plain romance story

Watched it for shen yue, and her acting skill, along with jasper’s, is pretty decent. Hmm, she seem to be in romance drama a lot so I don’t think there’s anything special about this drama for her too. (but she cute <3)

Story is pretty bland for me, and towards the end, the way his grandfather suddenly thought to finally encourage him after years of being mean and stubborn just feels very sudden and rushed. Although yes, he was suffering so much at that point in time due to the medication and his OCD.

Hmm the love story between the leads towards the end felt a little relatable, where she’s torn between the man she loves and the truth behind her mother’s accident. Could really understand her dilemma, your head says no but your heart says yes.

Anyway, overall, it’s just a fluff drama which I would only recommend if you have nothing to watch anymore.

I enjoyed this show more than I thought I would honestly. I remember watching Clean With A Passion for Now a while back so I had been hesitant on watching this yet wanting to watch it really badly. Lol I had a lot of mixed feelings. But, of course when I started it, I didn't want to stop.
Don't get me wrong, there were more than a few times it was slow and I wanted to stop but the urgency of wondering how things would get fixed outweighed everything. Lol
The main thing that I'm still annoyed about is her hair, Lol I know I know. But WHY?! Why did they keep giving her child-like hairstyles? It kinda weirded me out.

I really liked all of the characters though. I didn't think I would like Qian Qian. I really hated her at first because she was the typical spoiled "I want - me me me" type. But they really made her likable by the end and I liked who she ended up with. You don't see that happening very often. lol Honestly, All of the relationships in this show were rare to see. It was a nice change. lol

Superficial Candy drama that barely made a splash

Let's get the good bits out of the way. It is technically a remake of the k-drama Clean with Passion for Now. It has been given the Chinese rom-com treatment so that the sharp corners were rounded off and extra CP's added to amp up the sugar quotient. The CP's are good looking and have decent chemistry. There is a decent amount of skinship that didn't looked forced. It is only 24 episodes long.
HOWEVER, the script is a mess. It is just a chain of artificial sweetener moments and then downers so that the writer can ramp up to the next sugar high. This meant one tropey situation follows another with little ground work which, over time, made you care less and less about the overarching storylines. Character development is cosmetic at best. This is a real shame as I did find the drama engaging for the first few episodes.
The antagonist was the worst I have seen for some time. Why that guy hated the ML so much and how he kept doing the dirty deeds even though everyone knew he did it but he was never called to account. Even after his most devastating act, he just walked away and the show conveniently forgot all about him. The grandfather was from central casting and it was quite fanciful that after years of abuse and the prime trigger for the ML's illness, the reconciliation happened over a meal and a few encouraging words. I knew the script demands it at that point so that we can get on with the happy endings but it beggars belief.
Acting was ok for the most part but there was no chance of a breakout role. Shen Yue did a good job and I like her acting in this a little more than Love So Beautiful where she was less convincing as an older version of herself towards the end of LSB. Jasper Liu was handsome and gentle. They do have swoon worthy moments but you can spot them from a mile away. CP2 was the classic celeb/bodyguard trope. Worked fine here and probably the more interesting of the 3 pairings but it was straight out of the rom-com central. The weakest link was CP3 which is the older girl and younger man pairing. Their push/pull was not particularly strong and it was always just a matter of time before they become official. A much better recent drama with that theme is My Fated Boy.
Now my biggest issue with this show, the 2ML. Why, writer, why? The 2ML was an odd character and the kindest way to describe him is chaotic neutral. The meet-cute with the FL was cliché and he was so overbearing. His behaviour as the ML's therapist was all manner of wrongs. Malpractice came to mind, to be honest. His actions were ambiguous, obsessive and pretty much at the whim of the writer. There is no chance of the Second Lead Syndrome.
Ultimately, many things about this show were superficial and so scripted that you just felt disengaged. The tropey plots will motor along with or without you. It was a lightweight, fluffy show and quite forgettable.
P.S. You must watch the ending, it is SO cheesy.
P.P.S. There is a bonus epilogue available on YouTube. Saccharine overload but actually quite cute. :D

Expected More

I love Shen Yue and Jasper Liu so I was beyond excited to have them work together in a drama. Unfortunately, the drama wasn't that great of a drama. First of all, I don't understand how you can accidentally kiss someone while tripping/falling. I never understood or liked that trope and this drama didn't change it for me. Second of all, I am no doctor or educated in anything related to the medical field, but I don't understand the logic behind some of the medical explanations they had. But again, I am no doctor so I can't be sure that some of these explanations aren't realistic. In the end, I found myself watching the drama at 2x speed. I gave it an 8-star rating because the show/couple had its cute moments.

Light fluffy romance you’re looking for.

As I’ve watched the Korean version which contained heavier deeper content, this one came as a light hearted afternoon tea. I had expected more from the storyline, they skipped/summarized many important scenes and instead gave a lot of pointless fillers. Although, I’m not really complaining as the fluffy content on this one will really satisfy ones who’re looking for it.

As with the romantic scenes, there’s not much to say, it’s a bit more than your average kissing scenes but less bed scenes (if you get me). For the second lead male, I have a feeling they were trying to give him the second lead syndrome but unfortunately there was not enough power to it. I’m not sure if it was the character development or the inconsistent personality but at first they showed that he was trying to keep the girl and for some reason he plays this matchmaking for the both leads. Maybe there was no problem with it but there was no smooth transition a.k.a. He just somehow made up his mind the next episode.

The best thing about this drama was the ost. Not because it’s in English, but it gives you the feeels in the scenes. They played it perfectly in sync with the leads. I had saved it on my playlist.

Anyways, everyone has the right to their own opinions and expectations aside, this drama is worth procrastinating your assignment. Enjoy :)

l loved it !!!!

Could not stop watching until the end. Stereotypical romantic comedy (yes) with all the typical misunderstandings (yes), but still a wonderful tv show to make you smile and want to love someone special in your life!
Funny romantic show that transcends cultures. It's the cutest web series I've seen! Anti stress, romantic and funny!!! This drama is very simple in terms of story line but both main leads acting is amazing.! Everything about the drama was so good and beautiful: scenery, music, drawings...The superb chemistry between couples, especially Shen Yue and Jasper Liu 😍
I really recommend you to watch it!

Jasper Liu + Shen Yue is a such a pleasing combo

I purely started to watch this because of the cast, I really love to see Jasper Liu and Shen yue together. Turns out the drama is fine for me, tho the storyline is not that refreshing but the romance is cute, and both secondary couple is cute.

I always find a lot of unlogical stuffs when I watch C-Drama but actually since I watch this when I had to bedrest so all the nonsense, sweetness and cuteness from the couple is cheer me up. For me, this will be even better if we had moreeee romance scene. It's good but I don't think I will rewatch the completele episode.

Use for my talent is great and here's why

First thing to note is jasper li and shen yue in this drama gave me literal heart attacks not only are the scenes well written but also they are well acted also and i ship them so much and yes Ik the age gap but so what it's a big gap but not as big in count your lucky stars (shen yue is FL there) and i have not watched the korean version as of writing this review but it doesnt matter.
anyways i can honestly say that this is my favourite drama and i would love for shen yue and jasper to lead in a drama again and i have to praise the writing in this it never felt tiring and the romance were full of consent unlike other dramas also Saksakin niyo na ako because this was sweet

P.S: Im filipino and in the philippines we have a saying called 'Saksakin niyo na ako' which is saying used when a couple or scene that is so sweet you want to literally stab yourself

EVERYTHING GOES SO FAST

(i haven't finished it lmao and idk if something here counts as spoiler but just in case)
- renqi almost literally fell in love at the first ep. like, i can enjoy the ml falling first even in the first episodes but not that soon
- they solve everything so fast. they knew who were spying on them in like 1 ep and we knew who renqi's therapist was really soon
- renqi stole shuangjiao' cup. that was creepy if you ask me, even if he had misophobia and he wanted to know if he was inmune to her it's kinda weird

it had a very simple story but I couldn't stop myself to love it because it has an :

1 - amazing couple chemistry I don't meant only the main couple but also the secondary couples had an interesting concept.
2 - Beautiful cinematography and
3 - Most important what made this series perfect is Jasper Liu's smile ◠‿◠ he's beautiful

I have finished the series and already missing Gu Ren Qi he's tooo adorable... and imagining my coming next days without Use For My Talent is sooo sad sob sob sob ╥﹏╥ I want another light, sweet and cute series like this of Jasper Liu soon

My 3rd favorite at the moment!

This drama was very good, but it can’t beat my number 1 favorite romance cdrama (my little happiness). To be honest any drama shen yue is in, i would watch. The drama she makes are very good, and I can guarantee that this drama is equally good to any other. I loved the story line and the wholesome moments between the two main leads. Even though it had a whole 3-5 episodes (I forgot) for them to make up after they fought. Their chemistry also seems very good and beautiful.

I can definitely recommend this to you ❤️

Despite My Ratings, I Liked This Drama

(I'll only focus on the four main characters in this review. Be aware that this review has major spoilers)

This drama is lucky I am a sucker for cringy rom-coms. As usual, we always start with the clumsy-but-bright FL (Shuang Jiao), who of course happens to be the breadwinner of the family. Then we have the guarded-but-sweet ML (Ren Qi), who of course happens to have a major issue that prevents him from connecting with others on a deeper level, which the FL help to overcome or "fix". And just like every cringy rom-coms, they both have some major family issues. Shuang Jiao losing her mom and Ren Qi having a strained relationship with his grandfather. Of course we have the side characters. The second male lead (Lu Xian) who apparently has known the FL before the ML and has liked her before him. Of course he also has some secret connection to the ML which we discover later. Now, this is where we diverge from the typical rom-rom characters. I LOVED that the "second" female lead (Qian Qian) wasn't a mean girl who tried to ruin the relationship between the FL and the ML. We also had a good-girl-bad-guy trope with her story. I am a sucker for this trope as well. I love that she's this "good girl" that has to keep a certain persona and she falls in love with the "bad guy" (Dong Xian) who has a dark past (and of course, is a badass). I also love that the MIL was so supportive of the ML and FL's relationship and wasn't the "take this money" or "you're no good for my son" type character. I know I'm being sarcastic but I actually really enjoyed this drama. It's a light watch if you don't want something too heavy.
