Chinese Makjang with all your crazy evil side FL tropes
Looking for a makjang but want some fluff Chinese romance and adorable child actors? A teensy bit draggy plot, but Deng Lun scenes? Then this drama is for youI came into this unaware of the original Korean one, so the story was whoa to me. Over the top, lots of revenge and delulu characters, but I overall enjoyed it. Albeit not the most satisfying revenge personally to me, it was interesting.
An 8/10 for me since there's a few things that could've been done better but oh welp :) i'll watch the korean one sometime, altho in a bit

The acting in this drama is superb! I usually do not have high expectations from C-dramas in terms of acting, except when famous veteran actors and actresses are a part of the cast, but the cast in the drama did an amazing job! My favourite characters in terms of acting are Zhang Yu Xin and Le Tong. When the villain in the drama makes the audience really hate her to the point you feel frustrated, that is when you know the actress did a perfect job portraying the character. That is the case with this drama. The child actress also did a really good job portraying Le Tong.
I love the idea of the storyline but it gets a bit draggy in between. Some parts could have been shortened, and some parts are just running in a circle. This drama could easily be shortened to about 30-40 episodes at most.
When I first watched this drama, it was my first time seeing all the cast. I was quite skeptical about watching it at first, and it did not help that the drama itself is long but now I am glad I did. I rewatched this drama like 3 times already and I will most likely watch it again if I have nothing else to watch.

When I was watching this drama, I could relax and follow the characters' actions calmly. The drama is ideal for free afternoons with cakes and coffee.

Drama shown that because of selfishness, because of hunger of money and fame and to see oneself always first in any competition ,a person can cross their limits then they can't see anything ,he use other person as a steps of his success and if he found there is flaw he kick out that person very badly from his path ,too cruel.
Acting is good ,all the child artist were good , lead actress real mother acting was good when she was in bad character as well as when she was in good character ,then yun Kai's older brother also good he looks more handsome than him .His character is little complicated because his character had shown that he was a bad person because in order to take over the power he always try to bad to his younger brother but actually he was a good person because of his wrong upbringing he did such bad deeds to his brother but something bad happened to him he realised his mistake ,I think his story should ended up with his love story ..They already make this drama too long so it would be okay to add two or three episodes more so he would also have happy ending.
Yun kai 's father's sister story also good ....
Good drama

Sooo Many Tears!!!!
Oh my Heart!!! This drama was absolutely broke me! I shed so many tears! I was not ready. This female lead was incredible, she pulls you in and pulls at your heartstrings. I stumbled upon this drama because I saw it was a Deng Lun drama, But i never anticipated that it would hit this hard. I was expecting a sweet and cute love story but this it a very intense drama with so many layers of history and secrets and a love trying to bloom. This was a very in-depth drama that pulls you in and consumes you while you try to understand all the relationships and how everyone is intertwined. The Women of the main family have been in a 2 generation long battle over the head of the embroidering business. There is so much backstabbing, sabotaging, horrific betrayals that happened in past and the most heartbreaking thing of all it that it looks like history is repeating itself with the current generation. I cried so many tears for all the injustices that took place, I got so lost in this show that it felt like i was experiencing all the pain first hand. These actor’s and actress did such a phenomenal job at bring out all the emotions in their audience, these villains are some of the best I’ve encountered. The love story between Yun Kai and Guo Guo was truly so beautiful. I highly recommend this drama though it’s hard on the heart, it’s one that will stay with you. I rated it 8/10 because yes while its absolutely phenomenal, thoroughly invoking all the emotions in you, it was a bit rough to go through and it left an ache in my chest that I couldn’t ignore, this kinda bittersweet sadness when i think of how hard it must have been to endure all that. Was this review helpful to you?
Story
I heard it is a remake of Korean Drama.I have never watched Korean version but I am almost certain that no one can replace Sun Yi as Yi Bei and Deng Lun as Yun Kai.
The story is pretty simple yet interested. It was never dragging, I finished it in a short period.
Cast
The casts are superb. Sun Yi, Deng Lun are very sweet.Even Zhang YuXin was very outstanding as a despicable villain. Besides, Lei Tong is so cute, i love her so much.
Music
All of the osts are not bad.
Rewatch value
Definitely. I’d love to see Deng Lun and Sun Yi again.

Welcome to every possible trope and cliche in Dramaland! Still, good show!
This was a comment, but I wrote so much that ended up making a review and that's why I am sharing here as well.Family Drama is there until the last episode, but honestly prefer that than having the main couple having a million misunderstandings or breaking up for every little thing. What bothered is that the whole scheming and lying got repetitive and felt draggy for the last 20 episodes or more. There is no way somebody can fall in the same traps infinite times.
Karma came for the bad ones, but the good and the bad was out of balance. We have some shows where something really bad happens and the villain does everything to keep that secret safe, but here, the bad guy (girl) kept doing bad after bad after bad, to the point of being ridiculous.
My biggest complain is in the plot holes, since all the lies could have been easily solved, but the writers forced us to believe that it was impossible when it was obvious and everything had a million ways to come out in the open, at least after episode 18 when everyone is living in the same city.
The romance was excellent. The main leads had an amazing chemistry, and for once they were coherent, since they behaved and sometimes even looked how they were when they where children. The female lead pushed the male lead away and was "funny" rude way too many times, but our ML was just perfect so he would always know how to turn things around.
There were no major misunderstandings, and no break ups after the main leads got together around episode 25, but being a family drama you can imagine that everything else beside the main leads and their romance took a lot of screentime, including the villains.
Overall, the show was good and you get involved to the point where you disregard the obvious plot holes while you wait for karma to finally hit. Every actor did an amazing job for this production and kudos to the accidents and car crashes scenes, they were very good!
Suffer the family drama, enjoy the beautiful and invincible true love and get rewarded with karma, specially in the last episode.
This is a 7/10 for me, but romance alone would be 8.5/10!

what I liked:
I felt better when Zhang Guo Guo found her true self. she showed that you can be nice and at the same time not have others abuse you.
what I did not like:
There was one thing I did not like about the drama: the ignored rights of fathers.

Because of the Dismal Writing and Directing
I was initially drawn to this title by the number of episodes. I actually like long dramas that give the viewer an opportunity for longevity, to get invested in the story and the characters. Boy! Was I wrong about this one, and was this a dismal failure!First, let me clarify that the acting was not the issue. That the audience loved (or hated) the characters is testament to the talent of the actors portraying the roles they were given. I like Deng Lun anyway, and although his character was a little too easy-going for my liking, his moments of seriousness and intensity were on point - signature Deng Lun! Actresses Wu Yu (Yu Xin), Joy Pan (Hui Jie), & Guo Hong (Wang Ai Yu) who portrayed the main villainesses really pushed the 'hate' button. Other cast members were believable and as an ensemble cast, the relationships, the interactions, good and bad, were realistic. Unfortunately for me, the most underwhelming character was Zhang Guo Guo - and all I can say about that is that Sun Yi played the role she was given but didn't shine in this one at all. I found the character weak and whiny and even more unfortunately, saw very little chemistry between she and the ML. She came across as wooden and cold even in their love scenes. Despite rave reviews on the children in this drama, they were just that - children. Nothing spectacular in their performances but again, the storyline, the directing.
56 episodes needs a riveting story. A well-written and executed script to keep the viewer interested and invested. This one had neither. I'm afraid I stuck it out only out of morbid curiosity to see IF/how the writer could tie it all together or justify the ridiculousness that played out throughout this drama. I hoped the writer and the director would have pulled it together sooner rather than later and spare us the repetitious (and wearisome) tropes that they started out on. 'Entitled character thinks she deserves more and goes on a campaign to achieve her goals repeating the same sentiments over and over... I won't let anyone take this away from me at any cost'. OK - we got it after the first 6 or so episodes! We were done to death with the antics of Wang Ai Yu always choosing her birth daughter over the fostered daughter - begging and crying when she got caught then doing the same evil thing over and over and over again the next minute. I believe the FL must have been paid for every time she said the word 'Maah' - and the same for the SFL calling 'Maah or Baah'. How many parents did these two accumulate in 56 episodes! It was positively annoying! Thank goodness for fast-forwarding.
Can we talk about the real gems in this piece? Yes, thankfully there were just barely any. The character Song Xiu Hua (played by Liu Min Tao) was so believable and endearing (until she kept that snake Wang Ai Yu in her house after she told that egregious lie - why Xiu Hua didn't kick her out and still treated her like a friend, only the writer and director know for sure). I really like that actress and she played her part so well. The other character who endeared himself to me was Lu Si Chen (played by Kelvin Li). He started out seeming like a bad guy, but eventually we see what the unconditional love of a parent really looks like. I'm sorry his story didn't end better, he of all people really deserved something good for his character the unselfish single dad - but hope was thrown in there from Zheng Guo Guo's assurance to Le Tong that they could 'take a plane to visit him'.
Re-watch? Absolutely not. Again let me reiterate - the train wreck that was this drama was the sole responsibility and fault of the absolute inability of the writer to produce a decent story and the short-sightedness of the director to utilize the talents of the actors so that a decent story could be told. If you're looking for a worthwhile long drama, this isn't it. Run far, run fast!
