100% unbaised Review

Okay to start off with this review like all series i come into it with no expectations and this series left me quite fustrated.

So to all potential watchers out there first of all it has like 4 episodes (if i remember correctly) so PLEASE dont expect much. The main issues i had with the drama was:

1. the acting - perhaps for some of them it was their first time acting but it really wasnt good. I think subconsciously i was expecting chemistry that was as good as Mew and Gulf in tharntype (which i 100% recommend) so when there was nothing there i was put off.

2. The cring factor is real. This whole drama was so cringy that it took me over 2 weeks to watch it as i could never get passed one episode.

3. The plot was stupid. Okay no offence but whoever wrote that script needs a wake up call. If your a big BL fan practically over 90% of them are school setting so your drama has to stand out. This one was so disappointing that i wondered why i was wasting my time watching this. No part of this drama was fascinating and even though it was a short drama they could have spruced up the script a bit.

I would say watch this drama at your own will but i would say that i 100% dont recommend this

The acting was bad and the plot was demotivating. Everything went by so fast that it did not make sense at all. There wasn't so much story to tell nor was there even time for me to get invested with the main characters. It was dry and cringeworthy to say the least. It could have had more potential if only the writing wasn't sloppy or the direction was clearer.

I couldn't see the chemistry between the main actors as well. Win was awkward but I have to say Folk tried his best but it just didn't work for me.

If not for Folk (Bar)

I would not watch this if not because of Folk (Bar) for the reason that I found him handsome and cute. Review: First, the story was very shallow. Second, the casts apparently need more acting workshops. We can't justify their performance with the "newbie" reason because we have seen several BL shows with most main casts are newbies that performed EXCELLENTLY. To mention a few there are Win Metawin (Tine in 2gether), Ohm Thitiwat and Nine Noppakao (Dean and Korn, respectively, in UWMA), Mario Maurer (acting debut in The Love of Siam), Gulf Kanawut (Type in TharnType) and most main actors in 2Moons and 2Moons2. I hope these actors in En of Love: TOSSARA will attend more acting workshops so that their exposures will not go to waste, and I believe they are all potential good actors in the future. Third, the chemistry between Win (Gun) and Folk (Bar) is 3/10; I can feel the awkwardness between them or maybe because it is overshadowed by their low acting skills. Lastly, the direction and production are 4.5/10.

ONLY FINISHED CUZ ITS SO SHORT

One of the worst series I've ever seen, BL or otherwise.

Gun's character is horrible. As others have stated, he does not understand personal boundaries, is far too clingy and possessive, rude to people for no reason, never listens to his love interest or takes his feelings into account and comes off as potentially the worst BF in history. Ugh. Even if he was truly goodlooking, which everyone claims but... NO, this behavior would not be acceptable. And it's certainly no way to win over someone who claims to be straight.

The script is just the worst. In one scene, the characters repeat themselves 10 times. "I like you." Well, I like you", :That's good cuz I like you." "Well you better cuz I like you". WHAT? From Episode 1 Gun is clear in his intentions and feelings and it does not change throughout. There is ZERO tension, zero growth.

There is no motivation for Bar to suddenly flip teams and give into Gun. It's not like he's been treating him well. And it happens in an instant. If all it takes to win this guy's affections and turn him from women to men is attention, then you've got a shallow character. Put some effort into it, guys.

The acting is wooden, stiff, amateurish at best. Gun has zero appeal. Bar is cute and has one nice moment where he almost tears up, talking about how scared he is - but other than that they don't ask him to dig deep enough into this conflicted character. I think he may have more potential if he had a better script and director. Short is my favorite body type, so I was all in! Chemistry? Not from Gun. I believed that Folk/Bar was enamored when he looked at Gun. But together they did not make any sparks fly.

I did like the friends. And all were better actors than the leads.

Okay, so for some reason you hire this guy to play Gun - and he's a bit flabby with sagging pecs and little tummy. Don't have people talk about how muscular he is. Just cut those lines. What do they add anyway? I'm not saying the actor is bad looking. He's just not what they say he is. People fall in love with average looking dudes every day, so since you cast this guy just let him be an average looking guy. You don't even have to write ANY dialogue about his looks. Maybe try to create a personality for him. That's what people REALLY fall in love with.

Episode 4 has no purpose at all. And there's this great exchange, "I will tell them at the assembly tomorrow. Can you come?" "Stop teasing me. When I'm brave enough I will kiss him in front of you." I'm sure there's a translation problem otherwise I will have to assume brain hemmorage. And then it just ends. Thankfully.

DO NOT BOTHER.

Acting was bland with the story.
Seems so flat -___-

The plot of the story reminds me alot with 2gether.
How they meet, how they approach each other.
But somehow i feel the different.
They don;t have a chemistry,
i think the actor need to improve their acting.
So they can be blend with the story.
And also cringey.

Third, the sound was not good.
There was a noise in the middle of the scene and at the end.

I think if they can not sell the chemistry, they should sell good stories
but in my opinion they fail.
forgive me for this honesty

Kind of creepy

Before watching the 2022 Love Mechanics, I thought it would be a good idea to watch the En of Love series to get a grip on the characters and any backstories that might be good to know. That is a decision that TOSSARA made me regret. I like the other two instalments of En of Love much better.

Gun & Bar: Gun gave me creeps pretty much all the time. His interactions with Bar made me uncomfortable. I don’t really know what they were trying to do, but this was not cute, it was creepy. Bar was sweet, I liked his character. And him rejecting Mark is probably my favorite scene in the series. It shows that he can be assertive when needed. I think that the two actors playing Gun and Bar lacked chemistry, there was not a single moment where I thought that the two characters might like each other.

Here’s the thing. The plot and the idea behind it are not bad. It had a lot of potential to be great, but I think the execution was not good. It lacked in many aspects. Maybe things would have been better if the series was longer and the relationship between Gun and Bar actually had a chance to fully develop. Or not, Gun was creepy. I know I said that before, but that really stuck with me.

Some things are better left forgotten.. Like this drama

I'm not one to judge a drama when the production has a low budget, as long as there is a decent story and a cast that can pull it off, but this was not one of those cases. Acting, production/editing, story-telling, etc were all underwhelming. The promo poster for this drama showed more personality and expressions from the main leads than the entire drama did.

STORY:

The premise of this story is quite common: Medical x Engineering students, one popular student confesses to the popular "tough" student and eventually love ensues. I have not read the novel, but I knew there was already the biggest crux of having only 4 episodes to showcase the progression of a relationship; meaning the relationship might seem too forced due to time restrictions and would also likely leave out a chunk of important details that wouldv'e helped viewers feel more invested in the story. While watching, it felt like there was a lot of information missing and little character development. One minute someone is confessing, then the next they're "in love", then suddenly it's over. We don't really understand or get any insight on the thoughts behind the characters' actions, or much less really know who they are aside from social media gossip from other students about them.

ACTING/CAST:

I feel the acting is what made this drama suffer the most. There was no chemistry and Win in particular seemed the most lacking in terms of acting skills. We are supposed to believe he's the most desired; everyone in the university gossips about how great he is yet when he's on-screen, he's very mellow, monotone at times even. Nothing like anyone has been describing him as. I personally feel he was miscasted since he couldn't match Gun's character. Folk's acting was superior to Win's, he had a bit more range in his expressions and demeanor, but he too was visibly lacking and had many moments where he looked awkward being close to Win which didn't make the romance believable.

PRODUCTION/EDITING:

Made this category because I had a few gripes while watching. There were some poorly edited scenes in this drama. One in particular was when Bar kissed Gun on the cheek. We are supposed to believe they kissed but the angle and shot they chose clearly shows he didn't kiss him at all. They also replayed the scene as a romantic moment, each time showing the obvious gap between them. Not to mention Folk looked uncomfortable doing it. More reasons I couldn't see the "love" between the characters. Also, a couple of phone call scenes were poorly done. Gun's voice through the phone just sounded like a loud narration voiceover instead of an actual phone call. These kinds of mistakes lower the quality of the overall production.

REWATCH VALUE:

I watched all 4 episodes to see if the story would improve, but sadly it was underwhelming to the very end. I know it's connected to other dramas (Love Mechanics, etc), but for a first impression on the series, this drama doesn't make me want to watch them. This might be heaven for readers of the novel to a certain point because it's at least a live adaptation, but for first-timers such as myself with no knowledge of the characters, there isn't much to connect with so there's no reason to rewatch. There are far superior BL dramas out there.

Good? no. Consensual? YES!

Please don't get me wrong, this series SERIOUSLY had its faults, but it had something that I'm not used to seeing in BL, and that's consent! Everything else? Yeah, she needed some work.

Let's Dive In.

The acting was probably the worst part about this BL. The main characters did really bad, but Win's (Gun) acting was definitely the worst. It got a bit better by the end, but most of the time it felt robotic and stiff, and like he had a hard time expressing different emotions. While I do NOT believe in bashing the looks of Win (like some of you harshly do, as if ya'll look any better), I will say that he was an average looking dude, and them trying to play him off as the hottest guy on campus felt forced. The weirdest part is that they didn't need to play this trope at all, it wasn't like him being the hottest on campus drove the plot or anything, so it's pretty irrelevant. Most of the time I hate this trope because the cast in BL series are equally attractive, and none are overly-cuter or hotter than the rest. Just like Pha in 2moons2 and Sarawat in 2gether, they are played as the hottest on campus, but all cast members are attractive, so it makes no difference.

The one reason this couple is rated higher than the other En of Loves is because of one reason: CONSENT. I loved that even though Bar didn’t like Gun at first, Gun wasn’t forcing himself onto Bar and instead was just being there when he could. We have to speak about their first time because it was everything. We need more of this in BL!!! Bar made it clear that Gun needed his consent, and when it was given, Gun still was being patient and cautious. Even when they were kissing and Bar told him to wait, he immediately stopped and made sure he was okay and still comfortable. I LOVED IT. That scene is what really sold it for me. Had consent not been so broad in this series, then it would definitely be rated at a 5. But, because we weirdly don't see much consent in BL, this gave me a burst of hope that others will fall behind.

Besides that WONDERFUL moment, this series was stupidly rushed. Like, ridiculously rushed. Bar fell for Gun too quickly after saying he didn't like him. I get it, we only have 4 episodes, but it was way too rushed. Don't get me started on the whole "Moon" competition. Cringiest thing in humanity, I skipped all of it. I can't with literally any part of it.

A cringe series that was honestly one of those shows that you love because it's not good. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to see something with clear consent, but this would definitely be the last thing I'd recommend someone starting out in BL.

If you're looking for something to just laugh at and let time pass, then this is the series for you! However, if you're looking for something with more depth, seriously, I'd suggest you make a pass on this.

STORY:
Upon reading the summary plot, I'd say that I hopped in to this series mainly because of Bar's character as a Hazer (SOTUS really imprinted good feelings towards the Engineering Hazing ritual to me). The story talks about a Med Student going after his Engineering senior. Firstly, I find it pretty shallow that a guy who is not only a Hazer but someone who was pretty sure of himself being a "PUCHAI" allowed someone to woo him through blackmail. Honestly, I would have punched Gun for blackmailing me. The relationship development was too rushed! One moment, bar didn't like guys and the next second he was swept away by the young doctor's charms. That doesn't really happen in real life. At least not withing ONE WEEK! It's just a predictable story-line with a boring plot that's definitely cringe worthy from the start to the end.

ACTING/CAST:
I only rate this with a 5.0 only because I truly see the potential in Folk Thitiphat. His acting was pretty okay though I felt he needed to add just a little bit more aggression into his character as Bar. It was a little too gentle. I felt like I could just pick him up and put him in my pocket! It's no wonder the Doc blackmails him. Looks wise, Folk is absolutely adorable and I enjoyed watching him through all his facial expressions and scenes. Just felt that he needs to add on just a little weight cause I felt like the wind could have just blown him away.

Tossakan's character on the other hand was a pain for me to follow. The so called handsome and confident doctor did not really OOZE out the confidence and charisma he's supposed to portray. It really seemed as if he was Faking it till he makes it. The way he talks or when there's voice-over for his texts/FB comments, it seems too soft and gentle. The kindness he is trying to portray is very unbelievable and every line he says (probably blame the script) was too cringy! On top of that, I seriously hated that confession scene on stage. I felt very very disappointed with the character. Seriously, grow a spine and don't cry like a baby. Visually, I felt that Win Achawin could definitely use more practice to better his facial expressions. It's not bad but it's not good either. Definitely room to grow. As for his face! God help me, he must have been going through hormonal changes and puberty because I keep seeing pimples that are ripe (with yellow pus) even if they're small. It's super distracting because all I was thinking about was popping those zits that I could not focus on the series. I think the staffs (makeup) should pay attention more to these details especially when they're doing beauty shots.

MUSIC:
What music? Cause honestly, I couldn't recall any music.

REWATCH VALUE:
No. Not worth a second watch really. Again like I said in the beginning, if you just wanna pass time, then maybe... Just maybe this could do okay considering it's just 4 episodes. But I won't watch it again.

OVERALL:
It's too Cringy! I literally paused the series to post a GIF of a unicorn vomiting rainbows. It was entertaining and I was giggling all the way through because of the cringe. Seriously gave me goosebumps but other than that, it was not a good series. My only positive take away from this is that I discovered Folk and would love to keep a watch out to see his future projects if any.

It’s cute

Okay. I’m back again to praise a series everyone else seems to hate... Lol! It was cute! It’s short, the actors seemed a bit stiff, and the story went fast. Folk is super cute! Win is cute, but not in the typical Thai drama series way. I liked it. They’re chemistry was cute, although a bit rushed, which is understandable in such a short series. Not the greatest series, but it certainly wasn’t terrible. It’s cute, and I enjoyed it. I’d recommend watching it. It’s short, the characters are cute, and it’s a fluffy story.

Boring

Unfortunately, this was just plain boring for me. There were some really good scenes in it - like when Bar set some boundaries for Gun because he didn’t want Gun to work himself to exhaustion - but overall, this drama made me realize anew that “coffee shop” stories, ie stories with little to no angst or drama, just don’t work for me. I need some push-n-pull, some tension, some conflict to happen to keep up my interest.

Or maybe, it was the acting. The actor playing Bar was amazing - but the one playing Gun... wasn’t, to be kind. I felt that Folk Thitiphat who played Bar carried the entire show by himself and, really, when the story is very plain then the drama needs to be build on the actors. And here, one part of the couple was simply lacking in acting skills. Or maybe in experience. Maybe Win Achawin will turn out to be a fantastic actor in the future but here, well, he simply couldn’t keep up with Folk in the acting department. Which is too bad.

Skip this one and watch the other two En of love series.

Among the 3 En of love this one (Tossara) is my least fav. I hated the acting. The camera work, music and production 10/10. But the chemistry was tooooo awkward. Cringe level 10/10. The other two En of love series were far better compared to this one. I understand that the actors were casted at the last moment and hadn't had enough workshops to improve their acting. But so did the other two cpuples. Yet they did so much better. The novel was wonderful. Its serialization just turned out worst.
So if anyone wanna watch this skip Tossara. Nothing much happens. Gun flirts and starts a relationship with Bar. Mark, a junior of Bar is also in love with Bar. But at the end Bar chose Gun. Mark is heartbroken. This is what Tossara is about. For heaven's sake skip this and watch the other two which pairs Mark x Vee (Bar's friend) and Nuea ( Bar's friend who liked Mark) x Praram ( Gun's brother , who also has a twin brother Pralak).
