I fell in love with the beautiful people, sets, costumes, music, and story. Like a first love I was reckless and slept very little, unable to tear myself away.
It had everything I wanted in a first love-passion, true love, unrequited love, revenge, danger, obstacles to overcome, character growth, monsters, and magic. My first love had some flaws but through the eyes of love I overlooked them.
The actors brought the characters to life and pulled me into another world.
The music enhanced the story without distracting from it, a romantic mix-tape for an epic love story.
The next few dramas I watched were unworthy of my love and left my heart cold, but because TMOPB had taught me how to love I kept my heart open and kept searching. I have only truly loved one other time but I have loved and liked many others.
I have revisited this love many times, unable to completely let go. All other loves are measured against this one. I am so thankful for the worlds this drama opened up for me.

A Great Xianxia, the drama that really took off the Xianxia trend!
One of the most memorable Xianxia dramas out there! The story was simple and intriguing.
The first 10 episode were slow, and tiresome to get through. But this is the introduction to the
main FL BQ and her mentor. Which is important to the story.
During the mortal arc, is when things start developing between the 2 Leads.
And at episode 30, that was one of the best episodes.
When the viewer is fully invested into the story and the story is peaking.
The side stories was alright and to me it became tiring at times.
Yes there was nice moments with Dong Hua and Fengjiu!
But they could have made that story enitrely seperate, and they ended up doing that.
So I feel like, it was pointless to focus too much on Donghua and Fengjiu.
Because those scenes could have been invested into BQ and YH's storyline.
The villians was good, they were good with bringing out what was intended.
The actors did a wonderful job, the main leads were lovely.
The OST was really good, especially the ending song!
The rewatch value is low, because it's lengthy and this show can be draggy.
Like many others! So if it was tighter, it would have been great!
I do admit the ending could have been much more satisfying, if it was longer.
Yet overall this is a Great Chinese Drama
with couple of problems in the story!

Amazing but Nothing Exceptional
THE Eternal Love. I've tried to watch it before but dropped it multiple times because of how SLOW the start is. The first 10 episodes were a pain to get through. There's a lot of details to understand and people to meet. The relationships between the people might confuse you. After the 10th or 11th episode, everything started to make sense, but the romance was lacking. Then Bai Qian (Yang Mi) is forced to be a mortal, and the story really picks up. Just hold on till then. When Bai Qian turns mortal, her name becomes Susu. Ye Hua (Mark Chao) falls in love with her. Ye Hua and Susu was an amazing, show-stopping, swoon-worthy couple. I was so invested in them. They were the cutest. However, when Susu went to heaven with Ye Hua, she was bullied. Susu was a pure soul, and she really did not deserve to be treated like that. All I could think about was, "if you love me, let me go". She really does leave after becoming blind and giving birth alone. It was really heart-breaking. Ye Hua and Susu have an ill-fated ending, and that was their second lifetime.
Then Susu becomes immortal again and becomes High Goddes Bai Qian, who I did not like as much. She was supposed to be stronger and wiser. Except she wasn't. At the start, she came off as such a boss bitch. She was a queen and put everyone in their place. Her love story with Ye Hua was slow but sizzling. Ye Hua was the best character in this lifetime. Bai Qian was a good character, but I personally felt like she acted stupid in the end. The ending frustrated me, although it was a happy ending. The story felt so dragged, and I was disappointed because the misunderstanding could've easily been solved through proper communication. But alas, it's over, and it was a good plot.
I wished that Ye Hua had more personality, but I still loved his character. Bai Qian got on my nerves at the end, but again I loved Yang Mi. She played the role really well. I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THE SIDE STORIES. I'm elated about the spin-off. Dong Hua and Fengjiu deserve it. THE ACTING AND CHEMISTRY WAS IMPECCABLE FOR THE MAIN AND SIDE COUPLE.
The evil characters were just sub-plots. All of them stood in the way of our main couple and were dumb. No bigger plot drove the story except the romance. This is very unusual writing, especially in a c-drama. There was no major conflict, and it made me go insane because it felt anti-climatic at some points. There were mini-climaxes. I was waiting for the significant climax, which I thought involved Mo Yuan, but he was just another boulder for Ye Huan and Bai Qian. AGAIN, the Mo Yuan plot didn't drive the story. ALSO, most of the Gods and Goddesses were pretty fooking useless. Only Mo Yuan, Dong Hua, Yi Zhen and Ye Hua did stuff. Others just watched. A lot of them were pretty endearing, but I hated the rest. I'm looking at you, the whole of Ye Hua's family. The boy deserved better.
The music matched every scene and brought out all the emotions. The CGI... we don't talk about it. Just pretend it was good. I can't help you with that.
Anyhow, there were some faults with it which is why I believe Eternal Love is not exceptional but it is worth watching.

I'm really irritated that this is plagiarized because it's actually good; here's the tea
It's pretty much common knowledge in China that TangQi, the "author" of the book this drama was based on, plagiarized another novel practically word for word. They just changed the characters' names and some location names. The book they plagiarized from was originally a book about a homosexual couple, which is looked down upon in China, so when outrage and legal drama ensued, guess who had the upper hand? TangQi made a fake account and pretended to be the original author to further lower the original author's reputation by harassing people online. She then taunted the original author by saying she's the one who got her book made into a drama, not her. They're both women btw. Anyways I'm pissed at the studio because they bought the rights to the drama even while the plagiarism scandal was ongoing.Later, TangQi was nominated for the White Lotus Award, an award for plagiarists. Here's the link: https://supchina.com/2017/11/01/literary-award-plagiarists-chinas-latest-society-culture-news/amp/
White Lotus is slang for scheming, backstabbing bitch that acts innocent.
Basically the drama is good, but the book it's based on is 99% the hard work of someone else.

Everyone acting is good in this one, but the actor playing Zhe Yan is my favourite. People would skip the second leads pair parts but I watched it all. It can get boring if you dont like Di Jun and Feng Jiu pair. If you think the story needs more progressing then you can skip their parts.

Better than Ashes of Love, for sure to me
So after I finished Ashes of Love, I had to write the review for that, then writing one for this because its my favorite out of them both. So first off, be mindful about immortals in this world, its not god that can not die. Immortals in this world or so to say the asian world, is pretty much human with powers and doesn't get sick illness and die unless poisoned or physical/mentally hurt/injured. I was initially turned off by understanding immortals that love each other, having kids succeeding them, but that was thrown out right after I finished the first story arc of Su Yin. The story really picks up after Su Yin becomes Bai Qian not long after, the addiction of having to stay up all night watching it, you guys know the feel. The mortal trial isn't that long compare to Ashes of Love because it continues where she enters the immortal world with the ML still as a mortal. This arcs basically showcase jealousy and plan/plot to harm FL with misunderstanding from ML, the only angst I believe I felt and encounter, but a good one, not the kind that pisses you off with plotholes but non the less to say it is not. It continues to draw you in like glue when Bai Qian return to immortal and addiction continues to the end. Watch this show now, and tell me if you agree with me. Anyways, enjoy your time while out in this virus days. Was this review helpful to you?
+1 Amazing Cast (No one can play a better Yehua)
+1 Beautiful & Befitting Music (music really set the tone/stage for this drama, went along with the theme, plot, and brought out the story altogether, without the music, or music in general, it would be hard to make successful dramas, good music is what draws people emotions and imaginations)
+1 Romance Action (more like +100, at first you're like where's all the real action? Just wait and keep watching, you WON'T be disappointed. Trust me on this one. It'll creep up on you and surprise you out of nowhere)
+1 Beautiful & Eloquent Clothes Set
+1 Strong, Creative and Complex Story Plot
+1 Set (pretty good for a fantasy drama for the most part)
+1 Relationship Build
+1 Character Build (except for the relationship between Moyuan and Siyin. It kind of came out of no where, like what? huh? They had a close mentor/mentee relationship? Didn't see that but since everyone said so then okay...)
+1 Strong Side Character Stories (Feng Qiu's side story was kind of redundant and annoying but they made the story interesting and impactful at the end)
+1 Good Ending
Cons?
- Fighting action could have been better and "floating/flying" scenes were average and very noticeable
- Like most dramas in general, some dragging parts that take forever with your typical mellow characters, but the story eventually picks itself up. Can't avoid that one.
-Some people will have a hard time liking the male lead at first but don't worry, he'll draw you in when you least expect it.

Must watch!!!! You will fall in love !
I don’t know what words to use to describe my love for this drama. I love it’s so much and have rewatch 30 times already !!! Lol I’m obsessed! After watching this drama, I find it hard for me to watch any other drama now. I’ve watch lots and lots of movies and drama in my life but this one is absolutely my favorite!!! I can say with confidence!!!I love most about the drama is the love story of Ye Hua and Bai Qian. The acting was spectacular especially Mark Chao and Yang Mi. Mark Chao is my favorite and I truly believe he is the reason this drama is so love. , His character as either Mo Yuan or Ye Hua is so easily to fall in love with because he is that good at acting. Chemistry was flawless. A transparent love was beautifully portrayed; you could feel their love and pain and share their happiness. Kiss scenes are the best!!! Lol
This is truly a masterpiece !!!! Eternal Love is my all time favorite!!!

The story begins with Bai Qian, youngest and only daughter of the Fox King. A family friend, Zhe Yan disguises her as a boy and takes her to be a disciple with High God Mo Yuan, who knows right away she is a girl. She is adventurous, mischievous, and drinks way too much, despite that, she develops loyal and strong relationships with her new adopted brothers and Mo Yuan. From there, the story gets more epic with battles, a destructive bell (because all bells are dooms day machines?), a shattered soul, mortal trials, a very jealous woman, and a whole separate love story between her niece and the oldest (youngest looking) character in the heavens.
Mark Chao and Yang Mi did a fabulous job keeping me focused and interested in the story. I love strong women characters and Yang Mi nailed it with Bai Qian, making us love her even more as we watched her grow from Si Yin, to the mortal Su Su, and finally a high goddess. Mark Chao….hmmmm, I could talk about him for another six paragraphs. To keep it short, I’ll say Mark Chao’s Mo Yuan and Ye Hua characters were so captivating that by the end of episode 50, you wanted both to end up with Bai Qian.
There are friendships between many of the characters that carry the story through the episodes where the story might drag. The supporting cast was wonderful, and I am eagerly anticipating the Pillow Book sequel to find out what happens to the relationship between Feng Jiu and Dong Hua (sigh…it had better be a happy ending). Some of my favorite relationships in the show: the friendship between Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen, the brother/brother(sister) rivalry between Zi Lan and Si Yin, Si Yin and all his/her disciple brothers, Si Ming and Feng Jiu’s friendship, Zi Lan and Yan Zhi’s romance, this list is endless. If you have the time, take a week or two and binge watch. I hope you will find the show as fun as I did.
