Dramas with a moderately dark, controversial, and intense plots addicts me to it a LOT. And, 'Sachi-iro no One Room' is such a drama.

The plot is pretty controversial, as you can see how it romanticized a case of kidnapping. But, if you check out the drama, you'd realize that it isn't exactly a case of kidnapping, as the supposedly stalker male-lead simply saved the female-lead from committing suicide and only asked if she wanted to live with him. She agreed, as she had given up on life. It was nothing serious for her to live with a stalker after getting abused by parents, bullied by classmates, and sexually harassed by her teacher. If you simply look into the drama, you'll find out how the story is interesting and how it would pull you into it- and the doubtful thought you had after seeing the summary would go away from your mind.

The actors are pretty good too and the simple-yet-so-satisfying cinematography would surely make you enjoy this short drama as much as I did. Plus, the OST is absolutely amazing. Recommended indeed!

Going into this drama, I was alarmed by the plot summary but proceeded anyway and wow...It was so so insightful yet painful to watch the events happening to the protagonist. The relationship between the leads is unique and everyone can have their own say about the ethics of it but it's just...everything in this drama leaves the leads in such a unique position that what may be wrong can be right. That's all I can say, it definitely takes a toll on you emotionally and the psychological factor is big for the viewer here. Yet, I still would encourage everyone to try it out, see what you make of it....

An Insight Into The Mind of the Hopeless

This is not a wonderful romance nor a drama that tempts you with the glimmer of a happy ending.

This is a thought provoking piece on those who live with pain under the surface and how society deals with it. It follows a girl who is heavily abused at home and at school, thus making her attempt to take her life. Enter the ML who later tells the FL that he doesn't have the courage to take his own life. He professes to being her stalker and steals her away from her suicide attempt and life. This leads to a series of events in which she learns what being cared for is like, and by someone who society would tell her to run away from. (I'm not promoting kidnapping or stalking, but the circumstances are quite sad.)

Sachirro no One Room is by no means a light hearted series. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has heavy triggers or someone who tends to stay away from gloomy watches. There really isn't anything in here to lighten up the mood. This drama addresses suicide, mental trauma, familial abuse, bullying, and sexual abuse. It is a somber tale of someone who is abused by everyone who is supposed to take care of her, and a man who has nothing to live for, but needs to find something to die for. It was insightful in a way, but incredibly sad.

The acting is done decently well, and the series is quite short so there is a lot packed into each episode. I definitely hated all the people who abused Sachii. The girl had some major trauma. The music didn't make much of an impact, this is very content driven. I will say, I am unlikely to ever forget this drama, but it is unlikely I would watch again.

All in all, I'm not sure I could recommend this, but I think it's worth the watch if you're looking for something short with serious content. Just don't go into this expecting a happy ending.

A dark drama with a heavy concept. So, who was the real criminal here? The stalker who "abdacted" the girl or the parents, the teacher, her classmates? This drama makes you think a lot about right and wrong and how grown ups can destroy the personality of a little kid. Other than that, the performances were really good, especially from the two leads. However, the teacher character was overplayed and he ruined the atmosphere of this drama for me. Finally, the ending was kind of confusing and tragic at the same time.

Brilliant

So, the writing and acting are brilliant! If you like David Lynch style dark fantasies this will totally be up your street!
Not gonna lie, the ending is depressing - so if you’re looking for feel good light dramas, don’t go there!
But this definitely got inside my head, the storyline and performances are great and constantly keep you guessing. You’re really rooting for the main couple, even though you can see how messed up they both are.... I haven’t read the manga and it is still ongoing so will be interesting to see how it ends...
I think it makes you question how people can be trapped inside themselves and how the world is unsympathetic to that...

endeavouring

I liked the plot and the characters but the execution definitely needed a lot of work that's where the drama lacked. Though it was of 10 episodes it could have been a lot more better than it actually was, the the soundtrack however grabbed my attention and it definitely was the best choice. It perfectly matched with the theme of this drama and even gave a lot of depth to it. I really liked the main characters specially sachi she did a phenomenon job keeping both the tracks of the gloomy and cheerful girl .

This was on my PTW list for a long time. The synopsis sounds interesting, but it was my mistake not to check on the manga first (at least to see the drawing).

That said, the only amazing thing about this drama is cinematography and the beautiful settings. Even the thrown photos on the floor looked so beautifully scattered. LOL. In short, the main theme of this drama is beautiful-ness (instead of dark-ness). Not sure about the story in manga but the drawing looks very pretty too.

Other than that, the pacing is super slow. It feels more like watching a movie to me, but in movie everything will be wrapped in 2 hours. While this is only 24 minutes per episode, it feels like a 1.5 hours watch for each....haha because the progress of the story is so painfully slow like snail! And to make things worst, our director is a fan of slow-motion scenes. There were countless of slow-mo throughout the drama.

While the production team were focusing on how to make things beauty, they forgot the most important thing, emotion! Seriously I did not feel anything from both of the protagonists. Some part of story-line also did not make any sense to me. Again I don't read the manga so not sure who to blame here..

As I already mentioned, the strong point of this drama is cinematography. There are couple of interesting techniques used in this drama that are worth to check for. I won't write it here to avoid spoiler. And just because of that I rated this 8. Otherwise this should have been around 7 or 7.5 only!

Wow, the drama is so messed up yet so good, they both find happiness from each other even if it's not real. Their relationshipis is something society would hate but through the way they meet they really got to know each other. The whole time watching i was wondering why he never took of his mask, but at the end he did. The the ending was something, it hit me really bad i was crying so much at the fact onii san died. He's such a angel from saving her from everybody . This drama has so many plot twists it played with my feeling it also is so dark.

I've watched this title since it was on my recommendations here on MDL, and also because it had a good plot and also a good length for the episodes.
Overall it wasn't a bad drama, the pros are that the story is new and at least original (it thought it was a thriller title but turned out to be a dark/psychological drama), it's beautifully shot and also belongs to a real story, so it's pretty interesting!
The cons are the teacher, he was extremely over portrayed and also confusing...
From the 6th episodes, I've started to skip some scenes because it started to get really boring and somehow heavy.
The end left me confused, probably I've also needed to read the manga is based on understanding everything, but I'm serious by saying that I had to watch the end more than once since it seems there's a second season but actually there's nothing more after the titles...
Overall I don't give it a 7/10 ...

A dark & hard-to-watch series. But very important truly needed to be shown more of into the world

Especially for those who suffer in this world. But in the particular darker sides of it, being in unhealthy environments and relationships.

About getting out of that darkness, even when you are literally on the edge of life and death.
How just one person, can change your life and be a light,
can show you life CAN BE different, there are other ways, other perspectives. that you aren't worthless; not nothing anything else but to live life in complete darkness for so long, believing you are exactly that, worthless, nothing and deserve the punishment and to be used.

How and what growing up in the wrong environment can do to a person. But that doesn't mean you HAVE TO BE THERE all your life. You can go out and make your own happiness, by yourself, somewhere else, and with other people.

*I myself realized even more: you are not the same as the people who you grew up with, or how they made you view yourself like, you are your own person and you shouldn't have to be effective by them. Don't let them have sort of immense power over you!

A Little Room For Hope

I have never seen such a sad series before, but there was a really good feeling in it
To have someone who is by your side
To support you is happiness itself
It was very sad, but it conveyed a little good feeling

Makes You Think

This drama really makes you think about what's right and wrong. It is more deep than it is dark. The story was interesting, have never heard of anything like it before. The female lead is an amazing actor, she really embodied her role. I enjoyed the acting overall, but the mom and teacher just seemed over the top to me. I felt the music was sort of lacking in some parts of the show, and it just wasn't memorable. I would rewatch just for the soft scenes between the two leads, they really pulled at my heartstrings. Trigger warning though for things dealing with sexual assault, bullying, suicide, and trauma. I didn't know going into this how much it would trigger my daddy issues so beware. Overall, would recommend if you're into psychological dramas.
