the beginning but then sadly as they progressed.... they became boring and annoying i just had to sonicc my way through the episodes and skip their scenes

why didn't i like bohnduen?
-bohn's actions were kinda creepy? i just found how he was pressuring the heck out of duen not cool....
-bohn has no right to treat duen like he's some sort of object he possess and also he should chiLL like ffs this dude gets jealous about everything and i don't understand how tf duen is the one apologising !!!
whether you're in a relationship or not, you can't limit your partner to not have interactions with anyone else lol
-sO repetitive !!! legit the only conflicts they have is bohn getting jealous bc someone came an inch closer to duen liKe bRuHH
-cheesy and not the good kind of cheese
-i feel like they would've done well as side characters

mekboss? more like mehbore hA sorry yeah idk what to say about them except that mek's actor deserves better they did him dirty with that dubbing

fiNALLY RAMKING THARAFRONG THANK YOU JESUS
-if these 2 couples didn't exist in this drama, i have no clue how i would've survived watching this !!! i absolutely love these two they truly stole the show
-ramking are the softest boyfriends (i know they're noT official bUT THEY ARE OKAY SHUT UP FIGHT ME)
i love how they cared for each other at their lows and i melted like a goSh darn puddle
i couldn't find any reason to not sacrifice my heart to these two (i am in a cult yes)
-tharafrong? yes they have the half of my heart
thara being the purest out of the purest, having a pet lizard called cupcake and him cleaning places when he's not in a good mood???? hence, thara best boy
i feel like their scenes were a teaser bc we didn't really get much out of them buT I'M ABSOLUTELY PUMPED TO SEE MORE OF THEM IN SEASON 2

therefore, ramking and tharafrong are the superior couples and you can't change my mind
(hi i don't welcome war thanks)

the disappointment meter is broken

7 years.... of love?
the title must be a joke because i did not see much of the development of the main couple's relationship.

when i thought season 1 was bad, this was just sad to watch. after seven years of being together, one picture of their gay partner and a woman somehow set alarming signals for type's side. instead of being mature and talk to tharn about it, he takes it upon himself to sAve tHe dAy. oh don't get me started with the misogynistic remarks type made and the tiresome bl line that was rearranged but still means the same thing.

where is the trust in this relationship?
definitely not in episode 10 when tharn gets hella pissed because type supposedly kiSsEd fiat when it's so evident type pushed the guy away? again, i ask: WHERE is the TRUST in this relationship?

after seven whole years, both of these grown ass men can't sit down and talk on how to fix the flaws in their relationship.
now... you may think: this can't get any worse, right?
you're in for a surprise because it can get worse! type, a whole grown ass person literally thought it's a good idea to kidnap fiat and threaten to break his leg. am i watching a romance drama or a thriller drama?

i couldn't find myself rooting for leo and fiat because of how unlikeable fiat's character was. the writer failed to give us any proper backstory of why we should root for fiat. yes, his father left him when he was a kid and so leo took him in but what else is there? your past trauma doesn't mean you can be an A+ asshole.
leo could've been a tolerable character but it frustrated me to see him continuously forgive fiat's actions even though he knew damn well it's not right. it was so annoying to see him take fiat back in when he should've left him be. episode 11 was just sO bad with us being clowned with the whole "i aCtUaLLy loVeD yoU tHe wHole tiMe" and leo actually agreeing to type's idiotic plan from episode 10.

what's more disappointing is that this could've been a story with focus on tharn and type figuring about each other's remaining insecurities, finding ways to understand each other and also an explanation on why type refused on marrying tharn. put aside the multiple couples, filler scenes of unnecessary characters like the creepy eavesdropping guy and the failed k-idol trainee. instead, show us glimpses of the past seven years (not just from s1) and how much this relationship developed, make us believe that these two were truly together for seven years and also show us actual maturity between these two.

i was willing to watch this second season with a clean slate and no recollection of first season... the final episode looked like the perfect beginning for the drama but sadly, this drama didn't make a redeeming comeback. some scenes of tharntype and other couples being cute were nice but that's about it.

sweet as candy

as one who's a bit picky with jdramas, this one was such a surprise. it's nothing complicated. this drama is an all round fluffy romance involving a marriage contract.

what totally solidifies this drama as a whole for me is the male lead's swoon worthy respect and pure love for the female lead. one aspect in the main leads' relationship that truly caught my attention is how good they communicate their feelings. ami was reluctant about sharing her thoughts at first but she had character development and it was overall nice to see a couple that communicates and no unnecessary misunderstandings happened or dragged.

it was refreshing to see a gentle and caring male lead that respects boundaries and consent, also helps his partner to be more open without being pushy or overboard. a cute ass smile adds to the bonus points.

seeing a character with unrequited love accepting reality and not being petty is honestly so great to watch. the ex girlfriend was seen to be not toxic and supports the characters and gave a heads up to ami about marriage life and how it's different for everyone. these type of characters add depth to the drama despite being a simple fluffy drama.

overall, this drama is so soft and light hearted which will make you pinch your cheeks to stop you from smiling too hard.
p.s. the intro song is a bop and the choreo somehow lowkey reminds me of the pick me up song lol

frustration at its finest

tw// mention of rape

the trailer made me go, "oh! this doesn't look so bad! it looks cute and light! let's go for it!". well... the drama in its entirety is a hot mess. no, it's not the spicy good kind of mess that makes me look forward for more episodes. it's the mess that makes you wonder what went through the heads of the writers.

one thing that made me hooked into wanting to watch this is the actors from past dramas i watched. i honestly kinda feel bad for the the actors because it feels like they were trying their best to make up to portray their characters. sadly, there's literally no depth to the characters despite ton's dad brainwashing his son with such nonsense and misogynistic beliefs. the writers had the chance to give depth to ton's character and show his side of the story but we got absoluTeLy nothing! so, the whole time i couldn't help but detest ton because he was honestly being such an ass and made chon uncomfortable in the early episodes pressuring him about banging a girl to prove his masculinity.

three years with ai and ni.... not once did ton suspect anything going on???? i may be a clown but i haven't reached this level of clownery yet. i also couldn't find myself rooting for ai and ni when they forced chon to come out to them. another character that grinded my butters was nueng... what was the writers thinking making a rape victim attempt to rape someone????? honestly.... in each episode, i felt like i'd end up hating every single character. thankfully, characters like chon's mom, na, the nail lady and miriam exist.

the chemistry between chon and ton is not bad... but it's quite plain. the way their relationship developed itself is questionable. dude legit banged chon after confessing and chon, one who's known to always be the frantic type in such situations didn't flinch one bit. i honestly found ton unlikable and his possessiveness didn't appeal to me at all.

if there's another bl drama that features a revenge driven ex girlfriend after this, i'm officially teleporting to space because i'm so done with it.

overall, this is a drama that isn't anything new that does have a few charming points (comedic scenes and few likable supporting characters) but completely fails to keep my interest to the end.

don't cry, craft

i'm not sure how to correctly describe this drama or if there is a right way to perfectly capture words that sums up this drama because there isn't...

this drama almost feels like a kaleidoscopic view from a newborn witnessing different walks of life and circumstances. in other words, the different stories of the deceased and main characters geu ru, jeongu and songu... they all remind the viewers of what it's like to be human in an almost raw way (even taking in real life events).

one thing i can say is this almost felt impossible to binge because of the emotional impact most of the stories had on me. perhaps the situations the characters had are so similar to real life that it ignites heavy emotions. if anything, i'd crown this as the biggest tear jerker this year so far.

overall, this drama paints different stories and portrays various point of views and delivers great emotions. this drama's title should probably be changed into "move to tears" because *sobs*

i'd like to have my life back before i watched this baloney macaroni because rn i want to bury my memory of this drama deep in the very depths of depths.

why is the fl so painfully naive and just spineless? there was no character development to her at all
what bothered me was that she got sexually assaulted by this dude then she decided that it's a good idea to work for that same dude???

idk how to feel about the main leads.... their chemistry felt a bit unnatural? there was no buildup to their relationship lmaoooo it's legit big bang theory lol the main leads met and kABAM cupid did their work
it was hilarious to see them hug and talk about their undying love for each other like they've been dating for eons when they legit just met

hmmm the ml's actor is eyecandy i can't deny that bUT i couldn't stand how creepy possessive he was
also what's with the ml appearing at the exact timing that the fl is in danger? is this dude jesus?

kurosawa is love. kurosawa is life.
therefore, multiplying adachi with kurosawa equates to infinite rays of sunshine.
(not to be confused with plants vs. zombies type of sun)

out of all the bl dramas that recently came out, this one was such a delightful surprise. while many found the last 2 episodes lacking, i'm just far too deep in the hole i dug and so i succumb to this addictive fluff.

what is so good about this drama? it's just a chill feel-good drama that deals well with portraying characters who have different personalities but all in all, they have their different point of views. there was no failed attempt at delivering characters with depth and while adachi may be the typical shy character, it was worth it to wait every week to see him try his best at getting out of his comfort zone to try new things. kurosawa is literally the most patient and lovable character i have seen so far. i loved seeing a character who respects boundaries and someone who may seem perfect to others but he really wants to be seen not only with his looks. the episode centered around his point of view was wonderfully done.

fujisaki my girL yooooooo i absolutely love the writers for not making her yet another revenge obsessed type of character. alike kurosawa, she is seen as someone who consistently has her self together. the truth is she does get tired too. she's the sweetest and supportive friend. i'm conflicted whether we deserve her or not.

i can't entirely say anything much about the side couple. they didn't appeal to me that much but it was entertaining to see chaotic tsuge trying to get his shit together. minato trying to achieve his dream is admirable. the combination of these two somehow works and i liked seeing adachi help tsuge and minato get together. it goes to show how pure their friendship is.

why should you watch this?
-story is a bop.
-acting is a bop.
-music is a bop.
-rewatch value is a bop.

overall, this drama was like the light at the end of tunnel in this year. it's great to see noncomplex couples with no unnecessary love triangle and overexaggerated drama. be prepared to swoon tho.

we best love? we do love!

as a sucker for enemies to lovers trope, this was like an early valentine's day present from a lover that i don't even have. the tone of the drama is simply cute and the plot is pretty simple with some sub plots that will most likely be explored in season 2.

the chemistry between shou yi and shi de is unarguably present throughout the drama. i believe despite the simple and non-extraordinary plot, the viewers (me, myself included) were looking forward to every week's episodes of fluffy and squeal-inducing atmosphere that the main leads brought about.

probably the only thing that was a hit or miss for me was the acting of some side characters (i'm just nitpicking) or the way certain scenes transitioned. in terms of acting, i'd say the actors did a good job. shou yi's actor shook me to the core when i found out that this was his acting debut. the romance between the leads wasn't awkward or forced. i could see that they had a natural chemistry and it definitely makes me look forward to their future projects, whether individual or as a pair.

another hit or miss was the ending. i'd say the finale felt like the calm before the storm. the cute scenes between the two had my trust issues at its peak and i was thinking it was building up to something destructive. we were briefly introduced to shou yi's dad which didn't feel warm at all. the ending sort of felt empty and shi de leaving didn't really give me a feeling that it's an impactful scene. however, it's nice that there was no big fight scene and it didn't end on a sour note.

overall, a cute drama like this is always appreciated as i prefer seeing the main leads bicker (in a good way) and be whipped for each other. all i can say is i'm tired of misunderstandings so this is a good pick-me-up drama.

this wasn't sweet at all. hella salty.

the title sounds cutesy so why? what was the point of this drama? why would you make me want to eject myself into the sun? i'm a masochist but gosh darn it this was so frustrating to watch.

this is just another straight drama with frustrating main leads.

i don't see anything extraordinary about the fl and it honestly makes me question why she's the fl.... the scene of her not being able to back herself up when facing those homophobes demanding her program to be cancelled..... for once i wanted her to have some courage to stand up and tell them why she made her program and that there's absolutely no reason for her program to be cancelled
when things were going haywire with her program and her boss quit, she was asking "who will help me with this?" like ????

the ml was so annoying ohmygod... i get that at the beginning he was desperate for money because of his dad needing surgery but then he continued burying himself with lies after another which made him a very selfish character
a straight dude pretending to be gay then leading a gay dude???? and y'know who he thinks about? the fl !!!
this guy straight up talks to kang tae wan about how he might hurt ah jin if he told the truth but hasn't he thought about how it hurts kang tae wan? how he misled everyone to believe he's gay? how there are actual gay people having difficult time to come out???? he was receiving all sorts of support but he didn't do anything.... he waited for shit to hit the fan.... how irresponsible can one be???

kang tae wan is the only character that was decently written
it's honestly a shame that this character has limited screen time because i could care less about anyone else lol

in conclusion, i'm in the process of lowering my expectations

rain, rain, go away. come again another day.

if you're giving this a go with a thought that this drama will tell you well-written stories about love and all that fancy stuff, you might want to think again. 'love in the air' attempts to depict two couples with interesting themes but fails to feel like a solid drama.

now, let's jump right into the couples
phayu x rain:
one thing i'll have to say is that there is no logical progression whatsoever in their relationship. besides the questionable actions of phayu wherein consent gets glossed over, as the episodes went on, their relationship felt like a compilation of sweet and intimate scenes but there was no proper story. the timeline itself was iffy.

what made their story a mess was the editing. it was nonsensical to the point that there is no telling what scene the viewer will see next. while that might work for something else, the way it's done here makes it seem as though the drama was jumping from one scene to another with little to no explanation what happened in the previous scene. one example is a cute scene when phayu asks rain to wait for him so they can have dinner together. it then abruptly cuts to a whole different scene and sets a completely different tone leaving the viewer with no time to adjust.

despite the negatives, this couple actually deserves better. the relationship dynamic was pretty good and phayu grew on me as the episodes went on. the actors did super well to make their chemistry work on screen. the intimate scenes had me pausing every second because whew it was a lot to process. make sure to have your earphones on.

prapai x sky:
another one bites the dust. in the beginning, the consistency of prapai not understanding how important the word 'no' is really frustrated me. just because they had a one night stand (which btw sky was pressured into it) doesn't mean prapai has the right to get into sky's life. clearly, there's a fine line between 'love' and 'harassment' and i think pai sort of falls under the latter.

what sky really needed was a proper support system and lots of therapy. on the topic of support system, he has his parents and his friends who could lend him an ear or two when he needs it. however, the bl formula is to skip the therapy and rely on a handsome hunk is the best way to go. in other words, he can 'fix' him. in the end, sky still has to live with his traumas and having no control over them.

despite prapai frustrating me with his actions, i can't deny that those sweet moments the two had in the last episode made me almost erase everything else. i feel like prapai in the last episode was the best prapai out of all the episodes. however, the message that love can somehow eliminate your traumas is absolutely bullshit.

even though i didn't enjoy this couple as much, the pacing and progression of their relationship was much more developed and smooth. there were still some problems with transition of scenes but it was not as bad. at least prapai x sky story was easy to follow through and there were less jumping of scenes.

so... what bothered me the most?

both couples have different feel to them. their stories have interesting themes that can branch out into a very engaging drama. however, what i was served is half of 'what could've been'.

one thing that everyone must've noticed was the constant raining that made some scenes 100x hilarious. the use of the main couples' names were evident throughout the drama and in some way, i feel like it was overdone. there were at times that the sound of wind added to the scene minimised how impactful that scene was. thankfully, peat did well to portray his character's traumas. though i wasn't a fan of fort's acting, he nailed the emotional scenes.

honestly, i have no clue what goes on with the production quality in this one. the background music was at times distracting and not fitting to the scenes. for some scenes, the music would go on longer than it should and it almost overpowered the dialogue of the characters. the voiceovers were poorly done. for real, i hate to say it but the editing team did a lackluster job. while the pacing was odd for payu x rain, the production quality got worse for prapai x sky.

this is one of those dramas where i can't help but complain over the quality of the drama because there were so many factors that bothered me that usually doesn't bother me in other dramas.

overall, there was so much potential with this drama. if more time was given to the production team and tweaked the parts that lacked coherence, 'love in the air' would've made me like it a tad bit more.

for such a short drama, it didn't feel flat at all. the story is well paced and had the right amount of angst, balanced by the chemistry of two individuals with different backgrounds.

sure, the tsundere and upbeat dynamic is not new. ji woo has a stoic personality but deep down, he's a caring dude. seo joon has a fun type of personality but he also won't back down when someone's being a dick. one thing i loved is how straightforward seo joon is with his feelings. he doesn't hesitate to express himself and it was refreshing to watch.

"I didn't want to get hurt again. And I didn't want you to get hurt either. But staying away doesn't prevent getting hurt either." -Ji Woo

the conflict between the main leads was understandable with how unpredictable things can go due to seo joon's fame and the homophobia they'd face. seo joon doesn't care what society thinks while ji woo is scared from his past experience.

i'm just happy that the plot didn't go for a complex route so things were resolved easily and the pace of the story didn't become overwhelming or mellow. acting wise, it was pretty good. ji woo's crying scene and the slight angst definitely made my heart yeet into two pieces. seo joon was undeniably quite a charmer and his smile is hella contagious. i must say the acting is decent and i'm impressed.

overall, this drama revolves around two individuals helping each other grow with each other's support. bonus points for the ost.

"stomp my heart

make me choke
but god let me be damned
don't make a shitty ending"
- yoonthethicc at 3:38 am

the way this started off so well... us being thrilled about this fake dating deal the main leads had going on, how the pre-dating part where we were actually feeling the chemistry ohmygoD the chemiSTRY SHE WAS EXISTENT BREATHING SHE HAD A LIFE Y'ALL

*pause* okay before i combust let me tell you guys how i love sarawatine's friend groups
-oh to be tine and have fong as my friend (plus points for good advices like tF i want that shit)
-oh to be sarawat and have man and boss (nothing feels as good as having supportive chaotic idiots running about and giving you and your partner smug faces)

*resume* tHE FREAKIBG FLASHBACKS GOD FORBID I GET THAG I'M NOT THE BRIGHTEST TOOL IN THE SHED BUT I'M PRETTY SURE I RRMEMBER THESE SCENES PRETTY WELL

WHY DIDN'T SARAWAT JUST TELL PAM THA- what i'm trying to say is that sarawat didn't make any sense in episode 12 y'Know what episode 12 and 13 didn't make sense but i can't make myself to get mad that it's a cliche bc gosh damn it i'M frustrated okay?

how episode 12 could've been resolved:
-sarawat introduces tine as his boyfriend to Pam
-sarawatine sit both their asses down to talk about their insecurities in their relationship
-sarawat makes it clear to pam that there's absolutely no way of them getting back together
-a kiss in part 4 at the beginning when sarawat says smth about tine being his and his only (we're robbed and that's the truth)
-type sitting his ass down in that scooter thing (wtf are vehicles) with man and we get a clip of them smiling and shit
-mil going to the bleachers to talk to phukong

my problem with the ending is that it just there was no proper resolution to the conflict that happened?? we just got flashbacks of sarawatine and boom tine is there cheering for sarawat like dude.... you cried buckets for this... you could've cleared a drought dang it

it almost felt like i watched an ending to those bad romcom movies..... awesome ost tho ahaha

This is definitely the best BL drama that I've seen this year. You've got comedy, fluff, mystery, action and angst. I mean... a police officer and a gangster ?? They fall in love ?? What more can you ask for??? There is absolutely nothing I didn't like about this drama. The actors knew how to play their roles and made the chemistry believable to the point that I was just... blown away ??? By the way, the actors' friendships off screen are super cute I love how they seem to get along pretty well.

I wish they can make a second part to this because there's still so much I want to see. Perhaps a Jack and Zhao Zi spinoff? Or a second part where Tang Yi gets out of jail. Will the relationship between Tang Yi and Shao Fei be stronger than before or will it fade?

Honestly I've watched this drama about 5-7 times now but I just can NOT let go of the characters. This drama will definitely tug at your heartstrings and wholeheartedly captivate your heart, subsequently causing you to have the urge to rewind and watch it all over again.

how ridiculous can it get?

we get it. the ml is smoking hot. everyone has their undergarments in a twist. however, is there more to this?

this is the type of drama wherein you don't use your brain. the plot? it left the room a long time ago. from the get go, it's obvious that nothing here makes sense and we are here to watch a shitshow.

for a person that wants to take revenge, you would think that they'd carefully orchestrate a clever plan to make it happen. in this drama, the fl takes the opposite route and she's as lost as a malfunctioning google maps app.

the relationship between the main leads is as questionable as it gets but oh... the acting? *chef kiss* even though all the characters were frustrating to watch, i can't deny that the cast made sure their efforts paid off. the actor that played the villain was so good that no matter how absurd the plot is, he somehow looked eerily clever. what a shame that the story was played around with when the cast is decent.

overall, this was a drama i was able to enjoy because i didn't take anything seriously. i'm curious what more can they do with a second season or how far can they go?
