First let me say that I really enjoyed this drama. The acting is pretty good overall and the characters are all well done. I especially liked the relationships between the 4 guys. The four girls are not given as much time together on screen so it's harder to be fully invested in that group. Though the FL and her BFF are great together.

It's not angsty and I LOVE that. I was not a fan of the "game" aspect of the show. I understood why it was there and it is an important part of the story, it just wasn't a part that I enjoyed much. I often found myself fast forwarding the game sequences. The romance in the drama is sweet and the main couple is great together.

If you're in the mood for a sweet romance...this is just the ticket.

Is it possible to fall in absolute love with two characters? Absolutely. This show lays a special place in my heart because I'm a gamer myself and I adore that this is an aspect and that's how the two bonded and how everyone in general bonded in this show actually. The friends were absolutely hilarious; it's kind of nice to see that the guy is wonderful and sweet and just completely in love with the main female lead and she was the same way back and got their connection was just all around wonderful. Plus can we say the nerdy gamer side is AMAZING. God, the two together is just complete fluff and they make your heart flutter until no end. This show is absolutely amazing, you'll binge watch it until no end, even though some don't. It's okay if you don't but man, these two are just cute together. It must be a ship thing at this point because I'm obsessed.

This is the very first review I'm writing after, idk, 6 years of watching dramas? English isn't my first language so I have always been a little scared of writing a review but I decided to give it a try today bc I love rating and analysing shows that I like. So here we go.

More often than not, I really like more sweet, light romances type of dramas. Some of them are among my favorites. But this time I did not find it so great. I felt like after the main two characters got together, there wasn't really anything to make me want to keep watching besides the accomplishment of finishing it. And I'll explain why I think that happened.

Story: the plot, or actually the synopsis, is very nice! I thought it was unusual to see a gamers as more than just the nerd side characters, and giving them normal personalities and actually making the whole drama about a game in a very natural way. Now, the whole exciting part was about them getting together in real life. What doesn't take too long to happen. AND I don't think that's a problem, I like when there's not too much unnecessary drama about getting together when two characters clearly like each other. But there wasn't any other goal good enough to make me keep watching.

Cast/Acting/Characters: So I don't have any problem with the cast. Both main leads are very beautiful, what I think fits the characters description. (besides the fact that there's supposed to be something awesome and maybe sexy? about WeiWei's body and I didn't find anything besides ULTRA THINNESS in Zheng Shuang's body -- but that was very easy to ignore and I wouldn't call it a problem). But then I thought the characters are too... bidimensional? Like, they are too much of only one thing. Too correct, too pretty, too perfect. There was only barely 2 moments when WeiWei actually felt legit sad. And Xiao Nai is, again, just too handsome, too smart, too confident. And basically never had mood swings in the entire drama. He only showed when he was happy or concerned. And that's it. There wasn't more to them. And even if the drama wouldn't explore their past or give them situations to show their other faces, if they were a more fun couple then maybe I'd still be happy just watching them together without facing any obstacle for 20 eps. Xiao Nai never does anything wrong, he always says the right thing and does what you expect him to do. The most "fun" thing about watching them together is the fact that Weiwei is shy and she is often relucitant about Xiao Nai straight forwardness. But it isn't fun and honestly I couldn't relate at all. I mostly thought she was being unnecessarly shy bc there wasn't really anything that embarassing? But well, for this part maybe that was just me. I was having more fun with the side characters relationship actually but it's not given enough attention and it wasn't given anything more than "okay" resolves.

Music: It was okay I guess. Yep.

Rewatch Value: With a few exceptions, I don't usually rewatch dramas, but this one is definitely a nope for me.

Overall: I don't regret watching it. It was good, they picked a good theme and very pretty actors. I'll compliment it for not having unnecessary and tiring drama, and the fact that the antagonists were never even close to affect the trust the main couple had for each other, which is nice to see. It's a sweet romance but I wouldn't say it is exciting type of sweet like a cake? More like water with sugar or maybe cotton candy. Not too much flavor besides the sugar, dissolves quickly but you eat it until it's over without much problem.

I've watched this drama back in 2016. I can tell you that based on my opinion, there wasn't a lot of dramas that fall under the same type/category as this one, and I'm guessing that was one of the many reasons it was popular. This is gaming related drama, that provided a little bit of fantasy because it shows them playing the game and being in the game. There will be a lot of cliches and cringe moments, but the storyline is fluffy and cute as a little refreshment from all your melodrama, etc. Overall, all I can say is watch it as your own risk, some of you might like it, or some of you might dislike it, and I don't recommend this to first-timer since this drama have a lot of mix feelings, and it can change your way of understanding or in the progress of getting to know Chinese drama.

To be honest, this is the most light hearted, easy to watch, feel good drama I've ever seen! The plot is so good, the acting is super good, yeah the kissing scenes are a bit awkward but what amazes me the most is the GRAPHICS! I am super awed and super wowed with the graphics! I rarely use the word beautiful but damn! The game graphics are BEAUTIFUL! Story wise, it's really not hard to fall inlove with the story. Personally, it's really hard to watch dramas that has heavy plots thats why i try to stay away from heavy dramas. Though this drama got some conflicts, it's pretty easy to take. Their character growth is also.something that i applaud. Both characters are smart. Also, one is a masochist and the other is a sadist, so both compliments each other. I've been rewatching this drama a lot of times already to the point that its hard for me to watch other dramas of Zheng Shuang and Yang Yang.

This drama was filled with squeals and fluff for me. It’s actually a really good drama when you get invested in it, even though many many people hate the cliche details.

Story - I honestly thought the story was fun and exciting. The computer effects for the gaming parts were overall ok, but the movie version was better. By no means am I saying that this is unique in any way so if you’re looking for something different, this isn’t not the drama for you. I personally just like Tom reminisce on the cliches. Fortunately, there are many parts in this drama where I laughed my butt off. Especially with the friends of Xiao Yang. Unfortunately, there are many unlikable characters in this drama and I absolutely can’t stand them talking shit about the main character so I tend to skip many of those parts.

Acting/Cast - As much as I would love to say the cast was absolutely amazing, I can’t bring myself to do so. It felt like the chemistry between the two main leads were super awkward while all the supporting roles acted more natural. It didn’t feel like the chemistry built up enough. There were many parts with cute romance scene though, but you will occasionally get that awkward tension.

Music - Music was average to me. Good melody, nice beat.

Rewatch Value - Quite frankly, I barely ever rewatch dramas even if they were super good. Just a personal preference.

Overall - Nice story, fluffy romance, main leads are hot, supporting roles are funny as hell. Not much could go wrong.

Until we meet again!

You find a pic of this drama under the word FLUFF in the dictonary

This is a slow I mean SLOW drama. If you want to know how much social media has damaged your attention span you should really try this Cdrama.
All jokes aside. This drama is probably one of the most uncomplicated dramas of all time, it is no drama that drives you to the edge of your seat.
Both of the leads are pretty much green flags and the only thing annoying in this drama is the story line of the FLs friend.
I fell in love with Yu Banshan (A friend of the ML) and even though the costumes were meh and the cgi looked funny I really enjoyed that they included some fighting scenes.
A few years ago I would rewatch this drama regularly and I think it is a really good drama to start with. I hope you give it a try because this drama (even though it is a really slow built up) is really good.

Bonus: Banger music

My first Chinese drama! And it could be described in one word: soul cleansing. This is the second drama I've seen that has succeeded in the impossible: no insider couple melodrama. It is smooth sailing from beginning to end. I was still on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing, just waiting for it. I’m so used to internal conflict that since it had been so peaceful, I was just anticipating it and wanted to get it over and done with. But I was pleasantly surprised to find the show continued its fluffy and relaxed pace throughout the show.

Did Love O2O say healthy relationship™ rights or what? I can’t even begin to explain all the reasons I love Xiao Nai and Bei Weiwei, both as individual characters and as a couple.

- 100% trust and faith in one another
- Communication!!!
- Support one another
- Actual soulmates??
- Crossed every item off the couple bucket list!!!!
- Stand-up for each other always

And can we talk about the fact we did NOT have to deal with the following:

- Disapproving in-laws
- Misunderstandings
- Unnecessary love triangles (technically we did have Cao Guang [foreign languages genius] & Zhen Shao Xiang [her in-game ex] interested in Weiwei and Meng Yiran [the campus beauty] interested in Xiao Nai [I mean who wouldn’t be interested in the literal university campus prince/lord] but the relationship literally did not even sway a tad)

I feel like I need to write an essay on the perfection that is Xiao Nai. How can the perfect human male exist???

- Kindhearted
- Effortlessly cool
- Body of a greek god
- Handsome as HELL (I could look at him all day)
- Intelligent
- Good at everything (except cooking, teehee - but hey he didn’t say he was a bad cook, he just said he only knew how to cook noodles lol)
- A good friend, boyfriend, boss
- Looks out for others
- A feminist icon
- Told Weiwei that they would never fight, he would never doubt her, would still be with her even if she were unfaithful and would work to turn her around… like damn. What a MAN
- Following on from that, like can we replay that iconic scene where campus beauty Yiran calls him up to meet to talk about Weiwei (more like spread false rumours) and he responds “Not interested” and just hangs up on her???! I was liVING
- Or when Cao Guang says “After watching the video, you never doubted Weiwei? You trust her that much?” and the prince of my heart replies “Why wouldn’t I trust my girlfriend?” like sWOON - that’s exactly the way it should be!!!
- I just love him a lot okay

And Bei Weiwei? Also a queen

- Super nice
- Pretty
- Doesn’t let others walk all over her, stands up for herself (and others!)
- Smart af
- Also an amazing gamer (like her husband)
- Can you tell that they both have almost identical great character traits?? And that’s why they are perfect for each other

And can we also just talk about how Xiao Nai was the Qing University’s prince with every girl falling to their knees around him, he was so famous it was crazy - and Weiwei is a bit shy at first with their relationship being on show but she never has insecurities about her not being good enough for Mr. Perfection Incarnate which was SO refreshing. She can stand on her own two feet and they behave like a normal couple around campus. And even better, people (girls) were never like ‘omg how did she land a guy like him’ or ‘she doesn’t deserve him’ or any crap like that. In fact, the boyz were even saying ‘Nai, you landed the department beauty within 5 mins!! mad respect bro’ like they were on a somewhat equal playing field! Everybody (minus Yiran’s posse) supported their relationship, how nice is that!!

They were honestly married throughout the whole thing, with terms like ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ being thrown around by their friends always (since they are married in the game). Like they were That™ couple. THE couple. When she was first brought to their office, all the guys were like “omgomgomg it’s Nai’s future wife guys!!!1!” amazing.

And another thing I loved was Weiwei’s friendship with the squad: the boyz. Aka Nai’s 3 roommates; later co-workers. I just realised that dramas never show the male lead’s girlfriend interacting much with his friends??? Why is that? Why are there always a million second male leads, but never any healthy interaction between the female lead’s boyfriend’s guy friends? It was so wholesome! They have such a fun dynamic, she teases them - from the one who can’t use idioms properly, to Mr. Girly, etc.

She has such fun with them and they also defend her!! When her name was being dragged through the mud, they posted her results to prove how smart she was. Or when Nai made his and Weiwei’s relationship official and friend Hao Mei was the only one who wasn’t filled in that Luwei Weiwei was Bei Weiwei (even though it should be obvious with that identical name lmao) but Mei was ready to fight and ran to Nai saying “what about your gAME WIFE?!? what would she say you m*therfu-“
hilarious. but also, such pure intentions, we stan.

It’s also such a simple thing, but my heart skips a beat whenever Nai introduces Weiwei to people and naturally says “this is my girlfriend Bei Weiwei”, so underrated. It’s the little things!!!

I was also a fan of how the trope of the ‘bitchy’ popular girl who’s out to get the male lead wasn’t taken to the extreme? She honestly was a pretty nice girl. She just had shitty friends who gave her terrible advice and she was swayed by them because of her crush. And then at the end, she apologised to Weiwei for her actions, aw. Nice. That’s how it SHOULD be done.

I could probably go into more things from the plot to the secondary relationships and the soundtrack but I’m content with just going over the important things. But I will mention that I liked the addition of the ‘game world’, as it added another dimension to the drama. Although the CGI was trash, it was still a good addition and it mixed it up.

Overall, this show is everything I love. I wish more shows could be like this. Drama-free, easygoing with loads of cute moments and healthy relationships. This drama was a 10 from me, how could it not be.

zero chemistry leads

I so wanted to love this drama. There are so many things about it that I love!
The plot line is something I enjoy; a regular, slow/paced romance and a lead couple who communicate and don’t let silly things get between them. The gaming element is fun too.

Unfortunately the acting leaves much to be desired. The ML is fine, I would probably enjoy him in a better written show.
The FL is stiff and heavily heavily dubbed, which can be uncomfortable to watch as the dubbing isn’t synced very well. At the beginning I liked her, but as she interacts more with other actors her stiffness becomes very obvious.
The more the two leads interact, the less I’m convinced of any interest between them. I like a story that starts off strongly with the leads falling for each other but it’s soooo badly written, I simply cannot believe or understand how they come to like each other. The actors also have NO CHEMISTRY!

Really, I don’t blame the FL for the poor overall quality of the show. The writing is horrible and production made a lot of decisions with the finish on the show that make it more cartoonish than dramas should be (aka the dubbing).
The terrible writing made it impossible to like any supporting characters.

One trope that I despise is a group of men gathering around the FL like her protectors just because their friend is dating her. it’s so unrealistic and I wish we could drop it and show normal friendships/ interactions between a couples friends.

unfortunately I’ve had to drop halfway through, but I’d love recommendations for a similar storyline that is executed a lot better!

I LOVE THIS DRAMA. To me, this is one of the best drama I've ever watched. The conflict is not too complicated. The main male lead, Xiao Nai, is SUPER CHARMING, a genius, a patient person, basically he's a guy that a girl would ever dreamed of. I can't help it. While Bei Weiwei on the other hand is well, supporting Xiao Nai. Their relationship is chill. They trust each other, so it doesn't have that kind of annoying misunderstanding scene.

I really really really enjoyed every single episode of this drama. Just because they make the conflict doesn't seem so complicated. And indeed, there are annoying casts which I hate. Dunno why but the antagonists in chinese drama are super annoying.

As for the acting, to be honest the girl who played Bei Weiwei doesn't act that good. Especially for kissing, she doesn't know how to kiss! This is annoying. While for Xiao Nai, well he's sometimes too stiff. But that doesn't bother me from watching.

Will definitely rewatch! Xiao Nai is too sweet!!!!!!

If you’re looking for a drama that breaks the mold and is completely different from most typical dramas then you’ve found the right one. There’s no love triangle, there’s no rich arrogant chaebol that rescues some poor pathetic girl, there’s no hateful meddling parents, there’s no unreasonable separation of the main leads for a ridiculously long time, and there’s not a bunch of constant misunderstandings over silly things. All of the typical cliche storylines used in most Asian romantic dramas are not used here and it’s so refreshing.
What there is, is an equal partnership between two equally amazing people that navigate the ups and downs of life together without ever doubting each other. They learn and grow together and we get to be a part of their amazing journey. There’s lots of laugh out loud moments, heartfelt touching moments, cute fluffy romantic moments, and suspenseful moments.
This drama takes you into the very interesting world of gaming with excellent special effects. I’ve never been into gaming but I loved it when the drama took its characters into the gaming world. The fight scenes, costumes, scenery, and storylines were all very interesting. And I liked that it helps us to see that gaming isn’t just about playing around and wasting your time. Many people get into gaming as a career and enjoy creating new games for others to enjoy. Another point it made which I’d never thought about was how gaming opens up a new world for those who are disabled or home bound. They can enjoy their own little gaming world and make new friends and go on adventures.
This drama throws in some very colorful characters that you come to adore. I enjoyed seeing the handsome genius Cao Guang’s character growth as he went from being such a cynical untrusting person to one who trusts those he holds dear without question. Another favorite character of mine was Er Xi. She was such a quirky and adorable little nerd. I felt her pain as she learned from her mistakes and became a better friend. What really makes this drama stand out is that the all of the side characters are really well written and acted. They make you love them and you become invested in their lives. I’ve watched hundreds of dramas and I’ve gotten to where I often skip through the scenes of the side characters if they’re boring. But not with this drama. They’re all very charming.

I also appreciate how this drama shows that being pretty and popular isn’t that great and it has its down sides too. Wei Wei went through some awfully unfair situations through no fault of her own just because people were jealous of her looks and popularity. There’s tons of character growth and no character is one dimensional. Every character is has depth and growth. The bromance is one of the best I’ve seen. And sismance is adorable too. The way all of the friends have each other’s back is touching. Seeing the main leads completely trust one another as they learn many life lessons in both the business world and in their friendships is refreshing and very unusual for a romance drama. There’s lots of kisses and chemistry which is a must for me if I’m watching a romance drama. And the music is really good. I find myself humming along to the tunes as I watch the drama which is very unusual for me.

The only downsides to this drama is that even though there’s lots of kisses the female lead lets the male lead do all of the work. She just looks kind of nervous and shy and just stands there. But if you see the two actors together behind the scenes they are very flirty and super relaxed with one another. Obviously her character is just written that way. The character she is playing is supposed to be very confident at a computer or with her inner circle of girlfriends but around her ultimate crush she’s extremely shy and nervous. But yeah, the kisses could definitely be better.

Watch this if you are looking for a light, fluffy, romantic drama that’s teaches many life lessons with tons of character growth, really adorable characters and is very light on angst and melodrama. Sometimes after watching a really deep angsty melodrama I watch this to relax and de-stress. This drama is like taking a palate cleanser after a really heavy filling meal. It’s light and refreshing.

Don’t watch this if you are looking for a deep, dark, melodramatic, drama with lots of twists and turns and angst.

Very cute rom-com

This show is super wholesome, sweet, and romantic. Looking for a show without a lot of melodrama, just the chance to watch the main couple be cute together and hang out with their fun friends? Then Love O2O is for you!

The plot revolves around two college students who meet while playing a popular computer game and quickly fall in love IRL. The main couple's chemistry is pretty cute and fun to watch. They also have a great group of friends. IMO the second FL and ML aren't as compelling; the 2FL can get a little annoying although her character does grow over time.

A lot of the show's first half takes place inside the video game that the leads play while the second half takes place more in real life. In addition to the romance plot, there's a parallel storyline of the main ML trying to get his video game start-up off the ground, which is pretty entertaining to watch, too. There are a couple villains, but they're generally pretty tame. In fact, compared to other C-dramas where the villains are always stirring up misinformation, these ones mostly just pout in the corner, lol.

I would recommend this show as a very light and wholesome watch :)
