NO MEANS NO

This one has its merits but its portrayal of sexual assault and the nature of this obsession are too negative to give this an overall strong rating. I guess that means they did their job. They did depict Obsession, but this is not the type of relationship that we need to see or emulate.

I was intrigued by the initial premise. Being reincarnated and trying to change the path of your relationship was full of promise. At first, you come to believe that Shao Yi Chen is still obsessed with Jiang Jin Teng and hence the title, but then Jin Teng's obsessions rears its very ugly head. This character is appalling from the very beginning. He orders his friends around like they are slaves. This is a common trope for the "bullies" in BL and something I have never seen in real life. I'm fairly tired of this trope. His behavior escalates quickly and he soon becomes an actual sociopath. I can't believe anyone would fall in love with someone like this. Much less a sweet character like Yi Chen. His behavior gets worse with multiple attempted rapes and threatening to strangle his ex-girlfriend. Okay, in the end, they try to redeem him, but the fact that he was trying to save Yi Chen from "bullying" does not excuse his behavior. I never wanted this couple to get together - and isn't that the point of a BL? I actually wanted Yi Chen to get together with his best friend. That would have been a sweet couple.

The acting was fairly good. I think Teddy does a very fine job as Shao Yi Chen. I am less enamored with Bernard as Jiang Jin Teng. He felt very one-note. Even his outbursts seemed the same level as his normal behavior. I could hardly read emotion in his face, aside from the few times they allow him to be tender or giddy.

The direction was serviceable. Some moments seemed to be held too long, for example forcing the actors to breathe heavily in panic for extended periods without any real reasoning - and that's where the acting suffered the most as well. Elongating a moment does not heighten the emotion.

I won't watch this again due to the inappropriate behavior. But I do still feel the HIStory series should be applauded for the breadth of its stories and the high production values of all of the installments.

Very Good!!

8/10 The beginning was really sad and i dont liked it ..But the rest was so good. i love it. I'm very happy that there was finally a happy ending.. that's very rare in Korean
(and other language) Bl, romance Series! The kissing scenes was very good...(this scene: where one pushed the other away and the other pulled towards him. that was sexy. I liked that very much. I haven't seen it in any other series until now).

Definitely one of my favorite Shows along with >Love in the Air. *-*

toxic af

its soooo toxic
I mean they literally took the title too seriously
obsessed
they are too obsessed and I don't like it
not my fav
the way the lead is reborn and how the. is acting just to get close to him and how he just kisses him whenever he does something wrong as if kissing just makes every problem right
I felt that the is manipulative and toxic
I didn't enjoy it at all

I have seen all history stories and I hate this the most
don't watch it it's a waste of time

for me out of the 3 history stories I liked stay away from me the most

Spare yourself

This story is horrible. If History chose polemic topics to question them or shine a light...that'd be one thing, but they are romanticizing and glorifying an abused and toxic relationship. Basically the couple has 1 kiss that isn't forced by the crazy character and just...the story just makes no sense.

This was truly a sick take on any sort of love story. The obsessed character has no redeeming arc, he does not change or improve in any way...it is just...0.0

I don't know what else to say to fill up 500 characters but thought it'd be worth the warning for future viewers.

This is the story of a love affair gone terribly wrong where one partner (Shao Yi Chen) dies with a broken heart only to be able to come back to life a few years earlier thus getting a second chance to do things right by avoiding falling in love with the same boyfriend all over again (Jiang Jing Teng). Of course, destiny has other ideas in mind - wouldn’t you know?

The story is very well done; with a tight script and a very natural dialogue... it does not sound contrived or clichéd as in so many of these serial productions. As a matter of fact, for a series so short as this one (only four episodes), the scriptwriter has done extremely well; to the point where the twist and revelations he or she inserts at the end of the series are among the best I have seen inside this category of movies. Truly excellent - it is my favorite part of the whole undertaking.

The acting is also very good; with as good a set of lead actors as their supporting cast. The chemistry between some them, especially the lead characters, is part of what makes this movie so enjoyable.

The rewatch value is very high for two reasons: it is a short series that one can watch inside of but a few hours. Bust also because the plot is complex enough that the nuances will soon be forgotten and you will be able to enjoy it as much as you did the first time when you see it again in but a few years time.

Ugh...

I think this is the best of History1, from the story that amazed me a lot to the plot that wonderfully presented.

So many quotes that I got from this series make me wonder how great the script was. Even the twist at the end of this series affect me in a huge way. I don’t even guessed that their story would end beautifully, hence I thought something sad would come eventually.

Now I am thinking about another History franchise that have higher rating than this one. However, I think I shouldn’t have high expectations yet before I watched another shows coming.

Simply the best of the 3...
1.Obsessed
2.Stay Away from Me
3.My Hero

all three are good though but this one takes the cake.
the actor who portrayed Jiang Jin Teng was AMAZING, his acting is so believable...i can't describe him good enough that my best description will still fall short...it will still be an understatement of how convinced i am on how he portrayed his role. I am not even surprised that I find him very attractive...

Shao Yi Chen was also so well played. Can I just have them both? will be rewatching this soon. So very worth it.

highly recommended.

I started HIStory backwards I guess... I watched Right or wrong and Boundaries crossing and I knew I needed to see the rest of this series.

The series os so short and I think that's hard to do because the little time to get to know the love story. In this one it's a fantastical situation in which Shao Yi Chen is heartbroken by his boyfriend and then he suffers a car accident. But he does not die... he just rebirts 10 years into his past, when he was 19 and haven't even known Jiang Jin Teng. YC is determined to not fall in love with JT but how knows? can he manipulate fate?

The plot as it is, could have been handled better it's confusing is everything is a dream or YC truly went into his past self. I get it. But the story has another good things: the chemistry between the actors is amazing, even though their relationship is kinda fucked at times, they really did a good job with the kissing and intimate scenes.

Overall I liked it. I think my biggest complain is not enough episodes to work the story, thing that is fixed in History 2 having 8 episodes per story. So glad about it.

If you’re kind of kinky you might actually love this

Okay so this has two sides for me. On one hand the story or let’s say the characters relationship was extremely unhealthy and manipulative. However on the other hand there are a lot of people that can find joy in a setting like this, desperate love, the feeling of having to have this one person (obsession truly is a good title), as long as the feelings are reciprocated. To people who enjoy this kind of theme (in the Drama world at least, not necessarily in the real world) this will be really enjoyable. I also felt like this was a nice addition to the other two storylines of History 1. To me all history parts are basically about showing different kind of loves and relationships.
And obsession (as long as reciprocated) to me also deserves a place between these different kinds of stories.

I have to be really honest on how I feel on this movie. I personally love the song, there's no doubt, it's a quick 10 for me. I super love the chemistry between the two main leads, I think I'm very convinced that definitely there's this thing going on between them, I mean characters wise, not real life (In my wildest dreams, I wish there is) But anyway, what I'm really not convinced on is that the story is a little bit confusing for me. (Either because I was too tired to read the subs, or I'm at my phone gossiping about this super cute new guy who works with my best friend whom my best friend is not telling me about she's kinda afraid that I'll play my cards when she obviously saw him first, but it just happens that I also saw him the other day when I had my coffee there at her work place which kinda gave me the right to say I also saw him first) Basically it might not be the series, maybe it's me. But I just don't understand the plot. The flashbacks bothered me a lot, the major crying bothered me a lot but of course the major kissing did not bothered me a lot, that scene is definitely a 10 for me. But unfortunately because the series failed to get my attention (It might be my fault when I was watching, I think the series is beautiful and the actors are mega cute) I arrive at a final score of 8.5. But I will watch this again just so I fully understand it, minus my phone of course next to me, so I won't be distracted.

The story is fine if you can accept the premise. The acting is so-so - the main character spends almost the entirety of the story crying in a one-dimensional way. The music is utterly oppressive - to the point that if you're a non-Mandarin speaker you're better off turning downthe volume and just reading the story, because otherwise the crying and awful music will make you insane.

The vibe of the story is similar to Addicted/Heroin, but this is a bargain-basement version. The main guy is cute, but not in the transcendent way Timmy Xu is (I just felt a sledgehammer to the chest writing that, because he's so painfully beautiful).

I like that the evil girlfriend ends up being the exact opposite of that.

Anyway, it's only an hour & 10 minutes long, so if you don't like it, it's not like you've wasted a day of your life.
