MUST WATCH

In the drama the acting done by both male leads as well as the supporting cast is phenomenal. The drama is neither too exaggerated nor it is having loose threads. The drama is a simple and pure love story without any drastic plot twists and is fun to watch. The portrayal of male lead by yang yang is justifying the role and the female leads ting us also good. If you love to watch drama which are pure love story and has smart leads do watch it. I rarely re-watch the dram but this is drama which i have watched i think 3 times. and the drama is fresh and mind soothing every time I see.

Romantic and fun

I have watched both movie and the drama. This drama is lovely and funny. I really have to mention that Yang Yang is So gorgeous and his kisses are also soo good lol. I like this drama version better than the movie. I think that the only annoying character is Er Xi(for me). In the movie Seven Tan (tan song yun) played er xi and I feel that the movie version of Er xi was better and mature. Wei Wei also did her part really well. Both leads have a good chemistry. I really love Xiao Nai's best friends. They are so funny. The story is quite entertaining. Although there are love rivals, they fail to break apart the leads. The best thing about their relationship is that Xiao Nai really trusts wei wei. He doesn't let misunderstandings to enter their relationship.

I have watched this drama 3 times now. It is lighthearted, sweet and fun. It is a perfect non-heavy, non-complicated romantic comedy. The comedy is subtle and very tongue in cheek which is why I love it so much! The romance is unexpected in places with some seriously smexy undertones and realism that I only really caught on the second viewing. If you are not into MMORPG, this might be a nice introduction as romances do truly form this way. Crazy, but true. If you are a gamer, you will love this even more as it is so relatable in that regard in the story. Have fun and watch this one!

Great 1st half, not as great 2nd half

OVERALL
This drama is one of those light, fluffy ones. Watch it if 1) you're all about looks, 2) you want to see a real, gentleman-like male lead, 3) you like female leads with a backbone. If you 1) don't like esports, 2) are not into college dramas, 3) can't stand plot holes, skip.

THE STORY
It took forever for me to give this drama a try because it had two things I'm not really fond of: a college setting an esports. But now that I've watched some pretty good dramas with esports I was ready to give this one a try, and while it's not great, it's not that bad!

The Good
- Female lead has her own edge. She fights back when people attack her and she can playful too. She was nice!
- OTP's parents are all cute. Loved that none of them were the unbearable, cliched crazy in-laws.
- First half of the drama (the "falling in love" part) has a good pace and is actually interesting, including the esports parts. I binged it all in one night!

The Bad
- Typical, cliché third wheels who can't take no for an answer and make everyone's life miserable. I've said it before and I say it again, at this stage, this cliché should have been long dead. It's boring and unoriginal.
- Male lead is okay (though not really special), but he keeps making decisions without consulting Female lead, and I don't think that's anything we should aim for in a relationship. It was uncomfortable to watch.
- The obsession with looks in this drama is also uncomfortable to watch. Part of it is cultural, I know, but I'm still bothered. In this day and age, shouldn't we encourage putting importance on less superficial things, like, I don't know, personality? Skills? Not to mention that they keep praising Female lead when the actress looks malnourished...it's really not promoting healthy bodies.
- The relationship between OTP and their friends is cute, but the friends themselves can be annoying. Especially one friend on Female lead's side (whose the supposedly-cute-but-actually-childish-and-immature type of character).
- Some things are clearly plot flaws, and it's off-putting. Like when there's a misunderstanding and Female lead can't think about why there is even though she's the reason for it.
- The second half of the drama just feels lackluster in comparison with the first. When the leads get together, the relationship just turns kind of bland. They tried to play it too cute and it didn't cut it for me.

THE ACTING
To be honest, I wasn't impressed. The good news is that it's not distracting to the point that you have to stop watching (except for Male lead's rival, he's so bad it's ridiculous). The bad news is that the chemistry between the leads is...very questionable, which contributes to the 2nd half feeling so tame.

THE MUSIC
No comment. Can't even remember any of it and just finished the drama.

REWATCH VALUE
Not that high. It was okay as a first-time filler, but there was no "wow!" scene I'll be dying to rewatch. If I need to, there'll always be other options.

I watched this show on a whim and being that I am not into gaming I really enjoyed it more than I thought!
I did not think the gaming aspect took away from the actual plot at all, but made the relationship develop and I think it made it more interesting. I def fell in love with Yang Yang who plays the main male lead and his acting had me swooning for majority of the show and makes me want to watch more shows with him! The show was a soft and slow and usually I do not like that, but for this show it works so well and I do not mind it. I would recommend this show if you do not mind a story that takes its time and shows the full development of the relationship! <3 <3 <3

I'm not a gamer but I really enjoyed this drama. It was pretty unique in how it showed the characters in both the gaming world and the real world- I've never seen anything like this before. The main leads had chemistry, there was bromance (among the male lead and his buddies), sismance (among the female lead and her buddies) and most of the characters (even the antagonists) were either likeable or managed to redeem themselves in the end. The relationship between the main couple here was cute and believable. One criticism I have is that the main male lead was too robotic. I liked his character and his relationship with the FL a lot but...he just didn't seem human. I don't think it has to do with how 'perfect' he was. I've seen a lot of dramas (Korean dramas, Chinese dramas, Japanese dramas etc) with perfect leading characters and this never bothered me if the story was well written. But in here, ML didn't seem to have any emotions except for being smiling, confident or blank faced.

The FL had moments were she felt bad (ex: when her friend grew angry with her etc) and moments where she appeared to be a normal human girl (ex: giggling with her friends, getting upset, feeling unhappy, etc)...but I never witnessed the ML here go through any human emotions like that. It was pretty weird...like watching a mannequin walk and talk. There are a LOT of other MLs (ex: Ye Hua from Eternal Love, etc) that fall into the 'perfect male' category but for some reason, even Yehua who happens to be an actual god seemed somehow more human than Xiao Nai. I think they should have given him scenes were he shows just a little bit of vulnerability. Another thing that bothered me was how all the employees in his company were male, save for the FL. I wouldn't have minded if they had thrown in a few female programmers. It would have made it less unrealistic.

Still, it was a pretty good drama. There were serious moments but nothing too angsty and its overall lightheartedness made it a fun, relaxing watch.

Loved it!!! Just finished watching, and I have to admit that I didn't want it to end. I plan on watching it again this weekend.
I loved the no drama love story. I love that they have dreams, and they work hard on achieving it. I love that they can tell each other their worries, and not be worried on being judged. They have a healthy relationship, and I'm loving it.
I've read reviews wherein they said that the leads' characters are too good to be true. That they're perfect, and that they should have flaws. They have flaws - Wei Wei is sensitive on her friends feeling and doesn't want to worry her friends. Xiao Nai is a perfectionist. They're one of the flaws of the leads. They're a bit subtle, but it still makes them human.
Also, I like the opening sequence. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed an opening sequence. I think it's the Meteor Garden Taiwan version the last time I liked an opening sequence.
I also like the chemistry of the leads. They did a good job as Wei Wei and Xiao Nai. I'll look forward on their next project together.

Great show!

This show kind of holds a special place in my favorites. Partly because it is centered around online games and it was one of my first Cdramas. I played EQ 1-2 with the hubby for years. So to see a show with something similar, kind of makes it a favorite of mine. Kind of brings back memories of when we played together🙃. Ok now to the show itself...

Story... first off I liked the story. Loved the parts that showed the actors in an online gaming world. I love how Yang Yang goes after the main actress. He sees her at first sight and falls for her. Ah yes... first and new love. I remember those days!

I had a huge problem though. I get that she is a reserved and pure girl. I was too. But man she held him back to much. She hardly kissed and then she made him wait two years before marriage or anything. I give him kudos for how patient he was. Shows he loves and respects her. And I get she probably wanted to finish college. But... come on! I think that is the one thing that I hate about this show! I was always taught “Short engagement, long marriage”. Glad I did it that way😉. I would not have waited 2 yrs! We met and married within 5 months and going on 20+ yrs now. But this is my only hang up.

There are some really great parts in this show that I could watch over and over again! One of them is when she is tricked into going out to dinner with an old clan mate (or guild... I can not remember which one it is in this show) and ends up with her old clan. I love how she proves who she is and then when they are all wanting to meet her boyfriend! 😂🤣😂 The best part! It pops up on Facebook from time to time and I have to watch it! So funny!😂

I will also say one thing... I think it could have been shortened from 30 episodes. Some parts I think could have been taken out. But it is what it is and I don’t dislike it because of that.

Acting... main actor/actress did a great job. There are parts of this show that I think they did really great in and I watch them over and over again. I really like Yang Yang. He is a great actor. I have seen many of his shows and he is really good.

Music... Yang Yang sings the main song in this show. It is almost the only song. And I FINALLY found it on Amazon and now listen to it over and over. One of my favorites.

Rewatch... yes! Already did once and will do it again.

If you haven't watched this yet, go watch it NOW!!

A very late review BUT I have embarrassingly watched this multiple times! LOL

The things I mainly enjoyed were the gaming aspect, both leads were strong and there were no relationship misunderstandings. The only downside were the kiss scenes!!! I mean I get the beginning kisses you're like shy and stuff but like the later kisses were disappointing T_T the movie version had a better kiss scene and I think they only had 1 kiss scene in the movie version. XD HOWEVER, I still give it 8.5 overall!

Also yeah the friend of the FL, I found her very childish.

Decent ROM/COM

This is a series where I think is best suited for audiences that are new to the ROM/COM genre in CTV and here's why!

Story: Very simple way done, very obvious guesses are given to the audience to what can happen next, typical romantic series where the cool guy ends up with a good looking girl. Nothing too original in its theme, however adding the 3d Mobile/PC gaming dimension into the mix based on a 2016 era, I can see why lots of people made this series a big deal. But make no mistake, subjectively I believe this series did not get its fame by the story on its own.

Acting: Again based on a 2016 era, not bad, main leads at the time were still rather new into their breakout roles, however with the good looks and decent acting from all involved this is nicely done. Is there room for improvement of course however as most watch this type of series is not looking for OSCAR nominations, cannot use the same judgement.

Music: Has game and series music. Opening song is very catchy, I must say. Other than sis normal.

Rewatch Value: Not much subjectively, I mean I binged the whole series 1 time, its been 2 weeks and I have not had the urge to watch this one again, not because its bad but it did not stand out that much. I guess when comparing Story on its own there is plenty out there which are better, however as the 2 main leads of this series were very attractive and the male lead still is, I believe most of the attention and wide spread popularity originated from them.

Overall: Great for new comers into the genre and into CTV, however veterans or more mature audiences may find this series a bit 'Meh', Unless you are a Yang Yang fan.

Cheers all, happy reading/watching. ^_^

This is a nice light tv show with a perfect amount of non over the top drama. The main plot is about people building relationships through an online video game and then meeting in real life and becoming friends/dating. What I love about this drama is I feel this a great daydream for many who have played multiplayer games. I have in the past and if single at the time totally would have loved meeting up and possibly building relationships with other players. I love how all the smart rich guys are video game nerds! lol. I really enjoyed the story/characters. I found the character of Xiao Nai to be a little flat. His relationship with his friends didn't have chemistry in my opinion. Loved the relationships between Bei Wei Wei and her friends. The 3rd wheels came off more realistic than most dramas which I am happy about. The music was but nothing catchy. At this time I don't see much rewatch value in this show but it was definitely enjoyable. I recommend this drama if you likes video games or if you are looking for something funny and not over the top. This a good drama to dream about. <3

This show kept on popping everywhere in my dash, so I figure I would give it a change. I’m really glad I did.

It was very refreshing to find a tv show that portrays a healthy relationship and how a shared passion can bring people together. There’s really no drama involving the main couple, mainly because these are two people who trust each other and actually talk about their feelings. Their relationship develops slowly but surely, at a perfectly natural pace.

I enjoyed the show a lot thanks to this factor, but it was a little too much at times. It’s like the leads are the only ones who have everything figure it out, which is why everyone around them worships every single thing they do. I get why they are charming, even I fall in love with them, but I think a little more real life struggle regarding Xiao Nai’s business or Bei Wei Wei’s future plans after university would have made the show a little better.

Still, it was so fulfilling to have a leading who is so freaking smart and truly independent. Too bad I found this version of Bei Wei Wei a little too proper and prim. It is hinted that she has personality traits that are not ladylike but we never really get to see them. I think this was partly a decision made by the director to make her like that and I kinda wished they would have choose to keep some of her spunk from the original movie version.

TV version’s of Xiao Nai is a smooth bastard and I love him. The actor brought a lot of charm into the character and made me fully understand why he was so popular but, just like with our leading lady, I would have appreciated it more if I could have seen his shortcomings. Nobody is this perfect all the freaking time.

One of my favorite things from the show was the friendship between the leads but also the one with each other friends.

Xiao Nai’s besties were an absolute delight. The bromance is strong in this show and so very funny. This might be one of my favorite tv friendships ever. They aren’t just simple sidekicks but also had strong personalities and a easy going banter. They are great team and I was cheering for them to succeed!

But the real surprise was the friendship between the girls. In tv shows we always see how strong the bromance is but the women behave catty at one point or another, right? I really appreciate the way this show took the time to properly portray a healthy and rock-solid sisterhood.

Sure, you can find the typical secondary characters and sub-plots in the show too but everyone who matters ends up becoming better at the end.

Now, to the gaming part: I love the CGI they used to portray life inside the game as a second world where the characters can meet and establish strong relationships; and it’s even a cathartic way to confront others. The graphics are incredibly beautiful, it blown my mind.

So, overall, I liked the tv version of LOVE O2O and I recommend it for what it is: a breezy and lovely show.
