How is this rated so highly?! Please watch Ashes of Love as the story, characters, acting, music, cgi and everything else is sooo much better. So disappointing to watch a drama that is so boring!!

There’s no substance to the story or their characters. I was expecting an amazing love story, so underwhelming. How do they love each other so much when they have barely experienced anything with each other?

I have watched so many dramas and this is one of the worst ones I’ve seen. I have no idea who it’s rated so highly.

I finished this drama in 15 days, this is by far the longest drama I have seen. And it was only picked in spite of not being my cup of te a because it was too popular to avoid.

Pros
1. Visuals - this drama is great on visuals, every frame is like a painting, Yang Mi is pretty like Aphrodite, and Bi feng jiu is like Persephone? Idk. For some reason Ye hua only reminds me of hades with his costume, I kept hoping he will switch for a different colour showing that his character has become sunnier, but nope, black does not really suit Mark Chao, nor does that hair style.

2. The subplots were what kept me going, the host of side characters like Ze Yan, Dong Hua Dijun, Li Jing, Mo Yuan and his seventeen disciples, Yan Zhi and all the others, Their back stories and their individual story arcs.

Cons.

1. Too many make out scenes, I get it if romance is your thing, but I watched if for the fantasy element and period setting, but it's first and foremost a romance

2. Clichés - the story has ridden with clichés, girl cross dressing and living among several boys, causing some of them to fall in love with her and having them doubt if they are homosexual, girl who has a crush on main lead creating misunderstanding and hatching plots to separate them.

The music was pleasant, the acting was satisfactory, for some reason I preferred Mark Chao's Mo Yuan over his Ye Hua, None of three character of Yang Mi are really likable, Si Yin is too carefree, by not paying attention to her studies she leaves Mo Yuan with no choice to to take the trial in her place, SuSu is too docile, and Bai Chin is too proud and aloof to others except her family, everyone from Kunlun and Ye Hua. At first I liked her strength and capability but she comes across as stuck up later on. The side characters could have been paid more attention to, their stories more developed.

face swap

The series was quite nice. The actors were also nice. They were fine. However, there was no harmony between the lead boy and our lead girl, and in my opinion, the lead boy did not suit the girl. I can't answer exactly whether the difference in age is because his face makes him look older or because he has a mustache, but I didn't find these two suitable. Apart from that, I liked all the actors, except for the logical errors in the series, which is a fantastic series, but if we ignore them, the biggest reason why I took down the score is the FACE CHANGING incident at the beginning of the series. I thought about quitting the series even after that episode. I gave up again. I couldn't tolerate mistakes like this anymore. Even though it was nice, I couldn't handle such things. He says let me give you my face, don't use it too much, he gives you a watch or something. The other one says, why should I use it maliciously? The reason he wanted it was because he was ugly and the girl whose face he took was more beautiful. We didn't see this in the series. Our two daughters were beautiful. So is their skin. There is no ugliness. The excuse doesn't fit at all. Secondly, why should I use it maliciously? It doesn't fit at all. Why would a person give his face to another person? Why would he teach this spell? No follicle, no egg, what was this wish and this wish was fulfilled. I couldn't like this series at all. After all, does a well-intentioned person want someone else's face? There is reason, there is logic. It's something that was written with a huge mistake and a foresight that doesn't fit into this series. I wanted to say this. No need for others. That's enough already. Let's not hinder the audience. But I hope that if the screenwriters add a little bit of reason, reality or appropriateness to their writing while making a series, it will be better. Otherwise, make it up and slide it. I've had enough now. Screenwriters, please do not spoil the beautiful TV series, plots and stories with such simple things. Please!

It takes commitment and patience to watch and finish this story.

My complaint is moreso technical: it's about the passage of time. From what I understand, time on earth is SLOWER than time in Heaven. Which is really, really weird. I'm still confused about those logisitics. Like, with the thousands of years that passed in heaven, there should've been flying cars and residential spaceships in neighborhoods.

Eternal Love/Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms had me so hooked that i watched it 3 times over and even went to read the novel. I have to give the writer a thumbs up. The story is so cohesive that i appreciated all the characters presence. Each major arc came with growth on the characters part and the villans although not the highly intuitive kind i prefer were well written.

It is a good show only made even better by incredible acting. At each step of the way the actors really captured the feelings of the characters. I prefer to read books because i find that actors rarely ever capture fully the essence of the characters inner thoughts and feelings. But i discovered rather pleasantly here that these actors understood what real acting means and i was grateful because it helped me appreciate the characters more.

The CGI/graphics is breathtaking. Qing qiu and the peach forest are so beautiful that while watching i wished it was real place i could go on vacation to.

Overall this series did good. I didn't feel encumbered by the length and excellent story telling and skillful acting made it an unforgettable watch.

I don't think this drama needs a review because seems like everyone and their friends have watched it. I am late to the party, but better late than never, right? I am glad I gave this a chance because I haven't really watched any long dramas in the past few years.

This drama is interesting. The initial episodes took a lot of time for the world building but when it came around, it was captivating . I think the beginning was quite good and I was interested enough to keep watching on. Unlike some people I am not a big on Chinese historical dramas but I am glad I gave it a try. I can say this drama has opened the unexplored world of Chinese wuxia / historical shows for me.

It was hard for me to get convinced to watch this drama because I am not the biggest fan of Yang Mi. But the promise of an epic romance had me curious and I binge watched the whole thing in a few days. I think I only took breaks to eat or sleep lol. I devoted my entire time to this drama.

Story: Like I said, quite interesting. I wouldn't say this is the best drama I have watched because some of my favourite Korean sageuks are impossible to top. I would say I might have judged this with high standards but then this is supposed to be the best of best. My favourite parts in the drama were episodes 26 - 35ish. This drama was best when it was sad and filled with angst. There were some episodes I didn't care for in the beginning because the way the leads fell in love were a bit unconvincing. But I freaking loved Ye Hua's devotion and loyalty to Bai Qian. He is one of the most unparalleled loyal drama heroes ever!! I loved his chemistry and passion for the heroine which I believe to be quite rare in the C-dramaworld. Some of the kisses were memorable and I loved Mark Chao's gaze and how he looked at Qian Qian for the entire drama.

The other whole plot I was loving was Dong Hua and Dilraba's loveline. I am a bit biased because I love Dilraba because she is super cute but their love story was also awesome. I must say the only time I came close to crying was in one of their scenes. I don't cry easily while watching dramas so I should say I enjoyed their plot more.

There were some other side plots and characters that I did and didn't care for. I also skipped some scenes here and there but I did overall like some characters. Zhe Yuan(? - I am bad at remembering names) was my favourite High God. Even Mo Yuan was boring in some places but Zhe Yuan always came through.

Acting: I didn't see any phenomenal acting anywhere. Mark is a good actor but I need to see more of his works to be his fan. The actors were all good, but I've seen better. Yang Mi was good in certain scenes but I am not a fan so it is hard for me to praise her overall. Dilraba needs improvement but she wins me over with her cuteness. I don't think I have much to say about anyone else.

ENDING: OMG if not for the ending it would have been a waste to watch. It was a bit nonsensical but I'll take it because it made my time worthwhile.

Also, side note: the constant mentions of their ages was cringey. I would have enjoyed it more without the constant reminder that they were all ancient lol.

Give it a go if you are still hesitating like I was till now.

A well written and carried out story, not the usual soppy stuff.
Ye Hua, the handsome, overachiever and humourless crown prince of the Heaven Realm, finds freedom and love in the mortal world. It does not last long however as the arrogant and jealous inhabitants of his realm soon see to it. He is reunited with the love of his life 300 years later at the Eastern Sea bash and learns that she is Bai Qian, the High Goddess of the Fox Realm, but she has no memory of him.
Through mishaps and wounds his patience and determination win her back. Pretty Bai Qian is aloof, full of herself, reluctant and romantically dense as her brother Bai Zhen points out, but with his help she finally sees through her denial.
Curiously, she sleeps in her day clothes and does not remove the hair combs ever. Her delicate features and petite frame are not well served by the severe and heavy wig and as the style never changes it becomes boring. Ye Hua, on the other hand, does slip into something more comfortable at bed time and lets his hair down, literally, thus looking not just good but very dishy, as she finally notices.
Li Jing is the handsome Ghost Lord who starts out by being a lively and fun character and then becomes dour in his obsession with Si Yin. Perhaps he'll reincarnate in the sequel.
I haven't read the novel on which the series is based, but hope to watch the sequel when it comes along (2020?).

Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (2017) aka Eternal Love, Chinese tv drama is a romance fantasy that delivers. It’s the only show to date that has me watching over and over. The fox character comes to life and the story arch is tightly woven around the the three personalities of this one character. Mi Yang plays each role without betraying her true character as a fox. Mark Chao’s character comes to life more in grief which is a step away from the norm, but reflects his own story before he was born. To play a double role without loosing the poise and integrity of the character takes some skill from the writers to the producers. The tree character Mi Gu played by Youhao Zhang I found to be intriguing as he varied from simplistic and silly to wise and strong but all the while loyal. The only thing that jars at me is the intrusive American language that pops up in the subtitles. But the scripting itself was excellent and themes explored with excellence. There was only one shot that I disagreed with but that in itself is commendable for the director. I tend to be picky with that. Bai Fenjui’s romance tended to be a bit much and bordered on paedophilic except if there were a part two when she became older and more matured. It seemed to compete with our lead romantic story unnecessarily. I found that the emotional bond between mother and child needed at least one more scene. The last scene left me wanting more so it achieved its goal of being unforgettable and timeless. #Chineseromancefantasy #MarkChao #Chinesetvdrama #EternalLove #TenMilesofPeachBlossoms #cannotgetenough

Must watch. Period

This drama is an absolute masterpiece! Everything about it is top-notch. The casting is incredible, and the chemistry between the leads is fantastic. The story is engaging from beginning to end, and the music is some of the best I have ever heard. The acting is superb, and the directing and script are perfect.

However, I must say that the special effects and makeup were quite disappointing. In 4K, it showed just how cheap they were. Compared to Eternal Love of Dreams, the effects and designs are nowhere near as good.

Despite its flaws, this drama is one of my top two must-watch and re-watch dramas. I can see why it's the most-watched drama, as it truly deserves all the praise it gets.

I cannot believe how incredibly compelling and wonderous this drama is. It takes away from the typical sons fighting for the throne type of story line, in fact the families were quite supportive of one another. I think I will FOREVER be a historical drama girl.

I actually fell in love with Ye Hua! (male love interest). The love he has for Bai Qian is so passionate- and how cute is the kid???????? I actually balled my eyes out when she was brought back and could not remember one thing about their relationship. Just little things like Ye Hua remembering her mannerisms and such really got me going- HE REALLY KNEW HER. Can I get a love like this please?

I think it was an added treat for the directors/writers to delve into the story of the side characters- the love story between Bai Qian's niece and the Emperor Lord was admirable! Sometimes fate just isn't on our side and I have to add I fancied the Emperor Lord way more as a blonde (lol).

The makeup, costumes, sets were all done so beautifully. Could not fault it one bit.

I would 100% rewatch.

The story of this drama is one of the more entangling ones I have seen. There are the traditional drama elements to this show, some predictable, and enough twists in it (in my opinion) to keep you hooked.

I can equate this drama to a really good book. I could not put it down. I honestly had a hard time sleeping because I wanted to watch the next episode so badly. Each episode of this drama left me with the feeling of 'what's going to happen next?!' which is a rare condition for me. Usually I end an episode and go "hmm, I wanna see what's next." This one left me absolutely needing more.

The multiple story arcs throughout the show were fascinating. I am especially looking forward to seeing "Three Lives, Three Worlds, The Pillow Book" as the story wrapped around the two involved has me desperate to see more of their story.

By far, this drama is going on my list of top 5 favorite fantasy dramas. Worth watching every moment.
